That's some strong feeling right? Oh well, it's hatred well deserved!

Taylor Momsen a.k.a, Jenny "d wannabe bitch" Humphrey has been notoriously famous for her foul mouthed rants, eew-ish gothic wardrobe, boobie flashing and what not! She got my vengeful attention when she entered "Gossip Girl".

But that was not the final cord struck. She did it for me when she bitched about Rihanna! For that, I hope you Burn in Hell. All her attention grabbing techniques have got her nowhere! She only continues to gross US out(and by US i mean people who think on the same terms as i do and not by the one's who actually happen to like her).

Now she complains, she is all this because of her parents? I mean, SERIOUSLY? Cry me a river girl but if you cannot handle the fame, mebbe you should get off the train!

Miss World 2010 Pageant in Sanya, People's Republic of "MY" China

Well, well, well !!!

Look who hosted the Miss World pageant this year and made our China proud..none other our tropical beauty..Sanya! The competition is one of the oldest in the beauty pageant league. This year's Miss World 2010 crown went to the gorgeous 18 year old, Alexandra Mills from USA. The finalists were :

USA, China (*blush_BLUSH*), Botswana, Ireland and Venezuela with Miss Botswana, Emma Wareus finishing in the 2nd place and Miss Venezuela, Adriana Vasini finishing 3rd.

The contestants had a rich experience during their stay in China, exploring the rich culture, visiting our special places and bagging the best discount in the sales during shopping. I had my moment when I was watching Miss Kenya winning her "Beauty with Purpose" crown. What she did was beyond speech!

Treating jigger worm epidemic is not something you and me can do, it needs guts. I would not have believed there exists such a gruesome disease on this planet. So I take a pledge to do my bit. What about you my fellow Hong Kongers?

It is not always Shine n Glitter, we need to clean d mess by getting into the Gutter!

Angelababy and Xio Ming Break Up : Rumor Has It ! ;)

This is not the first time we are seeing the on-screen passion shared off-screen! Also, this is not the first time we were witnessing a love triangle. This time our star cast consists of : Angelababy, Huang Xio Ming and William Chan Wai Ting.

William plays the role of the dud.e who gets dumped by Angelababy. Angelababy and Ming started dating at the end of 2009 when she ended her four year relationship with Ming. She couldn't stop flaunting about it.

Now that 2010 comes to an end, we hear the rumors that the oh-so-passionate couple are splitting apart? Why-o-Why? Rumor has it that the heated romance ended up with..Read On, Read On... Evidently so, Angelababy was being dumped by Xio Ming under boredom clauses.

I don't want to say it, but Angel'a'Baby? What Goes Around Comes Back Around!! Some also call it as "Karma is a Bitch" !! I desperately want this rumor to hold false because I am not much of a lover of hatred and definitely do not want to hear about one more! Looks like break up-season is ON!!

Bruce Lee’s Co-star Shih Kien Dies

On June 5th, the Hong Kong Entertainment industry lost a gem of a star, a true talent, one of a kind! I’m talking about the sad demise of Veteran actor Shih Kien at the age of 96. He died on Wednesday at a Hong Kong hospital with his children by his side. He is reported to have died of kidney failure.I’m sure he had a life truly worth living. However, no matter how old a person gets, we keep wishing for his long life. Sigh!

The Hong Kong secretary for commerce and economic development said that the city has lost "an outstanding performing arts talent".

Shih made his entry into the Hong Kong Entertainment industry way back in 1940 and went on to star in 350 films! Shih also made more than 80 pictures about Chinese folk hero Wong Fei-hong.

In his 50-year career, Kien worked with some of Hong Kong's most well-known actors, including Chow Yun Fat and even Bruce Lee. When he was cast in the movie “Enter the Dragon”, with Bruce Lee, he did not even know English. He simply mouthed the lines. Could you make out? No Way! That requires talent. We mourn the death of this legendary actor with prayers of peace for his soul.

Cats musical at Hong Kong: A Rendition worth the Addiction!

Whoopie! The spectacular masterpiece of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Winner of musicals (and obviously hearts)..hold on…THE CATS are here in Hong Kong! Having set historical run records and won the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony Award for the best musical, they are here to create another aural sensation at Hong Kong Lyric Theatre, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

You surely do not want to miss the legendary composer’s music. Did I mention there’s going to be a performance on the poignant hit song, Memory? Well, we do have memories of ‘Memory’ being the most popular performance with a record of 8,949 performances in London alone!

Actresses Elaine Paige and Betty Buckley became particularly associated with the musical. CATS have played for 21 years, over twenty-six countries, in about three hundred cities, in ten languages. They sure did globalize din’t they?

I have gone to witness some beautiful performances. Awesome set, psychedelic costumes, great make-up, superb lightings, choreography… all in all...a you-got-to-be-there event!65 million people have already seen it..and trust me if you’d ask them, they’d not just nod their head..they’d roar in appraisal of the brilliant musicals.

For all those who din’t get the tickets to see the feral positions in perfect musical harmony, well, I can only hope you can see it when its released on VHS and DVD or broadcasted on TV. Till then, let me feel lucky! Hehe!

Hong Kong Candle Light Vigil- Tiananmen Square massacre lingers in the hearts

June 4th marks a sad day for Hong Kong. It exposed the government to a large extent, showcasing corruption as the parasite eating its way into our economy. On the night of June 3 and the early morning of June 4, 1989, the Chinese military was sent to disperse people who gathered at Beijing’s central square for five weeks, raising a hand towards democratic reform.

It’s a day to commemorate that we stood up for what’s right although the Chinese government wants to write off the memory of the day from people’s minds. It was obviously a day of shame for them. However, according to the polls, Hong Kongers still oppose China’s verdict. For 1989, the death toll varies between 200 to 1000 ( according to the U.S Embassy). Tiananmen Mothers, a Beijing-based group of family members of the victims, had verified 195 deaths.

Although China has upped its score by showing remarkable socio-economic development and Hong Kong has become a semi-autonomous region of China having its independent legal system and constitution, the very fact that the candle-light vigil is being opposed by the Chinese government, shows that it is not fully confident with its verdict. It shows that they have faltered and yet want to draw a façade on it. But there shall always be the voice of Hong Kong echoing in the face of Beijing’s oppression. So long, Hail Hong Kong!

Christie’s Art Auction- Successful at Hong Kong

During it’s spring sales in Hong Kong, Christie’s Fine Wine Auction house sold a staggering $137 million worth of Asian art! These anomalistic sales figures lift up the sentiment in the Asia Art market..clearly!

Christie’s pre-sales estimate was $97 million for a four day sale in Hong Kong. The conservative valuations helped drum up demand.

Eighty percent of the 1,600 lots were sold for a total of HK$1.07 billion ($138 million). In the fall sale, 70 percent of the lots sold to half-empty auction halls. People….where did you get all that money. Personal note: I need to auction stuff too!

The spotlight of the auction series was the sale of more established categories of Chinese art, including imperial Chinese ceramics, which had the highest bids. I’m telling you..our culture seems to rock. Let’s hold onto it..dearly!

A pair of gilt-bronze "dragon" ritual bells from the Kangxi reign got the record of selling for a whopping HK$45.4 million ($5.86 million). Other top lots included a Qing dynasty Amphora-form vase that sold for $3.8 million and a "Tianqiuping" celadon-glazed vase that fetched $3.4 million.

Christie's CEO Edward Dolman says there’s a palpable sense of optimism with the success of this year’s sales for Chinese art. Christie holds biannual Asian art auctions which are seen as a barometer for the market.

The works of a batch of emerging, more cheaply priced, Asian artists have set new auction highs and that’s the reason why the Asian art auctions haven’t been performing too well. But with this auction performing better than expected, it is quite a ray of hope for Asian art.

Coco Avant Chanel in Hong Kong - A Biopic on Coco Chanel’s life

Come June 11th and you will know the real Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Guess we are a privileged lot considering the movie is due for release in Hong Kong first ( in the U.S the movie is due for release at the end of the year..so yea..feel important ! )Forget the fashion icon, forget the diva she is, she wants to portray her real self ( which according to me isn’t different! ). Her movie is due for release in Hong Kong on the day and I’m sure there’ll be eyeball grabbing audience..fashionistas or just people who adore Chanel.

The biographical movie is called as “Coco Avant Chanel”. It’s already released in France. The role of Chanel is being played by Audrey Tautou and the movie pulls out archives of the French designer’s life showing her childhood and slowly growing up to revolutionize fashion and how she bloomed in the true sense of the word. There’s going to be the scene of Chanel’s very first runway show.

The movie’s costume designer, Catherine Leterrier teamed up with Karl Lagerfeld to show audiences how Coco’s style completely stood out with that oomph factor, in comparison to other ladies of her time.

Coco Avant Chanel is partly based on Edmonde Charles-Roux's book, L'Irrégulière: Ou, Mon Itinéraire Chanel and Anne Fontaine, is directing the movie. The film will not attempt to tell the entire life story of Chanel, probably because it would be impossible to contain that much fabulousness in one film. Instead, Fontaine’s focal points would be Chanel’s youth. What’s a biopic without some spice eh? I’m sure you guys will get to have a fair share of that by watching Chanel as a cabaret singer and some of her amourous relations with the influential men who helped her enter the glamour world of fashion. From there begins her struggle and she ends up being one of the household names in the fashion industry. With her style and poise, Audrey Tautou is quite a doppelganger of Chanel.

I’m like so looking forward to this movie to up my fashion quotient and curiosity kills me to know the primma donna of fashion came, saw and truly conquered!

Hong Kong Red Bull Tests- Traces of Cocaine !!

Recent tests which were being conducted in Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety showed traces of cocaine in the drink. The traces were minimal which would be from 0.1 to 0.3 micrograms of illegal drug per litre standards. But still its cocaine, ainnit?

This was a study done by the Hong Kong officials few days after 18,000 cases were being confiscated in relation to the Red Bull drink by the Taiwanese authorities. These tiny amounts of the drug were found in the drinks "Red Bull Cola", "Red Bull Sugar-Free","Red Bull Energy Drink". Although the amount of the cocaine in the drink is under the danger limit but the excessive consumption of the drink could be a little dangerous to health.

Although the independent tests being done by the Red Bull officials showed no such results and have asked Hong Kong authorities to recognize their error and take it all back.

Red Bull Authorities to believe or Hong Kong Authorities? To Drink or not to Drink? Only Time will tell the real story. But for me, Red Bull is on a halt for now ;)

Hong Kong City - Most Spammed City of the World

Spam Spam Spam!

What is going on in this city? The city of Hong Kong has been tagged "most spammed city of the world". I don't know whether to be proud that we rank among the TOP for something, but what do i do when the something is really HUMILIATING?

So according to the Intelligence Report by MessageLabs, the spam levels in Hong Kong were noted to have rose by 2.4 % in May. It is now 92.3 per cent making HK the most spammed country in the world. Next to it, in line is the China for the Asia Pacific with about 91.1 per cent and Malaysia bagging the third prize with 89 per cent.

The global ratio was recorded to be 90.4 percent which would mean one in ever 1.11 emails would turn out to be a spammer!
The reasons for such high spam rate for the country could be plenty. Could be the excessive computers- the network, the economy, the sales and the marketing efforts for their promotional tactics, plenty as i said!

Sneaked into Hong Kong- Swine Flu

Yes, you must’ve heard it already. Spine Flu is no more a virgin word. It’s caused by spine influenza virus that usually affects pigs. However, the new swine flu having prospective ecumenical affects is a new strain of virus, H1N1 strain, A type, containing genes of the swine influenza.

News is spreading like wild fire with warning that the swine flu can be transmitted via aerial droplets, for example when sneezing, or via saliva or feces. Clinical symptoms generally seen are: fever, widespread pain, fatigue, nose catarrh and cough.

There have been cases in Mexico reported to have human-to-human transmission. Although many countries have been controlling airplanes to stop the virus from turning into an epidemic, there was a 25 year old man tested positive in Hong Kong recently.

Although it was said that the virus might not touch Asia, Hong Kong has gone frantic with its attempts to isolate the person affected and give him appropriate treatment. They have actually tried tracking down every person who possibly had contact with the man while his travel from Mexico via Shanghai.

There were two taxi drivers who assisted the Mexican and if they are infected and they don’t appear, there shall be bad consequences. It’s a critical time in Hong Kong.

The attendants in the hotels where the Mexican was staying were quarantined for seven days. It is however an international joke that the Metropark hotel has been locked up even though most people in the hotel have not even contacted with the infected man and overseas tourist are under vigilance for seven days.

China is soon to suspend all flights from Mexico to avoid further prospective infects. These frenetic preventive steps are because they’ve been through a painful epidemic with painful nostalgia carrying it, the SARS breakout which had taken away many innocent lives in its vicious circle.
Gearing up to fight the disease with facial masks in restaurants and on public transport, the spirit of the city hasn’t dampened as it hasn’t canceled any concerts and shows that are scheduled to happen in Hong Kong. Prevention is surely better than cure, but there isn’t any harm having fun while prevention. Don’t you think?

Story behind Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival !!

So do you want to listen to a story? I have got a story for you.

The story of a legend who sacrificed himself in the order to protest against the blemished government and the day by day increasing corruption- The story of Qu Yuan.

Qu Yuan also known as Ch'u Yuen was among the highly regarded ministers in one of the Warring State Governments of that time. The fellow ministers just as deformed and grease palmed as the King himself, saw the potential behind Qu Yuan and convinced the foolish king to banish Qu. Jealousy did its job very well. The most loyal counsellor was sent to exile.

But Qu Yuan's heroics did not go wasted. During that period of exile he produced some of the best poetry of Chinese Literature. The poetry shows what you know? His profuse love for the state and its future which he saw was in doldrums. The stockpile of these beautiful odes are known as Chuchi. Chuchi is the Songs of South.

Well, that was about his time in exile. But it had to end. He heard about the havoc that was in line for his state. There was going to be an invasion from the neighboring state which was Qin. He wanted to demonstrate his love for the state and the anguish for the ever-increasing corruption and pleading people to stop what they can!

Qu Yuan waded into the Miluo River and committed suicide. When the localites heard the news they tried their best to save Qu, their hero. They hurried with their boats into the river in desperate urge to save him. They tried every possible measure to save Qu which they can. Beating drums and splashing water with their paddles they were hoping the spirit of Qu Yuan stays alive. This was their attempt to keep the fishes and the evil spunk away from the body of Qu Yuan.

For the people he was still alive. Foolish as it might sound, they scattered rice into water. You want to know why? To keep hunger away from him. I think its CUTE! But there other epic stories revolving against this which scattering of rice was for the fishes so that they stay away from the gobbling away the body of Qu Yuan. Nobody knows how far their attempts succeeded but did you ever heard of "It's the thought that counts" ? Yes! That is what it is all about.

So yes, this was the story of Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival. People have these races annually. But you know the funny thing is, if a person is drowned during this festival it is considered to be good luck? I dont have to tell you why after you have read the entire fable, do I now?

How the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated is with teams participating from across the globe with each team consisting of 20 paddlers who would row the boat. The boat is decorated in the form of a dragon with a proper head and a tail. The tradionality Hong Kong comes into life every moment of the event. At the side of the boat is huge drum which symbolizes the heartbeat of the dragon and is used in order to have a synchronized stroke movement of the boat-paddlers.

Its merrymaking all the way. I am so charmed by this city of mine I tell you, it would always have something or the other going on for you. Dont sit back these two days! Oh, did I forget to tell you the details of the event? Sorrrry, Here they are!

Date- 30 - 31st May 2009

Time- 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Venue- Shing Mun River, HKDBA Training Centre, On King Street, Shek Mun, Sha Tin, New Territories

An event which was much awaited and much celebrated should not be forgotten. I have talked a lot about this Annual Film award and the glitz n glamour it, in the past. But the follow up was awaiting since a long time. So here it is.

The results for the Best Actor, Actress, Direction, Movie and various other nominations of the 28th Hong Kong Annual Film Award Ceremony which was held on 19th of April at the HKG Cultural Center. "Magnificent" would be describing the entire event in a single word. The event was hosted by best of the best of the industry which included- Eric Tsang, Wong Cho Lam, Lam Chi Chung, Kay Tse, Chin Kar Lok, Tin Kai Man, Denise Ho, Fan Siu-Wong, Vincent Kok, Michelle Lo, Sandra Ng and Teresa Mo.

A short statistical summary would show us that,

Historical war movie by John Woo, "Red Cliff" grabbed the most awards which was 5 in number with Best Art Direction, Best Sound Effect, Best Visual Effect, Best Original Film Score and Best Costume & Makeup Design to their credit.

Coming right next to them in the line for the "most" was Ann Hui's drama "The Way We Are" which bagged up 4 awards which included the prestigious Best Director, Best Actress and Supporting Actress along with the Best Screenplay award.

Splendor, glamour, vintage opulence, richese..Yes Yes! All these were there, just as guarenteed! And for the winners? Kudos!!

Kelly Clarkson Live in Hong Kong- Setting the Stage Ablaze!!!

Miss Independent singing My Life would Suck without you!

LOL! That is the variation Kelly Clarkson brings with her and now folks she is bringing it down to Hong Kong!

For the first time ever performing in the city of Hong Kong for the promotion of her latest US Billboard #! album "ALL I EVER WANTED", is Kelly for Hong Kongers! She would be performing live between the dates of 24-28th May 2009.

During this cut-to-the-bone stay of hers there isn't one yawn moment for any of us or for her as a matter of fact. A peep into her Hong Kong Agenda gave me this:

* Kelly is meeting up with a lot of people! Which would be the press and media from across the Asia! Buck up, gang! Buck up!

* Ohh! There is a "All I Ever Wanted is Kelly Clarkson Unplugged" session at the MO Bar by the way. MO BAR? Annie Lennox? (Yes, yes the same MO Bar at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental but this time it is Monday, 25th May)

* In her time off, Kelly "amazing" Clarkson is meeting her fans in person! Wait..did i get that right? YES, YES IN PERSON, on 27th May during an autograph session held at the Central Building HMV in Central

About Kelly, 2-time Grammy Award Winner, American Idol 2002 and four albums already to her credit to date, there is absolutely nothing stopping this diva!With eight of her singles hitting the Top Ten on the Billboard Hot 100, Kelly seems to be knowing which way is her way!

And about this row of events? I must say! Everybody seems to be noticing HK as "the hub for all the punk and fun" these days. Prove me wrong and I would shut up forever! Hah! Like both of them are ever going to happen! Not in this lifetime, NO! ;)

Coldplay Hong Kong Concert 2009 - Videos Aired !!

So the other day while i was dilly dallying at home and watching VH1 guess what was running then? Ahh well, I wont keep you guessing too long. It was the Coldplay performing in the city of Hong Kong.

I would rather stop thinking before the nostalgia hits me too hard. Wasnt it a real treat, Hong Kong? Then I was wondering what about those who missed out on the opportunity to attend this electrifying band performing live.

Dont be too disappointed! Our virtual friends on web will not let you be gloomy anymore. There have been videos uploaded online on Youtube and various other broadcasting mediums on web.

I know it would make up to nothing of what we witnessed that night, but it sure can be of some help. So have a look for yourself. And in case you think the its not too clear? Well too bad, you just have to keep watching VH1 World Stage for the repeat telecast (Hopeless, I know!)

One hell of a opening that was! Lucky ME! Tsk, Tsk (I Hope I live long enough to nourish this moment and witness many such)

One thing is for sure. The video does not guarantee you all the fun and the celebration of the night of 25th March 2009 that Viva La Vida had for us but it would surely tell you what did you miss out in life and what should you do next time not to miss out on all the fun. (Pun Intended ;)

Creative Endeavors- Hong Kong International Art Fair

Hong Kong seems to have left no stone unturned when it comes to showcasing talents. What now? Well, Hong Kong has presented an unprecedented opportunity to envisage some great art work created by not just global art maestros but even the modern day fresh talented artists.

This event took place from 14th – 17th May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. I could not but gawk at the breathtaking masterpieces of some artists. This exhibition has been branded as one of the most leading fairs in Asia..well..I am glad I was a witness to it!

Now you might be wondering how Hong Kong is so keen to host such a fair? For my fellow Hong Kong folks, Hong Kong is the world's third most important auction hub for Asian artwork. Diffused from over 110 galleries from 24 countries, this art fair did seem to be a pure amalgamation of cultures from the east and the west and we served as the cultural capital for it!

There was new section named SCMP Art Futures where fresh talents showcased their art. The fair was a pure enticement for the art dealers, including New York's Gagosian Gallery and London's White Cube. Looking from a connoisseur’s eye, some noteworthy works were "walking" minimalist LED nude sculptures by Julian Opie; raw, whorled, wood carvings by David Nash; lurid Chinese contemporary oil paintings by the likes of Yang Shaobin, haunting plastic dolls by Korea's Jin Young Yu, and a silver sculpture by Damien Hirst. They were some sales made at whopping amounts as well!

Well, this event has acted like a catalyst to get out my creative side. While I get into acrylic illusions, I hope you have your eyes eager to know what’s the next wow thing happening in Hong Kong. Until then, Baai Baai!
