January 2013:

Looking out of the window, I see a heavy snowfall accompanied by fog and I must admit that initially the desire to leave bed&home isn’t big (really!!!). But duty calls and so I went to the local ski school. Once I have on my boots and ski’s I realize that this is my passion and not only just a work, despite the bad weather.

So here I’m with my little Australian student who already skis on slopes of most difficulties. We are among the first skiers at the top of the Col Alto in Corvara. In front of us only 2 or 3 skiers draw some lines on the fresh snow. The silence, the soft contours of the snow, the incredibly fresh and pure air...at this moment i realize how lucky I am.

My skis glide down the slope, the snow feels like flour and I think of my childhood... the afternoons when I baked cookies with my grandma, or rather, she baked them and I used to put  my hands in the flour and spread it all over the table, it was beautiful.

In this January morning, I felt incredible emotions and watching this kid I realized that he was very happy and felt very lucky to ski in the Dolomites together with me. Returning home he said to me that was just “cool”.

In the afternoon, back to work in the office of Holimites, I felt the need to share this experience with you... Maybe you even have the desire to get some "powder".

Jänner 2013:

Als ich aus dem Fenster schaue, sehe ich dichten Schneefall und Nebel und ich muss gestehen, die Lust das Haus zu verlassen ist gering (sehr gering). Aber die Pflicht ruft und ich fahre zur Skischule.

Sobald ich die Skier an den Füßen habe, kribbelt es und mir wird bewusst, dass es sich hier um meine Leidenschaft handelt und nicht nur um meine Arbeit, trotz des schlechten Wetters. Ich und mein Schüler, ein australischer Junge, welcher bereits Pisten aller Schwierigkeitsgrade bravurös meistert sind eine der Ersten am Gipfel vom Col Alto in Corvara. Vor uns haben maximal 2-3 Skifahrer ihre Spur im Neuschnee hinterlassen. Die Stille, die weichen Konturen des Schnees, die unglaublich frische und reine Luft...genau in diesem Augenblick wird mir bewusst wie glücklich ich mich schätzen kann.

Meine Skier gleiten den Hang hinunter, der Neuschnee fühlt sich wie Puderzucker an und ich muss an meine Kindheit denken, an die Nachmittage als ich mit meiner Oma Kekse gebacken habe...oder besser gesagt, sie hat sie gebacken und ich war damit beschäftigt den Puderzucker über den ganzen Tisch zu verteilen.

An diesem Vormittag habe ich unglaubliche Emotionen verspürt und das Gesicht meines Schülers gab mir zu verstehen, dass er glücklich war an einem Tag wie diesen in den Dolomiten Skifahren zu dürfen. Es war ein toller letzter Skitag hier bei uns und sein letztes Wort vor der Verabschiedung war “cool”.

Am Nachmittag, zurück bei Holimites, habe ich das Bedürfnis verspürt euch zu schreiben und von diesem einzigartigen Tag zu berichten...vielleicht habt ihr ja auch Lust bekommen auf etwas “powder”.

Gennaio 2013:

Guardando fuori dalla finestra, vedo una fitta nevicata accompagnata da nebbia e devo ammettere che inizialmente la voglia di uscire di casa é poca (molto poca). Ma il dovere chiama e quindi via alla scuola di sci e, non appena infilati gli sci ai piedi, ho capito perché anche con il brutto tempo non considero questo come un lavoro qualsiasi ma semplicemente come una grande passione.

Io e il mio allievo, un ragazzo australiano giá in grado di fare piste di ogni livello, saliamo tra i primi in cima al Col Alto a Corvara; davanti a noi solo 2 o massimo 3 scie giá tracciate, il resto é un manto di neve fresca...in quel silenzio che ci circonda, e che solo una bella nevicata sa creare, capisco di essere una persona molto fortunata.

Scendo e sento i miei sci galleggiare in quei centimetri di neve che sembrano farina e mi tornano in mente teneri ricordi come quelli di quando da piccola facevo i dolci con la nonna, o meglio lei faceva ed io distruggevo, infilando le mie manine nella farina e spargendola ovunque, era bellissimo.

Beh in questa mattinata di gennaio ho provato delle emozioni uniche e guardando il mio allievo ho capito che anche lui era felicissimo e si sentiva molto fortunato di poter sciare nelle Dolomiti anche in una giornata cosí, questo era il suo ultimo giorno prima di tornare a casa e mi ha detto che é stato proprio “cool”.

Poi nel pomeriggio, tornata al lavoro in sede Holimites, sentivo il bisogno di condividere con voi tale esperienza e di farvi venire voglia di un po’ di “powder”.

Initial planning for the new Holimites website started last December and, after 12 laborious months of extensive corrections, adjustments and fine-tuning, we are truly happy to announce that it is ready to be navigated by our visitors!

Yet, we wouldn't have been able to achieve such excellent results based on our efforts alone. We were fortunate to work with an absolutely wonderful team of partners, and their valuable collaboration is what made this project possible. We are very grateful to:

Ma per realizzare un sito di questa portata non sarebbe bastato il nostro grande impegno se ad affiancarci e sopportarci non ci fosse stato anche un gruppo di persone affiatate con il quale abbiamo avuto la fortuna di collaborare negli ultimi mesi e che ora finalmente possiamo ringraziare pubblicamente:

12 years later, with much more experience but still a touch of madness, those hoteliers are ready to close symbolically this “era” and to open a new one: on December 12th 2012 at 12:12, the website of holimites.com, so as you knew it, is not anymore accessible. These days we are working on the relaunch of a brand new website, whose project has started 12 months ago.

The absence will be brief, of course, we continue to answer your e-mails. In the meantime you can follow our daily life on Facebook and Twitter. But you can also browse through our new catalog 2013 plenty of offers for the next season:

12 Jahre später, mit reichlich mehr Erfahrung aber immer noch einen Hauch an Leichtsinn, sind diese Hoteliere bereit symbolisch eine Ära abzuschließen um eine Neue zu eröffnen: am 12.12.2012 um 12:12 wird die Homepage Holimites.com, so wie Sie sie kennen nicht mehr zugänglich sein. In diesen Tagen arbeiten wir am Relaunch einer komplett neuen Homepage, dessen Projekt vor 12 Monaten begann.

Das Ausbleiben wird nicht lange währen, natürlich beantworten wir weiterhin Ihre Emails und in der Zwischenzeit können Sie uns auf Facebook oder Twitter folgen.

After the very successful "'edition zero" last year on Alta Via 1 (from Lake Braies to Passo Duran), this year it will be replicated on the Alta Via 2:

June 16 to 23, with the option of just  first two or three days! 

Holimites will  allow you to:

• run and walk with the Holimites trail running guide Andreas Irsara (first class athlete and mountaneer) from “rifugio” to “rifugio”, with no fussing about your luggage, that will be transported for you.
• to be filmed and photographed in breathtaking environments by photographer (and trail runner) Augusto Mia Battaglia

• last, but not least, you’ll have the unique opportunity to practice YOGAXRUNNERS twice a day: 
  • morning, PRE-RACE: a practice of awakening, to better prepare the body and breath for the upcoming “enduring” run and walk.  Salutations to the Sun and standing poses will open and oxigenate the joints that are subjected to the hard work of running (ankles, knees, hips and chest), and thus will  prevent injuries and optimize your stride.
  • In the afternoon, POST-RACE: a “restorative” , mostly passive, practice, with poses that use the force of gravity and breath to restore space and alignment to the tissues and joints  that have been contracted during the run.  The "recovery” time will be amazingly fast and complete!
