By now it is no secret - I like the old stuff and I like quality stuff ("Stuff" is a lousy word but you know what I mean). I can't say how good the Blaupunkt radio's are today, I can say that when they were produced in the 60's/70's and 80's they were as good (better) than any auto radio made (ok, Becker made a pretty good radio, along with Grundig and a few others.....Sony?, Panasonic? .... who?, what?, whatever? haha). This is a favorite site of mine to surf into from time to time (oldautoradio) ... see link below. They sell NOS, refurbished/used classic radios from the 60's/70's/80's. I found this pretty interesting, a Blaupunkt Frankfurt which if I understand correctly made specifically for the BMW 2002 with integral speaker - cool. I may have seen this in a car at some point but don't recall. It is certainly nice to have music in your car, however cutting door panels/doors to mount speakers there or cutting holes in the rear shelf to mount speakers there...no, no, no (IMO) and this arrangement totally solves the problem. Lets face it the cockpit of an o2 is pretty small and unless you are of small stature or are a "kid" not that much room in the back seat. That said, I did make a speed run with four of my college friends to Lake Tahoe in my o2 when I was in college so it can work (front seats way forward and shifting is a challenge). Bottom line, with this application assuming you have a quality speaker probably isn't too bad from a sound standpoint.<i check="" 6'4"="" am="" auto="" forward="" front="" good).="" great="" have="" not="" old="" out="" radio's="" radios.="" really="" school="" seat="" site="" so="" some="" tall="" they="">
<i check="" 6'4"="" am="" auto="" forward="" front="" good).="" great="" have="" not="" old="" out="" radio's="" radios.="" really="" school="" seat="" site="" so="" some="" tall="" they="">
It was a pretty tame Christmas this year on the "present" front, I did however pick this item up for myself - I couldn't help myself - a NOS BMW 2002 / Ti / Tii Abarth Exhaust system, consisting of the center resonator portion and rear twin tip muffler, complete with all original stickers (as well as German TUV plates). Heard about them many (many) years ago, but had never seen one ( in photo's or live ). I have to tell you this thing is solid - as far as helping your car on weight - this is not the item, no idea how much center resonator weighs, but it is HEAVY. This will likely be used on a "future" street car project. Below is a snippet of information on Carlo Abarth from Wikipedia.

"Carlo Abarth began his well-known association with Fiat in 1952, building the Abarth 1500 Biposto upon Fiat mechanicals.In the 1960s, Abarth & C. S.r.l was quite successful in hillclimbing and sports car racing, mainly in classes from 850cc up to 2000cc, competing with Porsche 904 and Ferrari Dino. Hans Herrmann was a factory driver from 1962 until 1965, winning the 500km Nürburgring in 1963 with Teddy Pilette Later, Johann Abt was promised by Carlo Abarth that he could drive a factory car for free if he won all the races he entered—which Abt nearly did, winning 29 of 30, the 30th being in second. Along with its racing cars, Abarth produced high-performance exhaust pipes. Later, Abarth diversified in producing various tuning kits for road vehicles, mainly for Fiat. While there were many competitors in this segment, such as Giannini, Abarth has largely dominated the Italian tuning market since the sixties. Abarth was also associated in producing sports or racing cars with Porsche and Simca. Abarth was sold to Fiat on July 31, 1971, and the racing team sold to Enzo Osella. Abarth became the racing department of Fiat, managed by famed engine designer Aurelio Lampredi.
Seriously, having been ripped off myself more than once on Ebay it drives me crazy sometimes when I see people blatantly pushing (selling or trying to sell) knock-off's as genuine articles. I have posted more ALPINA steering wheel pictures and auctions than probably anyone else anywhere else (not sure that is the greatest bragging right). At any rate, the top three images are of a genuine 38cm ALPINA 3-spoke steering wheel. It isn't complicated. The "ALPINA" font used in the engraving is consistent with what was produced in this period, and the "MoMo - Made in Italy is on the back side of the spoke. These early wheels also had painted spokes as opposed to the black anodized spokes which is the finish on the modern MoMo wheels.The bottom three (3) images are of a so-called "uber rare" (knock-off) being sold as the genuine article. The images are pretty poor, however it appears to be a 35cm MoMo 3-spoke wheel that has been engraved with "ALPINA" and given an ALPINA horn button. The following is the link to the genuine 38cm wheel - I won't bother with the imitation. Most of the time I ignore stuff like this, however this is the 2nd one I have seen being sold by the same seller and if memory serves me right someone threw done some $$$ for the first one. Buyer always beware.

This pan was completely different than the one they cast for the canted motor. You will notice the various connections going in and out for the Dry Sump System. Just above where the pan fastens to the block you can just see the dry sump pump and drive gear.

Looking down at the slide throttle. This was the same manifold as used in F2 cars as the motor was mounted straight up and down.

This had to be one really "tired" motor based on the way it looks. You will note here bottom right the dry sump pump (hoses coming out and drive gear) and to the left is the water pump. These "F2" style motors utilized the SCHNITZER lower timing cover which was cast in magnesium and had special provision for a 6 cylinder type water pump. Top right is additional breathing added for the cylinder head/engine, top right is the mechanical tachometer drive driven off the intake cam.

My ALPINA car for whatever reason has the oil cap - could be they started with a wet sump system (or maybe that is just what the cylinder head came with). These are some of the before images of Sam's Grp. 5 car/engine, the car and the engine are all done now...and it is a thing of beaurty I will say. Generally speaking, this is what you would expect when you get something "used", on the positive side it was all there and nothing to my knowledge was wrecked.
