Single despite love tweets?

Michael Jackson’s teenage daughter Paris Jackson has said that the love messages exchanged between her and aspiring rapper Romeo Hodges were “just a joke” and that she is still single.

After asking her Twitter.com followers to pray for Hodges following a car accident last month, the pair’s friendship appeared to have blossomed into romance this week. When a mutual friend suggested, ‘Yah should just be girlfriend and boyfriend already’, Jackson responded, ‘idk (I don’t know) Romeo Hodges... are we?’ ‘Let’s hope it’s a yes... my heart has the answer,’ Hodges wrote.

But Jackson cleared the air about her relationship status with a tweet on Friday.
‘Dear media, I’m single...! Sincerely, it was a joke,’ she tweeted. Earlier, the 13-year-old had revealed that she and Hodges had a special song, sending followers to Christina Perri’s Twilight love theme A Thousand Years video on YouTube.com.

The 27-year-old singer’s ex-boyfriend has been comforting her since she and her British comedian husband Russell Brand called time on their union in December after only 14 months of marriage.

Gym Class Heroes frontman McCoy says he has been trying to help the singer get over the break-up, reported Mirror online.

“There will always be a connection between us, I’ll always be there for her. When you’ve been in a relationship like ours, you will always make time for that person. Katy was there for me through my hard times when things were really bad. Life goes on, I have regrets about the way things ended but there are no grudges anymore. I’ll always be there for her, she knows that,” he said.

Sullivan's Travels is about a director who wants to make an 'important' film. John Sullivan, played by Joel McCrea, is rich and successful but his films are lightweight comedies with names like Hey Hey in the Hayloft and Ants in Your Pants of 1939. Sullivan longs to make 'a picture with dignity,' that is 'a mirror to the times.'When his studio bosses point out that he knows little about the down-trodden and what it's like to be poor, Sullivan dresses up as a hobo and embarks on a journey to experience 'trouble.'

Sullivan's Travels is dedicated to the “memory of those who made us laugh…whose efforts have lightened our burden a little.” Sullivan's journey has moments that are laugh-out-loud funny but at the core, there is a real generosity and insight. Sturges, who also wrote the film, doesn't hold back on emotion or tenderness. By the end, like Sullivan, we also understand the value of comedy. The director says,“There is a lot to be said for making people laugh. Did you know that's all some people have? It isn't much but it's better than nothing in this cock eyed caravan.” I couldn't agree more.

Have there ever been sexier outlaws on screen than Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid?. Butch, played by Paul Newman, heads the most dangerous gang in the American Wild West (circa 1905) but he’s affable, funny and hasn't shot a man until halfway through the film. Sundance, played by Robert Redford, is a skilled murderer. He’s taciturn, moody and most memorably, can't swim. Their relationship is the backbone of this epic bromance that has them robbing banks, blowing up trains and eventually moving to Bolivia to escape the law.

The film begins with the instruction: Most of what follows is true. William Goldman who won an Oscar for the screenplay, converts robbers into heroes. They are so attractive that we root for them from the first frame. And they never lose their cool, not even when they are chased for days by a vigilant super-team of cops. These aren’t men. They are instant myths. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is almost impossible to dislike and yet, it was widely panned by critics. Roger Ebert dubbed it 'slow and disappointing,' while Pauline Kael described it as a 'glorified vacuum.' Today the film is considered a classic. Watch and be dazzled.

A Better Tomorrow is essentially a Hindi film in disguise. We have brothers on the opposite sides of the law - one is a cop, the other a gangster. We have a gritty bromance between the gangster and his buddy Mark, played by the effortlessly sexy Chow Yun-Fat. We even have a father figure, a romantic angle and high emotion, all set against the Hong Kong skyline. John Woo’s break-through film made gangsters cool – they sauntered around in dark glasses and long overcoats – and violence, balletic. A set-piece dinner assassination has Mark shooting the enemies as he moves backward, down a long corridor, picking up guns he has hidden in potted plants. In Woo’s subsequent films like The Killer and Hard Boiled, the action became even more choreographed with doves, bodies and blood, mingling with a terrifying elegance. Inevitably, A Better Tomorrow was Bollywoodised. In 1994, Sanjay Gupta made Aatish: Feel the Fire, with Sanjay Dutt, Atul Agnihotri and Aditya Pancholi playing Mark. In fact, I even recall a magazine interview in which Gupta and Pancholi argued about whose idea it was to plagiarise such an apt film. Aatish was predictably lame. Go find the original instead.

Charulata, adapted from a work by Rabindranath Tagore, is a story told with fierce tenderness and empathy. Charulata, played by the stunning Madhabi Mukerjee, is a 19th century housewife, living a life of comfortable inertia in a beautiful mansion. She is curious, passionate and intelligent but all she can do to stay busy is embroider, play cards or observe the street outside through her lorgnettes. Her husband has affection for her but little time because he is too busy being a newspaper editor and railing against the British Raj. His cousin, an energetic, idealistic poet, comes to stay with them. She falls in love with him and tragedy ensues.

This could have been the stuff of soap opera but in the hands of a master, it becomes a great work of art. Charulata is a heart-breaking portrait of a woman, her gilded prison and eventually, a marriage that must find a way to mend itself. There are so many iconic scenes here - from the opening close-ups of Charulata embroidering to a sequence, in which as she swings she slowly realises the extent of her feelings for her brother-in-law. In contrast to female characters in contemporary Bollywood - most of who are inevitably Barbie dolls - Charulata, a complex, flesh-and-blood woman, seems even more remarkable. In an interview with Cineaste magazine, Ray had said that Charulata is “a film that I would make the same way if I had to do it again.” Indeed, it would be hard to make it better.

Princess Diana’s life is set to be made into a movie, and producer Stephen Evans is lining up a Hollywood actress to play the late British royal.

Diana’s film will be based on her bodyguard Ken Wharfe’s memoirs from his book Diana: Closely Guarded Secret.

The Princess of Wales died in a car crash in August 1997.

“We are dealing with about 11 years of her life from just after she had Harry, when he’s aged about two, and it’s partly from the point of view of her protection bodyguard,” contactmusic.com quoted Evans as saying.

“The emphasis on this really is authenticity and to discover what she went through. Unless you are a Diana freak, quite a lot of it will be unknown to the audience. The movie’s not saying she is unbelievably wonderful or she’s a pain in the neck, the audience can make their own view,” he added.

There is a moment in Kung Fu Panda 2, Dreamworks’ stellar follow-up to its 2008 talking-animal blockbuster, that is as clever and subversive as any I’ve seen in recent animated films. Just before the climactic final battle, our hero, Po (Jack Black), thought to have been vanquished, re-appears above a rooftop to declare his challenge to the villainous Lord Shen (Gary Oldman), who sits upon a battleship in the canal below, preparing mount his siege. As Po launches into his speech, the camera pulls back to reveal that Shen is in fact well out of earshot; he can’t make out a single word the panda is saying. Shen pleas in vain for him to speak up, only to give up in frustration and commence his assault forthwith.

There are lovely bits like this scattered throughout Kung Fu Panda 2, little moments that undermine traditional action-movie tropes to hilarious effect. Much praise is owed to director Jennifer Yuh Nelson and returning writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, who have adroitly addressed the chief – and arguably only – complaint about the first film: that its story was too lightweight, too formulaic, too cautiously adherent to the conventional hero’s journey blueprint. Their follow-up may not be as charming or whimsical as its predecessor, but it makes up for it with added depth and emotional resonance.

How much depth, you ask? Genocide, childhood abandonment issues, and industrialization’s destabilizing effects are just a few of the formidable topics touched upon in the sequel. But don’t fret; the filmmakers haven’t suddenly set their sights on Pixar-grade profundity. The tone of Kung Fu Panda 2 is still as earnest and unpretentious – and joyful – as before.

And it’s still anchored by a refreshingly restrained Black as the voice of Po, the chubby noodle-slinger turned kung fu superstar. The second installment finds Po and the Furious Five – Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Mantis (Seeth Rogn), Crane (David Cross), Monkey (Jackie Chan), and Viper (Lucy Liu) – facing a formidable new foe in the diminutive guise of Lord Shen, a seething tyrant whose new invention, the cannon, threatens to make kung fu obsolete. Po has a personal connection with the peacock: It was Shen who, spooked by a soothsayer’s premonition, sacked Po’s native village several years prior, forcing Po’s parents to ship their infant son off to safety – and onto the doorstep of his adoptive father, Mr. Ping (James Hong).

Po’s only hope of victory, his mentor, Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), informs him, is to find inner peace. (That’s all?!?) The path to nirvana is a jagged one, marked with dizzying chases and riveting kung fu battles, all elaborately choreographed and beautifully rendered. As we’ve come to expect with CG sequels, the animation in Kung Fu Panda 2 surpasses that of the previous film, retaining its signature look while adding greater detail and more exquisite landscapes. Though the 3D is top-quality, I would still recommend seeing the film in 2D, if only because of the darkening effect caused by so many 3D projectors. Colors these lush deserve as bright a canvas as possible.

Oscars 2012: Making a Case for 'Kung Fu Panda 2'

The widely-accepted definition of an Oscar-worthy movie is a bit stiff. We think of "prestige" movies—high drama, electric performances, socially conscience material, themes that speak blatantly to the universality of mankind. High art—a label an animated sequel starring Jack Black as a kung fu wielding panda would rarely garner.

But what's a qualifier for "Best" when it comes to movie awards? If it's delivering the difficult balance between goofy, kid-friendly comedy and tender moments of drama in an elegantly produced picture bursting with color and energy (and I believe that is a qualifier for "Best"), than Kung Fu Panda 2 is one of 2011's stand out entries. The movie, up for the Best Animated award alongside Rango, Dreamsworks other 2011 movie Puss in Boots, the Spanish-language film Chico & Rita and France's A Cat in Paris, continues the story of Po (Jack Black), a panda who started as the black sheep of his town, only to rise up to legendary martial arts warrior and save the day. In the sequel, Po and his band of do-gooders, the Furious Five, are tasked by their master, Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), to stop a rising force of evil. Shen (Gary Oldman), a nasty peacock with a serious hatred for pandas, has harnessed the power of explosives and aims to take over the world—unless, of course, Po and the Furious Five can put the kibosh on his plans.

When the original Kung Fu Panda hit theaters in 2008, it came as a bit of a shock. Dreamworks Animation had long lived in Disney/Pixar's shadow as a company that was banking on the low-brow standards of Shrek and its anthropomorphized, cartoon animal carbon copies. But Kung Fu Panda had a level of maturity—still packed with comedy, but with the added perks of kinetic direction, emotional storytelling and stylistic cinematic choices. Kung Fu Panda 2 continues that trend and one-ups its predecessor, with action sequences that rival any live-action movie in the past year (perhaps even ranking above Steven Spielberg's motion-captured Tintin) while logically segueing into a truthful next chapter of Po's journey as a character. Women are afforded a shameful amount of opportunities to tackle big-budget spectacles in Hollywood (in 2011, only five wide-releases were directed by women, only two live-action), so to see director Jennifer Yuh knock the sequel out of the park, with slick camera movements and aggressive fight choreography, is even more inspiring. The movie takes full advantage of its unrestrained form and blows it to smithereens, with a scale and speed that only animation could begin to attempt. No surprise that Yuh took home the Directing Award at this year's Annies.

Kung Fu Panda 2 has a lot of flash, but its dramatic hook is what elevates the film to truly "Oscar-worthy." In the first movie, Po was dealing with the expectations of the world around him as he dreamed of becoming a kung fu master. In number two, the hungry panda confronts his past, the extinction of his race by his nemesis (Po was the lone survivor of Shen's panda genocide) and how he ended up as Dragon Warrior. The strength of the movie's heartfelt message comes from Jack Black's physical inhabitance of Po. That may sounds ridiculous—especially considering the best of the best voice performances barely muster their accolades, let alone "Actor" awards—but what Black is able to convey with voice, combined with the animated expressions of his fluffy counterpart, breathes reality into the pixelated presentation. Same goes for Oldman as Shen, who displays as much vigor in Panda 2 as he does in his Oscar-nominated Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy role. He's a ruthless villain, but one with lyricism and brains, making his ambition to rule with an iron thumb that much creepier. The exquisite acting is another testament to Yuh's work as a filmmaker too. She brings warmth and consideration to quiet scenes of introspection, in an environment that can be maliciously branded and demeaned as a "kid's movie." Her use of 2-D animation in Po's flashbacks is an exhilarating change of pace and a clear indication Yuh's savvy sensibilities.

Kung Fu Panda 2 is nothing less than underestimated and under-appreciated in the Oscar game. The film is not an awards contender in the broad sense of the race, but the top prizes if it came down to quality, compassion and artistry, Kung Fu Panda 2 would put up a good fight.

Alec Baldwin Says He Found Love After He Gave Up, Would ‘Be Heaven’ To Have More Kids

Alec Baldwin would love to expand his family.

While discussing his happiness with girlfriend Hilaria Thomas on “Piers Morgan Tonight” on Wednesday, the British host asked the “30 Rock” star if he’d like to have more children.

“Have I thought about having more kids? Oh sure, that would be great, that would be heaven, that would be fantastic,” Alec told Piers, who two months ago welcomed a new daughter to his own British brood.

Alec then went on to make a joke about his potential plans to have more children later in life. (His daughter Ireland, with ex-wife Kim Basinger, is now 16.)

“As my friend said to me, ‘When you have children, typically in a second marriage, when you’re older and you get married again to a woman who would have children, you must always remember that you make sure [the children] attend a college where the commencement ceremonies are held in a facility with a wheelchair accessible ramp,’” Alec added, tongue-in-cheek.

The actor also addressed dating a younger woman – Hilaria, a yoga instructor, is 27, while he is 53.

Alec revealed he actually sought advice from Tony Bennett, who is married to a much younger woman by several decades, wife Susan Crow.

“I said to Tony, ‘I’m dating a woman who is… younger than I am — she’s a lot younger than I am — and I sometimes think about that and I know, Tony, you’re with Susan and you’re quite a bit older than her,’” Alec recounted. “And he looked at me and he goes, ‘Yeah, people say that to me all the time and I say to them, ’Consider the alternative.’”

The “30 Rock” star said he is “very, very happy” in his relationship and admitted his love actually fit in with an old saying – love will find you when you stop looking.

“It is true what people always say, and it’s tough to make your way to that place, I guess, where you stop looking,” Alec said. “I was married and I was with somebody for 10 years and then after I got divorced, I dated people and I had one girlfriend for several years… and right before I met Hilaria… I did lay in my bed and say, ‘This is it. I’m gonna be alone for the rest of my life, I’m gonna die alone in this apartment in this bed, I’ll have my friends, I’ll have Twitter, I’ll have Words with Friends, I’ll have my New Yorker subscription… I’ll have my quiet, unhappy life, and then right when I put it all on the shelf, and it was over… I walked into a restaurant… and I met this woman who is probably one of the greatest people I’ve ever met in my life.”

The 69th Golden Globe Awards, saw Hollywood descend in all its glory at LA’s Beverly Hilton Hotel. Here’s who came up tops at the show. The Artist, directed by Michel Hazanavicius, emerged the big winner, bagging Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, Best Original Score (Ludovic Bourve) and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy (Jean Dujardin).

Alexander Payne's The Descendants followed, winning Best Motion Picture - Drama and Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama (George Clooney).

No prizes for guessing this one… Meryl Streep won her eighth Globe---Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama---for her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in Iron Lady. Michelle Williams took home Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy for her role in My Week with Marilyn.

Christopher Plummer and Octavia Spencer picked up Best Supporting Actor for their work in Beginners and The Help, respectively. Veteran actor Morgan Freeman was honoured with the Cecil B DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award.

Filmmaker Martin Scorsese took home Best Director for Hugo while Woody Allen's romantic comedy Midnight in Paris won Best Screenplay. Predictably, Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of The Unicorn bagged Best Animated Film.

In the music category, Madonna won Best Original Song - Motion Picture for her number 'Masterpiece' in her directorial movie W.E..

Iranian film A Separation beat nominations from China, US, Belgium and Spain to win Best Foreign Film. Homeland, a thriller series about a man returning to the US eight years after going missing in Iraq, won Best TV Series Drama and Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series - Drama (Claire Danes).

Kelsey Grammer picked up Best Actor for Boss. Modern Family, a satirical take on three different families, bagged Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy while Downtown Abbey won Best Mini-series or Motion Picture made for TV. The award for Best Performance by an Actor in a TV series - Comedy or Musical went to Matt LeBlanc and Laura Dern for Episodes and Enlightened, respectively.

Oscar winner Kate Winslet took home Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-series or Motion Picture made for Television for Mildred Pierce. Actor Idris Elba took the same award in the male category for Luther.

The ceremony oozed glamour with the likes of Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda walking the red carpet.

With award-worthy performances in "John Adams" (HBO, 2008) and "Barney's Version" (2010), Giamatti became one of those rare actors capable of excelling in both leading and supporting roles, allowing him the freedom to oscillate between big budget fare and small indie films, while developing a reputation as one of the most mesmerizing performers of his time.
  Giamatti was born on June 6, 1967 in New Haven, CT, the son of Angelo Bartlett "Bart" Giamatti, a former president of Yale University, and later the commissioner of Major League Baseball who was most famous for banning Pete Rose from the sport for betting on games. But his mother, Toni, was no slouch - she was a prep school English teacher and a former actor. So Giamatti grew up awash in academia, particularly Renaissance literature which was taught by his dad at Yale prior to him becoming president. Giamatti attended Choate Rosemary Hall, a preparatory school in Wallingford, CT, before studying English at Yale and graduating in 1989. The ink on the degree was barely dry when Giamatti's father - a heavy smoker for many years - died of a sudden heart attack at 51 (an actual photo of Giamatti and his father at the graduation was displayed prominently onscreen years later in "Sideways"). An avid collector of comic books and reader of science fiction, particularly H.P. Lovecraft, Giamatti moved to Seattle after his father's death to try his hand at animation. But with little to no success, he returned home to attend Yale's famed School of Drama; a move that shocked his unsuspecting family
  After graduating Yale a second time, Giamatti cut his acting teeth in regional theater before moving on to bigger stages both off- and on Broadway, appearing in Tom Stoppard's "Arcadia" and David Hare's "Racing Demon." He began the segue into film and television, playing a heckler in the made-for-ABC movie, "I'll Take Romance" (1990) and making his feature debut as Kissing Man in the Gen-X hit, "Singles" (1992). After his series debut as a man in a sleeping bag on "NYPD Blue" (ABC, 1993-2005), Giamatti landed meatier roles in "Sabrina" (1995) and "Mighty Aphrodite" (1995). He had a memorable role as an FBI technician in "Donnie Brasco" (1997), followed by small parts in "Deconstructing Harry" (1997) and "My Best Friend's Wedding" (1997). Giamatti burst into the spotlight with a hilarious turn opposite Howard Stern as Kenny "Pig Vomit" Rushton, a virulent radio executive at NBC who tries to intimidate the irrepressible Stern, in "Private Parts" (1997).   Back on Broadway, Giamatti sank his teeth into Anton Chekhov's "The Tree Sisters" at the Roundabout Theater Company at the same time "Private Parts" hit theaters. In "Saving Private Ryan" (1998), he was again memorable in a small part, playing a bumbling paratrooper sergeant who helps Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) and his small team of Army infantrymen on their mission during the Allied invasion of Normandy to find the last surviving son (Matt Damon) of a family deprived of all its male offspring as war casualties. After appearing in "The Truman Show" (1998), Giamatti turned in a scene-stealing turn opposite Kevin Spacey and Samuel L. Jackson in the hostage thriller "The Negotiator" (also 1998). He was impressive as Bob Zmuda, longtime, long-suffering collaborator of Andy Kaufman (Jim Carrey) in the Milos Forman biopic "Man on the Moon" (1999). Following the forgettable "Cradle Will Rock" (1999), Giamatti returned to Broadway to play Jimmy Tomorrow in Spacey's revival of "The Iceman Cometh," a role that earned him a Drama Desk nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
  After serving as the perfect foil for Martin Lawrence in "Big Momma's House" (2000) and portraying a down-and-out karaoke aficionado in "Duets" (2000), Giamatti showed his diversity in balancing two roles - one intensely realistic; the other wildly absurd. First, he played a down-and-out shoe salesman and aspiring documentary filmmaker who focuses his first project on a dysfunctional family, particularly their slacker son (Mark Webber) who wants to be Conan O'Brien, in the "Non-Fiction" segment of writer-director Todd Solondz's bitter "Storytelling" (2001). He was then oddly convincing as the untrustworthy orangutan Limbo in Tim Burton's silly remake of "Planet of the Apes" (2001). In 2002, Giamatti took the stage opposite Al Pacino in a Broadway production of "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui," Bertolt Brecht's play about a fictional Chicago mobster ruthlessly disposing of his competition while trying to corner the cauliflower market. Giamatti turned in a compelling, though cartoonish performance as duplicitous Hollywood executive Marty Wolf, who steals a young boy's (Frankie Muniz) movie idea in the family-oriented "Big Fat Liar" (2002).
  Following a standard supporting turn in the noirish "Confidence" (2003), Giamatti wowed audiences with his performance as the angry and embittered indie comic book auteur Harvey Pekar in the independent biopic, "American Splendor" (2003). Peppered with documentary-style interviews with the real Harvey Pekar, as well as the artist's grittily unusual artwork, the film followed the curmudgeonly misanthrope's rise from a file clerk at a VA hospital to a comic book writer whose depictions of working-class life turned him into a cult celebrity. Giamatti managed to capture Pekar's essence so perfectly, that the sporadic interviews with the real man seemed at times to be out of place. While he was honored for his performance by the National Board of Review for Best Breakthrough Performance by an Actor and nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead, Giamatti was wrongly snubbed at both the Academy Awards and Golden Globes.
  After follow-up turns in the above-average telepic, "The Pentagon Papers" (2003) and the disappointing John Woo thriller "Paycheck" (2003), Giamatti delivered a tremendous performance in Alexander Payne's wildly praised, seriocomic "Sideways" (2004). As Miles Raymond, the failing writer and wine connoisseur who embarks on a revelatory wine country road trip with his soon-to-be-married college roommate (Thomas Hayden Church), he discovers both the darkest and most promising elements of his nature. Giamatti's poignant and affecting performance was both heartbreaking and hysterical (often both at once), and was hailed as one of the best of the year. Although many were shocked when Giamatti was overlooked for an Oscar nomination - though his co-stars Hayden Church and Virginia Madsen both received nods - the actor reveled in his share of accolades, including the Best Male Actor trophy at the Independent Spirit Awards, the New York Film Critics Circle Awards and other regional critics' honors, as well asnominations for Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards. He also did share a SAG ensemble award with his cast mates. Truth be told, he received more ink than he had in his entire career for not being nominated. That Giamatti "was robbed" was a common refrain - heard not just in Hollywood, but from moviegoers around the world.
  Meanwhile, Giamatti provided the voice of Tim the Gate Guard in the well-reviewed animated feature "Robots" (2005), which depicted a world similar to earth but inhabited entirely by mechanical beings. His next big screen role - lensed before the phenomenal success of "Sideways" - was in director Ron Howard's uplifting "Cinderella Man" (2005), playing Joe Gould, the loyal manager of Depression era boxer and folk hero James Braddock (Russell Crowe). The role earned him the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role and a long overdue Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Giamatti next nabbed an opportunity to work with M. Night Shyamalan on "Lady in the Water" (2006), a child-like fantasy that focuses on Cleveland Heep (Giamatti), an apartment superintendent who discovers a wistful water nymph (Bryce Dallas Howard) living in a strange world beneath the building's swimming pool. The nymph is in danger of being destroyed by demonic creatures from her secret world, as Heep and his building's motley tenants band together to help her get back to her world. Though "Lady in the Water" was both a critical and financial disaster, Giamatti did receive kudos for his affecting and wounded performance.
  In the much more critically lauded period drama "The Illusionist" (2006), Giamatti played the shrewd Chief Inspector Uhl, a law-and-order man charged by the Crown Prince of Vienna (Rufus Sewell) to expose a gifted illusionist (Edward Norton) after the prince's fiancée (Jessica Biel) starts working on stage with him. After voicing the bug exterminator in "The Ant Bully" (2006), Giamatti returned to the low budget indie world to play an emotionally stunted man who finds a connection with a red-tailed hawk in "The Hawk is Dying" (2007). He continued to be productive through 2007, playing the leader of a team of shadowy assassins trying to kill a baby protected by the hardboiled Mr. Smith (Clive Owen) in the ridiculously hyper-violent "Shoot 'Em Up." In "The Nanny Diaries," Giamatti portrayed the domineering Mr. X, who, along with his snooty wife (Laura Linney), hires a working-class nanny (Scarlett Johansson) and forces her to cater to the family's ever upper class need. But it was his portrayal as the dedicated, but irascible Founding Father in the seven-part miniseries "John Adams" (HBO, 2008), that earned Giamatti his greatest acclaim to date, winning the actor a slew of awards, including an Emmy, a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a television movie or miniseries and a Screen Actors Guild award for outstanding performance.
  Giamatti kicked off the following year with a turn as a corrupt corporate CEO caught up in a high-stakes double-cross of his own making in the romantic thriller "Duplicity" (2009). Co-starring fan-favorite Julia Roberts and leading man Clive Owen, the smart and sexy film proved to be a moderately disappointing vehicle for its leads, but allowed Giamatti to shine at his vehement best. Once again jumping from mainstream fare to experimental indie projects, Giamatti next appeared as an alternate version of himself a la "Being John Malkovich" (1999) in the quirky comedy "Cold Souls" (2009), in which the depressed actor literally has his soul removed and placed in cold storage, only to later discover it missing. He capped off the year with "The Last Station" (2009), as the foil to the wife (Helen Mirren) of literary giant Leo Tolstoy. As Tolstoy's trusted confidant and disciple, Vladmir Chertkov (Giamatti) lobbies to convince the author to rewrite his will and leave all his worldly possessions to the people of Russia, much to the dismay of Mrs. Tolstoy. What followed was considered by many to be the finest, most nuanced performance of Giamatti's already impressive career. Over the course of three decades, "Barney's Version" (2010) looks back at the storied life of the irascible Barney Panofsky: serial husband, TV producer and possible murderer. Giamatti's brilliant portrayal of the foul-mouthed, cigar-chomping, at times surprisingly endearing cretin earned him a much-deserved Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical or Comedy. Back on the small screen, Giamatti joined an all-star cast for the cable movie "Too Big to Fail" (HBO, 2011), which chronicled the 2008 financial meltdown as seen from the eyes of the major players involved. Giamatti portrayed Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, an academic who helped orchestrate a series of government bailouts of the banking industry that he felt were vital to saving the global economy. Though small in stature, 4'5" actor Peter Dinklage loomed large on both stage and screen. Following his feature film debut in "Living In Oblivion" (1995), where he played an actor who castigates Steve Buscemi's character for making him play a dwarf, Dinklage amassed an impressive resume devoid of clichéd roles. Though most actors his height embraced roles that mocked or stereotyped dwarfism - most famously Verne Troyer in the "Austin Powers" series - Dinklage instead played his characters - not as cruel caricatures - but entirely human.

Born June 11, 1969 in Mendham, NJ, Dinklage knew at an early age that he wanted to be an actor. Perhaps it was performing for friends and family or the fourth grade production of "Pinocchio," that attracted him to the craft. Dinklage was lucky enough to have an artistic and supportive family: though his dad worked insurance, mom was a music teacher and brother Jonathan grew up to be a violinist in Broadway productions. However, Dinklage was the only member of his family affected by dwarfism. Though not easy to cope with early in life, he managed to handle the situation with a sense of humor, even joking that his mom probably drove by the power plant while pregnant with him. Dinklage attended Bennington College in Vermont, where he received a Bachelor's in Drama and was awarded the Libby Zion Award for Dramatic Excellence. He moved on to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, as well as the Welsh School of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Wales. Later, Dinklage appeared in many New York theatrical productions, including "Marking" by Patrick Breen, "Evolution" by Jonathan Marc Sherman, "Imperfect Love" by Brandon Cole and a production of Henrik Ibsen's "A Doll's House."

Dinklage began to appear in films, starting with his brief but memorable role in "Living In Oblivion" (1995), directed by Tom DiCillo. The actor made appearances in other films: "Safe Men" (1998), directed by John Hamburg, "Never Again" (2002), by Eric Shaffer, and opposite Tim Robbins and Patricia Arquette in "Human Nature" (2002). Though always grateful to be making his living as an actor, Dinklage never got the chance - on screen, at least - to sink his teeth into a meaty role until he met actor-turned- writer and director Tom McCarthy. The actor met McCarthy when he was cast as Tom Thumb in the off-Broadway production, "The Killing Act." McCarthy had conceived of the idea for what would become "The Station Agent" (2003) before meeting Dinklage. While out having drinks together, McCarthy was struck by the amount of attention Dinklage received for being a dwarf. This fit perfectly with McCarthy's idea of exploring the theme of isolation. He set out to write the script with Dinklage in mind as the lead character, Finbar McBride, a man with dwarfism who inherits an abandoned rail depot and decides to live a life of isolation, only to find friendship in two unlikely people.

Co-starring Patricia Clarkson and Bobby Cannavale, "The Station Agent" won the coveted Audience Award at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, and for the first time in his career, Dinklage found himself facing a new kind of attention - the recognition of stellar performance and the murmurings of Oscar buzz. Dinklage's careful pursuit of difficult and challenging roles paid off, as he was able to achieve the respect most others with dwarfism had not in the entire history of the business. Coincidentally, right after "The Station Agent" had so effectively showed that his talent and charisma existed separately from his stature, he also appeared in a more comedic vein in a higher profile film, "Elf" (2003), starring as an aggressive children's book author who misunderstands Buddy the Elf's (Will Ferrell) affinity for him. After brief appearances on episodes of "Life As We Know It" (ABC, 2004-05) and "Entourage" (HBO, 2004- ), he was in "Nobody Wants Your Film" (2005), an experimental feature about the making of an independent movie that apparently no one wants. A supporting role in the romantic comedy "The Baxter" (2005) was followed by a regular gig on "Threshold" (CBS, 2005- ), a sci-fi drama about a female government agent (Carla Gugino) who leads scientific and military forces in response to an alien invasion. Dinklage played a linguist and mathematician who likes to partake in the finer things in life - like strippers and gambling. Despite critical support of the show, "Threshold" failed to survive past its first season.

Back in the feature world, Dinklage played a tabloid photographer who runs a misleading picture of a kind-hearted girl (Christina Ricci) in "Penelope" (2006), then had a supporting role as a mob family's defense attorney who is surprised to learn that one of his brash, but charming clients (Vin Diesel) intends to represent himself in "Find Me Guilty" (2006), Sidney Lumet's true-to-life telling of the famed Luccchese crime family trial in the late-1980s. After revealing the kinky secrets of a family's dead patriarch during his funeral in the British-made dark comedy "Death at a Funeral" (2007), Dinklage stumbled in the ineptly made live-action take on "Underdog" (2007), playing a maniacal scientist who suddenly gives a down-and-out beagle superhuman powers. In perhaps his most high-profile feature to date, Dinklage joined the ensemble cast for "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" (2008), playing the loyal, but skeptical Trumpkin, a dwarf who aids the four ancient kings and queens in finding the ruins of Aslan's How.

The New Year’s Eve actress, who raises the girl with husband Josh Kelley, says the couple is keen to give a home to child before trying for biological kids, reports showbizspy.com.

“Josh and I started talking about it before we were even engaged. We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first. I’d like to adopt again,” said Heigl. The 33-year-old star admitted she loved daughter Naleigh from the moment she was put into her arms.
