Indie

2025-03-02T15:15:00.004-07:00

Indie is a sweet and loyal female shepherd cross, born right here at the Hinton SPCA on July 25, 2024. She was adopted out as a puppy, but the adoption turned out to be incompatible and she was returned to us February 22, 2025. Indie is a friendly girl with an exuberance for life! She already knows how to sit and shakes a paw like a pro.. She is a smart girl, and with consistency, she learns quickly.

When it comes to children, Indie would do best in a home with children who are 12 and older. Indie does well with other dogs when introduced properly. She has no history with cats. Currently, Indie shares her yard time with her good pal Bear.

She adores human companionship and would make a wonderful adventure buddy or snuggle partner. Come meet Indie and let her show you just how much love she has to give!

Gino

2024-11-15T17:53:00.004-07:00

Gino is a one year old male American Bulldog who is microchipped and neutered. This handsome boy would do well with a confident owner who has breed experience. He knows his basic commands and walks well on leash. (Gino spent two weeks at K9 Balanced Training!) He is very affectionate with his people once he gets to know them, walks well on leash and loves his toys.

Ilya

2024-09-10T21:02:00.019-06:00

Iyla is a kind and affectionate 3 year old Shepherd mix with a heart full of love. She came to us through, Second Chance Animal Rescue and at the time was pregnant, eventually giving birth to 8 beautiful puppies.

Now it is her turn to find a loving home. Ilya walks well on leash , (one of our volunteer dog walkers favorite) know sits and is a well mannered girl.

Olaf

2023-10-18T10:48:00.005-06:00

Name: Olaf

Breed: Shar Pei cross

Cats: No known history

Dogs: Yes (Loves other dogs)

Weight: 52lbs

Olaf was one of 13 dogs we got off the same property. He came to us with very low confidence so we are working with him everyday to boost him up! Olaf loves other dogs and is happiest when he has a canine friend to play with.

We are currently working on getting him to trust new humans, so luckily for Olaf this means he gets to eat wet food from staff's hands (He loves this time of day). Olaf would do best with a dog owner with a lot of experience. He is gentle soul that just needs somebody with the time to take a chance on him.

Nala (longest resident)

2022-08-31T17:16:00.013-06:00

Name: Nala

Age: 4 years old

Breed: Pitbull cross

Dogs: Selective

Cats: Incompatible

Housetrained: Yes

Meet Nala, the longest resident at Hinton SPCA. She has been with us over 750 days. Nala is eager to find her forever home. Nala is a friendly and exuberant soul who adores people, but she prefers to be the only dog in the household. She's currently in the process of learning her basic manners and commands, showing great progress. Nala is a fantastic travel companion, riding smoothly in vehicles. She would flourish in an experienced dog owner's care, especially one with a large yard who is committed to furthering her training and providing the love and attention she deserves. Give Nala the chance to shine in your home and be rewarded with endless love and loyalty in return!

The Board of the Hinton and District SPCA

Boarding Check Out Time

2018-12-03T20:46:00.002-07:00

The Board was forced to raise the boarding fees two months ago because of the increase in minimum wage. Upon reviewing our boarding fee structure it was decided to implement a boarding check out policy. Boarding check out is now by 11:00 a.m. daily. If you pick up your pet after 11:00 you will be charged for the day. A check out time enables the SPCA staff to clean kennels prior to the end of shift.

Sponsorship: Can't adopt? Want to help?

2014-02-22T18:04:00.001-07:00

We have decided to offer sponsorships of the pets in our care. Many people can't adopt a pet but they would like to support one. By sponsoring a pet you can help pay some of the costs of the care of the dogs or cats in the care of the SPCA.

How does it work?

For a $25 donation you can sponsor a dog or cat of your choice for the duration of its stay at the SPCA. Your name will appear under the animal's picture on the blog, on the animal's kennel and on Facebook with the animal from time to time. It can be a personal name or a company name. If you don't want your name listed it can be recorded as anonymous.

Only one sponsor per animal and first come-first sponsored. Sponsorship can be done by dropping into the SPCA between 9-1 and 6:30-8:30 daily or by calling the SPCA with your credit card.

If you have any questions please email Cathy at caththom2000@yahoo.com.

Volunteer Opportunities

2014-01-08T21:05:00.002-07:00

The SPCA is currently looking for assistance with bottle sorting. The volunteering includes moving bottles in the SPCA van (you must have a driver's license) to the bottle depot, sorting and counting bottles. Some bags and boxes are heavy so a good back is an asset. Hours are flexible. If you are interested please contact Cathy at 780.817.1075.

Bottle Drive

2013-05-19T15:18:00.002-06:00

The SPCA is holding our annual bottle drive but we are doing it a little differently this year. We are asking that people with a small amount of bottles drop them at the SPCA at their convience. For larger loads pick up can be arranged by calling Cathy at 780.817.1075.

The SPCA uses bottle money to help pay for veterinary care, including spays and neuters for the animals in our facility.

Want to volunteer?

2012-09-03T15:49:00.000-06:00

Tess (Tess has been adopted) is showing her appreciation of one of our volunteers! Volunteers are welcome, those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

We need your help!

2012-08-26T15:45:00.002-06:00

The SPCA needs volunteers for the following positions:
     1. Bottle sorting - hours flexible
     2. Book store sorting (9-1, 6:30-8:30)
     3. Dog walkers (11-1 and 6:30-8:30)
     4. Cat cuddlers (11-1 and 6:30-8:30)

If you are interesting in helping with any of these please contact Cathy at 817.1075 or caththom2000@yahoo.com.
