‘Pushy’ Telemarketer Threatens Unreceptive Homeowner With a Bomb

A number of families in Mead, Colorado were evacuated from their homes after a telemarketer threatened to bomb someone who wasn't interested in his spiel, authorities say.

Apparently the homeowner in question, who declined to be named, simply hung up after being told he had won a certain sum of money. The telemarketer called back and, according to Sgt. Tim Schwartz, "got pretty rude" and said "I've placed a bomb under your house."

The homeowner then called the police, who evacuated the area and began searching for explosives.

According to 7News, deputies from the Weld County Sheriff's Office, officers from the Colorado State Patrol, Dacono Police, Firestone Police and Mountain View Fire Department scoured the home, but did not find anything.

"I personally think that telemarketers are a big pain because they constantly call you even when you ask them not to. But to go to those lengths to actually threaten someone is just ridiculous," Elaine Stanchfield, one of the evacuees, commented.

The homeowner thinks the call may have come from overseas, saying the man had a thick accent. Police are still investigating the origin of the call, but if it was international, apparently the FBI will get involved. If it was domestic, an arrest warrant will be issued.

"It's completely out of the ordinary," Sgt. Schwartz remarked, warning that it is difficult to track down telemarketers. "I don't know how to explain it. They're just pretty pushy I guess."

This order gives an unprecedented level of authority to the President and the federal government to take over all the fundamental parts of our economy - in the name of national security - in times of national emergency.

This means all of our water resources, construction services and materials (steel, concrete, etc.), our civil transportation system, food and health resources, our energy supplies including oil and natural gas – even farm equipment – can be taken over by the President and his cabinet secretaries. The Government can also draft U.S. citizens into the military and force U.S. citizens to fulfill "labor requirements" for the purposes of "national defense." There is not even any Congressional oversight, only briefings are required.

By issuing this as an Executive Order the President puts the federal government above the law, which, in a democracy, is never supposed to happen.

As President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, he has the Constitutional authority to issue executive orders. And while similar orders have been made before by presidents from Eisenhower and Reagan to Clinton and George Bush – it has never been done to this extent.

It is still unclear why this order was signed now, and what the consequences are for our nation – especially during times of peace. This type of Martial Law imposes a government takeover on U.S. citizens that is typically reserved for national emergencies, not in a time of relative peace.

This is a personal letter directed to you and I request that it should be treated as such. I am Darran McGEE, I am the personal attorney/sole executor to my late client, who died in a car crash with his immediate family on the 5th of May 2002. Since the death of my client, I have written several letters to the embassy with an intent to locate any of his extended relatives whom shall be claimants/beneficiaries of his abandoned personal estate and all such efforts have been to no avail. More so, I have received official letters in the last few weeks suggesting a likely proceeding for confiscation of his abandoned personal assets in line with existing laws by the financial institution in which my client deposited the sum of Ј3.8m GBP.
