The purpose of the Homeschool Moms Winter Summit is based upon Ephesians 3:16-20: “I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being...that you may be filled to the measure of all fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory...” The Winter Summit desires to instill within the often weary and embattled homeschool mom the encouragement and empowerment so desperately needed to finish her race well, to the glory of God. We strive to do this through inspiring speakers, heartfelt praise, meaningful fellowship, practical workshops, and joy-filled laughter, all designed to lift up, strengthen, and support the homeschool mother.

THEME
“Renew, Refresh, Restore”
The purpose of this conference is to Renew YOUR homeschool vision, Refresh YOUR heart in the middle of the winter months, and Restore YOUR strength to fulfill His call for your family. It is NOT a convention but a retreat for the weary or hungry mother just needing mid-year encouragement. We are totally walking by faith that God is orchestrating a giant blessing for those that attend this summit. We are asking for HIS grace and blessing to undergird and strengthen the families of homeschool women in the state of Oklahoma. Pray about bringing others, as we know that when we encourage others, we are often encouraged ourselves. Ask for this as a Christmas, Valentines or birthday gift. Offer to room with your fellow journeyman to save on expenses. We hope to see you there.

After you have registered for the Winter Summit, be sure to call the Marriott to reserve a room. You are responsible for you own hotel room reservation. (888-809-2325 toll free) The Winter Summit registration does NOT include the cost of your hotel room. Although we have blocked off a certain number of rooms at their special conference rate of $99 per room (up to four ladies per room), we cannot guarantee availability. Ask for the “Homeschool Moms Winter Summit” discounted room rate when you call to make your reservations. If you have any challenges getting this room rate, please call Roxanne Parks at 405-514-1790. Room reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card, but may be cancelled without penalty up to 24 hours prior to check-in.

RESTRICTIONS
In order to make this conference a blessing for all those that attend, we will only allow nursing “infants”. We cannot allow nursing “toddlers” in the ballroom as they would be a darling distraction. If you have a nursing infant/toddler, we encourage you to consider bringing a family member or other care-giver so that you can enjoy the sessions without distractions.

Homeschoolers, in our overachieving ways, have tendencies to drown ourselves obsessing over curriculum choices, daily schedules and meeting expectations. Have any of us spent time comparing ourselves to a friend's scholarly success, feeling inadequate? Have we ever looked judgmentally upon another whose educational bar didn't quite "measure up" to ours? We ensare ourselves if we engage in any of these activities. The truth is that God is calling us, dedicated homeschool moms, to function not as cookie-cutter robots, but as uniquely equipped servants, each weaving a beautiful thread into His Kingdom's tapestry.

About Aleta
Aleta grew up in Stonewall, Oklahoma. She played the piano for FBC, Stonewall all during her HS & College years. Aleta graduated with a BS in Music Education from East Central University, Ada, OK. She has been married to Brad Biddy 29 years. He is a petroleum geologist for Devon Energy. Her four children (ages 25, 21, 19, 16) have been homeschooled for the past 19 years. She has served on OCHEC Convention Committee (3 years), the Christian Fellowship Homeschool Co-op Board of Directors (3 years), and as a Sunday School teacher (134 years ??? can’t remember how many). She is a member of the adult choir as well as the handbell choir (22 years!) at Quail Springs Baptist Church. She is part of the QSBC Intercessory Prayer ministry and leads small-group women’s Bible study. Besides homeschooling her last daughter she currently teaches high school Grammar/Composition/Literature at CFHCo-op.

Amy Groeschel Moment by Moment, Day by Day: Living by the Spirit Born and raised in Oklahoma (a Choctaw High School graduate). Amy is a home schooling mother of six wonderful kids (four girls an two boys). Their ages are: 14, 13, 10, 8, 5 and 4. Married for 17 years to Senior Pastor of Lifechurch.tv, Craig Groeschel, Amy and Craig felt a call to home schooling during their wedding engagement. Amy has led and taught women’s Bible studies for over 13 years. She is currently co-writing a discipleship curriculum and speaking at various women’s conferences. Amy has a passion and call on her life to build-up women in their relationship with God.

About Cheryl
Cheryl is a homeschooling veteran with nearly 30 years experience. Bill and Cheryl were pioneers in the modern HS movement, deciding to educate at home three years before they even first heard the word “homeschooling.” They have educated all five of their children at home, three already through graduation. After losing Bill to cancer 9 years ago, God provided miraculously so that Cheryl has been able to continue to stay home with their children. Cheryl is passionate about choosing to educate rather than school children. Her heart is to encourage parents to think long-term and disciple and educate children for the adults that they will become in 30 or 40 years – building character, vision, relationships, and a love of learning that transcend childhood and adolescence at home. In addition, Cheryl has taught numerous Bible studies and women’s retreats. She is the director of Lodestar Ministries (http://www.lodestaronline.com/) and heads the homeschooling ministry Educating For Life. She continues to equip and encourage families through the website, blogging, recording teaching CDs, support group meetings, conferences, and consulting.

The ABC's of High School Testing
This workshop will acquaint the homeschooling parent with testing for college-entrance, National Merit Scholarship program, in addition to CLEP, SAT Subject Tests and AP.

Transcripts and Beyond
This workshop will help you learn how to put together a transcript for the high school years using an easy record keeping system beginning in the 8th or 9th grade. In addition, you will learn how to a create "brag sheet" to showcase your high school student's honors, extracurricular activities, employment, community service, summer experiences and interests. This is Very helpful to use with college and scholarship applications, and is a good tool for record keeping in these areas. Our students' high school years are so much more than a final grade on their transcript!

About Sherri
After homeschooling two children for 17 years, my youngest graduated from high school this last May and is attending the University of Tulsa. My son graduated from Rice University this past May also. I have returned to college full-time pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. I am passionate about students receiving a quality education and want to continue using the talents the Lord has given me. My family has just returned from Sierra Leone over the Christmas holidays where we worked with 80 orphans testing their reading and math skills, setting up a library, and implementing a reading program. We hope to continue this work by helping them establish a "home-study" program in the orphanage to supplement their basic education. These amazing children have a vision to be Nehemiahs, helping to rebuild their war-torn country.

Linda Newsome and her husband, David, are from Pittsburgh and New York. A few years after they graduated from MSU, Oklahoma became home. Married for 27 years. Dave has been a practicing veterinarian in Edmond, OK for 26 years. Linda has raised Belgian Tervuren dogs for 35 years and is a nationally recognized breeder and professional trainer. While showing dogs and conducting obedience and conformation seminars Linda has visited most states and traveled overseas multiple times. An additional continuing passion for both Linda and Dave is the ongoing pursuit of healthy nutrition.

The homeschool journey began in 1985. Dave and Linda are the parents of six home schooled children. Currently, three are in college and three at home. The homeschool walk has been filled with blessings and struggles as God has encouraged them to grow as His children. Within and beyond her family Linda has felt God encouraging her to motivate students to reach high, dream big and stand strong for Him.

As Christian homeschoolers a common goal is shared. A goal of raising warriors for Christ; warriors that think, speak and write while consistently filtering life through God’s perspective. Much appreciation is felt towards those who opened the road now traveled as well as to those with whom we gratefully "lock arms" as the march continues.

My husband Dan and I are OCHEC Trustees and have been homeschooling since 1998. We have 5 children, ranging in age from 4 months to 17 years, including a daughter with cerebral palsy and hearing impairment, and a son with autism who is visually and hearing impaired.

The Journey in Recognizing Attention Deficit and Auditory/Visual Processing Disorders
Have a child who can't sit still? How about a high achiever who spends hours on schoolwork? What about a straight A daydreamer? How about a child who can't seem to get ready in the morning without constant supervision? This session will address the reality of ADD/ADHD, auditory processing disorder, visual processing disorder, and other learning opportunities. Come find ways to identify if you or your child may have some of these issues and how to find the right help to allow you and/or your student to maximize his God-given potential.

About DeAnn
I started my journey as a career mom with a law degree and high powered position on the East coast. When our younger daughter, then 5 years old, started having multiple health and learning issues, God called me home to homeschool. Not knowing how we would survive as I was the sole bread-winner, much less how we would educate and help our children, we followed God's lead and jumped in with both feet. Today we have two children with ADD/ADHD and have dealt with a myriad of health issues from meningitis to epilepsy and a multitude of learning opportunities including auditory processing, visual processing and many others. God has brought into our lives some remarkable professional people who have helped us tremendously in so many areas. We have been blessed so see the amazing growth in our daughters and their God-given gifts. God has now blessed us with a 1 year-old foster child as well and we know He will do so much more!
