This was the very first option suggested by a real estate agent, and it caught the family’s fancy so much that they didn’t even waste time on looking through other variants. Moreover, they bought a lodging for Olga’s sister in the same place too.

The interior design was worked out by Olga under the guidance of her mother, who obtained an interior design class. As for the technical and architectural aspects, here helped the uncle, a manager of a construction firm. Since all the flats of a newly-built housing estate have an open plan, at the moment of purchase the apartment was just an empty perimeter with a couple of load-bearing pillars.

This space was primarily allotted to a guest’s room, but the lack of room for a walk-in closet inspired an idea to unite this area with the balcony and arrange a bedroom.

After living in rented dwellings for many years, Caius and his wife finally moved in a newly-built apartment of their own in September of 2011. The renovation was done just in 6 weeks, but it was preceded with a 6-month projecting. The interior design was created by the hosts under the supervision of a professional architect Asel Urazgalieva from “Nerpa” agency.

Due to tightness of the space the main desire was to organize it in a most functional way. A lounge, a kitchen and a bedroom actually share the common space, but the bed was separated from the public zone with a movable partition. There is also a kid’s room foreseen in the flat, but it’s still on the waiting decoration list. The interior comprises IKEA furniture, small stuff by modern Finnish designers and ethnic details brought from travels.
