Sunday May 27 2012 great expectation for the seventieth edition 0f the Gran Prix of Formula 1 of Monaco, a breathtaking race that will run on a most unique circuit of the world, the streets of the Principality of Monaco.

It’s the only circuit that takes place among the narrow streets of  Monte Carlo, with its climbs, downhills, turns that have made the story of Monaco.

Has always been one of the most toughest tracks where cold blood and great mastery of the vehicle and of the speed combined with a pinch of luck help the most bravest pilot to reach the podium as a winner.

For those who love mondanity combined with sport, the week before the Gran Prix is the perfect one to  enjoy a fantastic holiday in Monte Carlo and in Cotè Azur.

It’s about a  Festival of great cinematic tradition, internationally famous that gathers in this corner of France the major actors and actresses of the big screen.

It will be days full of events, projections, mondanity, all waiting the proclamation of the winners awarded with the Golden Palm.

There’s also great expectations for the fashion show on the red carpet in front of the Palais des Festivals et des Congres, where the Festival takes place, overlooking the Promenade de la Croisette, historic seafront promenade of Cannes.

The City of Flowers has written many  pages of history and among these we have to remember Villa Magnolie (now seat of the town’s High School), where the last Ottoman Sultan, Maometto VI, lived the final part of his life.
Maometto VI arrived in San Remo on May 20 1923, he arrived in the Western Riviera by train and was accompanied by an escort.  He fled from Istanbul in 1922 aboard a British ship and landed on the island of Malta, chosen destination for his exile, ma after he decided to sail towards the Riviera of Flowers.

The last Lord of Turkey was overthown by General Mustafa Kemal and in the wait to return home as a winner he chosed this corner of Italy for his exile, where he died three years later on May, in exile and  without being able to return to power.
The choice of San Remo is understandable as in those years the prestige and the international reputation of this place reached the four corners of the world, San Remo could be considered as a small Istanbul, overlooking the sea, rich and frequented by the major rilevant personalities of the international scene, the heart of the Italian belle-epoque.
Initially he was hosted for a short period in the home of the Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel, after he moved  a few hundred meters away and arrived at Villa Magnolie.
The three year period that the Sultan -Caliph spent in San Remo, from 1923 to 1926, were months of great activities for the Sovreign, political ideas, projects  were carried forward thanks to his many acquaitances and to the meetings he held with Islamic envoys, with Benito Mussolini which in this period rose to power in Italy. He also met in the halls of the Municipal Casino the  King of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele III.

The trial will be valid for the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and the partecipation to the races as pilots or as car manufactuers will be worldwide.

For the edition 2011 there will be a novelty, in fact the San Remo Rally will be valid also for the Asphalt Rally Trophy that allows lovers of motore engines to see parade along with the queens of the Rallies, the S2000, the Wrc, the trophies Renault, Peugeot, Fiat, Ford and Citroen. On Monday September 19 the side events will begin with the inauguration in Piazza Borea d’Olmo in San Remo of the exhibition dedicated to the Rally, “History of San Remo”.

Tuesday 20 will be the pre -control day for the racing cars and Wednesday 21 the Press Room (in the former warehouse FS) ,the Assistence ParK and the Rally Village, on the Promenade of the Nations (Lungomare of the Nations) and the Carlo Dapporto Square.

Wednesday evening from 10,00  the great welcome party in the Bresca Square for all rally drivers, tourists and residents that want to partecipate at the great evening of music and fun! Thursay 22 from 12,00 to 7,00 pm in Taggia there will the Park Assistance Test and Friday 23 and Saturday 24 the test drive will take place on the roads of the hinterland of San Remo.

There will be 9 special trials for 125,28 km for a total distance of 357.04 km, the race will be trasmitted on Sky on channel  515.

Il progetto Turisti a 4 Zampe

In the past days, the  Ministry of Tourism launched the new project Turisti a 4 zampe,(Four- legged tourists) dedicated to all those who love to travel in the company of their pet.

“Two are the purposes of the project: to improve the touristic competiveness in Italy and at the same time, to fight against the  deplorable phenomenon of the abandonment of animales.”

The iniziative is supported by the web portal with a very pleasant graphic, that contains a series of tips and a list of accomodation facilities that accept pets.

Naturally also our hotel is on the portal, as it has always welcomed your small friends: so much that the Nyala Suite Hotel has created a special card  of services: Nyala Pet Hospitality, for the hospitality of cats, dogs, etc.

In addition in our hotel accompained pets :) don’t pay a cent !

The Monte Carlo Rolex Masters was born in the far 1897 and, touching three centuries , today is one of the men’s tournament of tennis belonging  to the category  ATP World Tour Masters 1000, the most prestigous category after the one that encloses the four tournaments of the Slam.
