HTF: Hey! Right, so to kick it off, let’s chat about the current tour. You’ve been doing a lot of instore signings before shows, have you been given and weird or random presents by anyone?

Mike: I haven’t had any presents this time around! Usually, back in the States, people bring us candy and what not and for a while we were drinking a lot of Yoo-Hoo which is like a chocolate drink so a lot of people were bringing us that. We’ve had many drawings, some of which are really good and some are… not. We have had some weird ones, I promise you.

HTF: A lot of the shows you’ve done on this current tour have sold out so are you planning to do anything bigger in the near future?

Mike: Well we’ve already done the Bring Me The Horizon tour in 2011 as well as Download Festival, so we’re definitely trying to focus more on Europe and the UK. We’re putting more concentration on it now and we’re always on the look out for support tours.

HTF: Are you planning to play any more UK festivals this year?

Mike: This year I think we’re just having a break and waiting until 2013 but we’ll be trying to get over here on our next chance.

HTF: I’ve seen that the band has released a new  app, Zombie Slay. It’s a pretty cool and different  thing for a band to do!

Mike: Yeah, we have a app for the Iphone and now android too. It’s a slash game with different weapons and levels and it basically goes along side with the Zombie EP and comicbook. The story is like a prequil to the story. It’s really in depth and took us ages to finish but we’re really happy with it.

HTF: I saw somewhere that you guys have an interest in shark boats? What is that?

Mike: Oh haha. It was for something called ‘WTF Wednesdays’ and we have to chat about what we’ve been up to on the internet and favourite YouTube videos and stuff. We found this website called ‘This Is Why I’m Broke…’ and it’s just loads or really clever gifts and novely products. One was a shark that was a submarine and it was like $65,000 and they have sharks, dolphins, killerwhales and stuff and we all wanted to get one.

HTF: Can you actually fit a person in it?!

Mike: Yeah yeah! Like it’s a real submarine!

HTF: You don’t need a tour bus anymore. Just tour in them! Personal scuba suits and everything.

Mike: Yeah we talked about that, doing like a costal tour down the East and West coast of the states. We have a lot of ideas like that..

HTF: You’ve just released the album ‘Dead Throne’ not too long ago, but are you already planning any more recordings?

Mike: Not yet. We’ve started filming a dvd on our last tour but that still needs a lot of finishing. We’re just going to fill up this year with loads of shows and tours. Just pushing our most recent record out more really.

Tommy Lee sued over $400,000

Sullivan claims to of been Lee‘s  ”procurer, Man Friday, chauffeur, guide, bookkeeper, attendant, door-keeper, agent, butler, valet, attendant, cook, shopper, nanny, bodyguard, maid, nurse and nursemaid” from January 2005 until March 2011. He  filed a lawsuit against both Lee and Lee‘s company Mayhem Touring, in Los Angeles Superior Court back in November 2011, claiming that he worked all hours of the day and was given massive deductions from his paycheck. Sullivan also pointed out and made claims that after he was terminated, he became the tour manager of the band BUSH but lost that job because of  ”Lee‘s defamatory statements and interference”.

“Lee found Sullivan so useful that he required him to stay at his residence so that he was always available for service,” the suit said. “However, after requiring Sullivan to stay at the home and obtaining the benefits of Sullivan‘s presence in his home, in 2009, Lee began deducting $1,000 from his wages every month for ‘rent’”.

Kasabian have posted a demo for a new song on their website. The track follows the posting of the 44-second long, tongue in cheek, ‘Table Tennis Boom Box’ which was recently posted. The new track ‘Narcs’ a piano led psychedelic inspired piece harks back in style to 3rd album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.

Earlier this month Kasabian front man Tom Meighan stated there was a “drought” of rock’n'roll bands in the charts.

Meighan said:

“There’s a rock’n'roll drought at the moment, so I’m glad we’re here. People are frightened of making records that sound good on the radio.”

Sergio Pizzorno has also been working on the soundtrack to ‘Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy’ and recently stated a spin-off album and tour could be in the works. These two new tracks are of the same style as the music for that show. With ‘Tennis Boom Box’ featuring a ping pong ball as a percussive instrument.

There’s no news as to an official release to either song. Kasabian released their fourth studio album, ‘Velociraptor!’, in September last year.

Public Image Ltd. have announced a pair of dates at London’s Heaven club. The gigs on the 1st and 2nd of April will follow on from PiL’s already sold out special guest live performance as part of BBC Radio 6 Birthday celebrations at Queen Elizabeth Hall on March 16th.
The gigs come in support of a new album and EP. The first material from the group in 20 years. The EP ‘One Drop’ is released in conjunction with national record store day on April 21st with the full length album ‘This Is PiL’ following on May 28th. Live favourites such as ‘Rise’, ‘This Is Not A Love Song’ and ‘Flowers Of Romance’ are also likely to be performed according to the band’s website.

Lead track ‘One Drop’ from the EP of the same name was given an exclusive airing by Steve Lamacq on his BBC 6 show last week. John Lydon described the track as

“One Drop is a reflection of where I grew up in Finsbury Park, London. The area that shaped me, and influenced me culturally and musically, a place I will forever feel connected to. But within this I am also saying it doesn’t matter where you come from, we all go through the same emotions especially the disenchanted youth of today, yesterday and the future. Bearing in mind the Olympics are in London this year and who knows what that could bring for London and our country….”

Damon Albarn and Noel Gallagher seem to have finally buried the hatchet after years of feuding. The Britpop icons shared a hug and drank together after the Brits, putting an end to their previous Blur v Oasis rivalry. They were aboard the boat on the Thames record label EMI had hired for their post-ceremony bash.

“It’s funny to think Blur were last here 17 years ago when we were big rivals,” Damon told the Evening Standard. “Isn’t it funny how we’ve both mellowed after all these years? We’ve buried the hatchet.”

Both Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Blur performed at the Brits, with Blur being awarded the Outstanding Contribution award, while Noel was nominated in the Best Male Solo Artist category, although not winning. The pair bumped into each in a bar earlier this year where they kissed and made up while reminiscing about their successes of the 1990s.

“It was quite a moment,” commented Gallagher. “We haven’t been in the same room for maybe 10 or 15 years.”

Noel also revealed in the NME that he’d like to collaborate with his former rival, admiring the way the Blur and Gorillaz frontman can turn his hand to any style of music.

As featured on these very pages before, Fracus & Darwin are one (two?) massive name(s) to watch out for in the hardcore scene this year. One of the biggest tracks from their ‘Balancing Act’ album from a couple of years back was ‘Love Obsession’, which features Cat Knight. Now, the Godfather of hardcore, the one the only Slipmatt has remixed the track (using his SMD alias), to quite devastating effect.

In an online statement, Noonan revealed that he had lost his passion for playing heavy music and drumming.

He stated: “I just lost my passion for [playing heavy music] and drumming for that matter. I’m not saying I will never play again, it’s just that I’m ready for something different, and more challenging for me that will not take me far away from home to do it. I love what we have built as a band and with friends, but after years and years of dealing with the in and outs of the industry, I’m just over it for now. I’m not a person that can do two things at once, and I feel I want to put everything I have into pencil art. I know that sounds crazy, but it’s something I fell in love with and strive every day to excel at. So it was a very hard decision for me to decide between the two for this year, but I choose art. I choose being happy and spending time with my family and not touring.”

There’s currently no indication on who will be taking his place.
