He played for the White Sox for 15 years and then moved on to Oakland and Toronto. He was the face of the White Sox in the 90's and did a lot of great things with them. Most of his career accomplishments came as a member of the White Sox and those include:

-Five time All-Star selection (1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997)

-World Series champion (2005)
-Four time Silver Slugger Award winner (1991, 1993, 1994, 2000)
-Two timeAL MVP (1993, 1994)
-2000 AL Comeback Player of the Year
-1995 Home Run Derby champion

Frank Thomas will be in the Hall of Fame if you ask me. He certainly has the numbers.
Batting average- .301

Home runs- 521
Hits- 2,468
Runs batted in- 1,704

Congratulations to Frank Thomas on a wonderful career. Hopefully the White Sox will retire his number and keep it retired. He definitely brought life to the Chicago White Sox organization. Big Hurt your hurtin' on pitchers will never be forgotten

Now that he's with the White Sox, he can no longer wear 13 because manager Ozzie Guillen wears that number. To give Vizquel a number close to 13 they unretired Luis Aparicio's number 11. No one's making a big deal about it now but I don't think it's right to unretire someone's number. It is supposed to honor the player and his contributions to the team they played for.

No one would ever go to the Chicago Bulls and try to wear Michael Jordan's number 23. It would be unthinkable and outrageous. No one would ever go to any of Wayne Gretzkeys teams and wear number 99. No one would ever go to the 49ers and wear Joe Montana's or Jerry Rice's numer. In Nascar no one will ever drive a car with the number 3 on it.

The only time a number should be unretired is if the player comes back out of retirement or become a coach. When numbers are retired they need to stay retired.

That means twenty people will be swiched over. This includes two commentators, one General Manager and one ring announcer. One of two things are going to happen. Either Raw and Smackdown will both be three hours long or there will be a lot of stars that will be released. Consequently, if stars are released they will most likely go to TNA. There won't be an ECW championship, and hopefuly the Abraham Washington show will be gone as well.

I am glad the name ECW is being dropped but not the show on Tuesday nights. Using the name ECW was an insult to everything Paul Heyman created in the 1990's. ECW used to stand for much more than what WWE turned it into. I think the group of stars on Tuesday nights were working well together and I am going to miss the wrestling I saw on Tuesday Nights. In the long run I think WWE is going to be hurt by getting rid of Tuesday nights ECW.

ECW will be replaced with WWE: NXT, the next generation of wrestling. I have no idea what NXT will be about. Many people are saying that it will be like the old reality show WWE: Tough Enough. Others are saying it will revolve WWE's developmental company Florida Championship Wrestling.

There are many second and third generation stars in FCW. Hennig, DiBiase, Steamboat, Rotunda, and Windham being just a few. They could draw veiwers because of their family's legacies. Tune in on February twenty-third to see the new NXT on SYFY.

Will NXT be sucessful or will it fail? Stay tuned to find out.

Part 2

I wrote about this last summer, but I feel I need to write about it again because of what people are saying. People are stating that Peyton Manning the greatest Quaterback of all time. How can you call someone the greatest Quarter back of all time, when the rules and the way the sport's played changes every once in while? I don't doubt Manning is the greatest of his era, but of all time is a stretch. Many great players have come and gone, and there are players that will come in the future. No doubt they will be the greatest of their era.

In basketball you could make a case for Michael Jordan being the greatest. Take a look at who came before him. Players like Magic, Bird, Chamberlain, and Kareem. Then look at those who came after him. Players like Kobe and Lebron. They were all great players during their eras, but you can't say they are the greatest of all time.

How can you determine who is the greatest of all time in baseball? For nearly 20 years there were steroids and in the years prior there weren't.
Bonds, McGuire and Clemens were all great in the steroid era. How can you discredit those who didn't use steroids? Should they be considered the greatest of all time, even though their numbers weren't as high as those who used?

In Nascar, some say that Jimmie Johnson is the greatest driver of all time. He's won four Nextel Sprint cups in a row making him the greatest.
Petty and Earnhardt have won seven cups without the chase. I am sure if Petty or Earnhardt had their points reset with 10 races left they would have won more cups. Mathmaticaly Johnson would only have one cup to his name if the old points system was still followed. So tell me now, who is the greatest?

You can make the case in hockey, golf, bowling or any other sport for that matter. A player can be the greatest of his team or of his era. Maybe even the greatest in the fans eyes, but at the end of the day no one can be called the greatest of all time. I dare anyone to try and justify making that statement about anyone.

Super Bowl XLIV was the most watched TV program in television history. The Super Bowl beat out former record holder M.A.S.H. when 106 million people tuned in to watch Sunday's game. There have been a lot of TV shows and none of them have even come close to the record. The companies with adds during the Super Bowl must be extremly happy, because their products were seen by the entire country.

Congratulations to the Colts, Saints and the entire NFL for making history. This is monumental and the number of viewers is going to make this a very hard record to beat. I don't know of anything at this point that could beat the record setting numbers seen by Super Bowl XLIV. New Orleans should be proud and America should be proud. This a wonderful story with many faces and heroes. Super Bowl XLIV and the 2009 New Orleans Saints will never be forgotten. Their legacy will live on forever.

Now the man that had all the money is going to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. Ted DiBiase started wrestling in 1975 in Mid-South Wrestling and various stints in the WWE. He was trained by Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk. He didn't make his name until 1987 when he came back to WWE as the Million Dollar Man. The Million Dollar Man was all about the money, and would brag to the fans and other wrestlers about how much money in he had. His first feud was with Hulk Hogan but he always came up short and couldn't win the WWE title. He bought the services of Andre the Giant to beat the Hulkster. Andre beat Hulk with a paid off referee and then handed the title over to Ted DiBiase. President Jack Tunney stripped him of the title.

After DiBiase lost in the finals of Wrestlemania 4 for the WWE title, he created his own title called the Million Dollar Championship. It wasn't a regulated WWE title so he didn't have to defend it if he didn't want to. The other reason he was such a good heel was because of his mistreatment of his bodyguard Virgil. After 4 years of taking abuse from DiBiase Virgil eventually became fed up with DiBiase. Ted also had notable feuds with Roddy Piper, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Dusty Rhodes and Randy Savage. Ted also formed Money Inc. with I.R.S. and won the WWE tag team championship.

Unfortunately, his career was cut short because of a severe neck and back injury. His last match was against Razor Ramon at Summerslam 1993. He then went on to become a commentator and a manager forming the Million Dollar Corporation. When Stone Cold Steve Austin first came to the WWE as "The Ringmaster" DiBiase was his manager. In 1996 Ted left WWE and headed to WCW. He was with n.W.o. and the Steiners until he retired from wrestling in 1998.

Ted often appears on WWE television but is dedicated to his church and ministry. He has helped other wrestlers like Shawn Michaels and Sting become born again christians. For me as a wrestling fan and a christian I totally love that about Ted. He's passionate about his faith and helping people. Ted's legacy will live on through his sons Ted Jr. Mike and Brett. Congratulations to "The Million Dollar Man", Ted DiBiase for being named to the WWE Hall of Fame.

Before I get to that fight, there were some other great fights that happened on Saturday. The two big mouths of UFC, Matt Serra and Frank Trigg squared off and Serra defeated Trigg in the second round. It didn't matter who won because I can't stand either of them. Demian Maia and Dan Miller went the distance in their fight with Maia winning by unanimous decision. Mike Swick lost again and this time it was to Paulo Thiago by submission. Then Nate Marquardt and Chael Sonnen went the distance with Sonnen winning by unanimous decision. The main event of the evening was Randy Couture and Mark Coleman. Couture looked like an absolute beast and still proves he's got it and that age is only a number. Couture choked out Coleman in the 2nd round to further cement his legacy as the greatest fighter in UFC history. Couture has left a long lasting legacy that no one will ever forget. In my opinion he's far from being done. I think he still has a few good fights in him left. Only time will tell to see what he does. Stay tuned for more on Randy Couture and the UFC.

Here is how I did this week in hockey

Team Blitz 3-7-0
Hollywood's World of Sports 7-3-0

The categories I won were G, A, +/-, PPG, SOG, W, and SV%. My players of the week were Dany Heatley, Wojtek Wolski, and Brian Elliott. I am currently 3rd in my division and 4th overall. I am still in the playoff picture for the time being. There is not that many weeks left so I need to maintain my position so I can make the playoffs. Stay tuned and keep checking back for more.

I just can't seem to win anything right now. Here is how it ended up this week for me.

Nate's Playmakers 5-3-0
Hollywood's World of Sports 3-5-0

The categories I won were FT%, 3PM and BLK. My players of the week were Steve Nash (no longer on my team),Dwight Howard (no longer on my team), and Andrea Bargnani. Yes I traded Ray Allen, Dwight Howard and Steve Nash because I am out of the running for first place so I traded them to someone who needed them more. As of right now I am 57-62-1 which puts me at 3rd in my division and 6th overall. There is only a few weeks left so if I want to have any chance of making the playoffs I better start winning quick. Check back next week to see if I rebound from my losing streak. The New Orleans Saints were the underdogs and the sentimental favorites. The Colts looked really tough in the first half. New Orleans didn't really seem to have an answer in the first half when it came the Colts moving the ball. At Halftime the score was 10-6 in the Colts favor. However in the second half, the Saints started off with an onside kick and actually recovered it. This led the Saints taking the lead 13-10. The Colts answered right back with a touchdown making it 17-13. The third quarter was probably the best quarter of the game. The fourth quarter proved to be an exciting one when Peyton Manning through an interception for a touchdown with only 3:12. He proved without a shadow of doubt that he's just like any other Quarterback in the NFL, and that he will make mistakes when the pressure is on. That touchdown pretty much sealed the deal for the Saints. The Colts tried moving down the field again but Peyton and the rest of the offense collapsed and he proved that he is no better then Brett Favre, Tom Brady or any of the other great Quarterbacks in the league. He is not invincible and I hope people start understanding that. The final score was 31-17 and Drew Brees was named MVP. This is the first ever win for the Saints in the Super Bowl. New Orleans is probably still celebrating and will continue to celebrate for awhile. Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints on their season and Super Bowl win.

Now as for the commercials. Their were some really hilarious ones if you know what I mean. I thought the Denny's, Doritos, and Boost Mobile commercials were great. I loved how they brought back the Super Bowl Shuffle and made fun of it. I also loved the Simpson's Coca-Cola commercial. That was some interesting stuff. I really loved the Snickers and Budweiser commercials. They were hilarious as well. Before I forget the Monster.com with the Fiddling Beaver was absolutely off the wall crazy. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life. The one commercial that was cool was Tim Tebow and his mother talking about his birth and being a miracle baby. It was a very gentle message that didn't even mention the word abortion like so many people thought.

So between the game, and the commercials it was definitely a great Super Bowl and one I won't forget anytime soon. Saints win, and now the off season has started. Stay tuned for the NFL Draft in April. Congrats to the Saints again and enjoy the victory, you guys earned it.

I would like to start off by talking about Jerry Rice. Jerry Rice will always be known as 49er and one of the all time greats at that. He was drafted in 1985 and definitely made a name for himself in the NFL with all of his accomplishments. His accomplishments include:

-Thirteen Time Pro Bowl selection (1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2002)
-Eleven Time First-team All-Pro selection (1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996)
-Second-team All-Pro selection (2002)
-Three time Super Bowl champion (XXIII, XXIV, XXIX)
-NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team
-NFL 1980s All-Decade Team
-NFL 1990s All-Decade Team
-1993 NFL Offensive Player of the Year
-1987 NFL Offensive Player of the Year
-1987 Bert Bell Award
-Super Bowl XXIII MVP
-1996 Pro Bowl MVP

Jerry Rice also played for the Raiders, and Seahawks. He tried out for the Denver Broncos in 2005 but miss the cut. Jerry Rice will always be a champion, a great ambassador of the game and a real pro of the game.

Alongside Jerry Rice will be Emmitt Smith who was apart of a great Cowboys dynasty in the early 90's. He was drafted in 1990 as the 17th overall pick. His records and achievements are endless as well. This is what Emmitt Smith has accomplished:

-Eight time Pro Bowl selection (1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999)
-Four time First-Team All-Pro selection (1992, 1993, 1994, 1995)
-Second-Team All-Pro selection (1991)
-NFL 1990s All-Decade Team
Three time Super Bowl Champion (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX)
-1993 NFL MVP
-1990 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year
-Super Bowl XXVIII MVP
-Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor

Both Emmitt and Jerry hold numerous records that may never be broken. Both have been on Dancing with the Stars. Rice finished second the year he was on and Emmitt won the whole thing the following year. Both Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith both deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. Alongside them will be Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Dick LeBeau, Floyd Little, and John Randall. All of these men have had great and successful careers. Congratulations to all of the 2010 Hall of Fame Class.

The Bud Shootout was yesterday and it was dominated by Carl Edwards until the last laps of the race. The drivers were being very agressive and it felt like I was watching a dog fight. Kevin Harvick ended up winning on the last up due to a massive wreck started by Jeff Gordon, when he spun out Carl Edwards. Tempers were flaring in the race so that maybe a sign of things to come.

Earlier in the day Danica Patrick raced her first stock car race and she ended up finishing 6th. Thats pretty impressive for your first race at the greatest race track in the world. She was just as agressive as the men and showed that even though she maybe a woman she definitely belongs in racing. I look forward to seeing what she does the rest of the year.

Also, Mark Martin and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are on the front row with Martin capturing the pole. The Twin 125's are Thursday and that will determine the rest of the field. The 500 is next Sunday on FOX and the race starts at 1pm. Stay tuned for more this week as I continue my coverage on the Great American Race.

USC has recruited a David Sills, who is 13 and lives in Delaware as their Quarterback for the future. Isn't this a little too young? I think so. The kid hasn't even his puberty and isn't even in his freshman year of high school. Apparently he is not the first person this age to be recruited this year but I think the NCAA needs to come down on Colleges for recruiting this early. This commitment is going to distract this kid all throughout high school. He's got so much pressure on him at such a young age, it's going to be hard for him to focus on what's really important.

I think the minimum age you should be allowed to recruit someone is 16 because they are in high school, the can think for themselves and they will already have an idea of what they want to do for their future. I don't doubt that this kid will be a great Quarterback but I think he's going to be so stressed out by the time he gets to USC, he will let the pressure get to him. This kids is going to have an ego, will be money hungry and will probably get greedy about things in his life. Like I said the NCAA needs to crackdown on how young kids can be recruited to college. Stay tuned for more on this topic and please give me your opinions on the matter.

Edge started off Raw declaring his victory with until Sheamus interrupted him. Sheamus and Edge went at it and Edge finished the segment with a spear. Their were 5 matches to face Sheamus in the Elimination Chamber for the WWE Championship. The men who qualified were John Cena, Triple H, Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase and Kofi Kingston. I think this is going to set up Ted DiBiase vs. Randy Orton at Wrestlemania and possibly Triple H and Sheamus depending on what happens with Shawn Michaels. Shawn Michaels has been obsessed with facing the Undertaker again and it's costing him matches. Will Shawn get his wish or will he left off Wrestlemania? The show ended with Bret Hart and Vince McMahon having their confrontation. Bret was beating the crap out of Vince until Batista came out and beat up Bret for Vince. I wonder what the ramifications of those actions will be? Next week on Raw there will be a Triple Threat Tag Team match for the Unified Tag Championships. It will be DX vs. Straightedge Society vs. The Miz/Big Show.

On ECW the show was mainly revolved around Christian and Gregory Helms. Zack Ryder attacked Helms for getting arrested last week and Christian defended. Helms was attacked by William Regal and Ezekiel Jackson for asking tough questions. The Main Event was Christian vs. Zack Ryder. Christian won but got attacked by Jackson and Regal after the match to end the show. ECW will be done in three week and will be called NXT.

Then tonight on Smackdown which was taped Tuesday you will see the Smackdown Elimination Chamber be set. The show started with Chris Jericho saying he's the number one contender for the World Championship. Five men qualified to face the Undertaker in the Elimination Chamber for the World Title. Those men five men are John Morrison, R-Truth, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, and Rey Mysterio. The show ended with the Cutting Edge that saw Jericho, Punk and The Undertaker all get involved. Edge and Taker eventually cleared the ring out by attacking Punk and Jericho. The show ended with Edge and Undertaker staring each other down.

The vibe I am getting for Wrestlemania 26 has a few matches being setup right now. Here are the matches I am thinking about.

WWE Championship- Triple H (c) vs. Shawn Michaels
World Heavyweight Championship- Chris Jericho (c) vs. Edge
Hair vs. Mask CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio
Randy Orton vs. Ted DiBiase
Bret Hart/John Cena vs. Vince McMahon/Batista.

That's what I am thinking right now, so keep checking back each week on how the twists and turns on the Road to Wrestlemania effect the WWE. Keep checking back each week for Wrestlemania matches, news and more.

The show started off with Mr. Anderson vs. Brutus Magnus for a spot in the Wild Aces Tournament at Against All Odds. It was really weird because Anderson and Magnus are heels but in this match Anderson was the more dominant heel. Then after the match the Eric Bischoff and Mick Foley saga continued and Bischoff announced Mick Foley vs. Kevin Nash in a Street Fight for later on that night

TNA Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles took on The Pope and it was a really great match. The Pope actually defeated the champ but received a beat down after the match from Styles and Flair. Samoa Joe came down and made the save and declared he was cashing in his briefcase at Against All Odds for a TNA World Heavyweight Championship match. Earlier in the night Joe beat the crap out of Jesse Neal and sent a message to AJ.

Kurt Angle defeated Tomko to qualify for the Wild Aces tournament but he wasn't done for the night yet. He confronted Hogan and accused him of having Hall and Syxx-Pac attack him. Kurt told Hulk if he screws with him again he's going after him. I personally would love to see another match between Hulk Hogan and Kurt Angle that they had in WWE.

Angelina Love took on TNA Knockouts Champ Tara. It was a really good match until the Beautiful People got involved. Tara returned to favor and helped Angelina fight them off. Also Team 3D took on Morgan and Hernandez in a really good match which saw Morgan and Hernandez win the match and then help Team 3D after the match when the Nasty Boys beat them down.

The Main Event saw Kevin Nash and Mick Foley in a street fight where Nash totally brutalized Mick. After the match Syxx-Pac and Hall attacked Nash which surprised me unless it's a set up to get themselves in. The show ended with Foley and Nash laid out on the mat. It was another good Impact and I'll be curious to see how next is with a PPV coming next Sunday. I have made a couple of trades out of desperation. I know they are horrible trades to a certain degree but I just wasn't winning with the guys I had. Here is how the trades went down.

Receive Kevin Martin, Sac SG from Right to Bench
Receive Al Jefferson, Min C from Right to Bench
Send Steve Nash, Pho PG from G to Right
Send Dwight Howard, Orl C from UTIL to Right

And here is the second trade I made

Receive Eric Gordon, LAC SG from Russo to Bench
Send Ray Allen, Bos SG from SG to Russo

I know everyone is thinking, what the hell going in his mind? Well it is virtually impossible at this point to get to first place so that's why I made the deals I did. If anyone from my Fantasy Basketball League reads this I am willing to trade anyone else on my team because I've pretty much have given up for the year. Just give some players to work with and I will give you whoever you want.

If you truly love racing, then you should drive at the track that people only dream about driving or even being there in the stands. Danica has committed to 12 races for the Nationwide Series this year and here they are.

California (Feb. 20)
Las Vegas(Feb. 27)
New Hampshire (June 26)
Chicago(July 9)
Michigan (Aug. 14)
Dover, Del. (Sept. 25)
Fontana (Oct. 9)
Charlotte (Oct. 15)
Madison, Ill. (Oct. 23)
Texas (Nov. 6)
Phoenix (Nov. 13)
Homestead, Fla. (Nov. 20)

She will take a four month hiatus for her IndyCar schedule. I think she will realize right away that she cannot do both and be successful at both. Eventually she will leave IndyCar for NASCAR and she will make history in NASCAR. Only time will tell if she can hang with the big boys of racing. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a smart man for signing her. She will make him a lot more money then he already has now. Stay tuned for more on Danica and NASCAR throughout the season.

He said it would be replaced with a new innovative show called WWE NXT which stands for Next Generation. One can only imagine that a lot of Florida Championship Wrestling stars will be on this show. I for one am glad it's not called ECW anymore because it wasn't the same ECW that ran in the 90's. ECW stood for hardcore, and violence but it was also about heart, passion and leaving everything in the ring. That was not the same ECW I've seen on SyFy over the last three years. WWE did a great job with destroying the name of ECW. I really hope this NXT turns out to be good because if it doesn't then a lot of great wrestlers will be out of a job. WWE needs to get together. It's the Road to Wrestlemania right now and this is the time to get it all together. Stay tuned for more on all of these changes and what they'll look like.

There have been a lot of great players who have played for the Lakers such as Magic Johnson, Kareem, Wilt Chamberlain, and even his old buddy Shaq has to be mentioned. Kobe has brought four championships to the Lakers and has won many awards. Kobe is only 31 years old and still has atleast a good 5-6 years left in him. In those years he could put himself as the greatest Laker and one of the greatest basketball players to ever play the game. Kobe has another chance to help the Lakers win another championship this year. They are just a good if not better then they were last year. Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest Lakers ever, but it's up to the fans to decided if he's the greatest Laker ever. That I will leave up Los Angeles.

On May 1st h he will take on Shane Mosley who is the current WBA Welterweight Super Champion. He will be defending that title when he faces Mayweather. All of us know Mayweather's credentials but Mosley is no slouch himself. His record is 46-5-1 with 39 knockouts. He has held numerous titles including:

IBF Lightweight Champion
August 2, 1997 – April 17, 1999
Vacated

WBC Welterweight Champion
June 17, 2000 – January 26, 2002

WBC Junior Middleweight Champion
WBA Junior Middleweight Super Champion
The Ring Junior Middleweight Champion
September 13, 2003 – March 13, 2004

WBC Welterweight Champion
Interim Title
February 10, 2007 – October 1, 2007

WBA Welterweight Super Champion
January 24, 2009–present

He has even defeated one of the all time greats in Oscar De La Hoya. Floyd probably think this fight will be easy but Mosley stated that he is still hungry and his hunger could overcome all the speed that Mayweather has. As for the Mayweather's original opponent Manny Pacquiao, he has a fight himself coming up on March 13th. He will be taking on Joshua Clottey in Cowboy Stadium for the WBO Welterweight title. I have heard that over 20,000 tickets have been sold for the event. Even though Manny and Floyd have new opponents I still believe no one will care about boxing until they fight each other once and for all. I really think it's ridiculous how everything went down. Maybe someday both men will get their act together and give the fans the fight they want to see. Only time will tell if that ever happens.

Here's how it looked at the end of the week.

Hollywood's World of Sports 7-3-0
Sandusky Hermes 3-7-0

The categories I won were G, A, +/-, SOG, W, GAA, and SV%. My players of the week were Zach Parise, Martin St. Louis, Andrew Brunette, and Miikka Kiprusoff. This now puts me at 93-75-12 which puts me 3rd in the division and 6th overall in the league. Still maintaining my spot and hopefully gaining on the leaders. Check back next week to see how I did.
