Homeless in Ahoskie, NC

We are as busy as ever with our efforts to warm up all those we can. We are experiencing our first “Artic Blast” (as I like to call it) and have provided emergency temporary shelter during the coldest of these nights for the homeless, in Ahoskie, N.C., who will come in. We also made the local police dept. aware of our provision. (In the event they should come across someone during the night who needed a warm place to stay.) It eludes me as to why someone would prefer to chance freezing to death, over coming inside, but it does happen, and we can’t force choices on them. I do sleep better knowing we have done the best we could and there is a warm place available to those who will take advantage of it. There is an old homeless man that I wish I could “hog tie” to get him…

Mr. T. took advantage of the emergency shelter.

We don’t usually have this much snow in the area of North Carolina where we are located. It gets mighty cold sometimes but we have had an unusually cold winter this year. My first concern was for the homeless in a nearby County that is without a homeless shelter. There are no churches that provide emergency shelter for their poor and homeless either. It’s one thing to know there are homeless people in different places, but it’s quite another to see them. It’s something else altogether to know, see, and then to feel absolutely no call to action. Life and Death are in the Power of the Tongue

When our children were very young, Andy and I set our children down at the kitchen table, we prayed and laid our hands on them and we declared God’s word over their lives. I know that words are powerful. I know that God’s words are true. Our children didn’t know or understand what we were doing, but we felt it was important. We wanted God’s blessing, protection, and provision on their lives. We prayed and declared this scripture over them: “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. 3Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. 4Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. 5Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. 6Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.

7“The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. Through the years, I have watched so many things take place. I have seen Satan rise up and attack on so many different levels. I stood on this word. I stand on it still. I now see it taking shape before my very eyes. Enemies defeated, health and blessings coming down, and promotions all around.

Bless your children and your grandchildren. Speak words of life and speak the word over them. Don’t think it won’t be tested, but be encouraged, God will prevail! Stand on what you know to be true. It’s coming over the bend.
