China is planning to revise its “Golden Week” national holiday scheme by  reducing three 3 annual Golden Weeks to 2 annual Golden Weeks. May Golden Week would be abolished,  leaving only 1 day holiday for 1st May and replaced by adding 3 separate chinese festive holidays namely, Ching-Ming Festival (Tomb Sweeping Day), Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. According to chinese authority, they predict such change would bring positive impact on Hong Kong in the short to medium run. There would be over 100 million outbound visits per year from Mainland China by 2015, about 40% are predicted to be Hong Kong bound.

他 又 提 到 ， 在 會 上 有 建 議 內 地 批 准 香 港 與 澳 門 實 施 一 份 證 件 兩 地 通 行 ， 希 望 吸 引 旅 客 到 澳 門 旅 遊 同 時 ， 亦 會 到 香 港 旅 遊 ， 國 家 旅 遊 局 回 應 說 ， 會 以 務 實 和 積 極 的 態 度 去 研 究 。

政府認同要擴建迪士尼樂園

香港迪士尼樂園入場人數，連續兩年不達標，迪士尼集團表示，為改善樂園財政情況，決定提早在未來一年，全數歸還一筆二億九千三百萬美元的貸款；未來數年，亦會暫停向香港迪士尼收取專利權使用費。

旅遊事務署表示,一直關注樂園的營運及表現,迪士尼已應港府要求,暫時豁免樂園管理費及專利權費用,政府亦認同要擴建樂園,以吸引更多遊客,政府會與迪士尼，商討有關擴建的計劃，包括財務安排。

Creditors of the struggling Hong Kong Disneyland joint venture agreed to suspend the debt covenants of a $293 million commercial loan for a year and give owners Disney and the government of Hong Kong access to funds that had been frozen, Chief Financial Officer Tom Staggs said.

In exchange, the joint venture will repay the loan by Sept. 30, 2008, and Disney will forgo royalties from the park for “a couple of years,” Staggs said on a conference call.

Hong Kong Disneyland, which opened in 2005, missed its first-year attendance target of 5.6 million by nearly 10 percent and has not released second-year totals.

Hong Kong’s commerce secretary, Frederick Ma, told the Standard newspaper this week that the government was now reconsidering its approach and may inject new funds to expand the park. But commerce officials declined comment.

“The agreement with the creditors is a good thing,” said a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Tourism Board. “We hope the park and its management will be able to develop a more concrete plan to attract more visitors.”

如果只是讓海洋公園落實55.5億港幣發展計劃,那只是一場獨腳戲, 對香港面對區內和其它地方的競爭,沒有策畧周詳的實質意義, 正所謂[獨腳烏鴉難揾食].

增加香港吸引力,最佳辦法是增加景點, 讓香港迪士尼樂園和香港海洋公園一起擴充發展是相附相成, 有如香港和澳門一樣, 有競爭(才有進步),也有優勢互補.

真想知道第2期的樂園會是甚麽主題? 香港迪士尼海洋? 或香港廸士尼片場?

Frederick Ma, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development told reporters that HK Government is going to give the preliminary green light for HKDL’s expansion.

But the funding would have to be approved by Hong Kong Legislative Council. He expects legislators would do the right thing for Hong Kong. He also says that it is for the best interest of Hong Kong as well as Hongkongers that HK government should inject capital for further expansion at Hong Kong Disneyland.

Regarding Phase 2 expansion, that is the 2nd park at the Resort would be different in theming than the 1st Park (that is Hong Kong Disneyland), and it will be decided later on.

開幕兩年的香港迪士尼樂園，入場人數有每況愈下趨勢，公眾普遍將問題歸咎「樂園真細小」，盡快展開第二期 擴建可算主流共識，最具爭議反而是融資安排。商務及經濟發展局局長馬時亨接受本報專訪時，首次為港府注資興建迪士尼第二期「開綠燈」，坦言「如果認為擴建 方向正確，仍希望這個公園是香港人擁有，政府是大股東，就要資注。」

「不過我都是支持要擴建，不是因為面積大細的問題，而是為了爭取『回頭客』。」馬時亨指出，現時無論市 民、遊客和迪士尼都覺有必要加快擴建樂園，但他強調，擴建只是為向區內旅客提供新鮮感，以新設施吸引他們再次入場，而非當年起得太細。「我自己覺得（政府 當年）策略無錯，你見政府一早已計畫了擴建，旁邊已預留土地……無可能一起就起個好大的。」

對於迪士尼遲遲未加快擴建，馬時亨相信與資金周轉無關。而政府作為迪士尼大股東，為維持現有較大控制權， 若果最終決定擴建，政府難免要向迪士尼注資，亦為「無得選擇」的做法，「如果再擴建，大家認同方向正確的話，（政府）都要注資。如果我們不注資，股權就會 被迪士尼攤薄，這個也不是我們今日想見到的。我們到今日仍希望，這個公園是香港人擁有，我們是大股東。」至於涉及的注資額，他表示一切仍有待財務顧問研 究。他又指，以美國和日本迪士尼為例，擴建第二個迪士尼樂園，主題會稍有不同，例如日本興建了迪士尼海洋。而本港迪士尼第二期的主題，亦留待日後決定。

More money for mickey

Mickey Mouse and his mates at Hong Kong Disneyland look set for another massive cash handout – courtesy of the taxpayer.

The Standard has learned that the government has softened its stance on the theme park’s second-phase expansion.

It is considering providing a lifeline to the theme park, where visitor numbers and sales have fallen short of projections.

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Frederick Ma Si- hang told The Standard the government would be inclined to inject funds for expansion so that it could continue to be a drawcard for visitors.

“I don’t want to hear visitors saying they are seeing the same things they saw last year and lose interest in Disneyland,” Ma said.

But he would not say how much capital the government would commit.

This is the first time the government has indicated its willingness to support the theme park, which Disney has stated may require extra financing.

Ma said the people of Hong Kong have complained that “Disneyland is small.”

He said no one will disagree it needs to expanded and that the government should inject funds in that event.

The park belongs to the people of Hong Kong as the government holds a 57 percent stake, Ma said. The government has invested HK$25 billion.

“I think nobody would like to see our stake being diluted, Ma said, adding he remained confident lawmakers will approve additional financing.

Disney eyeing theme park site in Malaysia

Walt Disney Co. is looking to build a theme park on a 500-acre (202-hectare) site in southern Malaysia, a business weekly reported on Saturday. Citing unnamed sources, the Edge said the theme park, to be located in Bardar Nusajaya in the Iskandar development zone, would be ready six years after a deal was signed, according to early proposals.

The proposed Disneyland theme park and resort is slated to be bigger than Hong Kong Disneyland and about the size of Tokyo Disney Resort, it said.

The government unveiled a $105 billion blueprint late last year to transform the southern tip of Johor state, which neighbours Singapore, into a regional economic zone for industry, logistics, trade and leisure.

In addition to a rumored Disney Theme Park (not yet confirmed), there would be a $4.7 billion maritime park proposed by Dubai World.

The 2,200 square km (850 sq miles) Iskandar zone has so far clinched at least $6 billion in investments, including a $4.7 billion maritime park proposed by Dubai World and Malaysia’s infrastructure-to-energy group MMC Bhd

傳迪士尼進駐柔南
（吉隆坡3日訊）迪士尼（Disney）主題樂園將登陸我國！

超越港媲美日

財經週刊《The Edge Weekly》引述不具名消息指出，迪士尼計劃在柔佛依斯干達發展特區（IDR）的努莎再也城鎮（Nusajaya），營建佔地500英畝的主題樂園。

消息透露，儘管國庫控股（Khazanah）與迪士尼的洽談進展快速，卻未停止和其他主題樂園營運商洽商，包括華納兄弟（Warner Brothers）和米高梅（MGM）。

“不過，國庫與迪士尼的洽談看似最有希望，特別是后者態度認真，並已具體提出要求。”

消息說，根據稍早前的計劃，一旦成功達成協議，雙方將在明年中簽約，主題樂園料在6年后建竣，規模超越香港迪士尼樂園，媲美日本。

報導指出，迪士尼看中的地點靠近士乃迪沙魯大道及馬新第二通道，鄰近共有數個地主，包括馬友乃德環球
