When we met Megan and Paul they were admittedly shy about having their photos taken professionally. We reassured them that the more naturally they interacted the better the shots would be. Once we began to shoot we immediately settled into a groove and took some wonderful candid shots of them under the centuries old live oaks, at the Battery. We then took a stroll down Church St. and hit a few of our favorite spots. As we were walking down to S. Adger’s Wharf, we got lucky because it was low tide, allowing us to climb down the sea wall, and take a few shots on the tiny exposed beach off of East Bay St. in front of the beautiful Antebellum mansions lining the Battery, which turned out spectacular, especially the HDR image we took of them. Eventually, we made our way back to White Point Gardens and took a few final shots as the sun set in the park taking advantage of the beautiful light falling through the trees.

When we arrived at Tidewater Chapel for Alisha and Brette’s wedding the excitement was palpable, and we knew right away that we were in for a fun-filled evening. Alisha and Brette’s family and friends welcomed us and really made us feel right at home. By the time we began shooting everyone was so comfortable with us that it felt like we were part of the family, which as any photographer will attest is the best way to get great natural-looking images.

Leigh and Brandon’s wedding at Pepper Plantation began with the typical Charleston afternoon showers. Leigh and Brandon, as well as most of their guests, were from out of town and they were not familiar with the idiosyncrasies of LowCountry weather. However, I knew that it would shortly turn into beautiful sunny day (with a little help from dopplar radar on the phone), and I reassured the bride that I had left a message with the man upstairs and he promised to clear the skies for her wedding. After a nice laugh and a few glasses of champagne the sun began to peak through the clouds and before we knew it the rain and clouds were gone and the sun was out.

After the reception Leigh and Brandon invited us to join the wedding party at the WindJammer on the Isle of Palms where we convinced the band to allow them on stage for a warm Charleston welcome. What a way to end your wedding day.

From the moment Alisha arrived at the Battery for her bridal shoot, we knew we were going to get some stunning images. She came well prepared with several shoe changes and a few friends to help her with her beautiful wedding dress. At first, she warned us that she was not sure what she should do or how to pose, but once we began shooting, she took to it like a pro. She needed very little direction and before long you could have sworn she was a professional model. By days end, we found ourselves with tons of beautiful images, and without a doubt we knew we had nailed this shoot.
