Gas Leak at Meerut - An Eye Opener for the installation of Gas Sensor

The incident occurred in Meerut on 8^th November, 2015. In Meerut’s Lisari Gate area, 20 children were affected by the leak. The fire department officials reached at the spot and handled the situation.

The gas leak occurred near the site which was meant for a cold storage plant. On investigation, the officials could not find out the reason for the gas leak so the officials caught hold of the garbage sellers to find information on the same.

Further investigation lead to believe that a garbage seller had burnt a can of chemical or some wires which triggered the leakage. On knowing this, the fire officials sprayed water over the area to take care of the situation temporarily.

When the residents were informed about the gas leak, they were worried initially about the effects that they would have to face due to the gas leak, but were relieved when the day passed without any issues. Though some people complained of feeling dizzy on the night the incident took place, their condition improved the next day.

Ajay Kumar Agarwal, station officer at Kotwali police station investigated the matter further and found the situation under control. So they informed the residents that there was nothing to worry but also told them to be alert and to report if they see something suspicious.

This gives us a reason to think about how safe we are in a society. The mistake may not be yours but you might be the one paying for it. This incident would have been detected at an early stage if a gas sensor would have been installed in that place. It is better to be safe than sorry. Installing a gas sensor would do no harm but instead would have alerted the officials muchbefore they found out.

Fire break out at Reserve Bank of India

Just recently the news of a fire break out in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) building was doing the rounds. The fourth floor of the building in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) witnessed a blaze around 8:30 AM.

According to sources, 10 fire engines were rushed to the spot and no immediate casualty was reported. The cause of fire was unknown.

These things take place often now-a-days majorly in offices. The buildings are towering high and the wiring is dense. In addition to that, some offices have huge server rooms. And this is a place that is most likely to catch fire immediately if there is a minor breakout.

How an IP camera helped in arresting a careless maid

My friend delivered a sweet little baby girl a couple of months back. She is a working woman and holds one of the top positions in her office. Her husband recently got an opportunity to go abroad for a project. They call it good luck of the newborn. As they were a nuclear family, neither one of them could stay back to take care of the kid. They did what most working parents do. They employed a governess to take care of the baby.

The governess seemed to be a good lady and showed fondness for children. My friend immediately fell for her humble behavior and relied on her for everything. Call it her presence of mind or sheer luck; she installed an IP Camera without the nanny’s knowledge.

After the maternity leave, it was time to resume office. The nanny came on time and my friend was quite impressed at her punctuality. But as they say, not every person is as good they seem to be. She explained the nanny everything, the place where the food was kept, the baby’s clothes, bottle, etc. The nanny told her to resume office without worries and that she would take care of the baby and everything there.

She went to office and started working as usual. After a long day’s work she came home and as she entered the baby started crying. After a tiresome day she didn’t bother much. She thanked the nanny, played with the baby and put her to sleep.

The next day she followed the same routine. After a few days, she noticed that the baby would always cry while she was home. This started bothering her now. She decided to speak to the nanny about it. When confronted, the nanny told that the baby is alone the whole day and craves for your love when back. Hearing this she thought that there is a possibility of this being a true fact.

I suggested her to put an IP camera just to check what thebaby does entire day. She decided to give it a try. Doing this would also assure her that the baby was fine. When she had a look at the IP Camera through the Smart App in her phone, she had the shock of her life! She could see her baby up and crying and the nanny sleeping carelessly. She couldn’t hold back her tears and immediately called her husband and narrated the incident. He checked it through his phone too and was shocked. Now she understood why the baby used to cry while she came back.

Her husband told her to calm down and act smartly. They recorded the videos and filed a police complaint against the lady. The police then took the necessary action. When questioned she told the police that she was taking good care of the baby and that the lady was unnecessarily accusing her of something that she has not done. To this, the couple showed her the video and proved that they were right and that she was lying.

This incident came to her notice only because of the IP Camera. The IP Camera saved the child’s life and made us understand the actual necessity of security products.

Automation Solutions replace Caregivers in Hospitals

I was nervous. My grandmother had a minor heart attack. I took her and rushed to the hospital. Things were a bit difficult for me as I was handling everything all alone. She is my only family. I was still when she fell down. The incident left me clueless. I rang up the ambulance immediately. They came in some time and took her to the hospital.

The next thing that bothered me was, who is there to take care of her when I would be running around to buy her medicines and stuff. She was then admitted to the hospital. While she lay on the hospital bed, I was sitting there worried about how to manage things.

After a while, someone came and gave me a remote like thing. I was already worried; this remote just left me wondering. I first though it was a remote control for the air conditioner. But a closer look and I found out that it had various buttons for panic, light, fan, call, etc. Then a nurse came and explained me its functionality. I was amazed. For a moment, I was relieved. I could not believe when I heard that a Remote Control could do so many things.

The nurse explained me that they had automated solutions for the entire hospital. Every room in the hospital was automated and to keep a check on the functioning of the same, they had a centralized system wherein they could check the status of each room in the hospital.

What I realized is that the Hospital Automation Solution had replaced our traditional caregivers. There would be caregivers to take care of her.

Ten minutes in the room and I contradicted myself. There was no necessity of a caregiver. The lights could be turned On/Off, curtains/blinds could be opened/closed, AC’s temperature could be adjusted, and all this and more could be done only at the touch of a button. She need not get up for anything. If she wanted a nurse to attend to her, she could just press the “call” button on the remote and immediate help would be provided. In case of an emergency, she was advised to press the “panic” button to which they would immediately respond. There was a Centralized Patient Call Monitoring system for the nursing staff which provided them with the information of the patients. They could get information such as, the time the call button was used, which patient needs attention, etc. The best thing about this system was that it could be accessed through a Smart App on a Smartphone or a Tablet which increases the responsiveness of the nursing staff even while on the go!

I thought that if I could get this technology at my place that would solve half of my problems. I can’t be with my grandma all the time, so I always used to be worried about her. I used to think, how will she manage things, why does she have to get up every now and then to operate the electrical devices? I am relieved now. I spoke to the doctor and told that I would like to have the same technology that they had in their hospital for my home. Motion Sensors: The Motion Sensor (EzSense) is based on Passive Infrared (PIR) sensing technology. Installing it, takes away the need to manually switch On/Off the lights. Whenever the sensor senses motion, it turns the lights On and turns if Off when no motion is sensed over a defined period. This helps in conservation of energy as unnecessary power usage is avoided. It is well suited for use in bathrooms, passageways, pantries and kitchens. It is also essential for the elderly as they tend to forget to switch Off the lights often while moving out from a particular area.

The Motion Sensor (EzSense) can have a single sensor controlling multiple devices or vice versa. Wireless options are also available for safety and security purpose. Here the unit called “node” goes behind the switch panel and communicates with the sensor wirelessly which is based on Passive Infrared (PIR) technology. It is best suited for passageways or parking lots. For example, if there is an intruder in these areas, the sensor will sense its presence and send a notification through the Smart App.

Cameras: The IP Camera (EzMonitor) helps in monitoring property or a particular area. The IP Camera (EzMonitor) can be placed anywhere and can connect wirelessly to any existing WiFi to view via Smart App. The user can also tilt or pan the camera or capture a short video. This clip is stored in the cloud for a short period and can be accessed via the App. The live video recording can be manually enabled or can be initiated by a sensor. For example, if there is a smoke or gas leak or intrusion detected, by the sensor the recording would be initiated and the user would be notified via the Smart App.

Safety and Security Sensors: There are various sensors for detection of smoke, gas, intrusion, etc. The sensors are meant for safety purposes, and notify whenever any of these are detected. It either raises an alarm or sends notifications to the concerned person via Smart App.

Intercoms: It is a wireless Video Door Phone used in multi-storied buildings and apartments. It is placed at the lobby of the building for all the visitors and can also be placed at the front door of each apartment. The resident can view and converse with the visitor via the Smart App which operates on a tablet or smartphone. This system is managed through a server.

When the visitor at the lobby presses the door bell, a notification pops up on the tablet or smartphone indicating the arrival. With the Smart App, the user has access to the video and audio and to the front door camera to validate the visitor before opening the door.

The user can also:

· View the visitor remotely (when not at home)

· Remotely unlock the door

· Store videos of front door visitors for checking
