Bottom Part With Purple:

1) magic circle with 6st (6)

2) 2sc in each st (12)

3) 1sc in next st, 2sc in next st (18)

1) ch 42 *or less if need be

*** put the bottom costume piece on the doll then place the chain around the doll to make sure the ends of the chain don't quite touch, reason being you want the belt to have to stretch to fit on to ensure it stays up unless you plan to sew the belt in place then it doesn't matter
BELT BUCKLE:

WITH BLACK

1) magic circle with 6st (6)

2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc in next st, 2sc in next st (18)
sl st into next st and finish off

WITH GREY

1) magic circle with 6st (6)

sew grey piece onto black piece. Sew onto strap

Top Part With Purple:

1) magic circle with 6st (6)

What I did to make the hair was cut a handful of yellow yarn and sew it right on to the top of the head with a strand of yellow yarn. I then created a bow with a pipe cleaner and I hot glued this to the hair itself to hold it in place. Then I just tied off the hair on each side in 3 parts.

sew the larger hair pieces on first. 1 on each side of eye, and one front and center above the eyes and 1 in the back center. Sew around the edges leaving a small gap at top for stuffing. Stuff then sew the gap closed. Insert a long strand of yarn about the quarter of the way from bottom of hair piece and wrap it across to the other side, go back into the head and back out from where you went in. Pull the yarn tight to cinch it. Do this about 3 times for each hair piece.

sew the smaller pieces over the gaps in between the larger pieces. Follow the same steps as above.

I Built A Stone Fireplace For The Dollhouse Castle

I found a bottle brush Christmas Tree at London Drugs and I fell in love with it. Once I got it into the Castle I thought it was a bit too uniform and I really couldn't decorate it. So having an idea on what I really wanted I looked online for ideas and I saw a short clip on bottle brush trees getting a makeover! How awesome! So I found some fake tree pieces at the thrift store, cut them and stuck the pieces right into the tree.

the trees in each corner are the same tree!

So once I got the tree decorated I knew I had to have a fireplace to hang some stockings. For this, I got inspiration from childhood... we had a stone fireplace in one of the houses we lived in and I loved it, never forgot it. So decided to build one, and it really isn't that hard at all.

I started with some cardboard and simply cut out a shape I wanted. Then cut another and glued them together for strength. Got my hot glue gun and with some river rocks I had collected over the Summer, I got building!

I cut some branches and burned them a bit then dropped on some hot glue over them and rolled them in red beads. Looks like the real thing!

I LOVE it!! Turned out better then I thought it would. And here I've re-created a scene from my own childhood. Although my dad was much younger than the Grandpa pictured here, I remember my dad playing the accordion while we decorated the tree. Sweet memories I am so lucky to have!

I love the Happy Face! Who doesn't like to see a happy face?! This little guy stands about 6 inches tall and as you can see, you can do different faces. Add hair, big teeth no teeth, eyes with a wink or not.. the choices are endless really. Once you get the doll made let you imagination take over! This would be a great stocking stuffer or gift for a co-worker.

How To Crochet Fingers plus a Thumb! And Some Other Stuff

Halloween is over, boooooo! It was super fun this year and my kids totally enjoyed themselves. We started with dressing up right after school, then up to Grandma and Grandpa's for pictures, then back home to hand out some candy... then off to collect our candy.. then back to Grandma's where my oldest son put on a fireworks show, his first one and boy was it was fun! But I managed to miss a few of the big ones because I thought my camera was rolling when it wasn't... here's a short video that captures a little bit of it and some of my family too

Then back home to snuggle on our big comfy couch and watch Monster House and eat candy 'til we just couldn't eat no more! We all crashed out where we lay and woke up feeling a little hung-over from all that sugar, haha. Whew!! Maybe it's a gooood thing Halloween only comes around once a year!!

Ok, now back to business! I was able to post a couple more videos on youtube. This week I finished the full tutorial on how to crochet a Wybie doll, yes! I am pleased to have that done. Now on to the next... which I haven't decided on which one to do yet.... thinking, thinking ....

I also posted a tutorial on how to crochet fingers plus a thumb. I do plan to do this video over again but for now I think it's a good enough one that could help those struggling with the finger part of dolls. When I was learning I wished I had a video that walked me through the whole finger, thumb process... so I hope this helps someone out there

I am so glad I decided to bring my camera this beautiful Fall morning as we walked to school. There was frost on the ground and gorgeous colors to be seen everywhere we looked. I love the color of the leaves just as they fall to the ground...

Video Tutorial ** The Ghost of Wuss Puss

Working on a full video tutorial on how to make the Cat inspired by the movie Coraline. I've named this cat in the tutorial "The Ghost of Wuss Puss" because I am using white yarn. Black yarn doesn't show very well in tutorial type videos, it's just too hard to show stitches and so on. Using white was the best solution I could come up with.

Because I am learning how to use a video editor on my own I have had many struggles and lots of frustrating moments. I try for perfection but if I was to wait until I reach perfection before allowing others to view my tutorial I'd never get a video uploaded to youtube, lol... so bear with me... I will get better with time!

My sincere hope to to help those who don't really know how to crochet but want too! This is how I learned to crochet by watching tutorials on youtube. Never crocheted anything in my life before last year, October (2010). I desperately wanted to make my little boy a sackdoll for Christmas so went searching online and I stumbled upon The Golden Jelly Bean This was an absolute God send for me and I will forever be grateful to the Jelly Bean (Nikki) for helping me learn to crochet!

Here are the 1st two dolls I ever made ...

It has been so exciting to be able to make things my kids actually want to play with and things they take to Show and Tell at school. They love the toys I make them and that makes my heart sing with happiness!!

Ok, so I found out making and posting a crochet tutorial video is not as simple as I thought it was going to be! Wow, first I learned that my computer system's processor was just not large enough to play back my videos so I could not view the clips I was making in normal speed...very slooooow play back *ugh*

Once that problem was solved I realized I have to actually edit my clips, LOL and that is not as simple as 1 2 3 for someone who's never done that!

So now I'm learning and I'm getting the tutorial shot, edited, and saved. Whew! I'm hoping to get the full tutorial posted soon but in the mean time I did manage to get a short 3 minute video done on the magic circle.

My hope is that my tutorials are clear and easy. Feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Hilda Beans' beloved gardener passed some time ago and she has been waiting to lay him to rest. She searched high and low for a good coffin maker but with no luck. So Hilda commissioned me to do the honors. Here it is unfinished... I will give the poor man a lining for his coffin and pretty up the exterior soon. But I'd say it is a perfect fit!!

Now Hilda did have a husband, Mr.Beans, but he too met an early death. Some say his spirit haunts the study in the castle and thus no one dares enter there... but me! I am the brave one dear reader. And now that I know I can build coffins I will make him one, a fancy one, but until then his bones will remain in his favorite chair...

Since I last posted my castle has grown with an addition and a hallway to connect one section to the other. Both sections used to be dressers as some of you know. One dresser was my oldest son's 1st dresser who is now 19 years old and for sentimental reasons I couldn't bear the thought of throwing the old, beat up dresser away! Once I got the idea to build a dollhouse out of it the project just continued to get bigger and bigger! A friend of mine was moving and throwing away her son's dresser that was falling apart, well guess where it ended up, lol... yes indeed, it became the addition!

So anyway, like I said this will be a project in progress for a long time! I have fabric picked out for curtains and drapes.. I have an idea for a maids' room where all the linens will be stored and washing of the clothes will be done. Once the coffins are made I will start on some shelving ... but until then enjoy some more pictures and stay tuned, more castle updates will follow!!

I'll soon have more crochet time, yay!! I plan to start making video tutorials focusing on my own doll creations. Which means all the doll patterns I have designed so far will soon have their own step by step video... can't wait to get started on that. I am also contemplating selling the dolls that I make in each video tutorial as well. So there may be an Etsy store in my future but it's really just thoughts at this time... the future is yet to be seen! I will , of course, continue to offer my patterns freely to all

I am so very pleased with my facebook page, Amigurumi Freely and how it continues to grow. I have developed some new friendships and enjoy seeing everybody's amigurumi creations! Also, I can't tell you all how thrilled and completely flattered I am to see pictures of dolls created using my patterns... it's just a beautifully awesome thing!

I have also started a new facebook page Dollhouses and The Things That Go In Them I have been in love with dollhouses and all the tiny treasures that go in them since childhood so why not share with others who feel the same!

Aside from facebook updates I also have a quick family update! Two of my children had Summer b-days. Now my youngest child is 9 years old! My goodness time does fly, lol pictured below is Jordan who turned 10 on July 30th and Gracie who turned 9 on August 13th.

**The line inside you are about to crochet into does not appear even but it will even out when you crochet the one loop to the next. (enlarge the picture above by clicking on it to see what I mean).

2+) In the BLO, 2tog until you close the gap.

** Remember to finish stuffing the body before you close up the hole

(Here I lost my 3.75mm hook so I started to use a 4mm hook and did so to the end of the doll).

LEGS WITH BLACK:

1) Magic circle with 6 st (6)

14) 1sc in the next 5 st switch to white on the last stitch

Assembling of Legs:
Bend a pipe cleaner so 2 halves are same length as leg and wrap the remaining pipe around finger as pictured below. Insert into leg and shape foot as desired. Fiddle around with it until you are happy with the shape and also the leg should stand up on it's own. Cut a piece of white felt and hot glue it to bottom of foot.

ARMS with White:

1) magic circle with 6 st (6)
2-14) Isc in each st for 13 rows (6)
15) 2sc in each st (12)
16) 1sc in next 2 st then 2tog (9)
**Optional, if you want bendable arms the insert pipe cleaner as pictured. If not then continue on with row 17+ but DO NOT stuff.
17+)1sc the 2tog until you close the gap. Finish off and leave long tail for sewing and shaping hand.

EARS:

1) Magic circle 4. Do not join. ch1 and turn. (4)
2) 1sc then 2sc in the next 2 st then 1sc in last st. ch1 and turn. (6)
3) 1sc in next 2 st then 2sc in the next 2st then 1sc in the last 2 st (8)
Finish off. Leave long tail for sewing.

NOSE:

Stuff nose. Weave the end of the tail in and out around the open edge of the nose and then pull until the gap closes up. Sew onto face

The face is up to you, there are many different ways to make the mouth and eyebrows depending on the kind of look you want the doll to have. I sewed in 5 lengths of yarn across the head and cut them short. The hair pieces stand up nice on their own but you should put in some clear drying glue or fabric stiffener to keep the ends from fraying.

Dresser Turned Into Dollhouse Castle

My Castle!

Ok, it wasn't just 2 weeks ago that I turned a dresser into a dollhouse and I was really happy with that but the more I looked at the dollhouse I kept seeing a castle hiding in the walls just begging to be created so what to do but follow my heart and just go with it!

Here are the rooms of the castle... oh and you'll also meet Ms Hilda Beans and her maid, Mary!

I made the polar bear rug with craft felt and faux fur. The nightstand I made out of children's wooden blocks. Curtains are scrap fabric pieces and the trunk is a Pirate's of the Caribbean toy!

The wash basin is a little Japanese dish and the rug on the wall is from a book called Rugs and Carpets of the World which I picked up at the thrift store for a dollar! I framed the paper rugs with fabric to give the paper some depth.

I was fortunate in my life to have a dad that taught me how to use power tools and when I moved out on my own he supplied me with a bunch of great tools which I used to cut the windows for my castle...

the rugs here are more of the paper ones I got out of the book I mentioned earlier. I got fake flowers from walmart for a dollar to fill my beautiful vase which is also a thrift store find.

And because I'm a fanatic for details I melted down a big candle and made tiny ones...

Most everything you see I made aside from the cat and the wooden furniture. The pictures and rugs are from the rug book that I framed with fabric over wood. The elephants are beautiful and they are from a plastic necklace that I got from the thrift store along with most of the ornaments you see. The books I made as well from a dollhouse site here

Oh, I just love Hilda! My little boy found her in a thrift store just yesterday... she is completely poseable, soft body with hard limbs.. you can see she's holding a cup of tea! I named her Hilda and my son gave her the last name of Beans. For a whopping .99 cents I think we got a steal of a deal and Hilda got a great home!

Rumor has it that she was a witch in her day but you know you can't believe everything you hear!

And here is Maid Mary... she's a heck of a cook for being so young! Her mother sure taught her well..

That sink was a wooden box that I took apart and gave it legs and the water pump is one of those pencil sharpeners that were sold a long time ago.. I just removed the bottom part of it. Works great!

Dresser Turned Dollhouse ... Recycle Unwanted Furniture!

Recently I had a small dresser that we had grown out of.. it was passed to each of my children over the years and I decided it was time to get rid of it and put it out on my porch awaiting a dump run. A week or so went by and I started to think maybe just maybe I could turn it into a dollhouse! Weird I know, but one of my other obsessions is dollhouses. So I hauled it into my kitchen and started taking it apart...

It has been well used over the last 15 years!

Once I took it apart I realized a couple things. One, it was too deep and two, the spaces between the floors would be to short. So I had to strip it completely and size it down and space out the floors.

Yes, I work in my kitchen, lol

So once I measured out a good distance for the floors and sawed everything down it was time to piece it back together...

OK, all together and ready for wallpaper and flooring! I found an excellent site that provides free printables for dollhouses, super awesome! Check them out here http://www.jennifersprintables.com/

Once I got the wallpaper and flooring printed off I decided to use sticky shelf paper for two of the floors as well. It's a good idea to try out different looks before gluing!

Ok, not bad but it seemed a little dull to me. The middle floor was too large and I wanted a roof and a garden! Luckily I had a dollhouse that no one wanted to play with because it was too low to the ground and too deep and heavy. It sat on top of my fridge for a long time collecting dust! So I got out my saw and hammer again...

Not a user friendly house so lets take it apart...


And look at all the treasures I get too!!

No, the roof did not fit like this when I removed it from the other house! I had to saw it and piece it back together too!


I ended up with a hole that had to be filled

Ok, now I'm starting to really like this house and my kids are now starting to see the light at the end of an ugly tunnel...

There's a space at the bottom! Just enough room for a garden... I'll use the top of the dresser that I removed and some of those treasures I got when I took apart the other house..

Wuss Puss! As Coraline called him, what was his real name anyway... oh let's just take a look at WiKipedia and solve the mystery

"The Cat – A black cat from Coraline's world. The cat acts as a mentor to Coraline and guides her through her journey. He claims to have no name, explaining that cats do not need names to tell each other apart. Unlike many of the characters in the novel, he does not have an "other world" counterpart, saying that unlike other creatures in the world, cats can "keep themselves together". He moves freely from one world to the next, although he can talk in the other mother's world. He is very sarcastic, though helpful towards Coraline. He's defiant of the other mother, but seems to tremble at the thought of being stuck in the Other Mother's world. He befriends Coraline and helps her escape from the other mother."

OK, mystery remains unsolved, Wuss Puss it is! Although his real character is really quite far from "being" a Wuss Puss

Sew the 2 pieces together, starting from the mouth area and work up. Leaving an opening on the top of the head for stuffing. You want to stuff from the top down towards the mouth. Close up once you have the stuffing in and the shape you want. Take a look at pictures of the cat to stuff and shape accordingly.

NOSE:

1) Chain 5

2) ch1 turn, 1sc in each chain starting with the 2nd ch from the hook (4)

3-6) 1sc in each st for 4 rows. Remember to ch1 and turn at the end of every row (4)

7) ch1 turn, 2sc in the 1st st, 1sc in the next 2 st, 2sc in the last st (6)

8) ch1 turn, 1sc in each st (6)

9) ch1 turn, 3sc in the 1st st, 1sc in the next 4 st, 3sc in the last st (10)

10) ch1 turn, 1sc in each st (10)

Finish off

Lay the nose over the face, it will not fit length ways but the top part will fit end to end across the top of the head. Pin in place at the top and sew across the top starting at one end and work toward the center, leave an opening for stuffing, now start at the other end and towards the center. You want to stuff from the top downwards as you did for the head so leave an opening. Once the top is sewn in place start sewing around the nose pulling the nose downwards a bit (not too much) and make sure you keep the nose centered as you pull and sew. Stuff and shape and then close up that opening at the top.

EYES, NOSE & WHISKERS:

The eyes I cut from light blue felt. The shape is very important to get that creepy look. I cut 4 pieces, glued 2 together to give the eye some depth and then glued onto face. Cut an eyelid from black felt and carefully glue that over top of eye, same goes for the pupil. I also cut a length of black yarn and very carefully glued that under the eye to finish the eye off nicely!

The nose I made by stitching in pink yarn. Whiskers are important too for the overall look of the cat, I used thin wire and pushed each one through the nose.

BODY:

1) magic circle with 6 st (6)

2) 2sc in each st (12)

3) 1sc in the 1st st then 2sc in the next st, repeat around (18)

4) 1sc in the next 2 st then 2sc in the 3rd st, repeat around (24)

5-7) 1sc in each st for 3 rows (24)

8) 2tog then 1sc in the next 2 st then 2tog (18)

9-13) 1sc in each st for 5 rows (18)

14) 1sc in the next 2 st then 2sc in the 3rd st, repeat around (24)

15-16) 1sc in each st for 2 rows (24)

17) In the BLO, 2tog then 1sc, repeat around for 1 row

*** before the hole gets too small you need to stuff the body. I recommend that you stuff the body with pellets or grains of rice. This will keep the cat from flopping over when you stand it up, the head sits away from the body which makes it top heavy. I took some light fabric and stuffed it in the body making sure to line the entire body completely so nothing could escape then filled it with grains of rice. I then dropped in some hot glue and folded the fabric over to seal it up like a pouch.

18+) In the BLO 2tog until you are left with 7 st (7)

***continuing on now with the neck

Neck: 1-5 ) 1sc in each st for 5 rows

Neck: 6) 1sc then 2sc in the next st, repeat around (10)

Take a pipe cleaner and fold it over a couple times and trim excess. You want the pipe a bit longer then the neck itself. Glue a small piece of felt to each end of the pipe cleaner, push it into the neck and now you can sew it to the back of the head. The felt pieces will keep the pipe cleaner from working any holes inside the cat.

EARS make 2:

1) chain 7

2) 1sc in each ch starting with the 2nd ch from hook (6)

3) ch1 turn, 1sc in each st (6)

4) ch1 turn, 2tog then 1sc in the next 2 st then 2tog (4)

5) ch1 turn, 1sc in each st (4)

6) ch1 turn, 2tog twice (2)

7) ch1 turn, 1sc in each st (2)

8) ch1 turn, 2tog (1)

(9) 1sc in the remaining st

finish off. Sew on head. Look at pictures first and determine how you want the ears to sit on the head. Sew on accordingly. I tied a bit of yarn to each end of ear and frayed the ends to give it a ratty sorta look.

Ghost Child Doll Inspired by Coraline

I had no intention of making this doll. But just before I finished Wybie I ended up putting him down, picking up the grey yarn and making her and quite quickly too. So quickly in fact I finished her then realized I had given her a short neck! I had to cut her head off and add a few rows then carefully put her back together, lol. I hope you enjoy making her, she makes a great addition to the collection!

I took a brown felt pen and lightly dusted over the shoe then I sewed in some laces. All pictured below.

For the bottom of the dress I never did write down the pattern but it's simple enough. Chain a length that will fit around the under side of the dress. Chain 4, turn, skip a st and sc in the next. Repeat this all the way across the chain.

ARMS:

1) Magic circle 4 (4)

2) 2sc in each (8)

3-5) 1sc in each for 3 rows (8)

6) 2tog, 1sc in the next 2st, 2tog, 1sc in the last 2st (6)

**Do Not Stuff the Arms

To attach the arms thread yard through the inside part of the upper arm as pictured below then continue that thread though the body and on through the inside of the other arm pull it tight and knot off, doing them this way gives you jointed arms!

chain a length that will fit around the upper arm. I chained 10 for the area pictured below. I also lightly dusted over this chain with a brown felt pen.

Do this same process for the dress collar just below the neck too.

EARS make 2:

magic circle with 4 st. Do not join

ch1 turn

1sc then 2sc to the end (6)

1sc in each (6)

finish off and shape.

I took the remaining yarn tails and sewed through each pointed end of the ear and pulled to form a bit of a round shape. Pictured below

Yahooo!! You're almost finished, now for the fun part... my favorite part of making dolls. Adding hair and creating a face that gives the doll it's personality!

This doll's hair was pretty easy as you can just make braids then sew them onto her head. I made about 12 braids, and started by sewing at the top of her head and working downwards, styling as I went. 6 braids on one side and six on the other.

Ok, so for the eyes and mouth, nose and so on, it is all up to the creator. I chose to make yarn buttons and I glued these in place to keep the shape of the eye, magic circle 6, 2sc in each (12) finish off, used black pen to paint in 4 button holes. The nose is created by inserting a length of yarn through the back of the head and out through where the nose will be. Use a needle and crochet hook to build and shape the nose. Once you've finished run the tail of the yarn back out through the back of the head and knot off. Hide in the hair. The same goes for the mouth.

For the collar you need to make 2 separate pieces.

For the 2nd piece, stitch the ends so they are more pointed where it sews to the front as pictured

There are 2 ways you can do the legs, one is to have a little bit of the legs showing at the bottom of pants as pictured or choose to just do the pants to the shoes. The choice is yours. The pattern for the legs below is for a little bit of the leg showing... if you don't want that then skip the front loop part and stitch in both loops near the bottom of the leg.

RIGHT LEG:

1) pick up 6st in a circle (6)

2) 2sc in each st (12)

3) 1sc in each st (12)

4) 2tog, 1sc in the next 4st, 2tog, 1sc in the last 4st (10)

5-10) 1sc in each st for 6 rows (10)

11-12)1sc in the FLO for 2 rows. Finish off (10)

13)Insert skin color into the inside edge that was created by stitching around the front loops, and 1sc around. Finish off

LEFT LEG:

1) pick up 6 st in a circle (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc in each st (12)

The shoes look just fine as they are now but I wanted to add the heel which then required me to make the back piece.

Heel) Ch 7 and 1sc in each ch across starting from the 2nd ch from hook. Finish off.
Back of Shoe) Ch5, 1sc across starting from the 2nd ch from hook
ch1 turn, 2tog twice. Finish off

ARMS:

1) Magic circle 6 (6)

CUFF Just above hands:

Chain a length that will fit around wrist, 1sc in each ch starting with the 2nd ch from hook. Sew on wrist as pictured. You can use craft paint as I did. Or chain with a grey color

HANDS: Now you can either make fingers as I did or make a fingerless hand. I have a video tutorial on how to crochet doll fingers on youtube if interested ~> how to crochet fingers

I used craft paint for the effect above

16+) this is where you go on and make fingers. Make the fingers any length you choose. If you chose not to make fingers you can make the simpler round hand: 1sc then 2tog until you close the gap. Add a thumb if you want to!

EARS:

1) Magic circle 6, pull tail to close circle

2) do not join, ch1 and turn. 1sc then 2sc (9)

3) Ch1 turn, 1sc in each. Finish off. Leave long tail for sewing

As pictured below, I threaded the tails through each pointed end of ear and pulled to curl the ends in. Sew onto head

Now I like to root the hair into my dolls. Wybie has crazy hair. You need to root the hair as pictured below then brush, brush and brush, brush, and brush, brush some more until you have all the strands frizzed completely out. Use a wire brush for the best results. Remember this will take some time!
Take small bunches and tie them off then get them damp. Fiddle with the bunches until you are happy with the look. Below is the hair I did another Wybie doll. Same process I used for this recent Wybie but this last time I used black yarn only

TOP OF BOOTS:

Optional** Once you have the boot sewn together, shape the hollow part with your fingers until you are happy with the shape and put in a stitch or 2 to hold that shape together.

Now I like to root the hair into my dolls. Coraline has a part to the side of her head so to make this style look it's best I rooted most of it and then lay the rest over the head and sewed it in place as pictured below.

Roll some yarn loosely around your hand then snip through the middle as pictured

Once you have all the yarn you want on the head and you've styled it the way you want it and sewed some of it down there will still be some areas that you'll find as pictured.

I take a chunk as pictured above and run a bead of hot glue along the head and gently drop the hair in place and smooth over it with my hand. I do this around the back too. I like the way the hair stays put when I do it this way. But if you are not good with the glue gun then this is something you shouldn't do but rather just sew it in place

A departure from the dolls I normally make

Hey everybody! I was reading a book about Fairies the other night and got totally inspired to make a doll. She is in progress, no pattern, just free handing her. I love her shape so far and can't wait to dress her in something soft and pretty.

I just got her arms and legs on late last night. Hoping to make her feet and finish the face later today. Not sure about the clothes except I will not be crocheting them. I want the dress to drape her shape.

Looking at her she is quite similar to some dolls I've seen on another blog except for those are jointed and absolutely beautiful. Someone on my facebook page just posted some pictures of a house they crocheted and it's really awesome. I love the details she added... check that out too!

Crochet Alien LGM Inspired by Toy Story

Now to make the legs continue stitching around row 13 until you've reached the middle of the body. Chain 5 and slip stitch directly across as pictured below. Chain 1 turn and stitch across the 5 chains then continue 1sc around the one leg for 5 rows.

At the end of the 5 rows stitch 2sc then 2tog until you are down to 20 stitches then in the BLO stitch 2tog until you have closed the gap.

Insert blue yarn as pictured below and repeat steps for 2nd leg as you did for 1st

For Shoes with black:

1) magic circle 6 (6)
2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc in each st (12)
4) 1sc then 2sc in the next st (18)
5-8) 1sc in each st for 4 rows (18)
9) ch1 turn, 1sc in next 9st
10) ch1 turn, 2tog then 1sc in next 5st then 2tog
11) ch1 turn, 2tog then 1sc in next 3st then 2tog
12) ch1 turn, 2tog twice then finish off. Sew to bottom of leg

Arms With Blue:

1) Pick up 6 stitches where you want the arms to be (6)
2) 2sc in each stitch (12)
***now fold arm in half to determine which is the top half and which is the bottom half

3-4) 1sc in the BLO for the first 6 stitches and 1sc in each of the FLO for the last 6 stitches. Do this for 2 rows.
***Doing the arm this way helps the arm to hang down.

5-11) 1sc in both loops for 7 rows, switch to green yarn on the last stitch (12)
12) In BLO 1sc in each st (12)
13) 1sc then 2sc (18)
***continue to stitch around until you reach the middle on the hand.
Join across with a sl st to create 2 sections for the fingers.

1) 1sc in each around for one row (9)
2) 1sc then 2tog until you close the gap

Making fingers can be tough and it takes practice. Take your time and switch to a smaller hook if you have troubles getting the hook into the stitches.

For the thumb you pick up about 4 or 5 stitches and 1sc in each st until you have the desired length. Thumbs should be shorter than fingers. Finish off.

Ears with Green:

magic circle 8, pull tail, do not join, ch1 and turn (8)
1sc then 2sc in the next st (12)
ch1 turn, 1sc then 2sc in the next st (18)
ch1 turn, 1sc in each st (18)
ch1 turn, 1sc then 2sc in the next st(27)
1sc in each st (27)

Finish off and fold corner over as pictured and sew around the edge.

Belt With Black:

chain a length to fit around waist. Stitch across starting with 2nd chain from hook. Finish off and sew to waist

Collar around Neck With Burgundy :

Chain a length to fit around neck. Stitch across starting with 2nd ch from hook. Fold over and sew along edge. Finish off and sew onto neck.

Antennae with Green:

1) Chain a desired length
2) You can DC in each for 1 row as I did which is quicker. And I sewed around the pipe cleaner as pictured.
or sc in each chain for 4 rows, fold in half and stick pipe cleaner inside. Either way works fine.

Eyes with white:

1) magic circle 6 (6)

2) 2sc in each st (12)
3) 1sc in each st (12)
finish off , paint on black circle with craft paint or sew on a small black button or piece of felt
***shape a bit with fingers, put in a little stuffing or like I did cut a piece of soft Styrofoam in shape of eye. Use some hot glue and place inside your crochet piece, glue or sew to head.
***plain old stuffing works fine too just sew a side of the eye to head and stuff before sewing closed.
Chain 5 or 6 with the green and sew around top of eye to outline the eye a bit.

Make mouth as you please.

For the planet on his chest I used 3 pieces of yarn. Orange, red and yellow
Insert and sew as pictured
