If you don’t need a curtain, you can also change the bathmats and towels for something new, bright and fresh. If you have a window in your bathroom, adding new curtains is another way to bring in a chic variation. Changing the linens is an easy way to bring in bold pops of color without having to repaint the entire room.
Fixtures and Hardware: A way to bring your bathroom up to modern standards is change the fixtures and hardware throughout the room. Updating your sink faucet and putting new hardware on drawers and cupboards can change the look of your entire vanity in very little time. Bringing in a modern shower head not only will make your shower feel better but will also make it look better. Even something as small as changing the hooks that hold up the shower curtain to something more decorative can make a difference. Another fixture to think about is the lighting in the room. Bringing in stylish lighting can be a big change to the ambiance and style of the bathroom.
Paint: Painting your bathroom is a great way to give it the facelift you’re after. It is important to realize how small your bathroom really is in comparison to the rest of the rooms in your house, so the task of painting it is not really that taxing. Don’t be afraid to experiment with color as well. A bold paint color can be grounded with some neutral colored tiles and linens.

The Container Guest House is the first of a number of projects by Poteet Architects we’ll be featuring. As a national award-winning organization, Poteet Architects is better recognized for their delicate flexible reuse of pre-existing buildings along with a fresh, demanding method of modern interior design. This project descends from Poteet Architects’s client’s desire to experiment with shipping storage containers. She lives in a small warehouse on a former industrial site just south of downtown. The finished project serves as a guesthouse and it is fitted with a shower/WC along with a custom stainless sink. The large steel and glass lift/slide and end window wall open the interior towards the surrounding landscape. The rest of the interior is used as being a garden shed.
