PUERTO RICAN FISHERMAN LOST AT SEA FOR MORE THAN TWENTY DAYS SURVIVES ON RAW FISH AND PEPSI

" It was a miracle" exclaimed the 40 year old, José Luis Méndez Rodríguez, the puerto rican fisherman who was lost at sea for more than twenty days. He went adrift while fishing around Mona Island, west of Puerto Rico, and arrived three weeks later at the coast of Colombia.

" I caught an eight pounds Mahi-Mahi, filleted it and cut it in small square-shaped pieces, then I dipped them in Pepsi and swallowed them" said the fisherman.

When he got to the coast of Colombia, he jumped out of his small boat and a colombian family came to his rescue immediately. At this moment, he is hospitalized for precautionary reasons and is waiting for health clearance to get back to his deeply worried family in Puerto Rico.

Un pescador boricua sobrevivió “de milagro” tras pasar alrededor de 20 días en alta mar, luego de haberse extraviado a mediados de enero cuando salió a pescar en el Canal de la Mona.

El hombre, identificado como José Luis Méndez Rodríguez, de 40 años, llegó hasta la Isla San Andrés de Colombia. Aún se encuentra en el lejano país, recuperándose de la odisea.

“Yo estoy vivo de milagro”, contó el hombre, al relatar sus vivencias a Radio Isla.

El hombre detalló a la emisora televisiva Wapa TV que su motor se dañó y “se tragó la gasolina”. Esto provocó que estuviera días en alta mar, sin conocer dónde se encontraba.

“Como yo andaba con una suera, cuando había sol me metía debajo del techito”, señaló.

A la emisora radial le indicó que se mantuvo comiendo pescado crudo mojado en refresco y bebía agua que recolectaba cuando llovía.

“Cogí un dorado de 8 libras, cogí lo 'fileteé' y lo hice cuadritos, lo mojaba con Pepsi y con eso me lo tragaba”, señaló.

“Me ponía a pensar cómo estuviera mi familia de preocupada… Uno se ahoga de sufrimiento y todo. Esto es triste, demasiado doloroso para mí”, añadió.

Sin embargo, dijo estar agradecido de una familia cristiana que lo logró rescatar cuando llegó a Colombia.

“Al llegar a la tierra, me tiré rápido de ella (de su embarcación) y ellos rápido me dieron la mano, me dio unos mareo, me fui de rodilla”, comentó.

Méndez Rodríguez se encuentra hospitalizado y en espera “en lo que se brega el día de mañana para ver si me pueden tirar pa’ Puerto Rico”.

POLICIAS DE PUERTO RICO SE ESCONDEN PARA DAR BOLETOS DE TRANSITO

Otra evidencia más que la policía de Puerto Rico no sirve y tiene que cambiar de arriba a abajo o de abajo hacia arriba como ústed prefiera entenderlo. Pasando por la carretera 187, saliendo del pueblo de Loíza, entrando a Piñones los "guardias" de tránsito se esconden al final de un pequeño elevado donde el tramo de la carretera cambia de un máximo de 40 a 35 millas por hora. Cuando el viajero acelera para subir el elevado y baja a la misma velocidad ahí lo espera el saludable policía de tránsito, listo con una sonrisa astuta, y le hace señales para que se arrime al paseo. El policía se acerca y le dice: caballero sabe por que lo dentengo. Y el viajero honestamente le contesta: ni idea. "Por velocidad", orgullosamente dice el oficial de tránsito. Añade, " Esto es una zona de 35 y usted iba a 41. Miralo aquí " y señala a su pistolita digital que marca 41. Cómo ésto ayuda a bajar la incidencia criminal de Puerto Rico? Cómo ésto ayuda a mejorar la seguridad del Pueblo de Puerto Rico? Cómo ésto mejora la perspectiva del ciudadano hacia los policías de PR? Soy testigo de que el policía asumió una actitud de enfrentamiento con el viajero. Y ésto se lo 'achaco' a un problema de educación. Muy pocos policías de Puerto Rico se pueden considerar personas respetuosas y/o educadas. Acaso el policía no se da cuenta de que él trabaja para el pueblo. El policía es mi empleado. El policía es tu empleado. Si trabajas y pagas 'taxes', le estás pagando el salario al policía para que él te brinde seguridad y mejore la calidad de tu vida. No le pago pa' que se esconda detrás de una montañita de cemento esperando a dar 'tickets' de 5 millas por hora a personas trabajadoras que contribuyen a la economía de Puerto Rico. No creo que haya forma de arreglar este asunto. Al policía de Puerto Rico lo han convertido en un agente de cobro. La falsa esperanza de una solución reside en la educacíon. Que jodíos estamos!!! Cuando se roba dinero en el gobierno de donde se roba primero es de la educación. Hasta los mismos PNP's juegan con los fondos federales de educación. Mientras este problema siga, policías jugando a escondite para luego salir de sorpresa y asustar a los ciudadanos de Puerto Rico puedo expesar con franqueza este sentimiento que llevo adentro: TODOS LOS POLICIAS DE TRANSITO DE PUERTO RICO SE PUEDEN IR PAL CENTRO DEL CARAJO...

Victor Cruz (nació en noviembre 11, 1986) es un wide reciever de los New York Giants de la NFL.

El pasado domingo los Giants de NY vencieron a los 49ers de San Francisco en tiempo extra para asegurar su pase al Super Bowl XLVI, el cuál se celebrará el domingo 5 de febrero. Para el boricua Victor Cruz el camino al Super Bowl no fue fácil. Al no ser elegido en el draft de la NFL y ser invitado a los campos de entrenamiento sólo por los Giants de NY, trabajó duro durante los juegos de entrenamiento y logró ser parte del equipo. Debido a lesiones de los wide receivers regulares consiguió tiempo de juego y lo aprovechó al máximo. En la temporada acumuló 1536 yds y 9 TD's, convirtiéndose en el wide receiver preferido del quarterback de los Giants, Eli Manning. After 32 years, RCA decided to release this great album on cd. It is really hard to understand why so much time had to pass to be able to listen to it again.This album is a genuine Christmas Album in which you can appreciate the orchestral arrangements, voice and guitar of Jose... Everything is wonderful, classic and at the same time new and creative; it is absolutely a must-have album for all fans, music lovers of any genre, young and the not so young generations. 'Feliz Navidad' includes 3 bonus tracks never released before.... it is not only for Christmas time!

"Jose Feliciano applies his unique vocal and instrumental sylings to this recording of popular Christmas songs. Supported by a creative arrangement of strings, brass and percussion under the direction of Perry Botkin Jr., Feliciano adds interesting new dimensions to old Christmas favorites like, "Silent Night," "Little Drummer Boy," "Mary's Boy Child," and "The Cherry Tree Carol."

PS. I hope this nice gift from RCA can be the first of other originals LP of 60s and 70s of Jose to be re-released in CD again.

Christmas is an absolutely beautifully recorded and sung album by the velvety rat pack voice of Michael Buble. The arrangements are stellar featuring big band and full orchestra backings by some of the best musicians in the business with a great deal of input from Michael himself and genius producer David Foster. Additional production by Bob Rock gives an especially rewarding re-work of Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You. Michael slows the tempo way down and turns Mariah's festive version into a very romantic and longing song of desire and passion. What a great version of one of the best Christmas songs written in the last 20 years!

Also quite amazing is Michael's version of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). Here he wisely sticks to Darlene Love's original arrangement though the brass and drums are recorded so well and sound so bright it might almost make you forget her original version which is also fantastic. Buble modestly said that he might not have her pipes but he sure made up for it with his own punch and swagger. Another classic is given the Buble treatment and the listener cannot help but get drawn into the singers desire to get his baby home as soon as possible.

There are an amazing 15 songs on this version which includes all traditional songs except for one original written by Michael and his piano player Alan Chang, Cold December Night, another romantic and well sung ballad that would go quite well with an eggnog sitting by the fireplace. There are spicy versions of Holly Jolly Christmas and Jingle Bells as well as an awesome duet with Shania Twain on White Christmas that borrows a great deal from the Drifters version featured in the Home Alone movie.

Michael sings a hauntingly beautiful version of Ave Maria where he really shows the richness and clarity of his amazingly beautiful diction and singing technique. Remember this is a guy who closes out many of his concerts by putting the microphone down on the stage and singing the last song without amplification. Silent Night features a tender brass arrangement at the beginning that segues into a beautiful children's choir that sings along with Michael.

Michael Buble's Christmas ranks right up there with the greatest holiday records of all time by Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole and Johnny Mathis. This album is immaculately sung and well produced and is a timeless masterpiece for the ages.
