Jack and his company is in town for one week so I've been helping him out with locations close to the downtown area. He would really love to see Falling Skies before they have to leave next week.

Justin Timberlake Celebrates His 31st Birthday with a Wild Ski Adventure

Looks like Justin Timberlakeloves an adventure! The singer-actor recently rang in his 31st birthday in the rugged back country near Fernie, British Columbia, where he stayed at a local resort, Island Lake Lodge, with a large group of friends for three days. Timberlake and his pals were there for the off-trail snowcat skiing and snowboarding, but there was also opportunity for relaxation.

According to a source, the chefs prepared a special birthday cake for Justin'sdinner party, and he was thrilled by the attention.

While there, a newly engaged Timberlake stopped into a local outfitter, Commit Snow and Skate, to pick up some equipment for his trip, the store's owner confirms. According to a staff member there, Timberlake was "excited and looked forward to some cat skiing" and he came in to shop with a group of people.

Though employees were mostly mum about Timberlake's stay, buzz built about his visit in the community. According to the Calgary Herald, "There was a lot of talk in town. Lots of word of mouth. A lot of people had heard about it or knew about it."

After several days in the studio, Once Upon a Time filmed at Regina Mills' home located in the city of New Westminster.
I had never been to this location so I was very pleased to have the opportunity to spend a couple of hours on set.
I arrived just as Jared Gilmore was leaving. Jared plays Henry Mills. He had filmed a short scene in the house and he caught the shuttle back to his trailer. As a child actor, Jared had to complete up to five hours of school work with a tutor every day.

Last week I spotted Jared on location with another young girl. Perhaps this was Alice because I did spot one of the actor's playing The Mad Hatter. ( Check my earlier post on "Who Fell out the Window )
The scene I watched consisted of Lana Parrilla (who plays the evil Witch with a B and the Mayor of Storybrook) answer a knock on the door only to find the lovely Jennifer Morrison (who plays Emma Swan, the Sheriff of Storybrooke). Emma Swan is also the birth mother of Henry Mills, the adopted son of Regina Mills.
The two women speak, Emma holds up some paper and then a plastic bag. The discuss and Regina walks away towards her car. Emma follows.
If you are already lost, you have to start to watch the show. It is a giant red delicious sweet onion and every episode, a new layer is peeled away to reveal new character and twisty plots. It is a wonderfully entertaining family show that is not a remake or re boot but entirely unique and fun to watch. The stories are based on familiar Fairy Tales that span generations and Disney Magic has repeatedly brought these stories to life in beloved animated and live action features.

There was some casting news today and some exciting casting announcements over twitter. Roger Daltrey playing a the voice character of the caterpillar. Cutting Edge TV posted ,

"Here’s a tri-level scoop for Once Upon a Time fans, with each layer more intriguing then the last. Ready to go down the rabbit hole?A talking caterpillar is coming to the show… The talking caterpillar is going to be just one part of an Alice in Wonderland-themed episode. The title is “Hat Trick.” The talking caterpillar will be played by the Who’s rock legend Roger Daltrey in voice over. Once Upon executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz say the Who’s 1975 rock opera Tommy was “a huge inspiration for the show.” The Alice in Wonderland episode will likely air in March. Sounds like this is one you don’t want to be late for. – EW"

What's Shooting around Vancouver - Hollywood North.

What's shooting in Hollywood North this week.
Things are picking up in Vancouver with several new productions hitting the streets.

There are a couple of gearing up to being filming in Vancouver this spring. One popular new series is "Primeval New World" which is starting near the end of February with the first of 13 episodes.

"Primeval" is a new series similar to the UK version in which a Canadian team of scientist and animal experts take on animals discovered coming through a portal or anomalies. Bell Media and Omni are the producers and it will air on the Space channel.

A TV pilot "Arrow" will also shoot for two weeks in March. "Arrow" is a character spin off from the Smallville series produced by CW network. They are also using the old Smallville space on 6228 Beresford St.
"There’s been a certain amount of buzz concerning the upcoming Green Arrow TV show. On the one hand, some Smallville fans are upset that The CW isn’t spinning-off the Green Arrow character portrayed by actor Justin Hartley on the now-finished Superman origin show. On the other hand, those who never really got into Smallville are happy that the character is getting a fresh start.

Of course, one big issue facing the series is the choice of the lead actor who will play Green Arrow and his alter-ego Olvier Queen, a playboy industrialist who becomes a radical politician /costumed vigilante armed with technologically-enhanced arrows".

"A Christmas Story 2" and "A Christmas Miracle" are two independent Made for Television movies that will are classified as low budget features.

"Hitched for the Holidays" is another Christmas themed Movie of the Week and it begins production February 13 and will wrap March 3, 2012.
Look for them filming in and around Fort Langley and other small town communities.

Another Movie of the Week entitled "The Package" begins filming this week.

Director Brian Levant who is known for "Jingle all the Way", "Are we there yet?" and "The Flintstones" will helm "A Christmas Story 2". The film is currently in pre-production and will begin principal shooting the first week of March.

Local director Terry Ingram who recently wrapped "The Wood Carver" and produces "Health Nutz" will direct "The Christmas Miracle" slated to begin filming February 12 to February 28th.

Big Budget feature, "Red Machine" with James Marsden, Billy Bob Thornton and Thomas Jane began filming last week near Squamish. Squamish is standing in for Alaska. Squamish has become a hub of activity lately with several big name productions using the scenic mountains and water ways for backdrops. The story line is about two estranged brothers, (Marsden and Jane) try to reconnect by taking their girlfriends, Piper Perabo and Kelly Curran on a two day hiking/camping trip only to be sidelined by a girlfriend eating man stalking Grizzly Bear.

Did you know the Grizzly starring in "Red Machine" also had roles in "The Bear" "Doctor Dolittle 2", "Legends of the Fall" and "An Unfinished Life" and is named Little Bart 2 after his namesake Bart The Bear.

Bart the Bear 2 was born January 20, 2000 which makes him middle aged at 12 years old. He had tawny brown hair, weighs in at 1,100 pounds, has golden brown eyes and is 8' 6' at his full height.

Other features starting production this month is the pilot for The Munsters also known as MockingBird Lane. This will be the third go around for the series which debuted in the 1960's and then again from 1988 to 1991. The creator of "Pushing Daisies" Bryan Fuller will write and produce the pilot for NBC. This time around the series is going to be slightly darker and edgier and explore how Lily and Herman Munster arrived at 1313 MockingBird Lane.

"The Seventh Son" big budget feature with Jeff Bridges, Julieann Moore, Ben Barns and Alicia Vikander is slated to begin principal filing the week of March 12.

Keep a look out for locally shot series including, "Supernatural","Fringe", "The Secret Circle", "Once Upon A Time", "The Killing", "True Justice", "Fairly Legal", "Falling Skies" and "Continuum".

I can't give away any secrets or spoilers but I did meet a new character on set today. Lets just say he has a big hat.
The girls continued working in and around the estate home and the Stranger rode his motorbike.
The yellow bug plays a part in this episode. There is drama, intrigue and some really great stunts.
Had a nice chat with the stunt man on set today. He was very nice and very good looking. Found out he worked on Fringe. He was the guy who did the 16 story fall out of the window in the building downtown. Here is the link, on youtube. He also worked on New Moon. I wanted to speak to him more but I was called away.

The actor, who was soon back in L.A. for the SAG Awards, pedaled to Cardero's Restaurant, where he joined friends for brunch after zipping through downtown in a peacoat and hat. When he pulled up, the actor asked if he could park his ride in the kitchen, and the restaurant's manager obliged. Wilson grabbed a seat by the fireplace, then enjoyed views of the harbor and Stanley Park during his 45-minute meal with pals.

After brunch, the actor headed out on his bike again for a solo ride around town – and was later spotted in Stanley Park. While in town, the actor also enjoyed the nightlife, meeting up with friends for Italian food at The Bibo and, later, Pierre's Champagne Lounge inside Chinois Restaurant, where he attracted a crowd of female fans who spent the night chatting – then, later, Tweeting about their encounters. – Christine Kilpatrick

The day started with seeing Henry at his school with Emma. They were sitting in the playground at a table. Henry pulled out his book from his back pack and Emma sits looking and reading a chapter. Henry runs into the school with is little class mates.

The production moved to a huge mansion that was previously used in Supernatural. Ginnifer Goodwin, (Mary Margaret) and Jennifer Morrison (Emma) exit the house in the back yard.

Emma pulls a tarp off her hidden punch buggy and then suddenly "The Stranger" rides up on his motorcycle. The bike is a beautiful beast, all horse power and chrome. The Stranger greets the two women and they have a discussion.

In Seattle, Det. Sarah Linden is on what is supposed to be her last day on the job. She and her son Jack are supposed to leave that evening to join her fiancé in Sonoma. Her replacement, Det. Stephen Holder, is ready to take over but they answer a call from a patrol car who have found a bloodied sweater in a field. When the missing girl, Rosie Larsen, is found in the trunk of a car at the bottom of a lake it turns out the car is registered to the campaign committee for councilman Darren Richmond, who is running for mayor. The Care Taker's Cottage

This has to be one of the most popular filming locations in North Vancouver. It is located off of Highway #1 on a lane way and you would miss it if you didn't know where you were going. Lucky for me I had someone show me this beautiful location last week. Thank you Anne Marie.

The Murdo Frazer Par 3 Golf Course location has been seen in Supernatural, Stargate, several movies, and music videos over the years but the most recent use was for an episode of ABC's Once Upon A Time. This was the cottage where David and Mary Margaret sought out shelter during a rain storm.
There is a path that goes around the cottage and a small pond on the far side. The resident ducks have been fed and followed us as we walked around the edge of the pond. There is a beautiful creek that runs through the property and was fairly fast flowing due to the recent heavy rain. There is parking at the Par 3 but it doesn't open until March. You can still walk the trails around the park. There are people living in the cabin and that is why I didn't go peeking in the window.

New Series "Out of Time", a Shaw Media production was spotted filming their first episode downtown Vancouver last week. I have the pics.

"Falling Skies" with Noah Wyle and a ton of local talent continues to shoot around Vancouver. They were spotted at Riverview last week.

Billy Bob Thornton's been spotted in Vancouver prepping for "Red Machine". Joining him are James Marsden and Thomas Jane . Thriller

New feature film "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" with Logan Lerman and Gin Carano (Haywire) will return to Vancouver this spring.

Pre-production & sound stage construction underway for "The Seventh Son" in March. Look for Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges, & Ben Barns.

The Secret Circle, Once Upon A Time, Supernatural, Alcatraz, Fairly Legal and Fringe are all back in production around Vancouver after the Christmas break.

Thanks to a tip I found the Winchesters filming in Fort Langley. It was a very cold and snowy afternoon and I first spotted the pair getting into a little pick up truck with a trailer attached to the truck.
The main street of Fort Langley was made up for a small town near Portland Oregon.
Many of the shops had For Sale Signs and Going out of Business Signs in the windows.
The boys worked on that scene and then drove the truck and trailer down the street.
The next scene was in front of the Post Office. I watched Jensen carry a box and put it in the trunk of an old black trans am. I think it was a trans am. This is another new vehicle for the boys who seem to be on the move again.

Jacky Cheung looks thrilled with his reception in Vancouver.

Jacky Cheung arrived from Hong Kong with a small entrouge but was greeted by a fans and seven body guards.
I think the body guards were not needed and caused more trouble than necessary.
Jacky went right to the fans to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans.

The bodyguards crowed Jacky and although the fans wanted pictures, he was gracious and posed for as many pictures as needed There were about thirty people at the airport to meet him from his long flight from Hong Kong.

He seemed very thrilled with the attention and humbled with the presentation of the beautiful bouquet of flowers.

This is Jacky's first visit to Vancouver and he will be performing at Rogers Arena tomorrow night.

Filming took place at a working farm in Delta. There were several high school kids and a few other teens that were working on a scene. Kevin stepped in and worked on a scene with a few younger kids.

Kevin was in Vancouver for a few days and left soon after wrapping his role in the movie.

The new television series, Alcatraz has been quietly filming around Vancouver for the past several months. The premier of the latest creation to come from JJ Abrams makes its television debut on Monday January 16th on the Fox network. JJ Abrams is also the producer or locally shot series Fringe and the executive director of Mission Impossible 4, Ghost Protocol among other popular television series and feature films.

Jorge Garcia (Lost) makes a television comeback as Diego Soto and stars along side Sam Neill (Jerassic Park ) as Emerson Hauser and Sarah Jones ( Sons of Anarchy) as Rebecca Madsen.

The complete mid season series will air all episodes starting and January and ending in March.

For while he may be the first, it quickly becomes clear that Sylvane won’t be the last prisoner to reappear from Alcatraz. Through the course of the investigation, Madsen and Soto will learn that Agent Hauser has known about the prison’s secret history and has been awaiting the prisoners’ return. Soto will witness his life’s work – the history of Alcatraz – come alive. Madsen will be forced to keep her supportive San Francisco cop fiancé, JIMMY DICKENS (Santiago Cabrera, “Heroes”), at arm’s length from the highly classified assignment as she sees everything she thought she knew about her family’s past shattered, all while fighting to keep the country safe from history’s most dangerous criminals.
