The Honda CRV Takes on the Toyota Rav4

Panama City Honda shoppers looking for a sporty SUV model can check out the Honda CRV models available at Proctor Honda. But how does the CRV measure up to others in its class? Well, we decided to test drive these vehicles online at Proctor's new online comparison shopping tool.

Let's get started.

Both the CRV and the Rav4 rated 5 stars in the driver safety category administered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. However, in terms of passenger safety, the Rav4 rated only a 4, while the CRV continued to excel with a 5 star rating.

JD Power and Associates gave the Honda CRV a top ranking in reliability among compact multi-activity vehicles, but the Rav4 was not listed in the top three. In general, JD Power and Associates ranked Honda vehicles fifth in inital quality. Toyota is ranked sixth.

The Toyota Prius has been a news darling as of late, but what the Honda Civic may lack in spicy news stories, it makes up for with its tried and true performance features. You know what they say: slow and steady wins the race.

Since both of these cars have been praised for their thought conscious design details and performance, we decided to test them out on the Proctor Honda comparison model tool.

Safety is an important factor in any vehicle purchase. Both the Civic and Prius have front and side driver and passenger airbags, although the Civic pulls in ahead by offering daytime running lights which have been proven to reduce driving accidents by 11%.

In terms of fuel economy and range, the Civic offers a 13.2 gallon tank as opposed to the Prius' 11.9 gallon capacity. To get an idea of how this new service works, we're going to compare two popular sedan models - the Honda Accord Sedan and the Toyota Camry. Both of these models have sold unusually well over the past decade, but we're going to compare their design and performance features side by side.

Starting with safety features, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave both vehicles a 5 star rating. However, the IIHS showed that the Accord Sedan performed much better than the Camry in its safety tests, with the Sedan ranking "Good" in each category, while the Camry ranked "Marginal" in 2 out of 3 scenarios and also failed the seat design test.

2010 Honda Insight Engine

The Honda Insight has a small pack of nickel-metal-hydride batteries that is stored under the trunk floor. Honda says lithium-ion batteries aren’t yet a viable option. Official fuel-economy ratings have yet to be released but some Honda sources suggest that the fuel economy will be in over 40 mpg in the city and 45 on the highway.
