Personal Transportation Unit

Hey, check out this puppy!

Here’s an excerpt from the description:

Is it a helicopter? Is it a robot? No, it’s the Millennium PTU, a futuristic rotary powered Personal Transportation Unit (PTU) that can be flown just about anywhere. Most helicopters require at least half of a basketball court to fly and maneuver, but the Millennium PTU can be flown in an 8’ x 8’ space!

Fun, huh?

Though it looks pretty unwieldy for a full-sized adaptation for live people.

Okay, this is too funny not to share. I just found this RC Snake that comes in Banana Boa or Green Mamba. Check it out. It comes with a snake egg remote. For ages 6+ but adult help is recommended.

For ages 8 and up we have a Hovercraft that works over land and water. So I went searching on the web to see what I could find about these fun vehicles.

RC-HoverCrafts is a community for RC hovercraft fans. It has a discussion forum, photos, tons of videos, info about modding or building hovercraft.

Drifting

Want to do drifting with an RC vehicle? Any 4WD with a touring car chassis will work. RC drifting can be done with ABS tires. In a contest drift is judged based on the line, drift angle, speed, and show factor.

This is an interesting video of RC cars. Wish I knew more about it—what their route rules are since no one was crashing in to anyone else. I really like the effect of lights on the cars in the dim lighting.

RC Snowmobiles

This week I came across some RC snowmobile videos at a Swedish site. Looks fun even if I’m not really lookin’ forward to winter! Check out the video of a jump and one just cruisin’ in the snow.

So after I found that, I had to search for more info on these—we don’t sell them on our site—so I hadn’t even realized they existed.

RC Trucks has a brief discussion on these vehicles.

DIY Networks talks about snowmobiles and tanks at the Las Vegas show. Read about it here.
