In the meantime, I wanted to say that I have changed my mind on some of the ingredients I have been using. At this point I really don't think that the allantoin is necessary for the long term nor the vitamin B6, therefore I have removed those from the mix and it is now just PS and DMSO. I have also created a basic dosing schedule. See the pages on the right.

As far as progress is concerned, it is difficult to judge. I feel like my hair is thicker and that I have improvement but I was hoping for a faster response. I have decided to maintain my current regiment for another year.

It took my almost 8 years to get to where I was when I started this, so I guess it is foolish for me to believe that it would only take a year to regrow my hair completely. I do believe that this definitely extends the lifespan of each follicle as my eyebrows simply refuse to shed and I am continually needing to groom them.

Here are the latest round of pictures, don't know if it is better, the same or worse after taking a week off. Also, I dropped dosage to once every other day. My theory is that the PS builds up on the inner leaflet of the cellular membranes. And is slowly depleted by the glucocorticoids responding to the DHT inflammation. Anyways, when I get some time I am going to reorganize the site.

Also, FYI to anyone trying this treatment. It is unlikely that you need to continue daily application past 2 months. Doing this may cause problems. In all likely hood the PS will have been built up to significant amount in that time. After that it will likely just take patience; rome wasn't built in a day.

I think that is it for now.
I had to clean my horses stall after dinner tonight. During which I started to go into what seemed similar, from memory, metabolic shock. Which was odd to me at the time because I had eaten about a half hour before, so that shouldn't have happened. I am worried now that the prolonged use of the CRF blocker, PS, is burning out my endocrine system.

This is a bummer for me because I feel as if I have come so far along this journey; my goals seem fingertips away.

Anyways, I am stopping treatment for 7 days for rest. Also, I am removing all other ingredients from my mix except for DMSO and PS, to rule out other factors. After my rest I will resume at quarter dosage.

I am posting pictures of where I am at currently and will update again at the end of the month to compare any hair loss that occurs do to the break. Another note, the PS ends up being stored within our cells so I may very well need to take a longer break. At the same time though, because it builds up it may continue to protect against the DHT inflammation within the hair cells.

Anyways here are the pics.

Only 3 things stuck out.

1. My hemoglobin count was high but I attribute this to me being a smoker of 17 years. I guess it really is time to quit that.

2. My lymphocyte count was in the high range but not abnormal. This is most likely due to the PS up-regulating the immune system. This leads to other explanations as I have not gotten sick since starting this while everyone around me has gotten the flu.

3. My calcium levels were high but not abnormal. This one is likely due to the allantoin as it increases the rate of cellular remodeling, including bone.

I am on chantix now to quit smoking; wish me luck. This was a response I wrote to a thread on ************.com.

This is the reason why cortisol levels and hair shedding/loss are intertwined.

Cortisol(Corticosteroids) blocks cellular differentiation.

So, the reason we experience hair loss is because the cortisol response from the DHT sensitivity eventually halts our hair stem cells from differentiating into the hair follicle matrix. At the same time the hair follicle matrix which produces the keratinized portion of the hair, is susceptible as well. Therefore over time as cortisol levels increase and begin to saturate the matrix the hair matrix itself begins to get smaller and thinner, then the matrix is unable to build a thick healthy follicle.

Second, nano lipid encapsulation does actually work very well for large molecule chemicals; > 1000g/mol.

Third, after the cortisol is removed the cellular differentiation is immediately resumed.

Forth, each person has a different threshold for DHT sensitivity and will incur a different cortisol response level. Some people may have a high DHT response that highly increases cortisol while others may have a very low DHT response with very minor cortisol increases. Therefore, some people may need to drop the cortisol by a large margin while other people may need to drop it only slightly.

So, in a true setting; not spectral F7. You would have a pure source of astressin-b encapsulated with nano lipids. Then you would apply that as much as needed to reduce your specific cortisol response to as low as possible.

My feelings on astressin-b are that while it works it may be impractical in the long run as it affects your ACTH levels as well as the corticosteroids.
It takes a lot of time to go through my thousands of pictures to find photos that represent equal hair length and angle. So I will be posting updates over the next couple of days. Today I am posting photos of my bald spot. I have put markers on the photo to give approximate equal locations. Let me know what you think.

Also, from this point on, my hair growth should begin to accelerate as hairs come out of the dorment stage. I am really looking forward to the next couple of months.

As always, right click the photo and open in new tab to see the highest resolution.
I am just going to drop these for now. I am getting down to the last few weeks before the 4 month mark. New hairs are most visible around the edges which seems to support the latest news on surrounding tissue effecting hair regrowth. I definitely feel that my hair has thickened up and my hair line has come forward a bit. However, I am bummed that I still have the stupid inverted widows peak. I will update at the end of the month with final four month pics and comparisons.

I still will continue with this treatment until May of next to conclude the full 9 months that I anticipated regrowth to take. However, I will likely taper down the use of allantoin to .5 - 1%.
Anyways, I just wanted to first say that all the major side effects I noticed in the beginning of treatment have subsided.

The major side effects when starting were:

Hyper kinetic gallbladder - overactive bile production in the small intestine

Hypersomnia - inability to wake up

I believe that my body has now stabilized with the new lower level of cortisol and generally I feel great. I still feel sleepy in the mornings but I no longer have any trouble waking up. My gallbladder is no longer giving me explosive shits after eating food which is wonderful. Keep in mind the diarrhea was only after eating and did not continue through the day which made it manageable. That lasted for about a month and a half.

Some minor side effects that are still ongoing are general stinky head syndrome. The stuff stinks; so I generally try to rinse my head off after it has dried. Also, dandruff which I believe is mostly due to the allantoin. The level of dandruff waxes and wanes. This last batch I made had an excess amount of allantoin in it which has produced more dandruff that normal. The vitamin b-6 gave me headaches the first couple of days after adding it but those have gone away.

If this works and I obtain full regrowth I will likely remove the allantoin as I dont believe it will be needed anymore. And I will also begin testing other methods of transdermal delivery. All my ingredients have a molecular weight of less than 400 g/mol and other delivery systems may work. The DMSO however is such a potent anti-inflammatory that I have hesitant of taking it away completely.

On a side note, I broke my index finger about 10 years ago and it had lost quite a bit of mobility. Interestingly, since starting this treatment I have regained the ability to flex/bend it.

I am beginning to think that the keratolyic effect of allantoin combined with anti-inflammatories allows the body to regenerate instead of repair by loosening keratinized cells at such a rate that the body is able to heal with out going into repair mode.

Pictures 11-28-2011

Sorry everyone. Work and the holidays have been keeping me quite busy. I mentioned last time that I had added vitamin B6 to my mix to help decrease the amount of shedding. And I am happy to report that I have noticed a decrease in the numbers of hairs shedding. Also, I may be tripping out but my hair is really starting to feel thicker. In the last few weeks I have noticed an increase in new hairs but I suspect that they all aren't here to stay. I feel that it may take a couple shedding's before they are strong enough to stay.

Anyways on to the pictures.

I mentioned in previous post that I was seeing both increased hairs and increased shedding. Also, I pointed out that the hair bulb of the new cells were noticeably smaller. And so I began researching for something to add to my mix that will hopefully abate the hair shedding and increase the hair bulb(follicle matrix) size.

Filaggrin is known as a protein filament that is used to increase strength and structure to cells. Epithelial cells (which the hair matrix is mostly made of) use to filaggrin to bind themselves to keratin.

Vitamin B6 up-regulates mRNA expression of profilaggrin which derives into individual filaggrin proteins. So adding this will hopefully this will help with my hair shedding. I'll update later on if I notice less or more hair shedding.

There are toxicity problems with vitamin b-6 therefore I only add 250mg to my mix. This should result in 4-8 mg per day well below the RDA amount.

Amazon link:
Country Life Coenzyme Active B-6

Also, I reduced the allantoin to 1% because of excess skin peeling. I'll post new pictures soon.

Nov 12th Pictures

I am a little disappointed right now because I think that this is going to take longer than I originally thought. I have noticed some of the new hairs falling out and under examination I have noticed that the hair matrix and hair bulb are much smaller in comparison to a normal hair. This leads me to believe that there has been physical damage and over time the hair follicle matrix has slowly become keratinized. Effectively walling in where the hair matrix should normally grow. However, even though hairs are shedding, I am still experiencing new hair growth. It is my belief that over time the allantoin will continue to soften the keratinized cells and the new hair will continue to push those softened cells upward and out. This means that multiple hair cycles will need to occur before the hair is strong and rooted well enough to be self sustaining.

Thanks as always for following my blog.

On one more note. The new hairs seems to grow within groups or clusters. I have been sick lately but I have been working on a detailed post of the side effects and benefits of lowering your cortisol levels. I'll post that as soon as I am done.
