Honda has unveiled a new personal mobility concept called the U3-X.
Essentially a fancy Segway unicycle, the U3-X features the world’s first omni-directional driving wheel system (dubbed Honda Omni Traction Drive System). Combined with Honda’s balance control technology, the device promises to be safe and user friendly.

When not in use, the dual seat pads fold into the sides of the device, as do the foot pegs. To fire it up, just press the power switch. The U3-X will begin to wiggle around ever so slightly as it keeps itself standing. Pop out the seat pads and the foot pegs and hop on.

Weighing less than 10kg (22 lbs), so it can be carried if a user wants to experience life like our caveman ancestors, and, you know, walk. The device is powered by a small lithium-ion battery that provides one hour of operation.

This new personal mobility device makes it possible to adjust speed and move, turn and stop in all directions when the rider leans the upper body to shift body weight.

Honda developed the world’s first wheel structure which enables movement in all directions including forward, backward, side-to-side and diagonally. Multiple small-diameter motor-controlled wheels were connected in-line to form one large-diameter wheel. By moving the large-diameter wheel, the device moves forward and backward, and by moving small-diameter wheels, the device moves side-to-side. By combining these movements the device moves diagonally.

Audi Avatar Concept is a futuristic 3-seat electric supercar designed to provide drivers of 2032 the joy of driving that they had playing racing games when they were kids. The author is Australian designer Edwin Conan.

Long range supercharge-ion battery driving 4 powerful in-wheel electric motors, together with ultra light aerodynamic body, enable the car to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 2.9s, reach top speed of more than 360km/h with nimble and agile handling.

There are no conventional doors on the car, but instead, there are three glass canopies. The main canopy opens forward together with the steering wheel and the dashboard; the two passengers’ canopies open backwards.

The i-LIMB Hand is controlled by a unique, highly intuitive control system that uses a traditional two-input myoelectric (muscle signal) to open and close the hand’s life-like fingers.

‘Skoota’ is a new form of an environmentally friendly electric scooter that is designed for future urban transporation. Its aim is to not only reduce its physical footprint, but its carbon footprint too. Skoota’s unique frame can be compacted to half its size in five simple actions using the central compacting interface.

Operation of Skoota is kept as simple as possible, with only two buttons, power and headlight. Other features of Skoota include indicator lights located either side of the handle bars, brake and tail lights at the rear of the seat, and a blue LED halo headight for visibility.

The aim of this project was to develop guidelines and a holistic solution for a new system of urban transport, composed of vehicle and infrastructure, in a sustainable way and adaptable to various urban environments.

The specs for this scarab:
-The vehicle is composed of interchangeable modules that can be customized.
-Powerpack module composed of a permanent battery plus 3 options for the main energy pack (battery, biofuel ICE or a fuel cell).
-4 wheel drive through electric brushless in-wheel motors with directdrive.

-Drive by wire and tactile HUD embedded in the Lexan canopy.
-Structural elements in Carbon-Aramid composite.
