Greetings “Ducky”,

Thank you for taking the time to write your thoughts/experience. Sorry to hear about your loss of everything. That cannot be easy.

Two weekends ago while speaking at a GODencounters (http://www.godencounters.org) in North Carolina, I was pleasantly surprised to see the conference presidents from both the “white-ee” conference and the regional conference attend the event and then host a town hall discussion whereby young adults could open up to raise questions/comments. Not only was I impressed to see the two conference presidents sitting in the same room together, I was impressed to see their willingness to listen. I could be wrong, but they didn’t strike me as the type of leader that would undermine one of their pastors by negating what he had just preached from the pulpit. It is that type of behavior that breeds an environment of top down control, which is motivated by fear.

May God continue to guide and direct both you, me, this church into all truth!

Courage!

Just makes me extra happy I’m married, and if I were not, I’m beyond the point of caring about finding someone. So much tension and drama.

Again, excellent writing!

YAY!!!

From where I sit, if you really want to walk regularly, you have to wear the right clothes, which to me would mean at the very minimum taking a change of pants (skirt/bottoms) and shoes with you. I have this dilemma every year for conventions, and I always grin and bear the wrong shoes or drive. But long-term, you have to wear the right clothes. No other way around it.

Ha, good one! It reminded me of the other day when I read a thank-you note printed in the newspaper out loud just so my kids could hear…because the lady’s last name was Bublitz and my 9yo dd especially will always laugh at the boob word. But after the initial hideous cackle that flew from her she straightened back up and said “You mean like…?” and she held her fingers up in the shape of two really small circles, side by side. (do it!) You know…Bublitz, as in Booblets…as in tiny, miniatures, like piglets? We laughed our asses off the rest of the night, every time someone held up “The Sign”. OO.
Thanks for sharing.

No one can tell us, will us, pray us or wish upon us this priceless self-awareness. Within you is absolutely everything you need to realize your dreams- just like this - when you are ready you just open your hand and there it is. You are beautiful and such a gift of healing to others. I love reading Thursday Drive and through Jennifer I have found you. There are no coincidences are there? Namaste.

Oh, not everyone realizes it, not even me. I’ve been working on the garage for weeks, and I’ve barely made a dent.

I get tired, too. I keep telling him that if he had any idea what went on in my head about the house, he’d quit now. It’s a giant list, and I do what I can, but there are plenty of things I need help with, and I hate nagging. So I might mention something that I’d like done, and I might get a promise that it will get done, and then I’ll wait a few months (or more) before bringing it up again, and in the meantime he hasn’t even thought about it once while I’ve thought about it a thousand times.

So the other day when he said “I only have two or three hours of work to do on the dresser” (and this after about three years), I said “Which two or three hours? This year? Next?” And within a few minutes there it was, in the bedroom, and twenty-four hours later we have a bedroom that, while not perfect, is no longer embarrassing for guests to see. Not that we need a bedroom that’s a showpiece. But now I don’t care if someone wanders in.

Not only do I hate nagging, he’s had an undetermined health issue for the last year and a half that often leaves him dizzy/nauseous and tired. Plus he works two jobs (sometimes three), and who am I to add one more household thing on top of all that? And he does the yard work. And he often cooks. And there are the kids.

Was it good? I saw that drink at Starbucks the other day, but I’m on an even tighter budget than usual and I told myself that I probably wouldn’t like it because it would be too sweet.

Chai is exceptionally easy to make. Starbucks’s is pretty good, but it’s best from an Indian restaurant.

I tried something new from Starbucks yesterday. All the things I try are recommended by one of my stamping friends, who was here at a pajama party from 8-midnight last night. (Stamping.) I can’t remember the name, but it is hot chocolate with caramel and salt in it. Hearing about it made me think of a Pretzel Caramel Crunch from Andy’s (SGF), but it did not taste like that. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t get much of the salt flavor. I’ve never tried chai.

I want to do so many things to my house that I get tired just thinking about it. And in what 5-minute “free time” span would I do it in? So it always remains the same. But I’m prett impressed with 15 feet of books! And getting the piano out of the way.

You are right. First it probably would have played out like a one-way Jerry Springer show. Of course she would have been the one-way, but really, she couldn’t say anything to erase it, or make it understandable or anything. And she wouldn’t anyway.

I’m glad it melted away. Some things aren’t worth keeping.

The odds are pretty small, but I can think of two local news stories in which that actually happened.

If I get my way, a ginkgo will go in there. But it will have to be one of the smaller cultivars.

They should have different smileys, like Weight Watchers Online does, for different levels of success. When you’ve gained weight, the face is grim or frowning. When you’ve lost, it’s smiling.

I could not get to that link, but my guess is that in today’s world of “everyone needs affirmation” that it makes people feel better. That’s why it’s better to motivate yourself.
