It was all about the "island blue" nails at the Look magazine live show!

Hey Hunnis

So After Paris then came the Look magazine beauty show, and myself and http://www.karlapowell.co.uk/ were both the nail technicians for the show. The show consisted of a number of designers including mango, River Island, Primark, New look and many more. It was the A/W collection. Kelly Brook was there with her new range for New look and Alesha Dixon was performing her new single and she treated us to one of our faves.

Normally im crawling around on the floor doing the models nails but today me and Karla were spoilt with our very own nail sections

Smash box was the brand of makeup used and deep red lips with natural eyes or electric blue smokey eyes with nude lips was the look used by the make up artists. The colours complimented the "island blue " nails perfectly.

The clothes were amazing lots of fur, metallics and ankle boots me and Karla fell in love with these im so getting a pair.

The hair had an almost wind swept "un done" feel to it. With brushed out waves and lots of dry shampoo for texture and to eliminate shine.

This whole out fit is from New look I am in love with this little jacket and tartan skirt, with tights is the perfect outfit for work, dinner with friends or a shopping trip.

Here are all the looks for the shoot each models allocated their own out fit.

It was great seeing the different pieces come together and I definitely got some outfit ideas for this seasons A/W.

Paris Fashion Week

Working at Paris Fashion week on the Alexandra Mc show

The most amazing shows I done at Paris Fashion week were Alexandra Mc queen and Louis Vitton. I was part of Marian Newman's nail technician team. The first show was Alexandra Mc queen the nails were kept very nude a very sheer natural beige and glossy toes. Sarah Barton creative director focused on a bee them making the models into bee keepers or bees, their bee keeping looking headpieces sparkled. Sparkling thigh high boots,netting, the colours lemon and yellow, lace and flowers and even the flooring of the runway had a big influence of bees and their association. With buzzing bee sounds playing before the show began.

The simplistic understated nails was the perfect nail design for the detailed designs they complimented the pieces beautifully.

How amazing are these boots I want, need love them

These were the visions created from the thought of bees its just absolutely incredible and it shows the true imagination and beauty of some peoples minds.

These dresses were so beautiful I was actually speechless they were so structured yet soft they were absolutely beautiful.

Sarah Barton designs showed not only beauty but a strong feel of power and strength just like a bee. Female bees dominate the males and boy did Sarah portray that perfectly in her pieces.

Marian always seems to compliment both design, make up and hair in her nails. It is always a dream to be part of her team.

Bonjour Hunnis je suis alle a Paris!

I have been in Paris for Paris fashion week I was working with a team of nail technician s under Marian Newman on the Alexandra Mc queen and Louis Vuitton shows I know AMAZING!

Hollie does Paris day 1

So I love experiencing other countries and their culture so on my first day in Paris I went to visit the Eiffel tower. So We had a little breakfast obviously when in France you eat croissant coffee so I did. Then to experience Paris like a local rather than take the very easy taxi we decided to take the Metro. I thought well how different can it be that the London under ground and I use that all the time. Hahahah it actually wasn't that hard and with my fluency in French and our map and asking someone every 2 minutes we arrived and OMG it was amazing .

So I have never been on a merry go round so as you know I like to experience everything so I went for a ride and as everyone always goes on the horses i decided to go for the ostrich hahaha so funny I laughed all the way round it made it funnier that Lindsay who was with me her s was wobbly so she was hanging on for dear life!

On day 2 of Hollie does Paris

So you all know I love Americas best youtubers like Kandee Johnson and how I would love to visit America well. In England we don't have a Sephorea and my fellow youtube beauty gurus in America always talk about going to Sephora and guess what? I got to go in one because there is one in Paris AMAZING. and yes it is as good as everyone says it is I loved it I was lie a kid in a sweet shop. Theres every make up brand you can think of and more I loved it.

So I was doing lots of things at the show one of the things I was doing was interviewing some of the exciting people and brands there one of them was the talented Gary Cockerill who is a celebrity make up artist who is know for doing Katie price and working with Tamara Ecleston. Both myself and Gary have worked with the incredible photographer Alan Strut and heres what Gary had to say on what he was doing at the show and his top tip as a make up artist.

Olympia beauty show! Judging the make up competition

Hey Hunnis so at the weekend I was out and about at the Olympia beauty show doing al sorts. First I was Judging the Lou page make up competition. There was so many talented and beautiful girls that entered with two categorises the first being student and the second being pro. I was judging along with some of the most talented and well know people in the industry Nilam Patel, Julia Townend, Natasha Booth , Eryca Freemantle, Louise Page, Zoe Walters, Louise Young, Jo Parker,Mikey and Emiley Dhanjal.

The Lou Page make up competion was different to other make up competitions that have been before because un like others this was about the judges interacting with the students and about getting to know their story. As judges we were looking for we not only skill bit for passion and how well they executed their ideas from mood board to model, hygiene and symmetry in their work. Some of the girls I met were so passionate and determined I loved talking to them. All the girls dome so well and even after one girl called Fahana had such a great attitude her model let her down she quickly grabbed some one and said to me "you have to do what you have to do" Love that attitude she didn't moan or play on the fact her model didn't turn up.

Hey Hunnis so at the weekend I was at the Olympia beauty show in London and guess who was there? Ill give you a few clues yep they are big, bouncy, pink and they give you volumized sexy hair with out the sleepless night. hahah yes you guessed sleep in rollers.

So in between interviewing and filming I was also helping all you hunnis choosing which rollers you wanted. I was even lucky to meet some of my beautiful roller queens who follow me on twitter and watch my YouTube channel.

Not only that but I also got to meet some amazing new additions to the crew and here they are meet

Hi Hunnis well ive done ive opened a salon and its officially open.So I had the official Launch and heres some pictures of what went on. I had Laura and Becks doing HD brows for all my guests

My 2 girls looked stunning in their hand painted T-Shirts and I cant believe my name was in diamanté on Fran wooop I was so chuffed.

At my launch how else would the girls have their hair other than in sleep rollers!!! haha its gotta be done and they looked so cute, and yes they are the NEW glitter rollers out .

My sister in Law made the most blingest mini cupcakes with glitter hahahaYEP glitter cup cakes my launch was defiantly all about the bling hahaha

Victoria Loves Beauty great disposables and I love my clear holder great for when in in the salon doing make up and when I go on shoots.

Have you ever met someone and fallen for them straight away. Sometimes unicorns have a magical way of riding up and delivering you people who you are supposed to know.!!

So after the launch everyone went to the Indian for a n after party meal. It was the perfect ending to the most perfect launch I could have ever wished for. As you know I am in love with the power of random acts of kindness, so when people made the effort to come from as far as liverpool and as well when the opening ceremony for the Olympics was on. to support me with my new salon it made me the most blessed girl .I was surrounded by friends old and new and I truly am so thankful you were all there. Woooooo heres to the future working with you all and creating magic.

Un brow lievable brows for ever YAY !!

I found the answer to all my brow prayers.......................
Eyebrows are the most important feature on you face. They frame your eyes and with the right length and shape they can make you face appear thinner, wider , longer and can even make your nose appear longer ,thinner or wider. Your eyebrows can age you and take years off you. They can open up your eyes with an arch. With a variety of ways to wax, thread and pluck away your eyebrows to chisels out a designer style and then tint the hairs for depth and colour.

What if you dont have many hairs and no matter how much you try and grow your brows in no hair seem to grow at all?????? Well you spend forever pencilling, and powdering them in and even stencilling to create a pair of matching brows. Sometimes we have twins and sometime we get sisters hahahahha. We the try our hardest to avoid the rain and touching that area for fear of smearing an eyebrow across our fore head or the rain washing a nice brown line down our face.

Well imagine if you could wake up and your brows where already drawn on? Imagine you didn't have to spend ages trying to perfect them with ,wake up? Imagine if you could go in the water like on holiday and your brows didn't wash or rub off???

The answer is eye brow tattooing ........

I have gone and got these puppies tattooed after years of wanting them done ive done it and OMG I love them. I have a little treat for you hunnis not only have I kept a little diary with pictures of my tattoo experience I videoed it. So you can see the whole thing with me and the after care.

So here is my week of brows

This is Dermaspa in Milton Keynes where I got my brows done. I done alot of research before choosing where to get them done. I also knew a a few people who had gone to the same place and so I knew they where good. Its very important to do your research tattooing cannot be erased and you will have to look at them on yourself everyday so make sure your 110% confident in the person doing them and you know they are good.

Anethesic cream was applied to my brows so they would go numb and I would feel any pain or discomfort. Me and my beauty therapist then decided on a shape and how I would like my brows to be. I took a picture with me of the shape I liked. I think is a good idea to take a picture that way you and your beauty therapist can see exactly how you want them.

Heres a before picture of my brows can you see how sparse they are with out my make up on them. They have always been like this I just wasn't blessed with thick eyebrows. Over plucking, waxing and threading over years can also make your eyebrows sparse and in the end over time they will not grow at all.

This made me laugh I couldn't believe that my brows where being measured. I couldn't believe I met some one else who had such attention to detail that's the sort of thing I do to get thing symmetrical. hahahah such perfectionists.

I didnt feel any pain when my brows where being tattooed. I have tattoos on my body but it didnt feel anything like getting them done. The tattooing took about half an hour. After the tattooing stray hairs where threaded away this way the skin wasn't aggravated.

Mineral powders where applied to the surround area of my brows to calm and add a little natural colour.

Look at the difference now I know they look very dark this is normal and the beauty therapist assured my before that they where going to be really dark to start with and that this is just until they scab. So DONT PANNIC its just something you have to put up with if you want them tattooed its only for a week. I think I can live with that hahahha.

I will keep you up dated through out the next week with pictures of how my brows are doing they will know go through some scabbing and there are a few thing I cant do whilst they are healing so stay tuned for my next blogg tomorrow to see how they are getting on.

Thing you shouldnt do when you have fake tan on!!!

So hunnis as you know im an Essex girl so we know a thing or to about tanning my 3 fave tanning products are ......
1 Fake bake
2 Vita liberata
3 Lauren s way

If you are new to tanning use a mitt because it will be easier to apply with out getting streaks and its more controlled here are the top tips what not to do and after check out the videos on how to fake tan the essex way and Laurens way xxxx

#1 Dribble when you wee if you have gone out and you have to use a public toilet and you hover when you wee = white steaks down your legs!!

#2 Do the washing up!! = white jazz hands looking like micheal Jackson

#3 Eat spaghetti = white marks all around your face not a sexy look lol

#4 Spoon your boy friend = white marks where you have rubbed against him and he has stolen your tan

#5 Do not down your wine and dribble = white line running down your face and neck Pi*s head

#6 Wear a bra = when you wash your tan off you will still look like your wearing your white bra hahah or you have tan lines!!

#7 Get caught in the rain = Looks like you have a skin disease ;-(

#8 Meet some one for the first time for example the boyfriends parents = they will think you are a freak who has roller in mud or just trash deffo not the girl next door they wanted their son to marry

#9 Do any thing that makes you sweat ie go to the gym = some tans will turn you green looking a little like the incredible hulk BUT do panic it will wash off in the shower.

#10 Go out with out washing if off = disaster = smelly = too dark as the night goes on= flu resent in ultraviolet light = runs and goes streaky with sweat and rain = if you pull will turn the guy orange hahaha

So good luck hunnis there are always HOW TO TANS and WHAT TO DO but this is a NOT TO DO lots of love the queen of fake tanning obviously im from Essex they taught me to tan when the other girls where finger painting hahahha

Summer is on its way so its best to start thinking now about our bodies because very soon we will be getting them out lol. So here are 10 of my fave body products that will help re fresh, tan , de hair, and look after you bodies making them sexy temple hahaha .

1# Vita liberata tan Extra rich silken chocolate Its not sticky , dries in seconds and doesn't smell I love it. Its paraben free and it was the tan used on the XFactor.

#4 Epilator I have the Phillips one that you can use on wet or dry skin. Its great just run it over your legs and your hair free for 3-4 weeks much better than shaving.

#5 Tanning mitt for easy flawless, streak free application of my fake tan. Its washable just pop it in the washing machine hahahah

6#Vita liberata 24 carrot gold instant tan it has minute little glitters that make your skin look like gold and you get an instant tan great for when you don't have time to tan.

7#CND Solar oil for my nails and toe nails this stuff is amazing it stops my cuticles from getting dry and feeds my nails leaving them healthy. I rub it in at night so it can soak in and it smell like Mr Kipling cherry bake wells mmmmm

8#Body scrub by vita liberata its ting grains polishes my skin removing the dry dead skin cells . Leaving my skin feeling so soft and ready to tan.

9#Shellac power polish this is a 14 day permanent polish that doesn't chip, smudge, or flake and it has zero drying time. My polish on my hands and toes looks perfect for 2 weeks on my hands and 4 weeks on my toes. I never get caught out with bad nails and they have grown really long because the shellac protects my nails.

10#Micro dermabrasion crystal I mix them with my cleanser to ex foliate my skin leaving it so soft and smooth my make up goes on better and my skin looks healthier. You can get the dermalogica microfoliant its amazing and can be used every day.

Very posh fish fingers at the Fred Bulter Presentation London Fashin Week A/W 2012

OMG My eyes didn't know where to look first it was a room filled with imagination, dreams pastel colour knits textures, and 9" heels. This was where imaginations come to life. The artistic flair of every individual filled the room I was in my element. Fred butler was the most beautiful lady and I couldn't help but notice how her eyes lit up as she watched her designs come to life.

Creating master pieces!!!

Marian Newman the Goddess of all things nails created 2 sets of nails each complimented the theme and out fit of the models. As I inspected the nails one by one I new just how much detail had gone into the nails. The 3D cucumbers where raised with a clay and Marian had painted the outside of the clay a dark green and where they had been pushed down the paint had cracked and acted as layers. The undersides of the nails where to detailed and the edges of the salmon was intesually tatty as if smoked salmon is. Tiny minute caviar had been glued to the sushi patterned nails as if by little mice.

I was so proud to apply these nails even though I had not created them I was honoured that I had been trusted with them. Everyone that saw the nails gasped and couldn't believe their eyes they were so amazing. I must have studied those nails for a good few hours and Marian had inspired me to create my own creative nails.

I applied the pre made tips with taupe tape to ensure they could easily be removed from the models after the presentation.

London Fashion Week back stage at The Vivenne Westwood show!!

It was an absolute honor and my dream to work with such an amazing lady and her Minx nail design Marian Newman on the Vivenne Westwood show. I was Minxing the models nails along with a team of 6 other Mighty Minxers. The theme of the nails was a combination of dark mattish and a transparent black tattoo design made exclusivly for Vivenne Westwood.

Rehearsals for Vivenne Westwood show look at all those photographers I actually got to watch the run through AMAZING I can honestly say AMAZING was the word of the day and the day I used the word AMAZING the most xxx

Marian let us keep these Minx cant believe I have them the same from the show!!!

Heres a close up of my models nails sexy scattered hahahah. It was up to us as to where we paced the minx and in which order those tattoos where soooo AMAZING Minx makes any nails look beautiful no matter how short or bitten xx
By far this was my high light of the day I got to meet the Vivenne Westwood she is an amazing lady. It was amazing to work on her show and the clothes were breath taking I still cant believe a dream of mine came true. Im in shock a little hehehe.

She was talking to Pete Burns in the red hair we could if stayed but with more shows I have lined up it was a briefing on the next show and then an early night I did have a glass of champers that went to my head hehehhe

And well here I am at the Goldsmith Hall waiting for the models to arrive to get started I was so excited heheh I t was so hectic and I was soo busy Minxing nails that it was hard to take as many pics as I wanted but I got what I could . Marian asked me to check the models for varnish as they lined up to walk the catwalk it was so manic I was on the floor scrubbing a lil models toes and spot checking all whilst the where having their make up and hair tweaked I was LOVING it. It was everything I expected and more and I would like to that Sweet Squared, Marian Newman an Inspiration and Vivenne Westwood for make my dream a reality.

Against all odds you can succeed, no matter how hard or impossible you have to keep trying because there will come a time when your dreams will come true because you wont have stopped trying.

Where stripping down to the foundations hunnis lets start from the begginging

Hey Hunnuis sorry I havent posted for a while I have been soooooo busy on photo shoots and I done the make up for a music video. Then I have been fitting in clients at Pampur Lounge, designing my web site, Price lists and buissiness cards and then filming my how to videos for you tube.

But here I am and I want to strip back to basics. Its no good putting on a face of make up if you have dry, flaky or spotty skin. Nor is it any good to try and style your hair bouncy or sleek if you have dead split ends or your hair is dry or limp. Nor is it any good to have painted nails and toes if you nails are flaking and you heels are chapped and hands are dry. So we are going to strip down to the begging.

Heres my video for how to get a clean and clear face!!

Here are my top face products there can be used for normal, dry, oily and combination skin types

*Burts bees facial scrub

*Olay cleanser

*Witch hazel

*Benefits eye con and de puffing eye gel

*Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream

*Facial make up remover wipes

*clinique scruffing lotion

* The body shops vitamin E chap stick ( the best chap stick in the world)

Other products that I love are Dermalogica, benefits honey scrub, E45 cream.

Hunnis dont forget your body.

*Always ex-foliate you body paying extra attention to your knees, feet and elbows this is where your skin gets extra dry.

*You dont have to spend a fortune on ex-foliater you can DIY it just add sugar to your shower gel and scrub your body all over with out water then wash it off.

* MOISTURISE every day I love E45 lotion its amazing and perfume free and Hypo-allergenic. So its great for ALL skin types including sensitive.

*Leave your moisturiser beside your bed and lather it on your feet and hands before you go to bed that way it has all night to soak into your skin with out you washing you hands in the night.

*Don't go on sun beds they age your skin and cause skin cancer.I know they make you feel nice and give you a great tan but You can get just as good tan from a bottle and you will stay looking younger for longer.

*Hands are a tell tale sign of some ones age unfortunally I was not blessed with baby soft hands and I have eczema so mine are very dry and I am a hair dresser and we all know that hair dressers have the worst hand and nails because they are always in water and water strips out skin and nails of all their natural oils.

CND is an amazing nail company and they do THE BEST hand cream and nail oil SOLAR BUTTER and SOLAR OIL.

Here are the facts

that back me up. Jojoba oil is a carrying oil which means it penetrates into the layers of skin deep down. This is important in creams as it carries all the other good ingredience to the deeper layers of skin repairing and moisturising deep down for a more permanent solution to dry skin. Have you ever moisturised your hand,face or body and then when you wash you feel just as dry. That's because creams with out jojoba oil in just sit on the surface of the skin so they trick you into thinking your adding moisture when you not.

You can get these from any nail technician that is CND trained. Leave this by your bed and rub it into you cuticles and it can be put on you toes rub it in really good you after a week you will be amazed AND it smells like Mr Kipling bake well tarts I know AMAZING this is due to the almond oil in it! SCRUMMY!!! well he does make exceedingly good cake hahahaha

You will fall in love with this cream

Hair these are my top tips for keeping you hair in good condition.
*You should have you hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks even if you are growwing it. A split end is like a ladder in your tights if you dont cut above the split it will just keep splitting up the hair shaft.*Make sure you use a good conditioner on your hair if your hair is dry and you use heat on it to style it these are my fave shampoos and conditioners.
*Kerastce is AMAZING in the bain de force and cimment for very damaged split hair.*Your hair will benefit more from a salon brand ie Kerastace, L'oreal professional, Sebastian, Redken, Goldwell, Matrix, KMS.*Always leave you conditioner on your hair for at least 5 mins to penetrate into you hair shafts.*You only need to put you conditioner on your mid lengths and ends not on your roots.
* For extra attention wrap your hair in cling film this will keep the heat from your head in and the conditioner will penetrate deeper in the the hair shafts because they will open more.
Make sure you squeeze dry your hair in a towel and don't vigorously rub this will cause damage.
*Always use a heat protection product these come in serums, sprays and creams this will reduce the amount of moisture lost in drying the hair.
*Straighten you hair no more that 2 times a week and always blow dry your hair first this will eliminate the amount of straightening you will have to do to your hair.
*A Brazilian blow-dry is a great way to reduce frizz limit your straitening and repair you hair with Keratin which is a product found in our hair.

Kim Kardashian look was everything a red carpet look should be. Natural, soft pretty and classic. Her very natural make up with fluttery lashes and a rose cranberry lip complimented her modern twist under eyelid bronze shadow. Her hair was a dream from the 1950s. A smooth S curl graced one side of her face, extension free elegant hair style.

ITS AN OMBRE THING!!!

This amazing new hair trend is amazing because any one and every one can have it and you can change it up to suit your individuality. This is soft and versatile and not only that it can be achieved in many different ways. I LOVE IT!!

Natural used to be one colour almost very boring, but 2012 will bring a new technique to the word natural. A gradual fade of colour from dark to light weather it be warm tones or a mahogany to chestnut to a strawberry blonde. Or a dark brown to a chocolate to a golden honey blonde. What ever the shades they will be soft and very subtle.

The name of this stunning technique OMBRE. Don't worry hunnis this can be achieved with out even colouring you hair!!!! and you can add length and thickness at the same time.

As long as your hair starts off the darkest shade at the roots and ends in the lightest shade you can achieve this amazing trend. All the celebrities are doing it!!!

The Ombre should be carried out at a salon by a professional hair dresser. Defiantly don't try this at home hunnis because you will end up damaging you hair as your hair is at its weakest on the ends. Its old hair and has been through a lot more stress so go to a hair salon if you want this look achieved by colouring.

If you don't want you hair coloured and you want to add length and thickness to your hair at the same time..... I will let you into a little secret that all the celebs such as Khloe Kardashian are doing. The weave!! How its done is a weft of hair a few shades lighter is sewn into your hair this can either be to a braid or on to micro rings . These techniques use NO GLUE and NO HEAT so its absolutely safe for you natural hair and the wefts are re usable loosing no length when they are removed and re applied........ Stay tuned hunnis because I will be doing a video to show you how its done I have the micro ring weave and its AMAZING !!!!

If these soft colours arnt tickling you fancy may be this will get you excited. The OMBRE colour is going to be massive for 2012 and so is bright colours in the hair Katy Perry and Lady Gaga have stared this trend in 2011. Katy Perry went all pink and Lady GaGa has been green. Rather than using browns, blonds why not use a blue or purple to add an alternaticve colour.

A top tip if you have roots and you are due to get them done dont as your roots will act as the darker colour!!

Remember a lot of celebrities you see chopping and changeing their hair styles and colours are don with extensions and wigs. Your hair is delicate and easily damaged so talk to you hair dresser. They the best option that suits you hair with out damaging it because you cant colour and add extensions to hair that has broken off.
