I agree glass chair mats are much more durable.  The Lorell is a great value.  The more expensive mats like the Vitrazza have an additional scratch-resistant coating.  They also have a slightly better warranty (transferable lifetime) and offer an option for an ultra-clear glass (Luminoso) which is nice if you are going for a certain look.
