Pangebaj Blinks: Withdraws post after affectionate threat

In a latest panga, Pangebaj Arun withdrew his post after the legal patriarch of Hindi Blogosphere Dineshji advised in strangely worded mail to Arun. Arun’s original post which is still available to web world , Net do not forget things easily!!

Whole thing is about annoyance to the way legal fraternity is addressing the Kasab episode there wasn’t anything against Dineshji except a veiled sarcasm for lawyers. Lawyer friend Dinesh reacted with an email that on first reading is concern and advice but closer readings suggests otherwise. It was advised that if post is not removed Arun is likely to face judicial music, with judges being sold two a penny, Arun succumbed and now post is not available at his blog.

My understanding is that by removing the post still making the email public what Arun has done is nothing but what he is best in…taking panga. He is not scared as some suggesting but is actually blowing the bigul hard. Episode is far from over.

Finally IPL Coverage in Hindi

Pratik informed by an email today that IPLKhabar.com is providing bal to ball coverage, scores, news and views on IPL world in Hindi. Now that is quite a news because despite all threadbare coverage including from fakeplayer, Hindi world was forced to digest the firang version. Till now I am not sure if it is venture of Pratik himself or Pratik just announced it but it is important nonetheless. It is however saddening that due to discriminatory policies of adsenses regarding language, IPLKhabar is not getting paying adsense revenue but showing public service ads only thereby making this venture commercially unviable. Hope Google will get wisdom soon.

I’ve not tested the ball to ball coverage aspect that I will today when my dear Delhi daredavil will meet the facinating Deccan Chargers today. If IPLKhabar is taking pains to do the ball to ball coverage in Hindi by itself then it is big big thing and they deserve good revenue from it, may be they should head to non google ad services.

Now while Malvika at HT reported that someone is blogging the dirty secrets at IPL, the whole net is going awry to find the dirty blog :)-

A blogger, who calls himself IPL anonymous, is digging up dirt on players, owners and coaches. Fakeiplplayer.blogspot.com is where the off-pitch action is. The blogger, who claims to be a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), could be a player or a crew member. But he’s bringing the aankhon dekha haal from inside the dressing rooms and the bedrooms.

This blog has become a hit in no time. with really dirty yet funny nuances. mandira may (not) mind -

At least Sandy Baddy Babe has a few tricks up her sleeve to distract the viewer from what she says.

Anyway the Cricket league is forced to rely on these non cricketing stuff afterall rain isn’t allowing much cricket otherwise.

The inaugral day at T20 was dissapointing for finalists of last edition. Pratik in his post which is the only post so far from Hindi blogworld. What is intresting is the fact that the Premier League is obviously not just cricket. It is all about cheerleading and the the dog intrusion into the field. Yes bollywood is invading the field and there are words that Dhoni’s beloved is likely to be present.

Next days match are among Delhi Daredavils vs kings of Punjab. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Deccan Chargers. Match is vailable Live on Sony SMax. and live on Cricinfo as well.

Muthalik has a lot of catching up to do

I chanced upon this piece at Pak tribune, it lists the list of dont’s being implemented at Swat in Pakistan by Taliban. I realise that though Muthalik and his men are doing very shameful acts but they have lot of catching up to do if they want to imitate their idols across the border. look at the list:

1- Complete ban on women’s work outside the home, which also applied to female teachers, engineers and most professionals. Only a few female doctors and nurses were allowed to work in some hospitals to look after the female patients only.

2- Complete ban on women’s activity outside the home unless accompanied by a ‘mahram’ (close male relative such as a father, brother or husband).

3- Ban on women dealing with male shopkeepers.

4- Ban on women being treated by male doctors.

5- Ban on women studying at schools, universities or any other educational institution. (The Swat Taliban have already let their distaste for women’s education be known by bombing close to 200 girl’s schools in the past few months.)

6- Requirement that women wear a long veil (Burqa), which covers them from head to toe.

7- Whipping, beating and verbal abuse of women not clothed in accordance with Taliban rules, or of women unaccompanied by a mahram.

8- Whipping of women in public for having non-covered ankles.

9- Public stoning of women (and men) accused of having sex outside marriage. (A number of lovers were stoned to death under this rule).

10- Ban on the use of cosmetics.

11- Ban on women talking or shaking hands with non-mahram males.

12- Ban on women laughing loudly. (No stranger should hear a woman’s voice).

13- Ban on women wearing high heel shoes, which would produce sound while walking. (A man must not hear a woman’s footsteps.)

14- Ban on women riding in a taxi without a mahram.

15- Ban on women’s presence in radio, television or public gatherings of any kind.

16- Ban on women playing sports or entering a sport center or club.

17- Ban on women riding bicycles or motorcycles, even with their mahrams.

18- Ban on women’s wearing brightly colored clothes. In Taliban terms, these are “sexually attracting colors.”

19- Ban on women gathering for festive occasions such as the Eids, or for any recreational purpose.

20- Ban on women washing clothes next to rivers or in a public place.

21- Modification of all place names including the word “women.” For example, “women’s garden” had been renamed “spring garden”.

22- Ban on women appearing on the balconies of their apartments or houses.

23- Compulsory painting of all windows, so women can not be seen from outside their homes.

24- Ban on male tailors taking women’s measurements or sewing women’s clothes.

25- Ban on males and females traveling on the same bus. Public buses were designated “males only” (or “females only”).

26- Ban on the photographing or filming of women.

27- Ban on women’s pictures printed in newspapers and books, or hung on the walls of houses and shops.

Apart from the above restrictions on women, the Afghan Taliban also had:

- Banned listening to music, not only for women but men as well.

- Banned the watching of movies, television and videos, for everyone.(Witness the bombing of audio/video shops in the NWFP Province)

- Ordered that all people with non-Islamic names change them to Islamic ones.

- Forced haircuts upon Afghan youth.

- Ordered that men wear Islamic clothes and a cap.

- Ordered that men not shave or trim their beards, which should grow long enough to protrude from a fist clasped at the point of the chin. (Witness the bombing of barber shops in the NWFP Province)

- Ordered that all people attend prayers in mosques five times daily.(As if obeisance to God could be ordered by dictat)

- Banned the keeping of pigeons and playing with the birds, describing it as un-Islamic. The violators were imprisoned and the birds were killed.

- Ordered all onlookers, while encouraging the sportsmen, to chant Allah-o-Akbar (God is great) and refrain from clapping.

- Ban on certain games including kite flying which was considered “un-Islamic” by the Taliban.

- Anyone who carried ‘objectionable literature’ was liable to be executed.

- Anyone who converts from Islam was liable to be executed.

- All boy students wore turbans. They said “No turban, no education”.

- Non-Muslim minorities wore distinct badge or stitch a yellow cloth onto their dress to be differentiated from the majority Muslim population. (Just like what Nazis did with Jews)

- Banned the use of the internet by both ordinary Afghans and foreigners.

Blog feminism is not new to Hindi blogosphere, its here for some time now. To talk numbers we can say it is at least one year old. Chokherbali which switched to its custom domain recently is now one year old. All these days Chokherbali some 38 women and men were talking and taking virtually everyone but virtually only. There were couple of print mentions, stories and cover stories but Chokherbali themselves worked offline. On its anniversary they came out for real test, and what a test it was. They took bigmouth Madhu Kishwar head on, who did not disappointed anyone. In her polemical best she dared the whole house without mincing words to put the records straight. Another interesting part was absolute absence of Hindi Massabs from the dice. Anamika and Sukrita Paul Kumar are English teachers at University of Delhi Rajkishore is Journalist while Madhu is well… well… well activists, feminist and journalist all rolled in one.

A lot of heat is generated in Student Activity Centre of DU on 6th Feb, keep watching.

Only problem with him is that he is in hurry always. This time to gatecrash to ‘me too’ party of intelligentsia he took the shot at feminism. It surely a recipe to short (cut) success. Alas he took a wrong gun..Savita Bhabhi.

Looking at trends at google one really wonder that how come it is holding 10 out top 10 positions in trends list. The list is as follows:

On the other hand when I digg the aggregators I find that Hindi Blogosphere is still waiting for first post on the issue. How do we explain it? Digital divide I suppose. We are writing what they are not searching. Tough time.

University Teachers gets a Bumper Hike, Notification Out

After the sixth pay commission revision teachers like me were sulking a lot. Now the Ministry of HRD has finally out with pay revision notification. As per the notification now Assistant professors will draw close to 45000 in big cities while Associate Professor should take home around 75000 before tax add 10000 or so for Professors, Hike though not as per demands but is spectacular nonetheless. Though it is in proportion only to the hike given to all central govt employees last September.

I am kind of feeling burdened with information overload. Cynthia suggests that it might not be such a bad thing. I agree, but it is strenuous nevertheless. Thinking of Hindi blogging it appears that people now will have to think blogging beyond aggregators. personalised aggregators is the solution. One should be able add remove feeds of his choice and that should be beyond just Hindi blogs. Yes its there igoogle and other places but can aggregators offer the space like that…iblogvani, ichittha.

Intel launched its brand new processor Intel Core i7. i7 is based on a new architecture marked different from core2 architecture. Techtree informed

Based on a completely new architecture, the Core i7 processors are markedly different from their predecessors and have many advantages over them. There is the increased parallelism with the processor being capable of executing 33% more concurrent micro-ops simultaneously.

Now the question is whether this addition of mass processing capability will end the language computing limitations in areas like automated translation.

Hindi Blogosphere is undergoing change faster then ever. So much so much so that we hardly miss a day without being at Blogvani, still end up getting blogs that are new. For instance take MadiraGyan (Booz knowledge) . I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised to see such an information rich Hindi Blog. This blog focusses on Madira and its types, its storage, its types (Whisky, wine, Beer, Scotch, American whisky..) I am sure cocktails, wine glasses, etc will follow. One gets this all sophisticated knowledge in Hindi with even the terminology like fermentation, distillation being translated and well translated.

So heading to bar..update yourself at Madira Gyan before you order your next drink. One must know what is there in glass before kissing it.

Finally Amitabh Bachchan’s Blog in Hindi as Well

Not quite!! The blog is same as we pointed earlier. News is that Rahul Upadhyay, who is originally from Ratlam has decided to stop requesting Amitabh to write in Hindi, and do it himself. So now on whenever Amitabh writes a blog, rahul takes it upon himself to spend a few hours and translate the blog at his own. Quite simple isn’t it.

Is it copyright violation? I don’t think so mainly:

Because Rahul has informed Bachchanji that he is translating the blog only till Big B has any problem with it, or BB want to do it himself.

Also because as per the prevailing practice Rahul is giving proper link and credit to what he translating. Every post is nothing but a fan’s admiration. and mind it Amitji in his last post paid gratitude to fans, like Rahul for making the Chhora of Ganga Kinaare, what he has become_ BIG B

Hindi Bloggers Taking Top Journalist Head On

Hindi blogging is getting bold to bolder. That is what the spirit of blogging is. This time it is Top TV journalist Punya Prasun Bajpai. the whole story goes like it- Bajpai wrote a story on his blog, story tries to problematize the most problematic :) Terrorism what else. Taking Jamia Nagar incident and analysing the irony of residents there. What Prasun erred was that he took no position on encounter itself and kind of swept the incident under carpet kind of suggesting that encounter might not be a genuine one.

That obviously did not went well with other Hindi bloggers. Had it been two years hence, bloggers might have ‘requested’ Prasun to look at the other picture but here the beaming Hindi bloggers tries to look at the Prasun eye to eye and dare him on every front. A counter post by Viswa Samay and really outspoken comments says a lot.

Rather than this or that position on the issue what interests me is the fact that Hindi blogging is no more a shying kid playing junior to other forms of media. Here the common bloggers are taking the big one head on..I’m luving it.

Bollywood Movie Used Computer in 1978

Kabadkhana may sound absurd to you but if you are Hindi Blogger then you know that it is gem of a blog. In a recent post Sidheshwar dug out a fact that we were not aware at all. Sidheshwar points out that it was Amitabh Bachchan’s “Trishul” where the word “Computer” got mentioned in a Bollywood dialogue for the first time. Amazing fact, Isn’t it?

Trishul was released in May, 1978. PC was nowhere to be seen yet (I touched computer in 1989, owned one three years later) so Bollywood should be considered well advanced that they used “computer” (though only word) in 78. Anyways if you are interested the Hero called his secretary a computer and when she wondered “what the hell is that”, he explains it is a machined invented in west that can do all calculation and typing correctly..huh not bad for a guy of seventies, is it. some 25 years later this very angry young man was asking this machine..Lock kiya jaye…

So from security agencies to commoners and Bloggers are frantically searching the IM. (though I wonder hoe someone who is deadly Mujahideen can call itself 'Indian") . Anyway's if you are also looking for Indian Mujahideen...I know what should you do it...Simple GOOGLE it.

Income Tax Relief on Pay Commission Arrears

While every government employee find himself in dilemma to be happy or not. Sixth pay Commission stand implemented and they are pronounced to richer by 21%. But what is not announced is that a big chink of what employees will get is taken back in terms of Income Tax. Even the group C employees are bracketed in 30% slab due to arrears. What is more objectionable is the fact that while they will get only 40% of the due arrears in this financial year but they will have to pay tax on whole arrear rather then a part thereof. To do so, Income Tax Department is taking refuse in an earlier SC directive that empowers the govt to levy tax on due hike rather than actual payment. What this whole jargon implies to common employees is that they actually end up getting their arrears minus 30% of the total due arrears.

Now there is news as reported in Karmchari's Blog that employees may get option to stagger their arrear income into last three years instead of considering it income of one year only, it will help some to get the lower tax slab rather then higher one. General feeling though is that government is giving by one hand and taking back by other.

Pain in Parlor : The Ugly Face of Beauty

The headturners across the street pays heavily to be one. The mushrooming beauty parlours carry out several processes like waxing, threading etc on willing bodies, presumably human. But this willingness is more social than voluntary. Consider a twelve year old girl pushed to parlour for a painful procedure called waxing. Molten sugar is spread on the skin and then it is pulled suddenly causing unnecessary pain. But why? compliance...sir compliance. Compliance to the expectation that girls should learn to be beautiful, for beauty is the only insurance for attention and 'care' of menfolks.

Neelima's post on pain in parlours is important as it points to deep socialization of women, that they no more need any push from men. Their socialization prepares them so efficiently that they not only queue themselves at parlours for painful procedures but also train new ones from their species to learn to bear the pain.

Condom Ringtone Shakes Hindi Sanskars

You don't expect anything different, do you. Condom may be a simple latex balloon but it is no less than bomb when it comes to the 'sanskari' Hindi intelligentsia. Take the post from Neeshoo at Media Vyuh. Neeshoo is too embarrassed to hear the Condom word. The whole sanskari mindset is threatened. We don't say much..while I agree to the conclusion as Anshumali puts that market is intruding into the personally space little bit too much but Condom ringtone is not the reason thereof. Very purpose of removing the taboo makes it a necessary that C word be spoken aloud.

BTW I just don't understand that if Savita is a behenji who will embarrassed hearing the condom word, why will she install it in her phone at all.
