Cancun's underwater museum

Now, there is one more reason to visit Cancun! Check out the following press release about the World's largest underwater museum right here in Cancun!

"I am excited that this will become the beginning of the world's largest underwater museum. This is a unique opportunity to explore the boundaries of art and combine it with reef conservation" said Jason de Caires Taylor, British underwater sculptor of the unique sculptures.

The main piece will encompass between 300 and 400 lifelike figures based on actual living people. Once the first phase of the project is completed, other artists will be encouraged to submit their own sculptures and contribute to this unique museum.

The National Park's director, Jaime Gonzalez Cano, calculates that by April 2010 there will be approximately 250 sculptures in the underwater museum. "The underwater museum will draw many visitors, allowing us to give a rest to the natural reefs. It's like a restoration process" Gonzalez explained. Upon the opening of the museum, divers will be required to gain experience in artificial habitats and snorklers will continue to wear life jackets for buoyancy to prevent damaging the natural corals and the new artificial habitats.

Race against Cancer!

Last Sunday our team members proudly participated in the "deafio por la vida" race here in Cancun against Cancer.

For those of you who were unable to make it, it was truly a sight to see the city turned pink with hundreds of supporters running for a good cause. Of course, it is still a competition, and we are proud to say that our representatives placed in the top three in at least one category. Congratulations to everyone who participated!

Antes que nada, quisiéramos agradecer a todos nuestros seguidores por todo el apoyo y retroalimentación que nos han brindado acerca de nuestro próximo evento. Estamos realmente emocionados en poder proveer un foro en donde todos los “tweeps” Cancunenses se puedan reunir y hablar de sus experiencias más memorables. Les informamos a todos nuestros invitados que enviaron a tiempo su forma de registro que podrán disfrutar de todos nuestros deliciosos bocadillos y refrescantes bebidas. Así mismo, contaran con descuentos especiales para cenar en nuestro exquisito restaurante Mitachi. First of all, we would like to thank all of our followers for such support and positive feedback about the event. We are truly excited to provide a place where all of our Cancun related 'tweeps' can meet and have a memorable experience.
All of our attendees that sent in their RSVPs by the time announced on from our Twitter account will enjoy all our food and beverage perks, including the special discounts for dinner at our restaurant. Our other attendees will receive all other perks but will be unable to enjoy the restaurant discounts, unfortunately.

Peninsula Convention Center

Our brand new oceanfront Peninsula Convention Center here at the Hilton Cancun had its inauguration party last week. We invited all the destination management companies in Cancun to see first hand what we proudly boast to be the ONLY oceanfront convention center in all of Cancun.
The convention center has already hosted many large groups since the official opening in July, such as the ASFALTO convention and the Latin American Food Show.

Since the opening of the hotel there have been two major ballrooms, connected by the “Mexico Patio” which offered a nice open sanctuary. Recently, however, our award winning sales team decided that we could capitalize on this space and make it more functional for our business guests. Now what was once a garden is now known as the Isla Jr. Ballroom, the newest addition to our salons, making it officially the new convention center. All three ballrooms are now even more functional, offering direct connections between salons while at the same time offering a gorgeous view of the Caribbean Sea.

Wedding preparation at the Spa

When getting ready for that big day, many of us pay attention to the usual details: making sure the ceremony starts on time, having all the decorations ready for the reception, keeping the kids away from the wedding dress, etc. However, there is one thing that is equally as important that needs to be taken care of, but is not often given the priority it deserves – your body.
We spoke with our spa staff here at the Hilton Cancun, and they have shared their thoughts on the treatments that they recommend to relax your body and mind. They also shared some advice to make sure your skin looks radiant and glowing for the hundreds of pictures that will be taken by your newly hired professional photographers.

Massages
Stress relief: One of the most major symptoms of pre-wedding jitters. For this, we recommend a relaxation massage: a full-body Swedish style massage using long, smooth strokes specifically designed to relax muscles and reduce stress.

Calming nerves: If you are fortunate enough to have someone else stressing for you, there will undoubtedly still be pre-wedding nerves. For this, we recommend hot stone therapy: this combines smooth warm stones with aromatherapy oils, stimulating circulation and calming the nerves.

- This is not recommended for stress relief

All of our treatments can be enjoyed in a spectacular outdoor beach-front setting.

Facials
For her: our hydrating facial includes a soothing and moisturizing treatment which nourishes the skin and adds to the natural pre-wedding glow.

For him: our gentleman’s facial which addresses all skin concerns particular to men, including razor burn. It is complemented by a face, neck and shoulder massage.

Packages
His & Hers: This special package includes an aromatherapy relaxation massage/hydrating facial/manicure/pedicure for her, and a deep-cleansing mineral facial/energizing full body massage for him.

Our couples have the option of sharing their massage sessions and getting some much needed alone time.
