I don’t know about. you, but I’m not done with my white jeans just yet! These are my favorite Levi wedgie jeans I’ve had for years now, comfy high waist, nice and opaque.

Ali-Shaun and Rhonda took the reins planning this fabulous weekend and I couldn’t be more grateful. Seriously, everything was so good from the house we stayed at to the food/drinks/dessert, itenarary and even the gifts they had waiting for each of us. We were spoiled beyond belief and it was truly a weekend I will never forget!

The Best Bachelorette Party Weekend Ever!

Let’s start at the beginning!

Weeks before the event, Rhonda sent me the itenarary for the weekend and it got me so excited! I had a long time to plan and anticipate the weekend with my friends, which made it feel like the fun was extended even longer!

There are 12 of us gals that have been blessed to know each other since our kids have grown up together. I always say that I didn’t know that when my now 16 year-old son started school that we would BOTH end up with lifelong friendships.

On Friday early afternoon, my friend Kelly picked me up, then we scooped up Marianna and Stephanie and headed to Gruene, Texas for the weekend.

If you’re not familiar, Gruene (pronounced “Green”), Texas is a charming historic district tucked along the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels. It’s about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Houston.

The House

Rhonda is the one who found the perfect home for us for the weekend! It’s the 8Sages – Gruene Luxury Getaway on VRBO and it accomodates 18.

There are 7 bedrooms (4 kings, 1 queen, and two rooms with 2 twin bunk beds each), 4 bathrooms with a private pool and fire pit. It’s a 10 minute walk from the Guadalupe River and a 4 minute drive from Gruene Hall.

We were all smitten as soon as we drove up the winding dirt road.

It has a huge front porch with rocking chairs and a large swing. There’s also a wooden swing hanging from the large tree out front.

Inside the main house is a large living room, dining room and kitchen that fit us all perfectly.

The gals gave me a room to myself with an en suite bathroom. And they had so many sweet gifts!

My bed was super comfy and I slept great while we were there. So nice to not have to wake up to an alarm!

We had dinner at the Gristmill and it was delicious. One thing to note though, there is no A/C there (except in the restrooms!).

Day 2

On Day 2, I got to sleep in and enjoy coffee in bed with my journal. Of course, I was up early but it was nice to linger in bed.

When everyone woke up, we went into the kitchen for more coffee and breakfast. The girls had prepped the croissants the night before. The ones from Trader Joe’s that are premade, but rise overnight. We also had chocolate croissants, quiche, Greek yogurt and berries.

A few of us went for a long walk and then we got ready and met the rest of the gang for shopping downtown.

This is the Dolly Cottage and it was so sweet inside! Especially touching in light of our legend’s recent passing. What a light in this world she was.

Then it was time for shopping and lunch!

We ate lunch on the patio at the Bird House.

I got the grilled chicken (sauce on the side) and grilled veggies with cornbread.

Then we strolled around town and popped into some boutiques.

We came back to the house that afternoon and hopped in the pool. Tara made the viral diet lemonade margarita and it was really good!

Private Chef Dinner

How fabulous that they hired a private chef to come prepare dinner for us?! Mark arrived around 4:45 and prepped and cooked for 3 hours and dinner was served at 7:45.

Before we ate, we joined hands around the table and our friend Andrea offered up a a beautiful prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for bringing us together to celebrate Megan, love, friendship, and the beautiful season ahead.

Bless Megan and Elliot as they prepare for marriage. Give them a love that is patient, joyful, forgiving, and strong — a love that keeps choosing each other through every season of life.

Surround their marriage with Your grace, protect their home, and fill it with laughter, peace, faith, and an abundance of love.

Thank You for the friendships gathered here tonight. May we always encourage Megan, pray for her, celebrate with her, and stand beside her.

Please bless this food, the hands that prepared it, and everyone gathered around this table. Bless our evening, keep us safe, and let tonight be filled with laughter and wonderful memories.

But first, let’s talk hair!

I’ve gotten so many DMs asking if I have hair extensions and the answer is no. But, I can see why y’all are asking – my hair has been growing so long. I actually got it cut a few weeks ago, but went a second time because I just want it shorter.

Originally, I thought I’d keep it this length for the wedding, but I decided I want to go a bit shorter just so it’s easier to deal with in the day to day.

I’ve taken Nutrafol vitamins for a couple of months, and wonder if that’s contributing to the growth. I do know my nails have also gotten long and very strong so maybe they’re related?!

I’ve been taking the Women’s Balance, which is formulated for women over 45 who experience hair thinning. This formula has ingredients to target key root causes of thinning, such as hormones, metabolism, and aging. 

I’ve noticed some hair thinning and also changes with texture right around my hairline. I’m not yet getting grey, but I am noticing some wiry texture where I bet the greys are lurking.

But, before I shampoo, I’ve been using the Olaplex No.3 Complete Repair Treatment. You put it on your wet hair, wait 3 minutes, then rinse out. I do that about every other time I shampoo.

And I only wash my hair about every 4 days.

Clarifying Shampoo

I still have issues with oily hair especially at the nape so I sometimes use this Oribe Clarifying Shampoo and it really works! My hairdresser used it on me when she noticed the same issue and it eliminates all the greasiness, leaving you with fresh, lightweight hair.

It goes on like a mouse and contains volcanic ash which is why it has a charcoal color. But it also smells really good. It’s on the pricy side, but a little goes a long way and you’re not supposed to use it for every wash.

K18 Repair Mask • K18 Heat Protectant • Living Proof Triple Bond Complex • Olaplex Bonding Oil

I alternate these repairing products as needed.

K18 Repair Mask • This one you put into your clean hair after shampooing, but don’t apply conditioner. Out of the shower, you towel dry your hair and apply 1-3 pumps depending on the size of your hair from root to tips. Leave it on for 4 minutes to let it activate. Don’t rinse, just style as usual. It’s recommended to use for the first 4-6 washes, then as needed.

K18 Heat Protectant • Before applying heat to my hair, I always use a heat protectant. This one is good for all hair types and textures and protects hair from heat up to 450 degrees.

Living Proof Triple Bond Complex • This is my old fave, a great bond builder for the three types of bonds in our hair. It reduces visible signs of hair damage including split ends while preventing breakage and future damage. You also apply this to towel dried hair and style as usual.

Olaplex Bonding Oil • I also like a hair oil on occasion. My hair tends to get oily at the scalp, but can look dry at the ends, especially on day 3 or 4 after washing. I’ll sometimes apply a tiny bit of oil to the towel dried ends before blowdrying or as needed between washes concentrating on the ends.

Dry Shampoo • Strand Plumping Styling Cream

I also rely heavily on dry shampoo and Divi is my current obsession. I like it so much that I added a travel size to my girls’ bachelorette party gift bags!

The Divi Strand Plumping Cream helps give incredible volume when you dry your hair. And the cool thing about this product is that it enhances hair strand density over time. I will note that you don’t need a lot- less is more with this product.

Oribe Hair Alchemy Serum • Thickening Spray • Wow Dream Coat

And here are a few more hair products I also like and cycle through.

Oribe Hair Alchemy Serum • This is a one-in-all treatment serum and also contains heat protectant so you don’t need two products. I really like the formula and how it glides onto my hair and keeps it feeling lightweight.

Thickening Spray • This thickening spray would be what I’d use in lieu of the Strand Plumping Styling Cream if I wanted a lighter weight product. I spray from root to tip and gives really nice volume without being at all heavy.

Wow Dream Coat • Living in Houston, the humidity is no friend to our hair, so this is what I use mostly in the summer when the humidity is at it’s worst. This helps tame the frizz that I tend to get and it keeps my hair looking smoother.

It’s funny because I tend to think of myself as more on the minimal side when it comes to beauty, but seeing all these products here makes me realize that I’m definitely not minimal when it comes to my hair!

I’m actually quite high maintenance and really like my hair products. But the truth is, I actually use all of these!

I mentioned a bit about it on Monday with a wedding update, but if you missed that post, my girlfriends have planned a weekend in Gruene, Texas (a small town in the Texas hill country) with a beyond fabulous itinerary. There will be 13 of us all staying in a beautiful home together.

I’m so excited and thankful and counting down the days!!

What to Wear?

I’m told to wear white on the first night and tried on a few more things trying to narrow it down.

This dress is so stunning, it could literally be the wedding gown! I’m so sad the bodice is just too small for me, I can’t quite get it zipped all the way up in the back.

It’s so gorgeous with all the 3D floral overalys, tiered details and comes in at the waist.

This mini dress was so so comfortable with one off shoulder. It’s fully lined and quite stretchy so it feels kind of like an active dress.

I thought this dress had potential because I have it in other colors and really like it! The jewel tones are just gorgeous, but I’m not sure the white looks that great because you can kind of see the layers in the skirt. Otherwise, it’s so silky soft, and I love how the top drapes.

This dress meets both the white and floral dress code:)  I liked it so much on, way better than on the hanger, which goes to show that you always need to try things on.

This dress is fully lined with lots of stretch and very easy to move in. The top has a grippy strap to keep it comfortably up and I really loved how the flowers give it that texture.

The dress comes in several colors, the solid black being a choice you can’t go wrong with, but I also really like the black with white flowers.

I love this dress, it’s so pretty and frilly. I’m just smitten! It has floral crochet details, ruffled hemline, halter style that buttons all the way up, you can wear it open.

Classic Mini Dress – This looked so cute online, but the lining was weird and showing, so it was in immediate NO.

I thought this pink floral mini dress was so pretty and although it has long sleeves, they are sheer so the dress is nice and lightweight. It’s got lots of darling ruffles and a playful shape with a coordinating tie belt.

This dress might be my favorite of all! It’s so gorgeous with a mix of pastel florals and the dramatic accordion pleat skirt.

The top is also pleaded, and it criss crosses in the back with an open section and tie.

I really like this linen dress that also fits the white and floral dress codes. It’s fitted at the bodice and waist and flows out to this mini skirt with pockets. The shoulder straps are a little wider, but I’m wearing it with a strapless bra.

This dress is definitely a contender, it’s so darling. The pink florals look so pretty against the white background with lattice stitching. The drop waist, faux buttons and ruffled sleeve and hem feel so fresh and flirty.

This dress is so so pretty! It’s a teensy bit long on me.. I’m considering taking it to the tailor. I’m not wearing a bra but feel secure with the bustier top, has adjustable straps, and just gorgeous flowy movement. I think this is beautiful for a dressier event or even a wedding guest dress!

Wedding Planning

It’s honestly surreal to recognize that Elliott and I will be getting married in just a couple of months. 75 days to be exact!!

I do not take him or our relationship for granted and I’m just so thankful to be joining our lives together in this way.

We’ve been together for over three years (we met 2-3-23), got engaged in May 2025, and our wedding is November 7.

We’ve talked at length about our future, blending families, and what we want our wedding to look and feel like.

We both agreed that we want a more intimate ceremony, something meaningful and special to share with our family and close friends, but not a huge extravagant event that would end up just stressing us out.

We’re getting married at a local upscale restaurant that has indoor and outdoor capacity so our wedding will take place outside on the patio and then we’ll have a sit down dinner inside.

I’m grateful to have Ali-Shaun as my matron of honor and she has been a HUGE help with all of the planning. She has a special gift for bringing people together and planning events.

Even with keeping things simple, there is still quite the checklist of things to do and I feel pretty good about everything we’ve gotten done so far:

• Booked venue
• Confirmed wedding party
• Sent Save-the-Date
• Sent invitations
• Confirmed guests
• Finalized seating arrangment
• Ordered wedding dress & went for first alterations
• Confirmed wedding party attire
• Bought James’ suit, dress shirt and shoes (still need tie)
• Ordered Elliott’s wedding ring
• Confirm hair and makeup
• Got gifts for Matron of Honor & Bachelorette party
• Confirmed florist
• Booked bachelorette party!
• Booked honeymoon!

A few main things we still need to do are: 

• Find outfits for Abbi and Jordan
• Book hotel block for wedding day & out-of-town guests
• Meet with the venue to finalize menu
• Confirm photographer
• Meet with officiant
• Confirm quartet for ceremony
• Choose music
• Finalize floral arrangements & table decor
• Obtain wedding license 
• Gift for Elliott’s best man & our officiant
• Bachelor party

And then there are more details when we are one month out.

October 2026 (4–6 Weeks Out)

• Final dress fitting.
• Obtain marriage license (in Texas, the license is valid for 90 days, so anytime from mid-August onward works, but many couples do this 2–4 weeks before).
• Write wedding day letter
• Finalize day-of timeline and share with wedding party and vendors.

Late October – Early November 2026 (1–2 Weeks Out)

• Finalize logistics for out of town guests pre-wedding
• Final headcount to venue and confirm catering/bar details.
• Prepare final vendor payments, tips, and envelopes.
• Confirm honeymoon reservations.
• Assemble emergency kit (sewing kit, stain remover, pain reliever, extra bobby pins, etc.).

Week of November 7, 2026

• Rehearsal and rehearsal dinner – November 6
• Deliver final items to venue
• Confirm timeline with wedding party (hair/makeup call times, photo times, ceremony start).
• Relax and enjoy the day!

I realized I need to start my wedding cut now! When I went for my dress fitting last weekend, the alterations lady said she wanted to alter my dress to my current body, not what I think I’ll be at in November. Oops! So, I go back in 4 weeks to refit for alterations!

HONEYMOON

Another exciting thing is that we finally booked our honeymoon! Man, there was a lot of time effort and research that went into this trip. There are so many destinations we want to visit – Greece being at the top of my list, but I know November isn’t ideal for that place.

Other destinations are too far away for the time we have, so we really looked and looked and Elliott especially put hours of time into finding a great place for us. We went back and forth many times weighing the pros and cons of a resort, all-inclusive or not, and AirBNBs.

Then Elliott remembered the Pardisius property, which he’s stayed at before and found they had a resort in Los Cabos.

The Pardisius Los Cabos is a luxury, all-inclusive, adults-only beachfront resort. It’s roughly 15 minutes away from both San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.

Based on our vacations in the past, Elliott and I know that we like to relax and unwind, but also like to go out and about exploring.  I think this honeymoon will give us the best of both of those worlds.

BACHELORETTE WEEKEND

My girlfriends have planned a bachelorette weekend out of town and I am so looking forward to it! They sent me the itinerary and it just looks like the perfect weekend with my girls.

The first night I’m supposed to wear white and tried on two things, plus ordered a few more that haven’t arrived yet.

I thought this silky romper had potential, but it looked better on the website. It fits TTS, I’m wearing size Small.

I also ordered the White Silky Dress which is similar in style.

This strapless bubble dress is playful and it has pockets. It felt like it would stay up securely because the back is smocked.

It’s taken many years and a lot of work to be in this healthy place. I’m so grateful to have found a loving and supportive partner, one who communicates with me and is willing to be vulnerable and talk about hard things.  This is truly the kind of man and relationship I’ve been prayed for and been intentional about wanting. I’m always praying that I’m the wife my husband needs too.

Bibles

Speaking of praying, both of us got new bibles recently, so I wanted to share that here too if you’re interested. You might remember that Elliott got me a personalized bible for my birthday, and I love so much about it – the journaling page style being among one of the best features, with a leather cover, 10-point font and NAS translation.

The problem is, at nearly 3 pounds, it’s just too heavy.

So, I searched and searched and finally found a great, more petite bible and I’m loving it! It’s 10 point-font, ESV version and very lightweight.

And I ordered these tabs for easy reference.

Elliott really liked his 12-point font bible, but wanted to use the exact translation that our pastor uses, the Christian Standard Bible, so that’s what he got.

I know Bibles are very personal and unique to the user, but hopefully this helps if you want to invest in one for yourself.

Avara has so many cute, early fall styles. I love this 3/4 sleeve blouse with the pretty brown and creamy stripes. I like that it’s a little more casual with no collar. I left it untucked, but you can also do a little front tuck.

I was so excited for these grommet detailed jeans because they’re just so cute with those details. Sadly they’re just too big. I got my true size 25, but would recommend sizing down.

I do really like this sleeveless sweater. It’s giving me collegiate vibes, nice and polished and can be bloused under if you want that longer leg line. Love this for layering and the deep red for fall.

These jeans definitely surprised me! They’re actually from Target, and fit and flatter so well in a polished finish. I’m wearing a size 2, so maybe go up one size. I also see they’re on sale for $21!

I’m really loving this sports bra top too! It’s a square neckline, removable padded cups and a little cropped. I think with leggings it wouldn’t be belly baring at all, plus I adore this blue.

I’ve been loving the layered activewear look. This set comes in so many colors, I think it’s part of a collegiate collection.

The sports bra is a 2-in-1, but all the straps are adjustable which is amazing! The leggings are just a fold over style giving you almost a ruching effect. They’re a little long on me, but I’m 5’1″.
