Precious: A Film That Never Leaves You

As a reviewer/blogger, I see films A LOT so my approach is often "I came, I saw, I write". I share my opinions about plots, performances, and whether it's worth a trip to the theater then move on to the next thing. However, with Lee Daniels' "Precious" I can't act as if this is blogger business as usual.

If you follow my reviews then you know I sometimes write how a film makes me FEEL. Films that pull me in, make me truly engage and connect with the characters and the story are the ones I'm most passionate about. "Precious" is one of those films.

Despite the familiar brown faces in lead characters the story TRANSCENDS race. It's a story of spirit. Yes, it speaks to us culturally as African-Americans, but NOT exclusively. It's raw in its approach and brutally honest in its delivery, yet uplifting at its core. It's so real that at times I found it hard to watch. So real, in fact, it made me reflect on my own life and how I respond to certain things.

Truly, any artistic expression that stays with you long after the credits have rolled and the applause have ended, or potentially changes your way of thinking is one that should be elevated above the rest. Undoubtedly, this film will impact lives of young and old, black, white, human. That said, "Push", the book by Sapphire which the film is based on, must be equally if not more powerful in its impact. Read it!

The celebrity names attached to "Precious", Oprah, Tyler Perry, Mo'Nique, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, definitely get your attention. But what will keep your attention is how these performers are literally in stark contrast to the public personas we are so accustomed to seeing.

The plain-faced Mariah Carey sans the praticed smile, artificial eye lashes, perfect lighting, and exposed cleavage is remarkable as a social worker. She nailed the look and feel of the tired "overworked and underpaid" case workers that have heard it all before.

Paula Patton also delivers a performance that is stellar. As the person who first exemplifies patience and caring in Precious' painful world, she plays her pivotal role not as the savior we often see in films with troubled youth, but as a teacher and counselor that provides a way of coping that helps Precious save herself.

Newcomer, Gabourey Sidibe, is literally astounding as Precious. "Amazing" also comes to mind, but is used so much in showbiz to describes things that are not that I hesitate to use it here. But in this case I AM in awe and amazement at how this college student who dabbled in theater, brought the myriad of emotions needed to make Precious more than poster child for everything that's wrong in our communities.

And lastly, Mo'Nique as the bitter, violent, manipulative monster, Mary, is so thorough in her performance that audiences will be stunned by what they witness in "Precious" this opening weekend. In fact, many may be horrified and that is the beauty of this role.

Admittedly, I am a Mo'Nique supporter and have been since working together on "The Parkers". I've watched her progression from comedienne to actress and nothing prepared me for her outstanding performance. Not even her dramatic role in Daniels' "Shadowboxer" is close.

Yes, her performance in "Precious" is award winning, but more importantly it's life changing. Mary is a reflection of many ills in society that we don't like to talk about, so we ignore them, until they literally slap us in the face.

Thanks to Lee's superb creative direction, use of color symbolism, moments of humor, and the entire cast's dedication, "Precious" is a monumental success. Even after the box offices are tallied, the award shows are over, and the press has moved on, "Precious" will stay with us because we ARE all precious in His sight.

Janet Flash Mob For New Number Ones Release: Rehearsals

Okay people! I'm putting on my dancing shoes! Warming up the joints--can't drop it like I used--and preparing for the big day, November 14th. And why is that day so special? 'Cause that's the day hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people in LA will come together to commemorate the release of Janet Jackson's "Number Ones" album with a flash mob performance.

Growing up I studied the now famous Janet moves created by choreographers Anthony Thomas and Tina Landon. And yeah, I practiced them in PRIVATE then. Well now in my--let's just say I'm grown--I'm about to differently, way different--by dancing to Janet's hits publicly with a group of some new friends. Roll da video!

This Is It: Michael Jackson's Concert Film Review

I've never seen Michael Jackson in concert personally. Like most, my experiences of his performances have always been through the eyes and lenses of someone else. Yet, even through their prisms, I've felt his energy, his passion, his dedication to his craft. "This Is It" is a testament to those traits and Micheal's "give it your all" spirit we came to know on stage.

On stage is where he transcended, rose above the gossip fodder, the haters, all the mess that comes with celebrity and became an icon. "This Is It" demonstrates what made him such and how he related so personally to his music. Michael Jackson FELT music, became one with it--every instrument and every note. And though musicians are accustomed to playing half notes, there was no room for half stepping in delivering his music. Surprisingly, in the film he literally "called out" a musician for not making a certain sound strong enough so that he could feel it. It was done nicely, of course, but proved his attention to every detail of his music.

How his music makes people feel is a cornerstone of Michael's artistry, and "This Is It" gives audiences a true sense in how the magic happens in live performance. Powerful and affecting vocals, brilliant choreography, and amazing visuals and special effects all work together to pull the emotion right of you. So, if all that is experienced in rehearsal just imagine how astounding the actual concert would have been. As Michael said in the film, "We want to take them places they've never been before." Without a doubt, he would have done that and more.

And just as with any great show, I didn't want it to end. For two musical hours or more, the sad news of his passing was forgotten. Time stood still. He was as present as he had ever been. Michael danced, sang, joked, and uplifted his stage family with his passion and work ethic. Interviews with the dancers start the film and then other performers and designers are heard from throughout the film.

A Day In The Life Of A Tanjareen...Tanjareen Martin that is!

A tangerine is a cute little fruit with big flavor, typically a bright shade of orange in color. Actress Tanjareen--said the same way, but considerably larger than a handful and a lot more attractive--is big on flavor too, but ain't nothing small about her game in Hollywood. She acts, she models, she hikes (Lawd! Does she hike), she sky dives, she produces, gives back to the community, and the list goes on. The girl's got skills and definitely a spirit that's not to be defeated.

So me and the trusty Canon cam thought we'd hang out with her for a day. Call it a "Day In The Life Of A Tanjareen," if you will. We visited her home, then it was off to choose some high fashion designs at the boutique of celebrity stylists, Sterling Capricio. That's Cah-PREESH-shio for you phonetically challenged folks. Lol.

While there we did a mini fashion show then Capricio shared some insider tips on dressing Hollywood startlets which I'll post later. Then next, it was off to get some REAL exercise. You'll see what I mean in the video. I was definitely "gettin' it in" with Tanjareen and the other Valleywood Fit Girls Club members. And though I appeared to be in shape to them, that part of our day proved that I'm IN A SHAPE when it comes to exercise. Lawd! I need to renew my Bally's membership QUICK! Skin: A True Story Delves Below The Surface of Racism

Based On The Real Life Story of Sandra Laing

In "Skin" ten-years-old Sandra Laing is a lovely young girl. She's smart, friendly, and loves playing with family and friends at her home in South Africa. Her parents, Abraham and Sannie, are local store owners. On the surface, their simple lives are picture perfect.

But look closer. By racial description Sandra is a black, but her biological parents are white. To them her skin tone is not an issue; she is their white child. But to the outside world she is black and is to be treated as any "colored" person according to the rules of apartheid.

Still, Sandra's father is determined to make the world see her as he does. Even after the State board classifies her as "colored" and expels her from boarding school, he fights in court to get her reclassified. As his battle gains international media attention he uses it to his favor and eventually Sandra is reclassified as white.

But it's a small victory if at all for young Sandra Laing. As a young woman she comes to realize in her parent's Afrikaner world, her skin and other African features classify her as a "kaffir", or a "nigger" by American definition. Thus, the privileges that come with being white in South Africa are never to be hers.

Despite her parents' attempts to shelter her in their white world, she falls in love with a young black man and runs away with him to Swaziland. Their "interracial" coupling is against the law and Sandra is arrested and jailed for months thanks to her angry father involving the police. Once released, Sandra then makes a decision that will change the course of her life forever.

"Skin" The Movie

This narrative film based on a true story truly explores the complexities of race and white privilege without being polemic nor political. It is not a story of apartheid, but a human story of how the distinction of race at its core is so arbitrary.

So how is it possible two seemingly white parents could produce a black child? The answer is one of simple genetics. To explain it culturally likens it to the "one drop rule". To take it a step further, Google antiquated terms "mulatto", "quadroon,", "octoroon", and the phrase "passing" as it relates to them and there's your answer.

"Skin" does not delve into these distinctions but it does shed great insight into how race impacts individuals even within the same family. Again, it's a human story and Academy Award nominee Sophie Okonedo as Sandra Laing is superb in bringing Sandra Laing's story and emotions to the big screen.

Actors Sam Neill and Alice Krige deliver Oscar worthy performances as well. As Abraham and Sannie Laing, they hold tight to their "white" status despite the proof of their mixed heritage--their children. But dealing with Sandra's ultimate choice is what polarizes them as a family the most.

Overall, "Skin" is one of the best films I've seen all year. The story, the writing, the acting, the music, everything works together so well that I predict Academy Award. Why Hollywood Won't Tell The Real Black Hair Story

Hurray for Hollywood! Once again the entertainment machine has managed to make a film that pisses off the very audience it thinks it knows best based on box office receipts, surveys, and spread sheets. That audience being black folk, African-Americans, the direct descendants of chattel slaves in this country. The film being "Good Hair." The subject: Black hair.

And yeah, I went there with the "slaves" mention because how we as black folk respond to things concerning our hair is often a throwback to past hurts and shames of slavery and Jim Crow passed down through generations. But Rock's film won't address that 'cause that's not a subject mainstream--aka white people, and some black folk too --wants to hear.

However, due to Rock's cinematic approach, the old debate of "good hair" vs "nappy hair" is now up for mainstream discussion. And based on the conversations I've had and observed, those outside the culture can't understand why so many black women are upset. It's not so much about our "secrets" being revealed--weaves and wigs are no longer taboo. It's about how Hollywood in its attempt to make people laugh, has placed black women on a platform to be LAUGHED AT and ridiculed. And that shit ain't funny, especially when it comes from black men.

While fighting mad, black women need to understand Hollywood doesn't give a damn about black hair nor its cultural relevance. What it cares about is your green dollar and how you will spend it opening night. And based on those stats and surveys I mentioned Hollywood execs know exactly how to bait you to the theaters. This is how:

1. Make it funny! Black folk love comedies according to the research. "They don't financially support dramas as well as they do comedies, so keep them laughing and we can laugh all the way to the bank," is how Hollywood thinks. Sadly, we prove them right more often than not.

2. Flash images of black celebs on screen we recognize. We are so hungry to see ourselves portrayed on the big screen we get lured to the theaters only to realize we've been hoodwinked, bamboozled. That said, if you haven't seen Spike Lee's "Bamboozled" or Reggie Bythewood's "Dancing In September", do so. They address black sitcoms but the issues apply to film too.

3. Omit history. Who cares about history? "We're not here to TEACH them just REACH them...them pockets that is." Says Hollywood. Black people don't want to be reminded of the past and white people don't want to feel guilty about it, so historical relevance is often left out or minimized as much as possible. But just in case I'm wrong, check the stats. How many historical black films have made it to number 1 opening weekend? Has a black documentary ever done it? No? Imagine that!

My point is Hollywood isn't going to risk a multi-million dollar budget to make a film it knows statistically will not make a profit. The documentaries exploring the history, politics, business, AND culture of black hair are INDEPENDENTLY produced. And yes, "My Nappy ROOTS" is one of those films. But sadly, we don't support independent films as we should cause we'd rather see celebrities and antics.

We are so distracted by celebrity we too often miss the relevance of the story or the obvious tripod legs, light poles and extension cords--things professionals work hard to hide--hanging in the award winning comedian's shot. Can you say, "after thought?"

WAKE UP and smell the hair relaxer, people! Understand Hollywood is in the BUSINESS of show. If you're looking for a more in depth approach to any subject matter, seek the works of independent filmmakers, authors, etc. Don't rely solely on Hollywood, gossip blogs, the news, etc. to tell you what you NEED to know about your own culture. Most exist to tell you what THEY want you to know. So don't even get mad, get enlightened. Then act accordingly.

Chris Rock Responds to Lawsuit

RadarOnline.com has obtained exclusive court papers from the Central District Of California (Western Division) where Rock defends himself against Regina Kimbell whose own documentary Nappy Roots covers the history of black hair.

In his declaration, Rock admits that he did meet with Kimbell for a private screening of her documentary at Paramount for research purposes for his own movie.

But he denies her claim that she showed him the documentary because somebody from his team told her: “I think we can help you”.

The comedian claims that he first got the idea for his ‘docu-comedy’ when he was playing a comedy gig in Atlanta 17 years ago.

Regina Kimbell is trying to block the public release of Good Hair on October 9, 2009, which Rock claims would damage both his professional and personal reputation.

He denies the plaintiff’s claim of plagiarism and thievery and wishes the court to clear his name in connection with these accusations in her lawsuit.

(HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 7, 2009) - - Filmmaker Regina Kimbell continued her quest for justice filing a request for injunction in federal court in downtown Los Angeles against Chris Rock’s “Good Hair,” scheduled for limited theatrical release on Friday, Oct. 9.

Yesterday, the evidence submitted included an email from Kimbell to Doug Miller, then Rock’s assistant and now “Good Hair” associate producer. In the email, Kimbell lets Miller know that she suspected they were making a copy of the film without her permission.

The court filing against Chris Rock, HBO, and the domestic and foreign theatrical distributors is requesting a halt in releasing the film this week and future release until a verdict is reached by jury trial.

On Monday, Kimbell filed a $5 million copyright infringement lawsuit. The basis for the lawsuit is “My Nappy ROOTS: A Journey Through Black Hair-itage” was allegedly copied by Chris Rock after he and his production team viewed the film in June 2007. After hearing the buzz about the film, Rock requested a private screening at Paramount Studios. Unaware that Rock had a deal to produce a black hair documentary for HBO, Kimbell agreed to let him see the film.

Kimbell’s idea for the movie began in 2002 when her daughter Brighton, then 16-years-old, wrote an essay, which served as the starting point conceptually of a five-minute film, mentored by her mother. As a result, over the years the award-winning film evolved from an essay, to a short film, and now a feature-length film.

(HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 6, 2009) - - Yesterday filmmaker Regina Kimbell filed a $5 million copyright infringement lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles against Chris Rock, HBO, the domestic and foreign distributor theatrical distributors for soon to be released documentary “Good Hair.”

The complaint alleges Kimbell’s movie, “My Nappy ROOTS: A Journey Through Black Hair-itage” was copied by Chris Rock after he and his production team viewed the film in June 2007. After hearing the buzz about the film, Rock requested a private screening at Paramount Studios. Unaware that Rock had a deal to produce a black hair documentary for HBO, Kimbell agreed to let him see the film.

When Kimbell saw the trailer for “Good Hair,” she immediately saw the similarities and was stunned.

“This was an important story for me to tell, which is why I poured over five years of my life researching, traveling, and, shooting this film,” explains Kimbell. “I had a feeling of disbelief and disappointment, so overwhelming that all I thought was I am seeing my film with a different title.”

Kimbell’s idea for the movie began in 2002 when her daughter then 16-year-old daughter, Brighton Lynscot, faced her own hair angst. As a result, Lynscot wrote an essay, which served as the starting point conceptually of a five-minute film, mentored by her mother. The five-minute piece went on to win a NAACP ACT-SO gold medal locally and nationally was recognized with fourth place honors, which had never been done before.

Premiering as a feature-length film in 2007 at the Pan African Film Festival and winning Festival Choice Award for Best Documentary, “My Nappy ROOTS: A Journey Through Black Hair-itage” has evolved from an essay, to a short film, and now a feature-length film. As a short, it won several awards including first place at the Hollywood Black Film

Festival and Best of the Best at FESPACO, the largest and most prestigious international film festival held in Africa.

According to Kimbell's attorney, Reginald K. Brown, "This is a very unique infringement case. Typically, a writer or producer claims that a treatment, outline or a script was stolen. Here, a finished film was misappropriated after a defendant asked to see the film."

This definitive, feature-length documentary film examines the legacy of black hair care through cultural, societal, and political issues in the African American community over time. The film reveals the significance and pride of African hairstyles prior to the first arrival of enslaved Africans to America, where the broader struggle of black people began, to the modern establishment of black hair as an economic mainstay in America. This struggle translates into a billion dollar industry – black hair care – that exists today.

It covers a diverse array of hairstyles from dreads to braids, twists, perms, jeri curls, weaves, and the afro that bridge hundreds of years of African American culture. The rehearsing actors, the busy crew, and the private set lit just right for the upcoming scene...I love watching Hollywood magic happen as it unfolds. And while on the set of new film, "The Greatest Song", I got a chance to meet the magicians on set and behind the scenes...LIGHTS!...CAMERA!...AND ACTION!

Set in Los Angeles,"The Greatest Song", is a romantic story of how seeming opposites attract. Rucker portrays "wordly" music producer, Trent Major, and the film's screenwriter and actress, Aida Rodriguez portrays Salma Munoz, a nice "church" girl. Throwing them together is a church choir competition and other situations that demonstrate the spirit and the flesh can work together to do some good in the 'hood.

I'm looking forward to seeing this film for three reasons: It's written and produced by a woman, directed by a woman, and stars "Why Did I Get Married?" actor, Lamman Rucker. But that ain't all, Lamman is also Co-Producer proving yet again he's more than just a handsome face in Hollywood.

Real Housewife of Atlanta's Nene Leakes LA Book Signing

I'd be willing to bet no matter the event once "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star, Nene Leakes, arrives the fun can truly begin. And begin it did recently in Los Angeles when Nene arrived at Leimert Park's Eso Won's book store to introduce her new book, "Never Make The Same Mistakes Twice: Lessons on Love and Life Learned The Hard Way."

The title is self explanatory. But this time the reality show diva and author shares experiences from her private life without all the cameras. It's definitely a page turner. 2009 MTV Video Music Awards: Award Show Meets Reality Show

It's been a weekend of award shows for me, first UNCF's Evening of the Stars honoring Lionel Ritchie taped Saturday night in Pasadena, and then MTV's Video Music Awards broadcast live tonight from New York. One show, a traditional and respected tribute to a legendary songwriter filled with great performances; and the other, a ratings grabbing televised music event turned reality show and Twitter fodder. Which would you prefer to watch?

Well both shows offer a lot to see but MTV gave us a lot more to talk about it--or should I say Kanye West did. Right now as I type this blog, there are millions of other bloggers, journalists, Twitter, and Facebook updaters busily typing their take on what happened and why. Just watch the damn video!

Obviously, Jesus wasn't walking with Kanye in that moment. My initial response: "I wish a motherf>>>k would..." But Kanye knows what artists or people he can do that to. Ain't no way in hell he would have done that to an established fellow rapper, R&B artist nor even a country singer like Shania Twain nor Rascal Flatts.

As Diddy would put it, it's "bitchassness" at its best to steal a shining moment from a young new artist just to get attention. This was her first MTV award. And just as any bitchass would do, he apologizes on his blog a matter of hours later. Guess trendy shoes, houses, and shit wasn't getting him enough blog traffic so he had to do something outrageous. I'm not adding a link to his site but in some fake attempt at fairness I will share a pic of his "official apology."

To make up for Kayne acting like 14 year old fan, Beyonce graciously called Taylor back on stage so that she could continue her acceptance speech. Applause for Mrs. Hova!

Speaking of Jay-Z. He and fellow New Yorker gave a great performance of his new song, "Empire State of Mind." No doubt the two veterans needed no help with their part of the show, so what convinced artist Lil' Mama she needed to be on stage with them? Again, what the hell is wrong with people? Lil' Mama you'll never grow the hell up to be a "big" girl in the music industry crashing the performance of veterans like that. Let me put it bluntly, "Step back, young-un that performance was GROWN artist business. Go back to your place at the kiddy table and learn to respect your elders."

Lastly, having worked a couple of MTV Awards shows in my career, I know how far show producers will go to make "good tv". Just like a predicted the Eminen and Borat mess was a set up, it wouldn't surprise me if Kanye's and Lil' Mama's antics were not producer driven. Why? Simply because none of the content from the show is allowed on sites like YouTube. Videos of tonight's craziness is exclusively provided on MTV's website. Even the one above from Popeater.com above, is from MTV's servers.

Would MTV pay these artists a little extra to make the show a little more interesting? Hells to the yes! This is the business of show people and we produce the reality we want you to see. Seeing shouldn't always be connected to believing. Feel me?

Jermaine, LaToya, Tito, and of course father, Joe, have all publicly expressed their grief and concerns surrounding Michael's death. And now, Michael's strongest public defender, Janet has spoken.

"I haven't watched the news in weeks. I had to ask my chef, How's Obama doing? I haven't read a newspaper. On top of that, [we've lost] a family member," she says to Harper's Bazaar in an exclusive interview scheduled to hit stands in October.

In the upcoming issue she reflects on the last time she spent with Michael which was May 14th, two days before her 43rd birthday at a family gathering. "We
had so much fun that day. We kept calling each other after and saying how great it was."

Janet was informed of his death while on the set of "Why Did I Get Married 2" in Atlanta and flew to Los Angeles to be with her family. After the much publicized funeral at the Staples Center she, Rebbie, and LaToya spoke to the audience gathered at the adjacent Nokia Center which watched the funeral on screens. Says the article Janet received "thunderous" applause. "I don't remember that at all," she says. "I really didn't want to say anything. I left that night to go back to Atlanta to film."

Thus work has been very therapeutic. And next year Janet fans can look forward to a new book, a new film, and a new album. Co-written by author David Ritz, her book, "True You", is about diet and self esteem. "I can be an emotional eater...Of late, I have been doing that. It started when I was very little. My brothers were gone on tour a lot, and I would miss them so much. Certain things in my life would become triggers. I wish I'd had a book like this when I was that young."

Fortunately, fans won't have to wait until next year to connect with her on a personal level. This Sunday on MTV's Video Music Awards, Janet will pay special tribute to Micheal during the first part of the show. Watch the promo below.

The Maia Campbell Video

I generally don't get bent out of shape over most of what I see on the internet. But today I saw something disturbing to say the least. So disturbing I was compelled to do something.

Most of us remember actress Maia Campbell, the beautiful young lady and daughter of famed author Bebe Moore Campbell, from LL Cool J's sitcom, "In The House" or maybe Tyrese's "Sweet Lady Video". Over the years, we've seen less of her do to mental illness and drug abuse. That's not Hollywood gossip, but a known truth.

Then today while browsing the my social pages I noticed Maia's name repeatedly being mentioned, especially on Twitter. There was a lot of talk about a new video of her on the net and it wasn't flattering. Having missed a previous episode from her life that appeared online in 2006, I wasn't ready for what I saw on YouTube.

Sitting in car, parked outside a home in what appeared to be South Central, was Maia Campbell portraying herself, a drugged out schizophrenic. But sadly it wasn't an act. It was what Maia had become now. And to further add to injury, her attentive audience of a few ignorant friends of a friend laughed and egged her on.

Just a day ago I watched a video of an alleged drug addict singing at a funeral on YouTube and honestly, I laughed a lot. But seeing Maia at this low moment wasn't funny to me. In fact, I was saddened, then angered. It seemed to me Maia had been set up by someone she knew for possibly financial gain through high internet traffic. And that's just wrong, damn wrong.

But so what, right? Who really gives a damn about a cracked out schizo actress? So what her mamma died of a brain tumor. People die every day and the world doesn't shed a tear. So why should I spare one moment to inquire about how to get the video pulled from YouTube and a few black gossip blogs?

Because simply it's the right thing to do. Period. True, you can't really help those that aren't willing to help themselves. But does that give us the right to exploit them when they are at their lowest for website traffic? Hell no! And we all know it. Even Maia asked during the taping for the camera to be turned off, but the camera kept rolling.

So I'd like to see Black Hollywood take a stand, especially those with legal clout. Whether her family, friends, or former co-stars it matters not. Somebody out there still has to care enough about Maia Campbell to see this video pulled from YouTube and blogs.

Jeff Hodge: Comedy Traffic School

There's nothing funny about getting a ticket, right? Truly, all laughter ceases when you hear that signature theme song blaring behind you and see those pretty flashing lights in your rear view mirror. But despite the following DMV woes, you can still have the last laugh! All the way to Comedy Traffic School.

Part-time traffic school instructor and full time comedian, Jeff Hodge turns a long day in DMV "detention" into one extended stand up comedy routine, complete with educational signs and humorous driving techniques. Two years ago I literally laughed my asset off while serving "time" in detention for a minor driving infraction . And then when I returned to the hilarious class a second time, it was not as a student but as a videographer.

Norwood Young's Birthday & Michael Jackson Tribute Party

Combine a lavish birthday party fit for only the King of Hancock Park and the legendary music of the King of Pop and what do you have? An event that could only be described as a "thriller", or better yet, an event Los Angeles will be talking about for days...make that years because Norwood Young, reigns supreme when it comes to throwing a party. To make it plain--and this is not Hollywood hyperbole--"ain't no party like a Norwood Young party, cause a Norwood Young party don't stop!"

I'm not even going to attempt to describe all that was witnessed at his recent bash in historic Hancock Park. Between curious neighbors snapping pictures like Hollywood tourists and onlookers driving by slowly creating 3rd Street traffic jams, the infamous house on the corner of Muirfield was definitely "Off The Wall" last Friday night. "Can You Feel It?"

I can't event tell it all! So, I'm just going to let the video do it's thing! Long live the "kangs!"

Hallelujah in Hollywood: Suzanne Whang Delivers Sermon

While some entertainment blogs wouldn't dare venture off course and address God and spirituality, Hollywood As I Live & Work isn't afraid to show the real source of it's creativity. Trust, "when I look back over my life and think things over, I can truly say that I've been blessed. I've Got A Testimony." And if you've had any success in pursuing your goals in Hollywood, you've got testimony too.

So to put it bluntly, I'll take the attitude of Hip Hop on this and say, "I ain't never scared" to praise or mention God here or anywhere else I am or represented. Talk about name dropping! I'll even discuss spirituality and consciousness because at the end of the day all of it works to my good to generate a "Hallelujah in Hollywood" for me and others.

That said, I'd like to introduce Suzanne Whang, not the famed "House Hunters" host, hilarious "Las Vegas" actress, nor brilliant stand up comic. No, I'd like to introduce to you Suzanne Whang, the universal life minister. The same woman that introduced "The Secret" to me and Oprah Winfrey which I shared years ago on this blog.

Listen to her message and I promise you'll laugh, learn, and be enlightened at the same time.
