This weekend I went to Berlin to explore the great historical city..I walked for probably 12 hours everyday, but totally worth it!! There is so much to explore. (From the fancy shops in Charlottenburg in the west to the more punk`rockers enviroment in Friedrichain in the East.)
A city for every urge I guess..

The interior design was a combination of designers furniture,and home-made furniture.A very nice environment with friendly staff.

One of the things I really would love to bring into my home right now is a KILIM rug.

If you read different interior magazines right now, you can find different types of Kilim rugs.It has become trendy to own one I guess.

Most Kilim rugs are originated in the Middle East. and the word Kilims means`flat tapestry-woven carpets or rugs produced from the Balkan-Pakistan. The rugs has probably existed for almost ten thousand years as shown by many relics of the past.They where not produced for commerce use in the first place, but now it has become a fashionable thing to own.There is different types of kilim, depends on who makes them.For each tribe or village, they got their own certain style.Everything from dark colors to bright ones, they also varying in the pattern (from simple patterns to more complex patterns) (did you know that these rugs where also used as a prayers rug???or that in some houses they are used as pure decoration on the walls??)
Well wherever you want to use it, there is no rules...

Here are some very pretty exaples of kilim rugs:

STOCKHOLM FURNITURE FAIR 2012!

Since my little sister went to the Stockholm Furniture Fair last year, I got to go this year!
(while she stayed in Oslo working! ;)....

I was so lucky to get the invitation from PitnyBownes,(Thank you guys!!) It was a couple of intense days, looking at both new and old designs. Its such a nice way to meet people in the same business, and not to forget mentioning meeting MISTER TOM DIXON!!!

Fora Form had a nice stand this year! ballerina and movement in focus.

If you`ve seen the show "SENKVELD", you probably notice their sofa.

This is a module-based sofa that was originally made by Knutsen, Berg and Hindenes for Senkveld. But later now produced by Fora Form. Cool modular base sofa, excellent in lobby environment.

PILLOW MAKING IN THE STUDIO!

Its been a while since we actually wrote something on our blog,.and therefore its about time to tell you what we have been doing lately..

Birgitte has turned the studio into a textilestudio..Working on some lovely pillows for a "secret" project she soon will tell you all about..but until then..its a secret!!! ;)

The only thing that we can tell you is:

On this project we are making some fantastic pillow with some fake fur that we ordered from Green Apple....We are actually making the pillows ourselves this time,.and our goal is to make at least 50 pillows in a short amount of time.......

Graffitti from Italy is probably not the same as graffitti in Oslo.
If you have not heard about Moneyless, you should mark yourself the name now..

Moneyless is an Italian street artist which uses ropes and wires to create his graffiti.This mysterious `moneyless` is obviously interested in conceptual thinking, and refers to quotations from Wordsworth and from various psychologists.

OPERA RESTAURANT

The Opera in Paris must have been such a dream project for the French Architect Odile Decq. The lòpera resturant is loacted in the Palais Garnier, and is such a historical building. It attracts both tourist and local french citizens.

It is so wonderful to see that the architect is embracing the classical details with his contemporary look.

a book by Steffan Bengtsson.

Last year Steffan Bengtsson published the book "NORWAY CALLING". A book about Norwegian design.It is very fun to see that it needed as Swedish author to write about Norwegian design., but why not? Maybe it is better to have someone else to write about Norwegian design, then someone norwegian??

This year we got a missed-call from Steffan, who wanted some information about Furuhælvetica,. Runa Klock then contacted Mr.Bengtsson who was very interested in writing about Furuhælvetica.

Maybe some "pine in the arsh" is not so bad after all? or?

The second exhibition at DOGA, Oslo.

A great book about soo many fantastic projects.

Here you got to read about how Steffan Bengtsson " consider the Norwegian Design new and different relation to landscape and nature."

In this book you can read more about great projects such as:

Its about five years ago since I last was in Bergen, so it was definitely about time to give it a visit.,. This weekend me and Elisabeth went to do some work for a client. Bergen is such a beautiful city, but you definitively need to like the weather. RAIN RAIN RAIN..

A very productive weekend and also inspiring.....

TEMPORARY CAFE in Vienna designed by PostlerFerguson..
Designed for the 2011 Vienna design week,.in the second district of Vienna.
The cafe was set up in only 3 days.Where all of the furnitures where flown to Italy flat-packed from London.

So if you where in Vienna during the Vienna design week, I hope you visit Sonja Cafe.

Its one year ago since the`KARSK`got served!

Its now one year ago since H&K went to London together with the guys from " Furuhælvetica".
It was a lot of fun to exhibit at the Designer`s block, and not to mention to be apart of a workshop at Victoria & Albert Museum.

A bit surrealistic to actually be in such a stunning environment where so many great art is displayed.And then us! Just a group of crazy Norwegian designers, having a workshop with pine and serving the traditional alcoholic drink `karsk` at the Museum. A low budget drink based on coffee and vodka. To hear upper class ladies asking for a poormans drink in the bar was hilarious.

What we didn't mention on our blog one year ago, was our fantastic way back to Norway. Signe and I was in charge of bringing back our exhibition from London. Driving a huge van rented in Oslo, through London and up to Immingham dock. Taking a ferry from the Uk to Gothenburgh. Not a normal ferry, but a ferry for truck-drivers!!!!

It was hilarious when we entered the parking space... Our little van side by side the gigantic monster trucks from all around the world. 2 days at the ferry, crossing the north sea, watching `how its made ` on national geographics, passing by many oil rigs, talking rubbish with toothless truck-drivers from Polen. Eating lovely food from the Swedish chef on-board. NOT an everyday`s journey I`ll say!..

Rosendahl is now launching a new collection to the Bojesen wooden toys. Since the 1940`s the wooden animals such as the famous monkey, the elephant and the bear has been alone in the collection, but now Rosendahl is adding a hippo, a dachsen and a rabbit in the very recognized collection.
To be honest I think the monkey is the best of Kay Bojesen, its cute as a button and it is perfect gift for both grown ups and children..cause who doesnt like monkeys???

Kay Bojesen wooden toys is just a genuine piece of modern danish design made with super craftmanship.So if you have not a monkey,a rabbit, a dachsen or hippo,..you should consider to add it on your shopping list soon...

SHOPPING INSPIRATIONS @ DOVER`S MARKET

I was really daydreaming when I suddenly saw my sister sent me a message with a picuture from her holiday. To be honest I got pretty dam jealous, but she really deserves a holiday too.;) so in the meantime I just have to continue my daydreaming about shopping, sun and beautiful places.

I came across this fun street market in London, and I just had to write a few words about it.. Dover street Market! FANTASTIC! This must be such a fun place to get inspiration while doing some crazy london shopping!!!

This eclectic market is owned by the fashion designer, Rei Kawakub. This woman really knows how to make the shopper experience unique and memorable. On their webpage she says that

" I want to create a kind of market where various creators from various fields gather together and encounter each other in an ongoing atmosphere of beautiful chaos: the mixing up and coming together of different kindred souls who all share a strong personal vision."

This woman really knows how to attract people! I wish we could have some fun and crazy shops like this in Norway too....

Designer`s Saturday

During the DS in Oslo, we popped by Svenheim to have a look at their new piece of furniture. It`s so fun to see that Svenheim are moving towards a more fun and playful look. This piece is made together with the Norwegian Designer Bjørn Jørund Blikstad.

THE WINNER OF BEST INTERIOR 2011

This years Designer`s Saturday in Oslo arranged some competitions, and this year the winner for best interior was Quality Spa & resort Norefjell by Interior architect Vigdis A. Bergh, and her colleagues Marte R. Fredriksen and Tove K.Ebbesen. H&K knows Marte from when she studied in Milano, and we really would love to congratulate her on this fantastic project and the best interior price at this year`s DS...And if we are not wrong, she is actually modelling in one of the photos from the hotel :) well done guys!
