I plan to keep up the regular video logs of my not so normal life. Here is another glimpse of my daily routine and glimpses of my work as a missionary in Guatemala. It feels a bit funny to frequently be talking to a camera in public, but I hope it gives you an idea of what goes on. I look forward to showing you more of those I work with, the people I get to serve, and a bit of this unusual life.

VLOG 1 July 12 2015 from Paul Jones on Vimeo.

As I have been actively working toward establishing air ambulance service here in Northern Guatemala, I have also been doing quite a bit of flying in support of other mission organizations. One of those is Jungle Breezes Youth Ministries (JBYM). JBYM is a new ministry in Northern Guatemala. The founder has lived almost his entire life here in Northern Guatemala, raised as a missionary kid and continuing to do ministry here. God has encouraged he and his family to start this new ministry to better the lives of young Guatemalan men, and in doing so, point them to the hope found in Jesus Christ. JBYM is in the development stage, and currently has two support families living on the property in a very remote area. They are preparing the property to begin service soon. The property is in a very remote area of the country, disconnected from everything including basic utilities and medical facilities. The nearest town is an hour and a half boat ride or a three hour truck ride away. This town is small and only has a basic national hospital. They are located 5 hours away from my town with more access to supplies and better medical care. Furthermore, they are located 15 hours drive from the capitol, Guatemala City. Needless to say, when teams, personnel, and supplies need to come from the capitol, it is a huge effort. The airplane cuts this travel down to 30 minutes from my town and 90 minutes from the capitol. Thanks to the ministry of Missionary Air Group, JBYM staff now have far better access to basic needs such as modern medical care and emergency evacuation flights.

Newsletter Winter 2014

 Newsletter Winter 2014 by paulwesjones

I have been settling into life here in Northern Guatemala since the middle of September. I have begun work establishing the air ambulance program, but much of my time so far has been revolving around figuring out my new world here. I live in San Benito, Peten, Guatemala. The three cities of San Benito, Santa Elena, and the island tourist town of Flores, all run into one another to form essentially one city. They are located on the south side of a large lake in the middle of the Peten department (state). The population of the three cities combined is approximately 30,000. Take a look at some of the sights and sounds around this area.

Newsletter Summer 2012

Newsletter Summer 2012
I have been keeping busy during the few months between completion of work on the modifications to MAG's Cessna 206 and Language Training. I recently spent a couple weeks volunteering for Agape Flights, a Christian mission organization based out of Venice, FL. Agape serves houndreds of mission families in Hait, Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas through the air transportation of need supplies and goods. They opperate an Embraer 110 Bandeirante Turboprop aircraft which can haul 300lbs of cargo where needed. Recently, an extensive manditory inspection came due on the aircraft. It required manpower above and beyond Agape's sole mechanic, Greg Haman. I joined Greg and a former MMS cooworker, Scott Grote, to help speed the inspection. Watch the video to learn more about this big inspection.

I recently returned from short trip to Central America where I spent 2 weeks performing aircraft maintenance on one of MAG's aircraft in Honduras, and I also spent 1 week scouting my field of operation in Guatemala. I first went to Rus Rus, Honduras. This small village, located in far eastern Honduras, is one of the locations where my organization, MAG, has a full time operation. About one year ago, MAG began operating a small hospital here which provides some of the only health care for the people of this region of Honduras. Here is a short video highlighting the hospital at Rus Rus

Sportsman STOL Part 2

Sportsman STOL Part 2 from Paul Jones on Vimeo.

Continuing on with the Sportsman STOL mod. I'll show a brief review and then some new footage as this project takes shape. This mod helps to operate in short remote dirt and grass strips.

Project #1 Sportsman STOL

STOL Project #1 from Paul Jones on Vimeo.

Project #1: Sportsman STOL Modification

Project #1: Sportsman STOL Modification from Paul Jones on Vimeo.

Introducing the Two Newest MAG Team Members!

Introducing the Two Newest MAG Team Members. from Paul Jones on Vimeo.

MMS Training Staff Aviation Instructor's Handbook Intro Video

MMS Training Staff Aviation Instructor's Handbook Intro Video from Paul Jones on Vimeo.

One of the purposes of MMS is to prepare "People" for worldwide mission service. Once a month the training staff gathers to discuss important details of the training environment at MMS. In an effort to enhance the instruction offered by the training staff, we are presenting the material found in the Aviation Instructor's Handbook to the training staff. This handbook is published by the Federal Aviation Administration. It contains key fundamentals used in teaching properly. Here is a creative video used to highlight key concepts from the first chapter of the handbook.

Air Calvary Wing Road Trip

Air Calvary Wing Road Trip from Paul Jones on Vimeo.

Asas de Socorro Floats #4

Asas Float Gear Swing from Paul Jones on Vimeo.

Asas de Socorro Floats #3

Asas de Sacorro Floats #3 from Paul Jones on Vimeo.
