The Blessing In Balance

It is truly a “God Thing” that we are back. That’s a term that I commonly use to describe when things happen in life and there is really no explanation why, and it feels right. I truly believe that when something lies on our heart or keeps popping up in our minds, there is a reason.

As the months have gone by from our last podcast and blog, I have kept missing HomeBizMomCast. I love that we were able to share with others, and I later found out that we were able to inspire others in their own daily lives and businesses. Because teaching others is one of the greatest ways to learn, I also believe that in sharing we experience personal growth.

There were so many weeks during a podcast or even in writing a blog that I would have personal moments of inspiration and discernment. What a blessing that was for me. Sharing HomeBizMomCast with Becky as a co-host and co-author, has been such an incredible extension of my personal life and my life work.

So the last few months, I’ve made mention to Becky, “I really miss HomeBizMomCast.” We would chat about it and as we had talked about balance in the past, we would agree that it did not fit in at that time. Then a few weeks ago, Chris Cash (Becky’s husband) returns from the SQPN podcasting conference, and shares that our HomeBizMomCast friends have been missing us. So Becky emails me that we are returning. I truly had tears of joy. What a blessing to return and continue to share even more with our dear HomeBizMomCast friends.

I personally am excited and know that there is total purpose in this coming together once again. As we add this back to our lives, we will see the blessings in maintaining our balance, and I believe the fruits of learning how to be even more balanced will come forward.

So I personally thank all of you for asking for us back! We really would love to hear more from you all in our comments! If there are topic ideas or challenges that you want us to share on, please write in! We’re back and feel very blessed to be back.

Freedom

As I sit here reflecting on this past weekend and our celebration of Independance Day, I am struck by a few thoughts. It is truly amazing to be in a country where we have so many freedoms. I am keenly aware that I am both lucky and Blessed to have been born in America and that, but by the Grace of God, I could have been born anywhere in this world. Do not get me wrong, my mother was born in England and my fathers’ family immigrated from Russia and Poland. I am also grateful for those family roots, but I know that I would not have the opportunities (or business) that I have today if I were not in America.

I am an Independent Distributor and Leader for the Shaklee company. Shaklee is in in many countries; however, the business model is quite different in many of those lands. For example. we recently launched in Beijing, China where people cannot even congregate to discuss business without government inclusion. In addition, Shaklee can sell products in Beijing, but distributors cannot help others build businesses. This is a threat to the Chinese Government.

To bring it closer to home, we are often asked why Shaklee is not in Europe. The answer is simple. In Europe, there is little benefit to having an entrepreneurial spirit. In some European countries, they actually pay people not to work. While that may seem great for awhile, I believe that people deserve the opportunity to be successful and to reap the rewards of their own efforts.

So, as you reflect on this past 4th of July, I challenge you to think out of the box and to ponder the freedoms that allow us to be “HomeBizMoms.”

Our lovely editor (Becky’s husband), just returned from the SQPN podcasters conference, in Texas, with one question… “Where did the “homebizmoms” go? The first time he told me that someone asked, I thought, “that’s nice.” The second time, I thought, “wow, they remember us.” But, the comments keep coming. “Tell Cheryl and Becky that we are waiting to hear back from them.” “Tell Cheryl and Becky we asked about them.” “Tell Cheryl and Becky to come to the conference next year so we can play more.” OKAY! We hear you. And we are so honored and humbled that you want to hear more from us…. What a Blessing!

As we discuss plans for our next podcast, stay tuned to our blog for little tidbits of wisdom, training and motivation. In the meantime, if you know anyone who is hurting in this recession and is looking for a home-based business opportunity, please let us know or send them to the website. We would be happy to talk with them and give them some helpful hints. We are so blessed, in this recession, to be part of the ever growing home-based business industry where we wake up every day empowered to make a difference.

Fulfilling Our Dreams

I really enjoyed our podcast on Home-Based Trends because of the fact that home-based business is a trend, probably a long-term one that will continue to grow. I had read the study in Working Mother Magazine that if working women could change one thing about their job, 40% would want to be paid and appreciated more, 31% would want to be more fulfilled at the end of the day, 21% would like to make better use of their skills and talents, and 8% would like to have closer friends at work.

I loved reading this study because of the fact that “playing” in my home-based business fulfills all of these areas for me. I think about how we are called to use our God given talents and do all things for the glory of God. I realize every day in someway through helping others either start their own home-based business or to nurture their own and their families health through natural nutritional supplementation, I am able to do this.

To go a step furture it is important to realize that it is about having a dream and fulfilling that dream. As Becky stated whether is is bringing home Mom, Dad or both from Corporate America, having that dream home, vacations, flexibility, and basically choices, it is our dream and we can fulfill that. Whether we work in the home or outside of the home we still need to provide for our families. I chose to “play” my purpose and my design my life as so many others.

30 Minutes to Creating Balance Every Day

As we talked about balance in our last podcast, we shared how important it is to fill ourselves whether or not we run a home-based business. As mothers, we are the caregivers which means we care. We care for our families, our homes, take care of the duties of the household such as running errands, shopping and everything that comes our way. I hear from so many moms that I talk with ” I have no time…” or “I’m to busy for…”. Many times that phrase ends by them explaining that they are not doing things for themselves. We do live very busy lives.

One thing that I have learned and am still working on is that we design our lives and schedules. While the designing of our lives is around our family’s schedules, we have to the opportunity to work with our schedules. I few great ways to create the balance within our schedules is to have days off, set aside family time, have hobbies, give yourself a bedtime, have reading time, or take time to exercise.

The important question to ask yourself and to answer honestly is, “What fills me?” or “What recharges me?” It is important to spend 30 minutes a day on you. Then you have 23 and 1/2 hours left to do the rest. Remember prayer and meditation time too. And what is cool about that is there is time for that all day even in small bits.

I have found a way to even combine a few of the things that I love to do that fill me. I have gone back to exercising 30 minutes a day, and my health club has Far Infrared Saunas which I go to for 30 minutes as well. After a bad car accident in February, my doctor had recommended it for deep tissue healing. It is not the tradition sauna with the hot lava rocks. This kind is a private wooden booth with a CD player and adjustable lighting. As I sat in my first session not knowing what to expect, I had brought a CD and a book because books and music also fill me. To my amazing delight, I found this time to be my quiet, contemplative, reflective time to fill me. Wow!

I actually started seeing the positive spill over effect in the other areas of my life. Once I was filled, I could give to others so abundantly. So decide how you want to fill yourself and commit to it. We are made in the image of God. How great to care for his image.
