This Sunday we will be gearing up to head back to school with a message entitled, “HARD KNOCKS 101: Passing the Stress Test”. I will be sharing with you about some key things we can do to live a stress-free life!  (Note: Getting rid of stress does not include punching your boss or kicking the dog.)

And this being Labor Day weekend and all, we will also have a really funny video for all of you who work very hard but don’t feel appreciated! So come laugh your stress off!

Hey, are any of you worried about anything? Well I am! That’s why this week I am doing a message entitled, “A Refresher Course on Worry”. I can’t think of a more relevant topic for me personally right now, and I hope you can relate to it too. Shoot, I am even worried sick wondering if anyone will even show up!

Anyway, come to think of it, our worship leader Pete should be worried too! I know it’s hard to believe, but Pete was not always the musical sensation that he is now. A long time ago in a land far, far away Pete was a little tike who was just getting his feet wet musically, and I gotta tell ya that he will be quite embarrassed at the video footage we have of him singing in the choir as a little fella (wink, wink)!

Dear HomeFronters:

Alas, Sunday is almost here and so is another great day at HomeFront! This week I will be showing a challenging video clip from the TV show called “What would you do?”, you know, that hidden camera show from ABC. It will certainly make you think.

Oh, and I will also be showing the cutest video ever of a little toddler boy that is sure to make you chuckle. (I chuckle a lot, that’s why I am such a chucklehead! Please note that I said chucklehead, not knucklehead!) Anyway, we will also have an “open swim” here at HomeFront! (Not really, but we will have baptism!)

So come on out and have a great cup of coffee while we worship the Lord together!

I want to encourage you all to be in your place this Sunday! I will be bringing a message entitled, “Keeping Our Eyes on the Prize”. It will feature a visit from some cartoon friends of mine, and one of my favorite movie clips of all time. In fact, every time I see this particular clip it makes me want to charge hell with a squirt gun! I think it will inspire you as well.

Also, you will want to be here to hear about the HomeFront Homecoming 2010 that is coming up in the fall. And added to all this, I have a very important announcement to share with our church family that I think you will all really like. (And no, I am not leaving the church! You will never get rid of me! So there!)

I want to thank you for your good response to my message last week on
“Islam for Dummies”. This week the title of the message is a
rather strange one, it’s called “Practical Atheist”. Speaking
for me will be Craig Groeshel, coming all the way from Tulsa,
Oklahoma (not really, we are “beaming” him in via video on a large
middle screen on the stage). Craig is a catalyst in bringing
multi-media to churches all around the country, and is a popular
speaker. It is an interesting message that you won’t want to miss.

Added to this, I will be showing a fun video that Dads will really
relate to and kids will love. Dad, if you live to embarrass your kids
like I do, you will want to be here! And of course we will have some
more “kickin” music by Pete and the band!

I want to take a moment to encourage you all to be in your place this Sunday! This week I will be bringing a message entitled, “Islam for Dummies”. I will be sharing some interesting things about Islam and tackle some tough questions as well. I guarantee that when you leave you won’t be a “dummy” anymore (at least not about Islam). So be sure to make the “pilgrimage” to HomeFront this week for what will turn out to be a “mecca” of learning about Islam!  

In addition to this, during the greeting time I will be showing a funny blooper video about baptism.  It will definitely make a splash! Speaking of which, I want to remind you to sign up this Sunday if you are interested in taking a baptism class.  No commitment is necessary, and I will contact you soon.

Also, don’t forget THIS week is the Sunday Night at the Movies at HomeFront!

This week in church you will get a special treat. My friend Tom Blaylock will be filling in for me. He will be showing a video from the movie Forrest Gump and the title of the message is “Stupid Is as Stupid Does” (not really). He is, however, giving away free Bubba Gump shrimp (no, not really). But he will be bringing a very interesting message as he always does (that’s not true either, but don’t tell him I said that).

Pete and the band will be singing, and we will have another fun video too. It will make you want to coo like a whale! (Parents please note: The Promiseland kids will be dismissed at the end of the greeting time for the rest of the summer, as requested by the Promiseland leaders.)

By the way, I want to thank all of you who were in the service last week for making my extended family from out of town feel so welcomed. They loved our church (and they now know that I am not the loser that they always thought I was)!
