The HIV Young Leaders Fund team has been busy planning our involvement at the 2012 International AIDS Conference (www.aids2012.org) in Washington D.C. July 22 – 29, 2012. HIV Young Leaders Fund is happy to announce our Request for Proposals for youth-led initiatives working to address the needs and rights of young women affected by drug use and HIV in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Eligibility and Criteria: Organizations in the following countries are eligible to apply: Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Ukraine. Applicants must be youth-led initiatives coordinated and governed by young people aged 30 years or younger. We support the following priority areas: advocacy, peer-based services to address gaps in current services and community mobilization. Proposals for peer-based services should have an advocacy or community mobilization component. All proposals must be for work addressing the needs and rights of young women affected by HIV and drug use. Initiatives led by young women affected by HIV and drug use will be prioritized.

Grant Decisions: Grant decisions will be made through a regional Community Review Panel (CRP) composed of young leaders with experience in youth HIV issues in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region. Grantees will have access to mentorship and support from HYLF and our partners.

HIV Young Leaders Fund (HYLF) is seeking applications for our 2012 regional Community Review Panel (CRP) for Eastern Europe & Central Asia.

Regional CRP members play a unique role within HIV Young Leaders Fund. CRP members review grant applications and recommend proposals for funding. The CRP process gives young people invested in HIV issues the opportunity to make funding decisions for their peers. The 2012 EECA CRP will review proposals aimed at meeting the needs and addressing the rights of young women affected by HIV and drug use.

Applicants should be young people between 15 and 30 years of age with experience working with and for young people most affected by and living with HIV. Applicants must also work in the EECA region; experience working on HIV policy and/or programs in Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Ukraine especially needed. Applicants with experience working on issues faced by young women affected by HIV and drug use will be prioritized.

HIV Young Leaders Fund (HYLF), in partnership with Youth LEAD, is pleased to announce seven new grants in Southeast Asia & the Pacific for its 2011-2012 grants cycle for youth-led initiatives addressing the needs and rights of young people most affected by HIV.

Over 95 percent of new HIV infections among young people in the region are among men who have sex with men, sex workers, and people who use drugs – yet the majority of HIV resources in the region go towards programs targeting all young people. HYLF’s grants ensure most affected young people have access to resources to deliver peer-based services, conduct advocacy, and mobilize their peers to create a more effective HIV response.

Support for the small grants in Southeast Asia and Pacific has been generously provided by ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action programme. The seven funded initiatives are:
