Dubbed as the ‘Fashion Oscars’ by style.com, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards took place in New York last night, 3 June. As supermodels, celebrities, designers and editors gathered at the Lincoln Center for the ceremony, there was definitely some stand out looks.

Miranda Kerr wowed in Porenza Shcouler

Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima was perhaps my best dressed of the night in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci. The pixelated, purple, patterned top half of the dress contrasted massively with the sheer skirt below, and the simple hair and make-up didn’t detract from the overall effect.

Next who impressed was the latest Olsen to step into the limelight. Finally out of Mary-Kate and Ashley’s shadow, Elizabeth looked impeccable in a design by The Row - her older sisters’ line. Mary-Kate accompanied her sister and their all black outfits complimented each other perfectly.

Following Adriana’s lead, fellow Victoria’s Secret angel Candice Swanepoel looked incredible in AW13 Prabal Gurung. Perhaps a theme for the night, the effortless hair and make-up was the perfect juxtaposition to the edgy dress.

Finally, Nicole Richie wowed in a metallic, floor length Marc Jacobs gown. Paired with a red lip and sleeked back hair, Nicole has well and truly cemented herself a style queen. Gone are the days when she was Paris Hilton’s chubby, comical best friend.

Burberry Prorsum - Resort 2014.

In all honesty, the Resort collections never fill me with much excitement. Don't get me wrong, the clothes are often just as beautiful as ones shown at the main shows, I don't know what it is, I'm just not as drawn to it.

However, all this changed last week as I walked around the Burberry showroom and saw the Prorsum Resort 2014 collection. The Jane Birkin and Audrey Hepburn inspired pieces certainly have that wow factor. Heavily embellished eveningwear, intricate lace day dresses and a stunning lilac, fur bomber were all key looks in this wholesome collection.

Below I have highlighted some of my favourite looks, and what I find so special about them.

As men’s tailoring becomes ever more integral to the success of Burberry, Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey has responded with sharp tailoring options for women. This skinny black suit, for example, when paired with lace shirts and bright, jewel coloured accessories creates a stunning, modern work look. For those who are daring, the lace skirt is a modern take on the classic pencil skirt.

Now, Burberry wouldn't be where it is now without its impressive array of outerwear. In this collection, one particular wool topcoat really grabbed my attention. The coat’s simple lines and relaxed fit make it modern, and again, the purple bag keeps it fresh for spring. Adding to the idea that colours set the feel of a collection: navy and white always means nautical, candy-like pastels feature heavily in this collection giving an air of youth and playfulness. I love how the relaxed, mint green, knitwear juxtaposes the embellished skirt in the look below. I also feel the need to mention Charlotte Wiggins & Ava Smith, the beaut models.

Building on the mint green theme, there’s this stunning lace day dress which I can see on any Hollywood starlet. But don't worry ladies, all the lace pieces will be sold with a detachable lining (I hear a few sighs of relief). Continuing with the lace theme, this elegant evening coat would look incredible on anyone and over any gown… It’s in this piece that I really feel the Audrey Hepburn influence.

And finally, onto the eveningwear itself, where pieces incorporated both the cut out trend and the embellishment trend. Although the majority of pieces were black and white, there was also a rosey pink midi dress with ruched detail across the bust that was stunning (see above)! See my favourite pieces and the amazing lilac bomber below. Love the white python wedges too!

I know you all think I'm biased as I'm a Burberry employee, but I challenge anyone not to call this collection beautiful. Bravo Christopher!

Cannes 2013.

Last night saw the opening night of the 66th Cannes Film Festival, held in Cannes, France. The main event was the premiere of The Great Gatsby which, as I’m sure you already know, stars Leonardo Dicaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire and Isla Fisher.

Gatsby-mania may have swept across the world, but everyone’s eyes weren’t on the screen: they were on the red carpet.

20 year old model of the moment, Cara Delevingne looked breathtaking in a plunging, black silk and lace gown designed by Christopher Bailey at Burberry. She complimented the dress with Chopard diamonds… and a lot of them.

Two slightly more ‘mature’ attendees: Nicole Kidman and Julianne Moore, opted for Dior gowns with very similar silhouettes. Both dresses incorporated a tight bodice and a full, midi-skirt. Personally, I think Nicole has the edge on Julianne with the abstract, floral pattern. But I’ll let you decide for yourself.

Harry Potter starlet Emma Watson also made her first Cannes appearance this year. Looking young and on trend in a maroon, Christopher Kane, mini dress. Paired with simple hair, makeup and no jewellery, Watson really wowed for a Cannes novice.

Bailey nails Punk.

When the theme for this year’s Met Gala (Metropolitan Museum of Art Institute Gala) was announced, I wasn’t exactly excited. ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ does not scream glamour and, as we know, glamour is what I live for.

One designer however, managed to turn out three impeccably polished dresses for three of England’s finest. Cue fashion-heavyweight and a personal favourite of mine, Christopher Bailey at Burberry.

Best known as Lady Mary in Downton Abbey, Michelle Dockery looked stunning in a black, python-effect, leather midi dress with statement jewellery. My only complaint, perhaps Bailey could have been a little more adventurous. I mean this is the Met Gala. Now Burberry has brought its Beauty division in-house, it’s keen to prove just how great it can make women look. Dockery is the perfect canvas for this and looked stunning with a natural look and slight wave through her hair.

Model of the year, according to British Vogue, Cara Delevingne is the second slice of this Burberry dream. In contrast to Michelle’s makeup, Cara’s look was a lot more dramatic: black smoky eyes framed with a punk plait pulling her blonde locks to one side. The dress itself really played on the punk theme with an all over studded top and plunging neckline that revealed understated jewellery.

If you read my previous post about the Met Gala, you’ll know I’ve got a bit of a crush on Sienna Miller’s look. The overly studded, black leather jacket juxtaposed the backless, white evening gown perfectly. If the jacket wasn’t punk enough, Sienna’s hairpiece added more edge to the look. Although Burberry didn’t confirm her make-up was Burberry (she’s still under contract with Hugo Boss) she looked absolutely breathtaking… perhaps my favourite makeup of the night.

Although Givenchy was the most popular choice amongst celebrities for the event, I don’t feel any of the looks brought the punk theme hurtling into the 2010s the way Burberry’s looks did.

It’s that time of year again: the fashion Oscars.

That’s right, last night saw the Metropolitan Museum of Art transformed for the Met Gala: fashion’s most prestigious event. Every designer, every model and every celebrity attended the event to honour the launch of this year’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Exhibition Punk: Chaos to Couture.

Like the post for last year’s event, here’s my rundown of the top looks from the evening.

5. Kristen Stewart in Stella McCartney
Steering clear of the traditional gown, K-Stew’s maroon pantsuit gave the punk theme a modern edge. Complimented perfectly by matching eye makeup and sleek up-do, this look was certainly a step forward for everyone’s favourite heartbreaker.

4. Sienna Miller in Burberry Prorsum
What better way to showcase punk than an overly studded leather biker thrown over a white gown? Sienna, who is rumoured to be Burberry’s latest campaign star, looked effortless at the event and finished her look with a studded hair piece.

3. Rooney Mara in Givenchy Haute Couture
As one of the hosts of the evening, Rooney Mara had to make a statement. She did. Dressed in a white, Givenchy gown, this actress certainly started a media storm. Now, a white dress may not say punk to you, but her makeup certainly shouted it: check out the plum lip. She nailed it.

2. Kate Bosworth in Balmain
Bosworth almost made it onto my best dressed list last year in a feather, Prada mini dress. However this year she pulled out all the stops. Wearing a magenta Balmain mini dress with thick, gold waist belt, Ms. Bosworth brought punk hurtling into the 2010s.

1. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Gucci
The red carpet queen of last night has to be Brit-model/actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Wearing a Gucci gown, RHW looked absolutely breath-taking and undeniably sexy. However, it was an understated sexy. Despite having very little skin on show, the dress was revealing to say the least. I dare say women worldwide will now be wishing for smaller breasts!

Coachella 2013.

Coachella. I can't think of any other festival where what you wear is just as important as who you listen too. The annual festival has just drawn to a close in L.A and the celebs have definitely set the trends for any fashionable girl's summer wardrobe.

Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio attended this year's festival with her husband and friends.

The first trend that ruled Coachella was the colour white. Tops, day dresses, shoes, all appeared on celebrities and ordinaries alike. Kate Bosworth nailed the white trend with an embellished top and shorts set teamed with tan accessories and shoes.

Move over skirts, the next trend I picked up on was short shorts. You've already seen Bosworth's embellished pair now see Alexa Chung's khaki and cream striped pair. Also take note that both Chung and Bosworth's shorts match their tops.

Having previously mentioned the colour white, black was the key colour for some really chic, summer day-dresses. Here are a couple of my favourites, both styled perfectly:

Sticking with chic, black dresses and going back to Kate Bosworth, this was one of my favourite looks from the festival. Her use of a sheer skirt makes this an amazing take on the layering trend.

I'd also like to take the opportunity to share with you one of Katy Perry's looks. I usually find her style garish, but I believe she found the perfect compromise with this amazing two piece from Dolce & Gabbana's Spring/Summer 2013 runway. Fashion snaps for KP.

Hopefully I'll be taking some snaps myself next year, live from Coachella. I was so bummed not to go last year, but this year too!? It had best be third time lucky...

PFW, AW13.

That’s it: Fashion Weeks over for another season. The final week, Paris, has some of my favourite/chicest shows. Cue Raf Simons for Dior, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin and one of my all-time favourites Elie Saab for the final punch of glitz and glamour.

Before I get to the clothes, the Chanel runway itself needs a mention. As though looking at the world from space at night time, tiny LED lights represented real cities across the globe.

Christian Dior

Raf Simons has certainly made his mark on Dior. For his second prêt-à-porter collection, Raf referenced Andy Warhol stating Warhol as ‘someone everyone thinks they know.’ Delicate early Warhol sketches decorated apparel and accessories however this wasn’t what attracted me to the collection.

The classic Dior houndstooth was reworked into bustier tops and feminine suits, leather was the fabric du jour for eveningwear and monochrome ruled with hints or scarlet red and baby pink. These elements created, in my opinion, a sophisticated and elegant look at Dior which every woman should want to replicate.

Lanvin

This is always a show I buzz over and Alber Elbaz certainly didn’t let me down. Sticking to his signature gothic style, this collection embodied Parisian lifestyle with hints of a rebellious, American teen: prom dresses with motif necklaces juxtaposed the fluffy, chiffon shirts and style.com agrees.

This more playful side to the Lanvin girl kept gothic from becoming too dark. Florals made their way onto several pieces and the finale dress, instead of a dark colour, was pale champagne with tiara in tow – again referencing this American Homecoming Queen. As always desirable and impeccably cut.

Elie Saab

One can always rely on Elie Saab for heavily embellished, show stopping gowns that will no doubt make their way onto every major red carpet. Keeping the colour palette dark, Saab began the show with midi dresses, not dissimilar to a certain VB. But as the show progressed, signature Saab came into play.

Whether heavily embellished, or sheer the standard Elie Saab silhouette ruled the runway and frankly, I wouldn’t expect anything else. Long, figure-hugging and very glamorous are the adjectives used to describe this insanely good collection. Fashion snaps for Elie.

Emilio Pucci: The Best from Milan.

In my opinion, the collections out of Milan this season were poor. As I've stated in earlier posts, for me, a collection should be simple, chic but with a hint of glamour. I was beginning to lose hope entirely until Peter Dundas at Emilio Pucci sent a late 60s/early 70s inspired parade of simple glamour down the catwalk.

Super-short, super-tight mini dresses (a favourite of Dundas') were paired beautifully with thigh high, suede boots in tan and black or patent black stilettos. Shorts were also a key garment in the collection: from embellished to printed to plain, short-shorts were a staple on the Pucci runway.

Dundas famously said "I make clothes that women want to put on and men want to take off' - definitely get this feeling from the collection. There's nothing sexier than an extremely short, almost obscenely so, skirt with only a flash of flesh before the thigh high boots begin.

Further to the collection, I found the hair and make-up styling absolutely stunning. Simple, natural and bangs. 3 words that create the perfect beauty look.

There's definitely something about Cara Delevingne. She's everywhere! Dubbed as the new Kate Moss, this British model is all over the runways, magazine covers, editorials and style blogs. Now, the 20 year old has bagged her first fragrance campaign with Burberry whom she has had a good relationship since appearing on their Autumn/Winter 2011 runway.

There are times in a person’s career that they think ‘Yes. This is what all the hard work is for.’ Not to sound cliché, but I experienced that today. After years of loving the fashion industry and longing to attend a major catwalk show, today I attended the Burberry Prorsum Womenswear Autumn/Winter 2013 Show in Kensington Gardens, London.

A huge crowd of media and fans had gathered at the show space to catch a glimpse of their favourite VIPs.

The collection itself was stunning: modern interpretations of classic pieces – like the Menswear show in January. Texture was a massive trend at the show with rubber garments in camel and red, embellished accessories and clothing and animal prints printed onto many types of fabric. See my collection highlights below including a translucent rubber skirt over heart-print hot pants on Cara Delevingne, a snakeskin pencil skirt, a maroon rubber shift dress and a beautiful studded white 'warrior' dress worn by Jourdan Dunn.

Not only did I get to see the beautiful collection, I got to see some truly major celebrities. I got extremely close to Rita Ora and managed to get an amazing shot of her as she left the show. As well as Ora, guests included Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kate Beckinsale, Tinie Tempah and Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery. I was completely starstruck.

I will not forget this day in a hurry. The celebrities, the clothes, the models, the atmosphere were all amazing. I still feel on a high from it all. Hopefully it'll be the first of many that I'll get to attend!

NYFW, AW13.

With the menswear shows barely over in Paris, New York Fashion Week is well under way. The Autumn/Winter collections are my favourite. Luxurious, opulent fabrics and precise layering rule the runways that you scour for the perfect Winter coat.

And so it begins - David Beckham takes his seat alongside Anna Wintour for Victoria Beckham’s AW13 Show.

We’re only a couple of days in and there are already several collections to note:

1. Victoria Beckham

Posh Spice has done it again. Beginning the collection with elegant outerwear and closing with sharp tailoring, which referenced Saint Laurent’s ‘Le Smoking’, Victoria Beckham’s latest collection was a definite nod to menswear.

Amongst the pieces of outerwear were beautiful, even if expected, silhouette-hugging midi dresses. The juxtaposition between masculine and feminine really showed a progression in VB’s design skills.

2. Prabal Gurung

I’m usually one for classic designers, but Gurung has blown me away with his AW13 collection. Exquisite military tailoring began the collection in both khaki green and navy blue, each adorned with intricate imperial brocade – which to me looked incredible however style.com's Tim Blanks begs to differ. The imperial brocade trickled through to beautiful sweeps through the eveningwear. This collection will be on every celebrity's must-have list. Mark my words.

3. Donna Karan

If I’m being honest, I’ve never paid much attention to Donna Karan. The American designer has never produced anything that I’ve really loved, until now. Donna Karan is the master of drapery this season. With stunning embellished eveningwear and an amazing way of layering sheer with obtuse, this collection has really impressed me. Donna Karan is definitely now, and forever more, on my fashion radar.

4. Marc Jacobs

Up until now, like Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs' collections have never lit my fashion fuse. Although the individual garments were typical of Jacobs: cable knits, high-waisted briefs and architectural tailoring, the collection felt new and exciting. Every piece was wearable which is the main reason why this was my favourite collection from New York. Playing on textures, Marc Jacobs featured a mix of furs, silks, wools and heavily embellished sequin gowns - each as impressive as the next. Congratulations Marc, you've caught my attention.

5. Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren's collection, for me, screamed Gatsby Glamour. Hints of rich, opulent colours brightened up a nearly all-black collection. Velvet only added to the luxuriousness of the collection in emerald, sapphire, ruby and amethyst tones. My stand out piece was the sapphire blue, velvet halter neck dress with intricate neck detailing. Military influences also featured through tailoring, like at Prabal Gurung's show. Impeccably styled as always, the collection was another triumph for Ralph with each piece not only being wearable but desirable too.

6. Calvin Klein Collection

The Calvin Klein girls has changed: she's edgier, tougher and possibly 'in to' leather! Designer Fancisco Costa updated classic Klein silhouettes by belting them and, like Marc Jacobs, explored texture this season. Outerwear with exaggerated, almost mannish shoulders in wool contrasted beautifully against the sheen of leather skirts. It was great to see some familiar faces on the runway too: Carolyn Murphy, Elise Crombez and Hilary Rhoda all returned for the show.

Crayola Carpet.

Nude gowns and black gowns have dominated the red carpet for years. But last night, two awards ceremonies, and two VIPs in particular, provided a much needed break from this rather boring tradition with Spring/Summer’s hottest trend: bright, Crayola colours.

Across the pond in Los Angeles, the 55th GRAMMY Awards red carpet was stolen by an unexpected, ultra-feminine look from Rihanna. Wearing a scarlet red Azzedine Alaïa gown, the Barbadian songstress looked absolutely stunning and really stood out against the monochrome looks from Beyoncé, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Rowland et al.

In London, the 66th BAFTA Awards took place honouring art forms of the moving image - film, television and video games. My favourite look of the ceremony came from Marion Cotillard and her partnership with Christian Dior. Wearing Spring 2013 Haute Couture, the actress wowed in an acid yellow, strapless gown with discreet sheer panelling and relaxed peplum. Paired with Chopard jewellery, this truly was the perfect red carpet look.

These two looks demonstrate the ability colour has to transform your look from good to great. By taking risks, these two celebrities are sure to be featured on every best-dressed list across the world for weeks to come.

Best of Black

Although a bit on the safe side, the following black looks impressed me. I love the jumpsuit trend demonstrated by Sarah Jessica Parker in Elie Saab & Beyoncé and the sheer panelling of Kelly Rowland's dress. Also a note on Anne Hathaway's pre-fall Burberry Prorsum dress - just the right amount of bling.

What Kate did next.

As many models struggle to work after they hit 25, Kate has bagged herself Spring/Summer 2013 campaigns for Vivienne Westwood, Versace, Givenchy and Stuart Weitzman at the age of 39. Not only has she got some major campaigns this season, Moss is also the cover star of LOVE, i-D and W.

Fierce Gladiator: Kate for Versace SS13

There really is something special in the longevity of Kate Moss' career. There is more to her than undeniable beauty. As the tabloids pounced after she was discovered snorting cocaine, the fashion world were supporting her and willing her to make a come back. That kind of support comes from friends. Perhaps the secret to Kate's success is just that: friendship. In a fickle and sometimes intimidating industry, perhaps young Kate made her mark early on by simply being nice. I mean she is incredibly close with Marc Jacobs and wore John Galliano to her wedding, after he was sensationally sacked from Dior for anti-sematic remarks. This loyalty has evidently served her well and has kept the cash rolling in.

Personally, I can see her continuing to reign over other models until she's collecting her pension. And good on her, can't say I'm not proud that a Brit girl is showing everyone how it's done.

Burberry x Jake Bugg.

Known for nurturing emerging British talent, Burberry has launched its latest venture: Live at 121 Regent Street. In partnership with its Burberry Acoustic programme, Live at 121 Regent Street will showcase British talent at the brand’s London flagship store. The first event took place on Thursday 31 January where Brit-nominated musician Jake Bugg played songs from his acclaimed, self-titled debut album, which reached number 1 in the UK Album Chart.

Like any other Burberry event, the guestlist was impressive with the cream of the London social scene attending. British actors Jack Whitehall, Gemma Chan, Harry Treadaway and Bonnie Wright mingled with models Cara Delevingne and Amber Le Bon. The brand’s Chief Creative Offive (CCO) Christopher Bailey was also there, showing his support for the 18 year old musician.

At 38 years old, Victoria Beckham has just landed a cover models half her age would want. Following in husband David's footsteps, VB covers the March 2013 issue of ELLE (UK) - and it is possibly the best she has ever looked.

As a Burberry intern, it's safe to say there has been a massive buzz about the office over this cover for several days.

Spring 2013 Couture.

With the couture shows complete for Spring 2013, I have a few favourites to share with you. Personally, Couture for me means glamour, ultra-feminine and luxurious.

Chloë Moretz arrives in Paris for the Dior show.

For these reasons, my #1 Couture show for Spring 2013 is Elie Saab. By mixing both sparkling and matte textures with opaque and sheer panelling, the entire collection was an absolute feast on the eyes. The sparkle came from the extravagant beading and embellishments which, under the flashbulbs of the media, looked even more opulent as they went down the runway. The thin layers of matte organza gave a perfect juxtaposition to the beading, balancing out each piece beautifully. Below are my collection highlights:

It's funny how some brands fall off your radar for a few seasons but Valentino is definitely, in my opinion, back. After a faultless Menswear collection for AW13, the Spring Couture show was just as impressive. Again organza was the fabric du jour, with metres of the stuff creating beautiful, architectural gowns. The colour palette was largely black and off-white, but it wouldn't be a Valentino show without a splash of Valentino red! It was hard to choose my favourite pieces, but take a look at a few below:

Valentino also featured some beautiful floral pieces - see the full collection on Style.com - which was a massive theme at both Christian Dior and Chanel. The fashion giants seemed to go down similar routes this season: both went for sets inspired by nature, at Dior wigs were used and at Chanel there were dramatic headpieces and the prints and colour choices also seemed particularly similar. Overall, a beautiful set of collections (minus Versace - don't get me started on the bright pink fur) with some key trends: sheer, embellishment & floral. Can't wait to see if any looks get picked for the Oscars which are mere weeks away!

Cover Queen: Jennifer Lawrence.

Move over Emma Stone, there's a new starlet that is making serious waves in the fashion industry. Cue Kentucky born Jennifer Lawrence. With a face which is reminiscent of 1950s Hollywood Glamour, Lawrence is bagging editorials and covers left, right and centre and it doesn't take a genius to see why.

If you've got it flaunt it. Jennifer has 'it' in buckets.

In 2011, Jennifer Lawrence became the youngest actress in history - at the time - to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in Winter's Bone, many consider this to be her breakout performance. Fast forward two years and she has done it again, nominated for the same award for her portrayal of a recovering sex addict in Silver Linings Playbook alongside Bradley Cooper, Lawrence is certainly proving she's a force to be reckoned with.

This red carpet appearance alone was worthy of an Oscar: Lawrence KILLING it in Calvin Klein Collection at the 83rd Academy Awards.

W, American Elle, British Vogue, Vanity Fair... the list is endless! Since her launch into the spotlight, Jennifer Lawrence has covered many a fashion bible and each time has shown, as she does in her film roles, a completely different side to her.

Below I have listed a few of my personal Jennifer Lawrence highlights:

Mature: A serious Lawrence proves she's no child-star on the cover of American Elle.

Killer smile: With 2 Oscar nominations under her belt, Lawrence has plenty to smile about.

The Body: Wearing a Dolce & Gabbana one-piece for German Interview.

Demure: A much softer side of Lawrence captured for British Vogue.

To be nominated twice for the Academy Award for Best Actress and to have won a Golden Globe for Best Actress by your 22nd birthday is not something many Hollywood A-listers can say. There's something special about Jennifer Lawrence and I have a feeling we'll be hearing that name for many years to come.

Perhaps my last post, AW13 Menswear Roundup, was a little premature. A couple more collections have emerged from the Paris catwalks that have really caught my eye. Long-standing favourite Lanvin kept the tailoring trend up with sculptural suits in subtle tones. More architectural suits came down the runway at Dior Homme and the cinched waist was a new, interesting silhouette for men.

As stated earlier, tailoring was a key theme at the Lanvin show and Alber Elbaz really exaggerated silhouettes showing oversized jackets with large lapels in grey tones and my favourite: rust. Speaking of colour, there were similar key colours at Lanvin as there was at Fendi: lots of black and grey with splashes of neutral, earthy tones - definitely my favourite, so chic. Another highlight in the collection was an ink blue leather shirt. Ink blue really is going to be big next season.

Kris Van Assche presented a beautiful monochrome collection over at Dior Homme. Blue was the only colour featured apart from the blood red, cult symbols on a few of the pieces. The collection, which referenced Andrew Niccol's Gattaca, was "fashion for tomorrow" according to Van Assche. Adhering to the 'skinny fit' trend, some of the looks were cinched in at the waist in true Dior style, however the look was not feminine just architectural and on the whole, beautiful.

AW13 Menswear Roundup.

With the Burberry Prorsum show out the way, this past week I have turned my attention to some other collections and have definitely seen a few must-haves. My personal style is more classic than avant-garde so my main focus has been long established brands.

Tommy Ton was at hand, capturing the best Street Style at the shows.

In Milan, Gucci set the tone for tailoring with a mix of herringbones and houndstooths in bold, monochrome colours. As the 'skinny fit' is still the key look in tailoring, Frida Giannini (Gucci's Creative Director) cut suits to sit only slightly loose of the models' skin. As outerwear is perhaps the most vital garment in an Autumn/Winter collection, Gucci didn't disappoint with a range of overcoats in an array of colours. My favourite has to be the houndstooth piece with black shearling collar. The show ended with the usual parade of evening suits and as ink blue was a key colour in the collection, one suit used this colour and the result was amazing.

Another show that exceeded my expectations in Milan was Salvatore Ferragamo. Those who know me know that I am a sucker for a cable knit. Just as I thought I was running out of options, Ferragamo send a leather option down the runway - must. have. Another piece which I instantly eyed up was a black bomber jacket with a deep fur collar. Carrying on the ink blue theme, the final look at the show was an overcoat over black leather trousers. Whoever said black and navy shouldn't be worn together needs to see this show!

The last collection in Milan that impressed me was Fendi. Admittedly, the first looks were not my cup of tea, however as some taupe coloured outfits made their way down the runway, my feelings instantly changed. Another cable knit, this time asymetric, was put beautifully with fur boots and suit pants - perfect for a Winter smart casual look. Then an overcoat with fur trim also caught my eye as it lay across the shoulders of a fine knit. Another look which I need is a darker taupe, marl effect jumper which was paired with some printed formal trousers - another item I will be chanelling come Autumn.

Moving to Paris, the Valentino show absolutely blew me away. Going back to the ink blue trend, Valentino played with textures by mixing leather and wool to create very interesting pieces of outerwear. Document cases was the accessory du jour, complimenting the colours and tones of the individual outfits. Instead of houndstooth, a more simple plaid was used on some pieces of tailoring and outerwear bringing some light to an altogether dark and serious collection - perfect for those dark Winter nights.

To summarise, I thought I'd give an indication of trends to buy into when the time comes. First up is ink blue. From suits at Gucci to outerwear at Ferragamo, this is a trend that will definitely trickle its way down into the high street so make sure you get a few pieces in it. Next, like seasons before, is the skinny suit which should also appear in many men's wardrobes. This time, maybe buy a double-breasted suit in an interesting fabric. Another trend that I've noticed in many collections is texture. Be it rubber, leather or fur, invest in interesting textures to make sure your Autumn/Winter 2013 wardrobe is right on trend.

Nicola Roberts: Style Evolution.

Once upon a time, little Nicola Roberts from Runcorn, Cheshire was the underrated member of a new girl band of 'typical beauties'. When stood next to Cheryl Cole et al, it's no wonder that Nicola became a shrinking violet after being taunted by the press and even in some cases fellow celebrities (Yes, you Chris Moyles). 10 years on and Nicola is now a force to be reckoned with in the fashion stakes and after stepping away from the St. Tropez, Roberts has truly evolved into the red hot siren she was born to be.

Where it all began: 2002 - Nicola was voted in to 'Girls Aloud' on the TV show 'Popstars: The Rivals'. A show unlike any other. as two groups would reach the final, one male and one female, but only one would be crowned Christmas No.1 and ultimately the winners of the show.

After being told by one of the show's producers, Nicola took to spray tans just to fit in with the other girls.

In the early years of Girls Aloud, by trying to blend in, Nicola got lost in the band. She became another tanned beauty in a sea of perfect popstars. It wasn't until the Biology music video that Roberts stepped away from the tan.

From blending in to standing out - It's evident that Nicola's Confidence also grew.

During 'The Passions of Girls Aloud' television programme, Nicola created her own make up range for pale skin. 'Dainty Doll' is now available nationwide and is a massive success with users often tweeting Nicola with their purchases. Around the same time, Girls Aloud released 'Tangled Up' and Nicola was clearly much more confident in her own skin as the album cover shows:

Can I just draw your attention to Nicola's figure? I'm going to put it out there: best in the band!

During their three year hiatus, Nicola undertook many solo projects including her album, working with Rihanna on 'Styled to Rock, her make up range and passing the law that no person under the age of 18 may use a sun bed in the UK.

Now always smiling, Nicola Roberts has grown up in front of us.

Nicola is an inspiration for so many people that she deserved her own post. Looking back to 2002, Nicola who was only 16, has transformed herself into a role model that even Rihanna had to be involved with. I can't wait for the Girls Aloud reunion tour, hopefully Nicola will be rocking some incredible outfits that once again will set her apart from the rest.

Miranda Kerr Reigns On.

At the very end of 2011, I stated that Miranda Kerr was my style queen for the year. Now 2012 has drawn to a close, it's safe to say that Aussie beaut continues to rule over us mere mortals. Whether it's street style, red carpet events or walking the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Kerr works every look - dimples in tow.

Even whilst carrying offspring, Miranda looks chic, sophisticated and collected. One of my favourite looks from 2012 was a black tailored coat, dress and knee-high boots paired with a Givenchy tote. Another outfit favourite of Kerr's is oversized sunglasses, to achieve her look, these are a must!

It's not always Flynn that is Miranda's arm candy: her puppy Frankie often completes her outfit, like with this navy ensemble. The sheer shirt transforms an ordinary outfit into something that is perfect for day-to-night transition. Her simple court shoes add the elegance Kerr is now known for.

As a model, Miranda Kerr must have a wardrobe to rival that of Carrie Bradshaw. However, it's sometimes the most of simple outfits that are the most stunning. Matched with a baby blue Prada bag, this ivory dress screams 50s screen siren and is perfection on Miranda. (Note the shoes from before - even celebrities have their favourite items.)

By keeping a simple colour palette to her outfits, Miranda has nailed the off-duty model look on countless occasions. This oversized red cardigan and red courts works perfectly with the black leather bag and pants. The red of the outfit is also highlighted in her frames - see what I mean about Kerr's sunglasses obsession?

The last look I have chosen for this post (although there are countless others which I have loved) shows Miranda once again with son Flynn. The oversized coat balances out the skinny jeans and the red court shoes add a pop of colour to an otherwise subtle outfit. The fashion 'top-knot' is also quick way to make unkept hair on trend.

Will Miranda hold onto her style crown for the next 12 months? Judging by her stunning appearance at the InStyle Golden Globes party, I'd say she is going to be extremely hard to beat.

Burberry Prorsum Menswear, AW13.

Happy New Year all! Sorry for the lack of posts over the Christmas period - as you can see, I've been really working on the layout of my blog so you all can access posts easier. Please give me your feedback as it's much appreciated!

2013 has begun with a bang. The men's fashion weeks kicked off last week in London and have now moved on to Milan and Paris. So far, there has been one stand out show. Perhaps I am biased as I intern there, but the Burberry show really gave me everything a collection should. The collection, entitled 'I <3 Classics', revolutionised the trench coat and the way we look at animal print.

Rubber. Perhaps the most unconventional trench coat material used to date. But, if you think about it, it makes sense: rubber is totally waterproof! The rubber trench may look like a thing of the future, but Christopher Bailey is making it current.

I mentioned animal print before as the show was filled with it. From leopard to giraffe, coats and accessories were covered in exotic prints. For the more daring of you out there, you could try a leopard trench or if like me, you would never choose something so 'in your face', how about a leopard print show or iPad case?

Like many preceding Burberry shows, military was a key theme running throughout many of the looks. This wool blend trench coat is a beautiful garment that will bring a historic trend into 2013 and the wine messenger bag compliments it perfectly.

VSFS '12.

How do you beat the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2011, where Jay Z and Kanye West, Maroon 5 and Nicki Minaj all performed? Well, cue this year's spectacular where Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars all took to the catwalk alongside VS veterans Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio and Doutzen Kroes, to name but a few.

The first segment, inspired by the circus, was opened up by Ringmaster Adriana Lima and featured Joan Smalls in lingerie representative of a tiger jumping through rings of fire (yes, really) and Miranda Kerr as a super-sexy showgirl. Although not my favourite section in the show, some of the outfits were really imaginative.

Miranda Kerr stole the show in the Circus segment.

This year's fantasy bra, worn by Alessandra Ambrosio, made its appearance in the final segment. This segment, 'In Bloom', included some of the most beautiful wings I have seen in any of the Victoria's Secret shows.

It was also nice to see more British models take to the traditionally American vs. Brazilian runway. Lily Donaldson, Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn all flew the Union Jack with pride.It just so happens that luxury British fashion house Burberry seem to like similar girls as VS. All three English models that featured in the 2012 show have been the face of Burberry Beauty along with former VS Angel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

I for one can't wait for the show to air on December 4th. I know I'll be glued to my screen... or catwalking up and down my room.

Disney, Designers & Dresses.

When I heard that Harrods was contacting designers to create gowns for the most famous Disney Princesses, I got pretty giddy. Now that all ten sketches have been released, I'm still pretty giddy. The dresses are all to be part of the luxury department store's Christmas theme.

Some of the dresses really took some Disney classics into the 20th Century, see Pocahontas. Whereas some of the dresses were the original Disney designs, slightly altered for that ultimate classic look, see Snow White. Either way, the collection is the perfect balance of modern and traditional and I'll definitely be mooching to Harrods for a closer look.

Classy vs. Trashy.

I don't understand some girls and their need to fit this orange, bodycon mould. Glorified by the cast of The Only Way is Essex et al., there has been a sharp rise in barely there outfits, fake tan and eyelashes so thick that they could set of a wind turbine with a single blink. But why? With fashion icons such as Victoria Beckham dressing sophisticatedly and still looking incredibly sexy, ladies everywhere should have guys begging for more by showing relatively nothing.

Instead of giving it to guys on a plate, why not let their imagination do the leg work?

Here's my breakdown of how to keep it classy but not frumpy and sexy without looking like a streetwalker, or worse, a TOWIE cast member...

1. It has to fit: muffin tops, 4 breasts... you know what I mean. Not hot. By making sure your clothes fit, there'll be no unsightly overhangs or bulges. Take Christina Aguilera. She's recently gained a bit of weight but it seems she's still wearing the same size dresses. By wearing a size to small, she appears even bigger than she actually is.

Admittedly Herve Leger dresses are difficult for anyone to wear, but if Xtina had opted for a dress that fitted her properly, we wouldn't have the muffin top mis-hap.

By avoiding bandgae, Kim Kardashian looks super sexy in this prefectly fitting, red lace dress. Note the length too.

2. No to neon: Although neons are 'in' at the moment there are some that take it to the extreme. There are ways of spicing up an outfit without looking like trash. Christian Louboutin has brought out some neon shoes this season. Team them with a monochrome outfit and you have a winning look.

Don't get me wrong, I love Cheryl Cole. But this outfit looks so cheap. Imagine if the dress was black and maroon, that'd make it bearable!

Kristen Stewart absolutely NAILS the look by keeping the rest of her outfit relatively plain.

3. Styling is key: Even an amazing dress can be ruined by bad styling. A pony tail or chignon is a way of keeping an outfit classy and definitely not trashy. Also, unkept hair extensions are one of the biggest bains of my life! If they need replacing either take them out or hide them!

This Zuhair Murad dress looked stunning on K.Stew, but i really wish she'd gone for a high pony tail. It would have made the look so much more polished.

At this year's Met Gala, Kate Bosworth looked incredible in feather Prada dress but the simple top knot made the look so much more elegant.

So there you have it, my take on how to keep your look classy. First of all, make sure your clothes fit and are appropriate for your figure, keep colour palettes relatively muted but do add pops of colour and finally make sure you look polished - it takes 5 seconds to give your self a fierce high pony!
