Story:The story highlights the concept of living conditions of a very poor family in Pakistan and the hardships and difficulties they have to face daily to earntheir living. Things are never easy for Khushi commonly known as Pagli and her entire family with their Akbar Ali (Father) selling newspapers but hardly earning anything, Zuleikha (her mother) working as a maid in a rich house but always getting insulted by the owner, while she and Bano (her sister) wash car mirrors on the roads. Ummo (her brother) works in a workshop. They are in such a miserable condition that they have nothing to eat most of the times. The parents are worried about Khushi’s marriage but have to hold back because they cannot afford dowry. The story takes an amazing turn and finally a proposal comes for Khushi but it’s not just a marriage proposal; it’s a one year contract with selfish intentions behind it. The most shocking thing for Khushi would be when she actually gets to know later about Zuleikha’s reality. It will show you how the elite rich class manipulates the poor class for their own motives and then discard them off once they are no longer needed. You will also get to see that money is such a powerful force which can force parents to take certain steps which are unethical. See how things turn out to be as this amazing story develops depicting the reality of our and other third world countries.

Fate sees this young girl marrying one of her own cousins despite opposition from the whole family. In a desperate bid to get rid of her, the heroine is falsely accused of infidelity by her mother-in-law, who falsely swears on the Quran, forcing her son to divorce his new wife. This has long term consequences on the whole family, who later repent the lies they were all a part of and desperately try to make amends…although perhaps now it is too late. A moving and thought provoking family drama.

It is about a girl named Sara who is in search of a man, Arfeen, who her mother, Saba, used to talk about. Before she died, Saba told her daughter that she wanted her to go to Arfeen's house when she died. Sara obeyed her mother, curious herself to find out more about this man, who happened to be Saba's cousin. When, after her mother's death, Sara goes to her uncle's house, he is devastated that Saba has died. Arfeen has a son named Haider who is about the same age as Sara. Over time, Sara realizes how deep the relationship was between her mother and Arfeen. She also starts talking to Haider. The show goes into the past to show Saba's life when she was about as young as her daughter and going to college. Arfeen is her dad's older brother's son, and he goes abroad to study and work. When he comes to Pakistan for a visit, he meets Saba and they become friends quickly. Slowly, Arfeen realizes how much he likes Saba, which soon turns into love. He asks his parents permission to marry her, but they are don't want him to marry her. They think she is too educated and will mot be good for their only son. Arfeen has two sisters, one older and one younger, who both agree with their parents. But still, Arfeen convinces his parents and they decide to have Saba and Arfeen's nikkah first and Arfeen will go back to America and come back later for their rukhsati. Back in the present time, Sara finds letters from Saba and Arfeen to each other while Arfeen was in America. She saw how much love was in each letter, but wondered what had happened between them because she knew Arfeen wasn't her father. She started to think that her mother had left Arfeen to marry someone else and began to feel guilty and sorry for Arfeen. But, when she mentioned this to Arfeen, he said that Saba hadn't done anything wrong, but he didn't tell her why he thought that. Sara's aunt kept calling Arfeen to tell him she wanted to talk to Sara and bring her to her house where she lived, outside of Pakistan. Arfeen refused to let her talk to her niece, but we don't find out the reason to that until later on. When it has been quite a while since Sara has been living with Arfeen and Haider, Arfeen asks his son to ask Sara to marry him. He agrees and when he asks her, Sara says yes. Not able any further to not talk to her only niece, Saba's younger sister decides to come to Pakistan to meet Sara. She comes to find that her niece is engaged and insists to do her wedding the way she thought would be best for her niece. But, on the day of her wedding, Sara disappears from her house without telling anyone where she went. This is when the truth comes out about what happened between Arfeen and Saba. Saba and arfeen are first cousions than arfeen loved Saba with heart and soul but his mother envied Saba that Arfeen gives more attention to Saba than to her. She planned to destroy Saba and Arfeen Nikkah.

There are very few actors who have that charisma which can inspire the young and old alike. Abid Ali belongs to this rare breed of actors because of his incredible performances and mesmerising personality. Abid reigned over the silver screen during the ’70s and ’80s and has scores of hit serials to his credit. Abid Ali (March 17, 1952) is a Pakistani television actor who has acted in numerous television productions. Abid reigned over the silver screen during the ’70s and ’80s and has scores of hit serials to his credit. But, he has not yet resigned from the shiny world of glamour and fame and is still going strong.

He was married to Humaira Ali but they are now separated. He had three daughters with Humaira: Iman Ali, Maryam Ali and Raimah Ali. Iman Ali, who is an actress and model, confesses to having a distant relationship with her father. [2] He married Rabia Naureen in 2006.

In a candid interview with Tview, he came out not only as a superb actor but also as a sensitive person with a thoughtful mind. Talking to Abid Ali was more than a pleasure. Looking as dashing as ever, he spoke in a humble manner and made us feel that we were never strangers.

He says about himself: Since my school days I was inclined towards writing, and then I started painting. Acting wasn’t on my mind. I just knew that I wanted to do something creative. Between 1968 and 1969 when I was in college, Ata Shad from Radio Pakistan spotted me and told me that I had a good voice. I went for an audition which I passed and in this way I started to work for radio while I was also studying in college. Then in ‘73, I came to Lahore and tried my luck at PTV, and after going through many auditions, I eventually got myself entered into the electronic world or as you say silver screen.

When we started, there wasn’t much money in this field, but in spite of that, people were committed and professional. Now times have changed. There is much more money involved – thanks to private channels and productions; nowadays actors want to become rich and famous overnight, they are more interested in minting money than to concentrate on their work, they accept every offer that comes their way. Another major difference which I’ve noticed is that in the past, actors were prone towards reading and learning so that they could emerge as good actors. Whereas today despite having access to books, computers and above all internet, our performers seems little interested in learning or reading. Sadly, in our country, there is no institution which can edify young actors. These days everything is going on. Nobody is noticing what is good and what is bad. I also feel that journalism is also responsible in shaping actors. These days even journalists also do not play their part effectively. They only report, they don’t analyse.

Work should be judged. Safdar Mir, one of the good critics, used to write so well. But now that era has also gone. We are hardly left with any good drama critics. I personally believe that we need to give training in every sphere – be it script writing or acting abilities. Not only that we also need improvement in technology – visual/audio/sound quality, recording equipment, transmition quality etc. Getting old is a reality so it’s better if you face it with dignity.

For me it’s a part of life and the best part about aging is that you learn a lot – if you want to. Look at today’s high-tech life; things are growing fast; improvement can be seen in every sphere of life — drama has improved with the coming of computer effects. So, if one has the desire to learn, one can always benefit oneself from latest technologies, no matter what his age may be.

As an actor, you find yourself working sixteen – may be eighteen hours a day, and doing nothing you would put your name to. In a twelve hour day, you kill ten hours just waiting, in a particular state of half-alertness, waiting to go on. It’s not satisfactory. Its’ a slog. I love acting – and I hate it. I despise it because I despise falsehood. You feel fraudulent, all the time, every day!

Nadia Khan was born in Pathan family of niazi tribe in Quetta, Pakistan on 22 May 1972 to Aslam Khan and Tahira Khan.She said that she loves Pakistan more than anything. Her father is a retired Army Colonel while her mother is a housewife. She has one brother, and three sisters. She made her television debut through NTM in 1996. Her first cousin, also her sister in-law was working with NTM, which was at that time introducing a lot of young upcoming talents as hosts and announcers. Khan instantly became a household name in Pakistan due to her spontaneous and witty personality..She loved having her familys name in all of pakistan but she was also pretty mad because of the country that she was famous in.[citation needed] She then hosted a show called "Daak Time (Mail Time) with Uncle Sargam which was popular among children PTV.

She rose to fame for her spontaneous yet charming personality. She left the world of entertainment in the year 2000 when she got married at the age of 28, but made a comeback to acting in the year 2005 with an Eid Special Show in which she acted opposite Ijaz Aslam and Sadia Imam. She also appeared in a ARY Digital soap called Koi To Ho in 2003. She later left the show to work as a host on ARY, then left it to work on Geo TV.

Career

Nadia khan returned as an anchor on ARY Digital's morning show Breakfast with Nadia. The show went on air from Dubai in the year 2003. After leaving ARY Digital for unknown reasons in 2006, she moved to a better entertainment channel Geo TV which had higher viewer ship rate; actress Marina Khan took Nadia's place at ARY Digital starting her own successful morning show which ended in 2008 after a short run. Nadia then hosted Geo TV's morning show called Nadia Khan Show. Her show featured interviews with Pakistani celebrities, artists, performers, religious leaders, athletes and politicians. There were also segments on Islam, health and beauty, among others. Her show was the highest-rated morning show in Pakistan.she is also a very good house wife as well. Presently, she has resigned from geo tv, asking for a break from morning shows, as they were turning monotonous and plans to bring a new show to the country where 'east shall meet the west'

Amna Haq is a Pakistani supermodel and actress more famous as a Lux model and for her role in the television drama Mehndi.In mid-2008, the actress-model finally became engaged to Ammar; the two had been good friends for quite a while by then.
Most recently she has been studying Medicine at King's College London, England.

Over the years, Haq has acted in a number of Urdu dramas. Her serials such as Chaandni Raatain and Ghulam Gardish have been well received.Haq's magnum opus in drama is considered to be Mehndi: The Color of Emotions, a star-studded drama which instantaneously shot her to new heights of fame. Adnan Siddiqui has become television leading man without conveying the impression that he takes this mantle seriously. But whether he likes to admit it or not, he has had a huge impact on local television.With a Hollywood movie under his belt, Adnan is one of the most bankable actors of the television industry, today.

His journey started with his first play Aroosa opposite Mishi Khan, which became hugely popular, resulting in him getting many offers, including roles in movies. Among them was a Sajjad Gul banner, â€™Siyasat, Rishwat aur Mehangaiâ, a very ambitious project, with the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahib giving music for a film for the first time in his career, and Madam Noor Jehan and Mohammed Ali Sahib making a comeback into films. It was to be directed by Nazar-ul-Islam and the screenplay was to be written by Asghar Nadeem Syed, who was riding high on the popularity of Chand Grehana

As an actor just starting out, it was an excellent opportunity to launch himself in a big way, but Adnan had reservations about the project from the very beginning.

At the time, Adnan was working at Lintas Advertising and was confused as to what he wanted to do with his life: whether acting was his true calling or the world of advertising. He also had issues with changing his name, as he was asked to go by the name of Shehryar, the name of the character he played in Aroosaâ. After giving the opening shot, Adnan ran away from the set, earning the nickname Bhagora in Lollywood. Even now whenever he visits the Lahore film industry, everyone says, Yeh bhagora aa gya. The film was then canned and later produced under another name and with another director and writer.

Atiqa Odho is a famous Pakistani television and film actress who has acted in numerous film and television productions. She debuted in Anwar Maqsood's Sitara aur Mehrunissa while later chose to move to the film world starring in a string of hits which included Jo Darr Gya Woh Marr Gya, Mummy and Mujhe Chand Chahiye.

Atiqa Odho was born in Karachi, Pakistan on the 12th February 1968. She is married, and has three children. She started her professional life as a trained make-up artist and hairstylist in 1989. While working as a make-up artist for various advertising agencies in Karachi she was discovered by the very renowned and senior television personality, Anwar Maqsood. She starred in his play, Sitara Aur Mehrunissa in 1993 that turned her into a household name in Pakistan overnight.

Atiqa Odho has since worked in many popular television and film projects and has been actively involved in both media and the fashion industry in Pakistan and abroad.She belongs to Jacobabad, Sindh. Currently she is engaged in philanthropic activities.

She has been working for Shaukat Khanam Cancer Memorial Hospital, Fatmeed Foundation and nowadays working as a social worker in "Hamara Mulk, Hamaray Log".

Saima is a Pakistani actress from Multan. She was born on May 5,1967. Saima joined Lollywood at a time when Anjuman absolutely dominated the scene. Anjuman was so busy that some producers were becoming frustrated due Anjuman's dates and were already looking for replacement. The alternative came in the shape of Saima who took full advantage of the opportunity.Saima is very famous in middle standard peoples of Pakistan. Because only middle standard people watch the punjabi movies.Saima rocked the movies back then.Saima's debut was directed by Akram Khan. She was cast on the spot for the main lead in Khatarnaak, in 1990. Saima has steadily ascended the ladder of success. Saima was discovered at the time when Sultan Rahi was the number one hero. The record breaking success of Syed Noor’s blockbuster Choorian made her a house hold name over night.

Saima has been around for quite a few years…in fact she was discovered when Sultan Rahi was still going strong. Yet it's has been the last couple of years that have seen her burst into prominence and assume the mantle of being the country's top most actress. The turning point has been the record-breaking success of Syed Noor's directed Choorian - a film that breathed life into an industry considered fatally diseased.

Saima was discovered ages ago by sleaze merchant director Akram Khan who saw her in some gathering or the other and was immediately struck by her statuesque beauty. He approached her on the spot and stunned her by asking her to star in his upcoming production Khatarnaak. Saima, in a state of shock at being asked, responded in the affirmative and within days she was in front of the camera. Akram Khan felt he had discovered something special and felt that Saima was akin to a raw diamond that only needed a little care and some polish before it could be displayed to dazzle the world. With just a little effort, Khan contended, this girl could be a world beater and sure enough he was to be proved right as with time Saima has steadily ascended the ladder of success and at this point in time reigns as the current Queen of Lollywood, commanding a higher price than any of her competitors and enjoying some serious adulation among the masses.

However one thing about Saima that has remained unchanged is her silent demeanor. She always was and still remains very much the silent one, hardly ever uttering a work and answering questions with the shortest possible answer. She just isn't into conversing and usually inhabits her own world where no outsider is allowed to enter. She keeps herself at a distance and is clearly very reserved. However, when that camera switches on and the cry of action rings out, its another matter altogether.

Saima's career started with a resounding Box Office flop in Akram Khan's Khatarnaak and the buzz around the industry was that the girl had no future. However after all these years she stands at the very summit of her profession though detractors will always contend that her success is largely due to her association with Syed Noor. Insiders in the industry have said that when Saima started working with Noor it became quite evident that they were getting on very well and were becoming more and more intimate with one another until Syed Noor actually married Saima despite already being married and living with Rukhsana Noor.

Saima started out in Lollywood at a time when Anjuman absolutely dominated the scene. Anjuman had become so busy that some producers started becoming increasingly frustrated at their progress being slowed due to the fact that the lady couldn't supply dates. They decided to search for an alternative and this is where Saima started making her initial inroads. It was thought that Saima had the necessary height and curves to suit Sultan Rahi, who was in effect the ONLY viable hero in movies at that time. Another reason for looking for a sub for Anjuman was that apparently Sultan Rahi could shoot for 20 hours a day (says a lot for the "quality" of his work) while Anjuman could only manage 8 hours. So in the thriving late 80's, producers needed another siren to accompany the great Rahi. Saima's curves would hold her in good stead as she was drafted in as second fiddle to Anjuman - the actress who picked up on all the roles that Anjuman couldn't take on due to her crowded schedule. Saima had also gone into some heavy training and emerged with mighty efficient "thumkas" and all the right moves as far as Lollywood dancing was concerned.

Saima had hardly been in the industry for a week when her fortunes took another drastic turn. Anjuman got married to Mobeen Malik and quit signing any new films. Then the thunderbolt that stunned the industry - the murder of Sultan Rahi. Lollywood went into mourning and Punjabi film production ground to a complete halt. The industry was saved from complete destruction due to the Urdu films that still remained in production. However even Urdu films were in a rut as renowned director Sangeeta was at home tending to her spawn. Javaid Faisal was pursued by producers but nothing came of it and meanwhile Nazrul Islam expired dealing another massive blow to an industry already reeling. Thus the path was cleared for an ambitious Syed Noor to step up and try to fill the directorial vacuum. Then came Choorian, ironically a Punjabi film, and the rest is history. Choorian is still running in regular shows in Lahore at the time of writing two years after its release - a quite amazing fact.

Saima was suddenly considered an essential commodity of any film and jacked up her price (on Syed Noor's advice) from Rs. 3 lacs to Rs. 5 lacs, way above those of her competitors. Then a similar cycle started with producers becoming frustrated at not being able to secure dates from the super busy Saima and they began to search for an alternative just as they had done when Anjuman was in her prime. Amitabh Bachchan needs no introduction in India or even abroad. The man seems to hold in him a charisma that remains unrivalled. An entrepreneur, politician, game show host, a singer, voiceover artist, and an actor - the roles he played are immortalized and idolized. A huge fan base that reveres him as though he is a demi-god and a multitude of awards and recognition gravitates to him endlessly, year after year after year. But his ride to stardom was anything but smooth.

The Big Bang!
Born under the Libran sun sign, Amitabh Bachchan celebrates his birthday on 11 October. He was born in 1942 in Allahabad, as Amitabh Harivansh Srivastav to Dr.Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. His father was a well known poet. Bachchan was his pen name. When Amitabh entered the film industry he replaced Srivastav with Bachchan. He was initially christened Inquilab but this was later changed to Amitabh that means ‘limitless lustre’, which is so apt. Ajitabh is his younger brother.

Bachchan studied in Allahabad at Jnana Pramodhini and Boys High School. He also put in a few years at Sherwood College in Nainital and Kirori Mal College. He holds a double degree in M.A.

He worked as a freight broker with Bird & Co, a shipping firm based in Kolkata which he quit to pursue acting, which paid off.

He married his co-star Jaya Bhaduri of the Guddi fame on 3 June 1973 and they have two children, Shweta and Abhishek. The latter is also an actor, married to Aishwarya Rai.

Making it Big. And how!
Bachchan’s unconventional looks – dark, lean, and standing tall at 6’2” - worked against him when it came to acting roles. But his deep voice, a trademark, held him in good stead with offers to work on narration and background commentary.

1969 to 1979
In 1969, Bachchan made his debut with Saat Hindustani, which won him the National Film Award for Best Newcomer. After this came movies like Reshma Aur Shera, Parwana, and Anand in 1971. He made a huge impact with his performance in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anand alongside Rajesh Khanna as a despondent doctor, winning the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. In 1972, he appeared in movies like Sanjog, Bansi Birju, Ek Nazar, and also narrated Bawarchi.

His identity as the ‘angry young man’ took off in 1973 when he starred in movies like Zanjeer, Abhimaan, and Namak Haraam. Vijay went on to become a regular onscreen name. In Zanjeer, he played an honest cop implicated by false charges and thirsting for revenge. In Abhimaan, he was a struggling singer while his wife, played by Jaya Bhaduri, makes it big firing up his insecurities. He came together with Rajesh Khanna again in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Namak Haraam, which won him the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.

In 1974 he made brief appearances in Kunwara Baap and Dost. Roti Kapda Aur Makhaan raked in a lot of moolah. He played the lead in Majboor, a dying man who gets a new lease of life and a prison sentence to get out of. In 1975, his movies like the comedy Chupke Chupke with Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore and Jaya Bacchan, and the romantic drama Mili with Jaya and Ashok Kumar did well. However it was Deewar and Sholay that made a lasting impact on Bollywood. His performance in Deewar was intense while Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay was not only a big earner but is one of BBC’s Top 25 Must See Bollywood Movies.

In the 1976 film Kabhie Kabhie, he plays the role of a lovelorn poet Amit. Amar Akbar Anthony, released in 1977, showed Bachchan as the endearing Anthony Gonsalves, winning him his first Filmfare Best Actor Award. A string of hits marked 1978 with the release of Kasme Vaade, Trishul, Don, and Muqaddar Ka Sikander. It was Don that won him the Filmfare Best Actor Award out of the three movies for which he was nominated. In 1979, he starred in Mr.Natwarlal and also tried his hand for the first time in playback singing in this movie with the song Mere Paas Aao.

1980 to 1990
The early eighties saw the release of Dostana, Shaan, Laawaris (popular for the song Mere Angene Mein, Tumhara Kya Kaam Hai that AB sang), Silsila with Jaya Bhaduri and his rumoured lover Rekha. He played a double role in Satte Pe Satta and Namak Halaal. These movies enjoyed large scale popularity as did Bachchan. This was evident when he met with a fatal injury during the making of his 1982 movie, Coolie. Practically the entire nation prayed for his recovery which came after a year when he completed the movie and it was released with a change in script so that his character Iqbal, who was supposed to die, survives. In 1984, his role as Vicky Kapoor, an alcoholic in Sharaabi was also well-received.

Bollywood started taking a backseat post 1984 due to his illness. This made him look towards politics. It was well known that Bachchan enjoyed a close association with the Gandhi family having grown up with Rajiv Gandhi. He won the Allahabad’s Lok Sabha seat with a high margin of 68%. His stint in politics was marred when he was accused in the Bofors scandal and was later proved innocent. He later deflected to friend Amar Singh’s Samajwadi Party.
He ventured back into Bollywood with Shahenshah in 1988 and Toofan in 1989. Agneepath, released in 1990, won him a National Film Award for Best Actor.

1991 to 1999
Hum in 1991 did well. His much hyped last movie before retirement was Khuda Gawah with Sridevi, in 1992. Bachchan went on to start Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd that was to produce and distribute movies and music. Tere Mere Sapne, which was its first production, was an average performer while its later productions all failed dismally like Mrityudaatha which starred Bachchan. The company collapsed and Bachchan reverted back to acting but without much success in movies like Major Saab, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Sooryavansham. ABCL also released his album Aby Baby that was popular for the number ‘Eer Bir Phatte’.

2000-2008
The year 2000 salvaged his situation and he went on to reclaim his superstar status. In Mohabattein, he starred with King Khan, as the dogmatic Narayan Shankar and won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.

He also hosted Kaun Banega Crorepathi, the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, that is known to be one of the most popular television shows in Indian television history. This was at a time when most movie stars saw television as a step back in their career but Bachchan changed that perception.

In 2001, he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance for Aks and was nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Actor for his role as Yashchand Raichand in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Kaante (2002) was the remake of Reservoir Dogs. This was followed by Boom, Baghban, Khakee, Aetbaar, Rudraksh, and Lakshya.

And if anyone thought he was riding on his early success, he removed all doubts of that with his widely acclaimed portrayal of Debraj Sahai in Black (2005) that received international recognition and plenty of awards. The role won him the National Award for Best Actor, Filmfare Best Actor Award, and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance. The same year in the comedy Bunty Aur Babli, he starred with his son Abhishek for the first time and followed it up with Sarkar as Subash Nagre, a ‘godfather’ of sorts.

In 2006, he played Sexy Sam, in another Karan Johar’s mega-starrer, Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna. Ram Gopal Verma’s Nishabdh that was out in 2007 saw him enamoured with his daughter’s friend Jia. Cheeni Kum had him romancing a much younger woman played by Tabu. The Last Lear in which he brought to life the veteran theater actor Harish Mishra was appreciated.

His fans saw him in different avatars in 2008, with Bhoothnath where he was a ghost; the sequel Sarkar Raj, that starred his son Abhishek and bahu Aishwarya Rai; God Tussi Great Ho where he was God himself.

2009
He had a fleeting appearance in Delhi 6 in the first part of 2009. He played Genius the Genie in Aladin. The movie was an average success. He proved why he was a superstar yet again with his performance in Paa. He was seen as Auro, a thirteen year old child afflicted by Progeria which causes him to age rapidly. His son, Abhishek, played his father in this movie.

Combining sports and politics is not an easy thing to do. But then it's not that difficult either, considering the two are inextricably intertwined specially in the Asian subcontinent. Debutant director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan dares to visit the forbidden territory.
Lahore" is about sports and politics and characters from both the spheres getting embroiled in a terrible fight to the finish.
The script accommodates a great deal of the sporting spirit as seen in the perspective of Indo-Pak politics. Within that ambitious framework, Chauhan weaves in the human relationships that make a leap for warmth and then stay stuck in semi-sterility. The film has too much to say on sports, politics and human nature. It isn't able to say all of it in a lucid language.
Chauhan has chosen a unique sport like kickboxing to spotlight the process of cultural assimilation that underscores all the perverse politicking that goes on at the surface level between the two countries.
The Indian and Pakistani coaches played by Farooque Shaikh and Sabyasachi Chakavarty are seen to be sportingly at loggerheads, but "Lahore" takes the spirit of sportsmanship across the border with more seriousness of purpose.
In the boxing ring, the game gets deadly when the Indian kickboxing champion Sushant Singh is delivered a deadly blow by his Pakistani opponent. A churning point in the narrative is arrived at in restrained rhythms.
This is where Chauhan's narrative comes into its own. The dilemma of the deceased kickboxer's younger brother Veeru (newcomer Aanaahad) to preserve his sporting spirit in the midst of high-voltage mutually-destructive Indo-Pak politics is built into the plot with architectural astuteness.
Not all of the material outside the central conflict, where Veeru forsakes cricket to pursue his slain brother's dream in the kickboxing arena, works on the scripting level.
Does Veeru only want to use the boxing ring to avenge his brother's death?
Though the characters falter in quantitative excess, the opposition of sports and politics and politics in sports is put into a persuasive perspective. The rest of drama tends to get tedious mainly because there are too many characters swarming the Indo-Pak map.
Veeru's romantic attachment to the Pakistani girl (newcomer Shraddha Das) is skirted across in a few scenes where they exchange veiled pleasantries. Passion is seriously forfeited in the flurry of squeezing in a large canvas of characters.
It's in the kickboxing scenes that the film exudes blood, sweat and tears. Aanahaad and his opponent Mukesh Rishi reveal a skill in the ring that cannot leave the audience unaffected.
Aanahaad does well in the sports scenes, but needs to brush up his skills in the emotional moments Of the rest of the cast Nafisa Ali, Ashish Vidyarthi, the late Nirmal Pandey and several other talented actors are wasted in sketchy roles. The film's surface is over-populated. But its inner life suggests a sincerity of purpose.
Wayne Sharpe's background score and Neelabh Kaul's cinematography are first rate. They add to the feeling of a film that goes beyond sports, but stops short of making a statement on life lived on the border of hostility.

An upset David goes to confront Chaturvedi, is intercepted by Police Inspector Roop Kumar Sahay (Dalip Tahil) and Dr. Verma (Bharat Kapoor), the evidence is destroyed, and he is sentenced to 20 years in prison for Mary's murder. He asks his friend Mahesh to look after James in his long absence. Twenty years later, David is released, he goes to visit Mahesh and is shocked to find that Mahesh has changed, he is no longer a boot-legger, he now lives a wealthy life-style, he wants David to forget the past, and live with his CID Inspector son James, who he has re-named Vijay (also Amitabh Bachchan). David is devastated with this news, but is determined to avenge his wrongful conviction and Mary's death, so he sets about to kill his tormentors one by one - the only obstruction he faces is none other than Vijay who unaware of David being his father is out to protect the 3 people.
The Climax of the Hindi version is different from that of the Tamil. It is said that director K.Bhagyaraj altered the climax script in the last minute to suite the Hindi auidience.
