Rani the item girl in HOUSEFULL 2

Though there were talks of Rani Mukherjee doing an item number in HOUSEFULL 2, it has turned out to be a hoax call.

"After the success of NO ONE KILLED JESSICA, rumours were flying thick that Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala were very keen to bring Rani on board for a specially designed item number in HOUSEFULL 2," informs a source, "It would have been special because in her decade long career so far, Rani has done only one item number for a film where she is not a lead actress. That was for 'Kaali Nagin' opposite Aamir Khan in MANN."

What would have made this item number further special is Rani being in the same film as Akshay. Though confirmation is yet awaited on whether Akshay and other boys (John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade) would feature in the item song, it seems like a tempting preposition, especially after 'Dhanno' (Jacqueline, Akshay, Arjun, Riteish).

'Maaee' to release on Oct 7

Maaee', the Hindi movie which marks the acting debut of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosale, will release on October seven.
The shoot of 'Maaee' was completed on June eight. Initially, 40 days was scheduled for the shoot of the film but the film has been completed in a record time of only 30 days due to efficient production and technical team and the able cast, sources said.
Asha, who faced the camera for a film for the very first time was a one take artist as a result of which there was no need for retakes which was extremely commendable, said sources in the production unit.
The film also stars Padmini Kolhapure, Ram Kapoor, Navin Kaushik, Anupam Kher, Shivani Joshi among others.
Produced by Subhash Dawar (Alliance Entertainment Pvt Ltd) and Nitin Shankar (Rythm D'vine Entertainment Pvt Ltd), 'Maaee' is directed by Mahesh Kodiyal.

Preity wanted home to be eco-friendly

Preity Zinta wanted to make her dream home in Shimla. A long time ago, she had acquired a plot of land and wanted to make an eco-friendly home there.
However, after much planning, her plans to build a dream home have taken a back seat for the moment, largely due to her busy schedule and the fact that all her financial resources have been exhausted.
When contacted, Preity Zinta said, "Yes I wanted to make a house in Shimla, but now I don't have the time and money to make it. I mean it's difficult to leave everything behind at present. I am clear that I want to make an eco-friendly house.
The plan is definitely there and I will be speaking to a friend of mine who is a big designer and expert in energy conserving houses."
The dimpled actress explained further about her plans for her dream house, "I have a beautiful land near the Golf course. I want it to be lovely and to have central heating, when it is snowing in Shimla. With temperature-controlled rooms and solar energy, it will be a perfect environment friendly house. The land I have is also very exclusive.
With generals and politicians living around me, it's quite a safe home. But I just don't want to make anything right now, as it will take months to complete it. I want to make an energy-conserving house. I wanted to make it back then. However, IPL and the films that I am doing have taken up all my time. Hopefully I will do it soon."

Bollywood Dance diva Madhuri Dixit want to work with the Khans of Bollywood – especially Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Madhuri has shared some great on-screen chemistry with SRK and Salman in the past. The diva has the inspired the KhanMadhuri’s chemistry with both Salman and Shah Rukh has been hugely admired in number of films. She appeared with Salman Khan in ‘Saajan’ and the most memorable ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’, and with Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Anjaam’, ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, ‘Koyla’ and ‘Devdas’.

Karisma coming soon with new movie

Actress Karishma Kapur is returning to films after a hiatus with Vikram Bhatt's next 3D venture 'Dangerous Ishq'. The film is a supernatural thriller and Bhatt's second 3D after the success of 'Haunted'. Karishma was last seen in Mere Jeevan Saathi that released in 2006. "When I first gave Karisma a narration, she loved the story and the script. It's a woman-centric film and she plays the main character. Dangerous Ishq is a supernatural thriller based on past-life regression. We start shooting in September in Rajasthan," Vikram said.
Karishma had stopped working in movies after her marriage to industrialist Sanjay Kapur in 2003. She is also a mother of daughter Samaira, who was born in 2005 and son Kiaan Raj, born in 2010). "It's a role I haven't done before. The script is very interesting and working in the 3D format will be a new experience for me," Karishma said.

Joker revisited

It is a known fact that Shirish Kunder is currently under tremendous pressure as he is now required to revisit his 'Joker' visuals all over again, especially after audience already waking up to 3D visuals with 'Haunted' being a success and Shahrukh too open to the idea of presenting 'Ra. One' in 3D. What is not known is the fact that all of this can pretty much be expected to be a huge task in it's own since Shirish had story boarded the entire film ages ago and had finalised every frame of it.

"This has become a cause of genuine concern for Shirish and his technical crew as now that they have to ensure that 'Joker' goes further notches up than what was being originally planned," says a source connected to the film who wished to be unnamed, "To ensure that 3D technology complimented his vision, Shirish had also put up elaborate sets so that he could utilize every nook and corner of his frames. Whether it was the Chandigarh or the recently concluded Mumbai schedule, he has been pretty much following his designs to the T for every sequence that has been canned so far. To re-look at the film now would be an enormous task."

When contacted, Shirish denied re-looking at 'Joker' and instead claimed that this was an 'evolving' process.

"Technology is growing at a very fast rate; you have to maintain your pace accordingly," says Shirish after a pause, "As for the best 3D effects to be incorporated in 'Joker' then well, in any case this is something that continues to evolve every 2-3 months. We are also following that for 'Joker' but it is not because of any competition from other films."

We would want to trust you on that Shirish, as long as the end results are better than the best in the business!

Ajay SINGHAM releases in July

If things really go as per plans for Ajay Devgn, he would be enjoying a dream run this July when his Singham releases. Such loud has been the roar of his rustic action flick that there is no film daring to release for as many as three weeks after Singham, hence giving it a free run.

"When release date of 22nd July was announced for Singham, quite a few filmmakers were wary there and then and preferred to bring their films to a later date. However, one would have never imagined that leave aside getting into a heads-on clash, no film wanted to come even a week or two after Singham. This is unprecedented", says an industry insider.

There was Mausam which was willing to take up the challenge though. However, just a few days back even this Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor starrer decided to move away from the competition. Though the official reason stated is some additional time that the film requires for post production, the fact remains that for Singham it is a zero competition zone now.

"When biggies like Mausam deciding to stay away, what can be expected from the small films", says a producer on condition of anonymity, "No one would want to come close to an action masala film these days, especially after Dabangg, Yamla Pagla Deewana and now Ready garnering such fabulous response. Everyone wants to protect their interest and the best way out is to stay away."

He could well be right. After all the kind of response that the First Look theatrical promo of Singham has fetched for itself, it is all set to be yet another out and out entertainer that looks extremely positive to be lapped up by the masses. No wonder, there is not even a single notable film confirmed for release on 29th July as well as 5th August with Prakash Jha's Aarakshan being the next big release on 12th August.

"There is no room for ego in Bollywood and I guess it is a right move made by filmmakers here", continues the insider, "Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty combination is unbeatable and though the two have delivered comedy hits so far like Golmaal series and All The Best, Singham is just the right film for the duo to prove it's action credentials. The film deserves an open run for itself."

Last heard, Hema Malini who was planning to bring Tell Me O Khuda (Esha Deol's re-launch film) face to face with Singham is undecided as well and is yet to take a final call. Will the clash indeed happen? Well, your guess is as good as ours

Is Aftab inspired by Salman, Ajay and Surya?

One glance at Aftab Shivdasani's 'mooch' in his upcoming release BIN BULAYE BARAATI and not just it looks suspiciously similar to the kind of look that actor Surya carried in Tamil flick SINGHAM (which has now been remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgn), it also continues the trend as set by some of the recent filmy cops seen on screen.

"As a tough no-nonsense cop, Surya carried a dense moustache that went all the way down till the chin in SINGHAM. Now Aftab too is bearing a similar look though it is for a much softer role in a comedy," says an insider who specializes in designing looks for actors, "Even in Bollywood, this trend is catching up."

Filmfare awards ceremony starts on July 2

The 58th Filmfare Awards 2010 (South) will be presented at the awards ceremony to be held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre at Madhapur on July 2. These prestigious awards are given as recognition of talent in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films.

Young Telugu actor Ram Charan Tej, who held a press conference to announce about the awards ceremony on Friday, described the Filmfare awards as the 'most genuine and prestigious film awards in the country'.

Besides Ram Charan Teja, Worldwide Media chief executive officer Tarun Rai and Idea Cellular chief operating officer (Andhra Pradesh) B. Ramakrishna spoke. The nominations for the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards 2010 (South) were announced in Chennai on May 31.
