Fish: The weakest texas holdem image and player. Also the most prevalent, fishes have poor hand selections and will call just about anything (also known as calling stations). This person has very little skill or discipline, investing into too many hands, hoping for a lucky break. Chips are earned mainly from these players. However, fish players enjoy the bluffing element of poker, so don’t be surprised if a fish tries to make a move with nothing or slow-playing by checking the best hand. Basically, a fish is just a bad player. You can’t bluff a bad player. When a fish has some kind of hand and is still in the pot, it’s obvious he’s got something. Play straight forward – no tricks or fancy plays against these players.

Weak-Tight: These players understand the fundamentals of winning at poker and have better hand selection, but with one exception – they’re afraid. They are quite passive and will often check or call rather than bet or raise. They fear losing a pot with an average hand and get bullied around with raises. This texas holdem image may seem easy to bully around, but are capable of trapping you later on.
It’s better to lead with a bet if you’re acting before the weak-tight opponent rather than check. When you bet into a weak-tight player, their common reaction would be just calling or folding. If they fold, great, if they call, they’re probably holding a decent hand, but are afraid to bet or raise at the pot because they’re skeptical they might lose the pot. So making a strong play at the Turn would scare them away.

Maniac: Also known as a loose aggressive holdem player, these players play as many hands as fishes but are inclined to raise and reraise. It’s quite difficult to tell if they are bluffing or not. They
are known to bully players around, but isolating these players by reraising them off guard or having a decent hand will scare them away. Play tight against these opponents and trap these players to knock them out. Play strong hands against these opponents (AK, AQ, KK, etc) or play a hand if you can see the flop for cheap, and if you hit a good hand on the flop, lead off with a bet. The maniac may try to play back and raise, but if you have a considerable hand, then don’t be shy to reraise to make them second think their move.

The Rock: Super tight holdem player who only plays premium hands. They play so few hands, that when they do limp in or call a bet, you’ll know exactly what they have (AA, AJ, KK, etc). Also known as the predictable player. So when a rock raises or calls your bet, you should have alarms flashing in your head that your up against a premium hand.
It’s best to stay out of the way when these players raise preflop. But knowing these players only hold big hands preflop, flops with no aces or face cards can be most profitable for you, knowing your rock opponent didn’t hit, unless they hold high pockets.Try to bet a substantial amount to take the pot down.

Strong-Aggressive: These holdem players are at the top of the pyramid: Strategic and tactically sound players with the ability to adapt and change gears in every game. They have control over the tables and are much more eager to bet at the pot rather than call. They change pace at anytime, making them very unpredictable and feared by their opponents. They have many tools in their arsenal and can be very deceptive. By Steve Larson

I always say there’s no better way to determine whether or not a player is a fish than to bring up rakeback to him in some way. If he knows what rakeback is, chances are he’s not a fish. If he’s never heard of it, he is one. Rakeback is one of those online poker edges that everyone should take full advantage of. If you do not know what rakeback is, you’ve obviously never done any poker reading, at least none of the truly useful kind.

Even though you may not know what rakeback is, you’ve probably already even made use of it. You see, the sign-up bonus that online poker sites offer is a form of rakeback too. Granted, it’s a limited rakeback deal, but it works on the exact same principles as rakeback.

In order to attract player traffic, and in order to keep their players loyal, some poker rooms have come up with the idea of rakeback (or rake rebate). Every online poker room makes its revenue off the poker rake. The poker rake is collected off every single real money pot played at the room’s cash tables. Tournament players pay their dues through the tournament fees. In order to make themselves more attractive to players, some poker rooms decided that it made sense to give up some of that revenue, and to channel it right back to the player. This is what the rake return, rake back or rake rebate is: rake money sent right back to the player.

Rakeback deals are usually offered by affiliate sites called rakeback providers. Sign up through one of these sites to a poker room and you’ll secure a rakeback deal. The industry standard for rake rebate is around 30% (Full Tilt offers 27% and Betfair gives its players 40%), but much more lavish deals can be found too. Some rakeback deals pay as much as 100% or even more. These special rakeback deals are called poker prop deals and yes, those that give players more than 100% basically pay them to play. These prop deals come with some restrictions for the players though. After all, with such a lavish reward, the poker room needs to make certain that it is indeed getting something back from the players.

Why should you sign up for a rakeback deal? With the risk of overstating the obvious: for the huge effortless edge which requires no skill on your part whatsoever. Believe it or not, the second you’re weaned off the play money tables (which I’m quite sure you’re able to dominate effortlessly) a big bad wolf comes into the picture: the poker rake. In real money play, your opponents are not the only ones after your money: the poker rake has similar ambitions. Win or lose, whenever you put money into the pot, you pay some rake. Wouldn’t it be nice to recover some of that money at the end of the month/week? If you do not sign up for rakeback, you won’t recover any of it.

Players who sign up for Full Tilt rakeback for instance, get a 27% rebate. That’s a huge edge over those who have signed up without rakeback. Unfortunately for those guys though, Full Tilt Poker will never turn their accounts into rakeback ones, so basically they’ve missed the bus there, out of sheer ignorance. Always remember, in poker, he who has more information on things than his opponent, holds the advantage. This goes for rakeback too. Keep yourself informed and you will be the master of your own online poker fate.
The main Question was about increasing your rakeback by playing the rush poker tables at Full Tilt. I have seen Many new sites pop up over the net relating to this subject in the past month alone and most comments regarding increased Full Tilt Rakeback while playing Rush Poker are partially right.

It should be made clear that rakeback players might receive more rakeback from full tilt poker when playing Rush Poker and that the amount of rakeback does not change for players regardless if they play Rush Poker or normal Ring Games at Full Tilt Poker as the return is a uniformed 27% which is paid directly by Full Tilt.

What new players should understand and this is what I was refering to, is that when playing Rush Poker, due to the speed of the game it is only reasonable that more rake is accumulated which basically means that winning players have the chance to accumulate rake much faster than what they would normally by playing ring games as long as they can manage to maintain their participation on the rush poker tables.

The easiest way to explain rush poker in detail is to show you a game in action. Therefore I have added to our Poker video of the month in the right hand sidebar a detailed video of just that. I am sure you like it. Enjoy rush poker and I do hope this has answered some of your questions regarding the rush poker rakeback theory. Keep your questions coming!
Some of them are obvious while some of them aren’t so obvious. Rakeback alone can create a nice supplemental income for you if you play enough online poker. With rakeback all you need to do is be able to breakeven as a player in order to guarantee yourself profit each and every month. We’re going to highlight some tips that will help you increase your hourly rakeback and your monthly rakeback payment. Remember that you need to be at least break even to make money from your rakeback so don’t do anything to increase your rakeback that will affect how you play.

* The easiest way to ensure you’re getting the most rakeback value is to find out how your rakeback deal is matching up to other deals. For instance, if you’re receiving 20% rakeback at the moment with your poker room and another poker room is offering 30% then you should obviously be playing with the poker room with the higher rakeback percentage. A lot of rakeback players settle for the deal they have because they don’t want to find a new deal or they’re too lazy to switch poker rooms. 10% can really make a difference so you don’t want to leave that amount of money on the table.

* One way to increase your hourly rakeback is to play more games per hour. Either by multi-tabling or playing at the Rush Poker tables at Full Tilt. A lot of people don’t like to multi-table because they feel it would take away from their game. This isn’t true for most players though. If you think about it, most poker games you end up sitting there 70-80% of the time doing nothing. When you’re not playing hands on one table you should have other tables open. Since most poker rooms calculate rake by the dealt method you’ll earn rake on every hand you’re dealt. If you’re sitting at four tables rather then one you’ll obviously be dealt a lot more hands per hour. As for Rush Poker at Full Tilt, you are instantly moved to another table as soon as you fold your cards and instantly dealt a new hand. This method is a revolutionary new poker format. The ultimate high-speed game, Rush Poker is designed to minimize your wait time between hands and keep you in the action.

* Another way to increase your poker rakeback is by playing at a higher stake, but this isn’t something you want to do automatically. The only time you should move up limits is when you’re actually ready to move up limits. In order to be ready to move up limits you should have data showing consistent profits at your current level. You’ll also need to make sure that your bankroll can allow you to move up limits.

* Many rakeback providers will give their players the chance to compete in monthly promotions and rake races. A rake race is where rakeback players try and earn the most amount of rakeback in a given period of time. The winners of the rake race will earn whatever prizes or money has been designated for the race. You will also be able to play in lots of special tournaments though, including freeroll tournaments and many other types. We Highly suggest you check out all the promotions and rakeback deals on offer at hoodwinkpoker and ensure your getting the best deal possible.

If you watch the video below all will be revealed, it's a video of Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey going at it and setting a new tv cash game record in the Full Tilt Million Dollar cash game.

The action saw Dwan, on the button and holding 7h 6h, create a sizable preflop pot of nearly $50,000 against Ivey who was in the small blind holding Ac 2d. The flop came Jc 3d 5c , giving both Dwan and Ivey gutshot straight draws. Ivey then led out for $35,000 with the wheel and backdoor nut flush draw. Dwan took his time before making the call with his straight draw.

This is where things got interesting, as the 4h fell on the turn. Ivey quickly bumped the pot by $90,000 and Dwan took his time before raising up the action to $232,600. The emotionless Ivey then moved all-in, pushing the pot well past seven figures only to see Dwan insta-call with the nut straight. When the money went in, Ivey was drawing completely dead. The river completed the board with the Jh , leaving Ivey with nothing to do but sit and stew about the way the hand played out.

I didnt count how many times the commentator said "Oh My Gosh" but it did make me laugh!

It is nice when an opponent is playing against you thinking you have one hand when you actually have another. You are forcing your opponent to act incorrectly. An example of deception was used in the previous section where a check on the Turn convinced your opponent to think he had the better hand than you had. Bad players make these mistakes without another player deceiving them. They deceive themselves and will often call you down when they are very unlikely to have the best hand. Against good players who can play more correctly, you will want to vary your play now and then. Play the same hand differently in the same situations if you can do so without giving up much edge. This will make your opponent think twice on future hands. The benefit may not only be on the hand in question, but could extend out to future hands.

Here is a situation:

You are in the big blind and you hold ATs. Everyone folds to the button who is a good player. He raises and the small blind folds. In a situation like this, re-raising or calling is fairly close in value. It is nice to mix up your play by sometimes re-raising and sometimes calling so your opponent will not have a good handle on what you have when you are re-raising him.

Continuing on with the hand, let’s say you simply called his pre-Flop raise.

Your hand: ATs

Flop: A-Q-3 rainbow

You check and he bets. A check-raise may scare off your opponent if he does not have an A, but since you want to also sometimes check-raise when you have KJ and JT (for just a gut shot straight draw), you also need to check-raise sometimes when you do flop an A. When you are check-raising without the A in future hands, your opponent may assume you do have an A and fold if he does not have one himself. If you play a hand like this the same way every time, it will allow the more astute players to put you on a hand too easily. For example, if you always check-raise when you have an A in this spot, but never when you have a straight draw, then your opponent knows he can fold a hand like QJ. On the other hand, if you never check-raise when you have a weak A, but always check-raise with the inside straight draw, then your opponent can feel comfortable calling you down with the same QJ hand. Mixing up your play will put him on the defensive, and he will not be sure exactly what you have. Scenarios like this come up more often in shorthanded games than they do in full games.

When you vary your game, your play may look dumb once in a while. In the above scenario with a flop of A-Q-3, if you had check-raised with KJ and lost the hand while being forced to show it down on the River, it may look like you were gambling it up and taking unnecessary risk. Some observers may even think you are on tilt or playing poorly, and not give you the rightful respect you deserve as a poker player. When this happens, it is best to try to use this to your advantage. Now you should play a bit tighter and semi-bluff less in future hands because the observant opponents are going to be more likely to call given your previous play.

With all that said, it would be wrong to vary your play too much if it means you are giving up too much expectancy on the current hand compared to the possible expectancy you may receive on future hands. Some players will take this idea too far and play wild and crazy just to establish an image of a maniac. They will surely increase their expectancy on future hands when they do get back to playing correctly. However, they may be losing too much on the current hand in order to establish that wild image. A good way to vary your play is to change up in situations where there really is not too much difference how you play. This way you are not losing much edge and yet gain the benefit of making it tough for your opponents to read your hand correctly.Have any questions or feedback? This is a situation where you are not sure your opponent has a worse hand than you or has a better hand than you. If his hand is worse than yours, but you do not show strength by raising him, he may keep betting in the hopes of getting you to fold. However if you do raise when his hand is worse than yours, his hand may be bad enough that he would fold and you lose the possibility of winning additional bets in later rounds. This passive strategy has a little bit of risk to it because if he has a worse hand, he may be able to catch up and hit a 3 or 4 outer. In order for this strategy to work, you have to be playing against a player that is aggressive enough to keep betting when you do not show strength. If you are playing against a calling station or an otherwise weak player, you would not expect him to keep betting on future rounds with bad hands. If you do raise against an aggressive player, you put yourself in the position of a semi-bluff re-raise that you may not be able to call if you raised him with a marginally good hand. On the other hand, if his hand is better than yours, you do not want to raise because he is going to call or raise you back.

Example 1:

You are in a 5-handed game, on the button with A7o and you open-raise. The small blind folds and an aggressive player in the big blind calls.

Your hand: A7o

Flop: A-9-8 rainbow

The aggressive player in the big blind checks and you bet. Then the aggressive player check-raises. Your decision is whether to re-raise or call. If you re-raise, you are giving him the message that you have a pair of A’s (if not better). The aggressive player can check-raise with many hands, including a pair of A’s, a straight draw, a pair of 9's or 8's. He knows that if you do not have an A and raised with two non-Ace high cards, such as KQ, KJ, it will be a tough decision for you to call both a Flop check raise and a Turn bet.

You would prefer that your opponent have an A with a lower kicker. Then you could re-raise on the Flop or raise on the Turn and win more than if you just called him down.

If he has a better hand than yours, such as AK, AQ, AJ, AT or two pair then you will lose more money by being aggressive. If he is on a straight draw and catches it, then your raise will lose you more money in the hand. Basically, if you show aggression after you get check-raised, you may be putting yourself in a situation where you will lose more bets when if he is already ahead or he catches his draw. Not only will you lose more bets when you are the loser, you will also win fewer bets when you are the winner. Compare the following situations:

Situation A: Your opponent is on a straight draw, you call his check-raise on the Flop and you raise him on the Turn.

If he catches the straight, he will bet out on the River. If he does not, he will check on the River, and then fold to your bet. You have shown him that you have a made hand on the River, so he will no longer think about bluffing on the River. So if you raise on the Turn, and he catches on the River, then you will lose 3 bets (2 bets on the Turn and 1 bet on the River). Meanwhile, if he does not catch on the River, then you will win 2 bets (2 on the Turn and none on the River).

Situation B: Your opponent is on a straight draw, you call his check-raise on the Flop and you call him on the Turn.

If he catches the straight, he will bet out on the River. If he does not, he will also bet out on the River because he will think he has a chance of winning the pot with another bet since you have not shown him anymore aggression. So if you just call on the Turn, you lose 2 bets (1 on the Turn and 1 on the River) if he catches his straight. Meanwhile, if he does not catch a straight, then you will win 2 bets (1 on the Turn and 1 on the River).

In Situation A, you lose 3 bets when you lose and win 2 bets when you win. In Situation B, you lose 2 bets when you lose and win 2 bets when you win. This occurs because your opponent is very aggressive and you can count on him to bluff on the River if he does not catch his hand.
This is a very useful tool that every player should take advantage of. Taking notes in live play is useful too, but it is not as necessary because the mind has an easier time with forming opinions about players when there is facial recognition. If you have not played with a particular opponent for several months in a brick and mortar casino, you still stand a good chance of remembering roughly how the player plays. This is more difficult to pick up while playing poker online because there is no facial recognition. It is harder to associate a name with the qualities of the person than it is to associate a face with the qualities of the person. So using the notes tool that is provided by many poker sites should help.

Here are some of the types of notes that you should be taking on your opponents:

How loose or tight do they play pre-Flop?

How loose or tight do they play after the Flop?

How aggressive or passive are they?

Will they bet when it seems like their edge is small or will they check?

Do they check raise often?

Do they semi-bluff raise often or do their raises need to be given a lot of respect to?

Do they often cold call raises in shorthanded games?

Do they three bet from the small blind situation when a late position player open raises or do they just call?

How often do they defend their blinds with hands that do not warrant it?

The answers to these questions are useful to know. If you have taken notes on a player, the next time you encounter the player at the table, you would immediately be able to take a look at your previous notes and have a better idea of how he plays.
You can’t just sit around waiting for Aces or Kings and hope to double up when you do. One of the best and most popular ways for adding chips to your stack is by implementing what’s known as the squeeze play.
A typical squeeze play works like this: an active and aggressive player raises in late position, and he’s called by another player on the button. You’re in the blinds and you have to decide what to do.
There’s no real indication yet that anyone has a particularly strong hand. The aggressive player could be raising with a wide range of hands, and the call from the button could mean a lot of things. He may have a medium strength hand, or he may be pretty weak and just looking to play post-flop with favorable position.
At this point, a big re-raise from the blinds effectively squeezes the original raiser who is between you and the player on the button. Your aggressive re-raise gives you a great chance of taking down the pot right there.
It used to be that good players used the squeeze play occasionally. It was just one of the many tools they used from time to time. But recently, the squeeze play has become extremely popular. Sometimes it seems that pretty much any time there’s a raise and a call, there’s a player in the blinds looking to squeeze.
I prefer to be a little more selective when initiating a squeeze. I like to have a hand that can hit a flop if I run into a decent hand and get called. In my experience, suited connectors are good hands to squeeze with.
I think the squeeze is most effective when you have a tight table image. When you’ve been playing actively and aggressively the other players at the table are less likely to give you credit for a big hand and will call you down.
You can try the squeeze in ring games, but it’s really most effective in tournaments. When players have to fear for their tournament lives, they’re far more likely to fold in marginal situations.
If you haven’t been using the squeeze play, you should try working it into your tournament game. Start out by squeezing selectively and wait for opportunities where the players, cards and your table image give you the best chance of winning the pot.

A rake race is a competition held by poker rooms or rakeback sites to see who can accumulate the most paid rake in a given time period.
In order to beef up their affiliate commission checks, many poker sites or rakeback sites will hold a Rake Race. This keeps a tally of all the players at a poker site and the rake they have paid during the race period. The top players of this competition (note that it does not track wins or losses) typically receive a monetary prize.

Example

Typically, the payout structure of Rake Races depends on the size of their prize pool. A $25K race, for example, might pay out 150 players, with the top rake generator getting 12-15% - usually a round number like $3500. Smaller races in the $2-4K range will pay out far fewer players, likely 10-20.

Rake Race Strategy Guide

If you are going to enter a rake race and make a serious attempt at winning first prize, there are many factors to consider to stop you going nuts (or bankrupt!). Below are a few points to consider:

Multi-Tabling

Some Rake-Races are about playing more hands than anyone else - so multi-tabling is essential in this case. Other Rake-Races simply measure the amount you rake - so you should strive to playas many tables as you possible can handle.

Rake the Cap

If rake is capped at a maximum $3 per hand, playing .05/.10 tables is not optimal as you will seldom reach the cap of $3. Play on tables where you will usually rake the cap if you enter a multi-way pot.

Play on Loose Tables

Loose players play more pots with marginal hands. The more pots there are per hour the more rake is generated. If you can handle playing against loose opponents play on tables with loose players (ideally loose passive, so you can take the pot away from them easily) and see more flops/pots while bleeding the spewmonkeys dry!

Use a HUD/Stats

Ideally you will be playing 6+ tables. Using a stats overlay HUD is a useful way to remind yourself of the tendencies of other players without having to remember everything they have done. As you add more tables this becomes essential as a basis for effective decision making.

Watch the Leaderboard

Keep an eye on the leaderboards if possible, especially if you are winning. If the players closest on your heels log in to play some tables, do likewise to maintain your lead. If you’re not around have some of your poker buddies let you know if your closest opponents are playing (hey, you gotta sleep sometime!)

Don’t Burn-Out, or Stress out

Eat well, sleep well - take regular breaks and keep an eye on your profits. It is quite likely that your hourly profit will dip if you play more tables than you are used to while competing in a rake-race. This is okay, and to be expected. Winning the rake-race should more than compensate you, and give you a nice average hourly winrate - espececially in conjunction with Rakeback.

Get Rakeback

As you will be raking hundreds or thousands of dollars for the poker room, you should strive to get yourself the best rakeback deal possible on the site running the rake race to maximise your profits. Rakeback deals range from 30-70% (on average). Remember: A breakeven player can become a profitable player simply by having a rakeback deal. . We recommend getting a rakeback deal with us: Poker Rakeback Deals.
You are allowed to bluff! In live poker games a professional poker player can quickly learn a persons tells and from there know if he/she is making a bluff. They do this by looking for signs like the voice changing, eyes, playing with chips, betting speed etc and although you probably don’t know your own tell they do.You should also read our article titled protecting yourself from bluffs for more info on this subject.

How about online poker then, this surely eliminates having tells and reads on someone, or is there ways of knowing what your opponent have playing online? Well, the most common views of how your opponents could interpret your actions and behavior are not that difficult to understand. Here is some info about online poker tells

Fast Check – 75% of the experienced online poker players interprets a Fast Check as sign of a weak hand.
Fast Bets and Raise’s – Same 75% thinks that a fast bet or fast raise indicates of a strong hand.
Slow Check – 72% interprets a slow check as a sign of weakness
Slow Raise – 73% interprets a raise after a longer pause as a sign of strong hand

Another thing is the automatic folds, checks and raise buttons which can speed up the game. Players using these are often considered to be predictable since they follow a certain pattern.
Playing online poker is not about looking in your opponent’s eyes but it’s finding and correctly interpreting the actions on the screen. Of course, live poker offers more and easier ways to find tells but they do exist in online poker. We strongly recommend focusing on the games and Never watch TV or talk on the phone when playing online, you could miss something crucial.
Almost 90% of the online poker rooms today such as Full Tilt and PokerStars have advanced statistic features, which allows you to add notes of each player. This is useful and should not be ignored.

TOP TIP: Join a table and look for the various behaviors of the players. When you have learned how your opponents play use that in order to declare your hand being strong/weak and take them down.
This can involve more than just finding known 'fish', and often depends on selecting games which will allow you to play your preferred style.

For players who rely on a rakeback deal bonus for a large amount of their online poker earnings there is another important aspect to consider in table selection,ie choosing tables where your rakeback earn will be considerably higher.

Let's examine the basics of rakeback table selection, first by looking into how to use poker site stats to assess tables - and then looking at getting the balance right between finding profitable tables and maximizing your rakeback payments.

Most of the popular poker sites such as Full Tilt and PokerStars display key information for choosing a table via their lobby view. Stats include the average number of players seeing a flop (expressed as a percentage), and the average pot size. While the number of hands and inclusion of uncalled bets differ between sites, this information gives you a great comparative assessment of the tables available to play at.

The key to deciding which tables are most profitable is the combination of these figures. For example, a table with a low percentage of players and small pot size is likely to be full of 'nut peddlers' waiting for a monster hand before committing. Conversely a loose and aggressive game will have high numbers for both pot size and players to the flop. Between these we have the tight aggressive low players to flop high pot size and the loose but passive high percentage to flop but lower pot size.

Choosing the right table for profits usually involves finding a good fit to your own style. For example if you are aggressive and fearless then a tight table might give you lots of great chances to steal many smaller pots. If you prefer a tight style then choosing the loose / crazy table and waiting to pounce could be ideal for you.

But what about rakeback players who want to maximize their earnings - for example while multi-tabling? Here we need to find the tables where the pot size is large enough to generate the maximum rake, yet the play exploitable enough for a solid multi-tabling style to keep us in profit.

Here the best candidate may well be the loose / passive table, which features high percentage of players to the flop, but lower pot size. While this can seem counter-intuitive (since high pot sizes generate more rakeback), the sheer number of pots being raked compared to other tables will quickly add to your rakeback earnings. Add to the fact that these tables are easy to exploit with a solid multi-tabling style, value betting and implied odds plays both being ideally suited to this environment.

Of course, there is more to table selection than just the statistics. Keeping a close eye on changes to the table dynamic and knowing when it is time to leave the table is a key aspect. Another is the location of your seat in relation to any particularly aggressive and / or solid opponents. Once again this depends largely on your personal style of play, however it should be clear that having an opponent opening every pot immediately to your right could require some adjustments. Ensure you choose the best tables available - and watch your rakeback earnings increase!

If you are playing poker without a poker rakeback deal, just sign up with a poker rakeback offer from hoodwinkpoker.com. This could be the key factor that makes you a winning poker player in the long run.
It's somehow thought out in a way that low limit players will never really see a reasonable benefit in signing up for a rakeback deal. This is Absolutely wrong.

Read on, I'll show you why you should never play one hand in any online poker room without being on the receiving end of some kind of rakeback deal.

I assume you're aware of the fact that whenever you play at an online poker table, you play against other players and not against the house. All right. You also know that the house needs to make money somehow, otherwise they'd just quit and move on to something else. They make their money through the rake.

The rake is a fixed percentage of every pot that the house takes before it goes into the winner's stack. It is usually 5% with a max of $3.

Every player with an equity in a certain pot pays part of the rake, not only the winner, as another popular misconception preaches. You put money into the pot, you added to the rake. The reason is that the pot is an independent entity. It doesn't actually belong to the winner, until the moment the chips are pushed over to him, thus the money that the house takes, is not the winner's money but every player's who had equity in the pot.
This means that the rake will influence your game, no matter what limit you play at, and you'll have to take it into account if you ever intend to become a profitable player. The rake is going to make your task more difficult.

Let's see a few examples of pots being raked, so that you gain a better understanding of why high-limit players are not the ones who benefit most from a rake rebate deal. If you play a table where the pot is $10, the rake will amount to $0,5 (again, paid by all active players) that is not much, but in the long run, it'll have a hard impact on your winnings.

Let's now suppose that the pot is $60. 5% of 60 is 3. Three is also the max limit of the rake the room will take. If you play at this limit, this is where you'll pay the most rake relative to the pot size. If you play pots any higher than $60 the room will no longer take the standard 5%, as they'll always take the max of $3.

In case of a $2000 pot, the $3 taken in rake will hardly have any kind of impact on winnings. Guys who play at these limits will feel the effects of the rake the least of all players. Thus the rakeback will only mean a plus for their winnings-column, and not a life and death issue like it does for lower limits. Still, by the end of the month, rakeback can reach well into the thousands for these guys ( depending of course on how much they play).

If you play $50-60 pots all the time, rakeback will become the difference between winning and losing.Don't be ignorant to this. Online poker is a game of small edges. You need to find small edges all the time and push them as hard as you can putting them to work as often as possible. Having a rakeback deal is such an edge, and it's not even one that I'd call small.

Many players say they have no need for rakeback, since they only play to release bonuses. That's quite a stupid comment. First of all, they play for money, right?
Second: what do they need to do to release a bonus? Generate as much rake as possible as fast as possible. Wouldn't it be nice to get about 30% of the rake you generate back, while releasing your bonus ? I'd say it would. There are a whole bunch of rakeback offers out there that do not take rakeback from the bonus. Take advantage of one of these and earn yourself a nice little addition on top of the bonus.

Whenever you feel like you've found an edge in online poker, cling to it and put it to work. If you feel there are edges in the game that aren't worth exploiting, maybe you're just not meant to ever become a good winning poker player.
If you are considering signing up for a new poker room, signing up for poker rakeback is a MUST. You may play at this room simply to clear the poker bonuses and love the software or find the games easy to beat. If this happens and you did not get poker rakeback then you will lose money every day you play and if you clear the poker bonuses and leave then you lost nothing.
Full Tilt Poker’s hugely successful low-stakes poker series is back, boasting 25 events with more than four million dollars in guaranteed tournament action. With all of the Mini-FTOPS events mirroring those played at the recent FTOPS XIV held in November, there is no better-value way to get “big game” experience.

All the action got underway yesterday on Thursday, December 10 at 1:00pm AEDST. The opening event was a $20+2 No Limit Hold ’em freezeout guaranteeing at least US$250,000 in the prize pool. As with all the FTOPS action, that guarantee was easily surpassed, creating a monster prize pool for a tiny price.

It’s not just the huge guarantees that are causing the big fields to flock to the FTOPS and Mini-FTOPS series. Full Tilt Poker are throwing in extra value for all players who make the final table of a Mini-FTOPS event. Final-tablists will receive a limited-edition Mini-FTOPS jacket. Winners in each Mini-FTOPS will also win a silver Mini-FTOPS jersey to go along with their first place prize money and mini-FTOPS jacket.

There is also an added-value Mini-FTOPS Leaderboard that will see the overall series winner collect a special prize package which includes entry to every FTOPS XV event (excluding the Two-Day Event). The prize package is expected to be worth approximately US$7,500 in tournament entries.

The highlights on the Mini-FTOPS XIV schedule include a $30+3 buy in hold ’em event, and a two-day $250+16 buy-in hold ’em event with antes in play from the start, both with US$400,000 guaranteed up for grabs.
Of course, no series would be complete without a Main Event and the Mini-FTOPS Main Event does a fantastic job of continuing the big value theme. For just $50+5 players can take their shot at a US$600,000 prize pool. This series is a fantastic opportunity for players who may be a little low on their bankroll to take a shot at huge prize pools.

For those more than a little short on bankroll, Full Tilt Poker have a full range of satellite option starting from just $0.50 or even FTP Points freerolls.

by Jennifer Harman

Being a winning player isn't only about playing good cards - it's also about making good decisions. And there is one important decision you face every time you sit down in a cash game: Should I quit, or should I keep playing?

When should you keep playing?

I see so many players playing short hours when they're winning, and long hours when they're losing. It should be the other way around.

When you are winning in the game, at least a few of the other players must be losing. And when your opponents are losing, they often aren't playing their best. But you are.

When you're winning, other players fear you; you have a good table image. And when you have a good table image, you can get away with things that you can't seem to when you're losing. For one thing, you can bluff more. Usually a losing player is scared to get involved with a winning player, so it's easier for you to pick up pots. You can represent more hands than you actually have because your opponents believe you're hitting every flop.

The only time to quit when you're winning is when you are tired, or when you start playing badly.

When should you call it a day?

Many players can't seem to quit when they are losing. You have to remember that there will always be another poker game -- if not tomorrow, then the day after, or the week after. I like to think of poker as one continuous game going on for my whole career. So, if I'm losing more than 30 big bets in the game, I usually quit.

There are a couple of reasons I do this: For one, if I lose a ton of money in one day, I don't feel so hot the next day. That means if I go in to play the next day, I might not be able to play my best game. I might actually have to take a few days off to get my head straight. Another reason is that when I'm losing more than 30 bets, I might not be playing that well. I might think I'm playing my "A" game, but in reality, I'm probably not. You can't be as objective about your play when you're losing. After all, we are not robots; we're just human beings.

Good luck!
They will say something like I only play at poker rooms when I have a poker bonuses to clear."

There are several different answers to this. For a player who only plays a few hours a week and barely has time to clear the Poker site bonuses then right now there is not much of a difference, But You must be prepared and ask yourself What if these poker bonuses get cancelled? What if one day you decide to become a professional poker player? A serious poker player needs to have at least a couple of accounts at the major poker rooms.

In my honest opinion, If you are serious about making money playing poker, you should have at least one account at every major poker site so you can follow the action, have multiple screen names, and earn multiple poker rakeback.

There are many poker players in the poker arena right now that regret not getting poker site rakeback and now they have signed up for every major poker room and skin. Do not let this happen to you.

If you are playing poker without a poker rakeback deal, just sign up with a poker rakeback offer from hoodwinkpoker

This can be the key factor that makes you a winning poker player in the long run. But remember, even though it is most important to play with poker rakeback at some limits, all players earn extra money when playing with it.
Even though the fees taken from the cash games you play may seem small, they can add up to fairly large amounts surprisingly quickly. For example, someone playing just 2 tables of 50c / $1 no-limit Holdem for 2 hours per day could be earning up to $5k a year with a reasonable poker rakeback deal. This is around $450 a month that you are quite literally giving away to the owners of the poker site at which you play.

One day you may find your best game and become extremely successful if you are not already. You may also find yourself out of work with poker as your only income. If this happens and you play $5/$10 and play 30,000 hands a month like a full time pro plays you are leaving around $2k on the table every month. It is great idea to look ahead. Think of it as a investment even if you do not think poker rakeback is right for you now it could be a great deal in the future, there is nothing to lose.

Hoodwinkpoker.com are part of the Rakeback Partners Network, who are committed to providing the best customer service in the poker site rakeback market. The comprehensive FAQs are backed up by a dedicated team of support staff, who are on hand to answer any queries quickly and efficiently. poker rakeback and poker bonuses are a craze that has hit internet poker world by storm. Nuts Poker Table

"I bought this poker table as a birthday present for my boyfriend which he just opened up this morning- seeing his face made it all worth while - he was very pleased! The table arrived in pristine condition and the service from drinkstuff was faultless throughout, both in terms of delivery time and letting me change the delivery address once i discovered that "Nuts Poker Table" was emblazoned on the outside of the box- a bit of a giveaway if my boyfriend had caught sight of it before his birthday! The table seems to be of a high quality and hopefully will stand the test of time for many a poker night to come for my man and his mates!!"
Done The Job!

"Well I bought this item when it was reduced on offer. For the price I got it at was a very good deal. The table is good and is stable and free standing. The padding is decent and the playing surface is very nice and smooth. This has certainly done the job. Very good poker table for any home or pub game."

Top Table for Top Price

"Ordered the Nuts Poker Table and it was delivered in quick time, in line with the prescribed times (1-3 days). I'd read previous comments about tables being delivered with rips in the material or table damage, but it seems this has been addressed (the internal packaging was sound). The box did arrive with a few cuts and tears in it - but I suspect this is more to do with the delivery company. My table arrived in mint condition and I used it that evening. Top product at a great price (I haven't seen anything better anywhere) and great customer service. I cancelled my initial order and my account was credited in a couple of days."

By Sit And Go Pro

Everyone knows the surest way to make money at online poker is by WINNING TOURNAMENTS. The reason is because you can win large multiples of your buy-in... 200%, 500%, 1000%, or even higher.

In this strategy article we'll discuss step-by-step exactly how I consistently make a "killing" at online poker by beating Sit and Go tournaments. Read on to learn this amazingly simple method...

What Is A Sit And Go?

A Sit and Go is an online poker tournament. The name "Sit and Go" comes from the fact that these games are fast-- with a clear beginning and end. Each Sit and Go has a pre-determined number of players... so once the spots are filled, the game starts.

Everyone in a Sit and Go must buy-in for the same amount of money and starts with the same number of chips. The blinds gradually go up in "levels" or "stages" until one player is left standing.

The payouts are determined before the game and are displayed when you buy-in.

How Many Players Are In A Sit And Go?

Sit and Go's can have as many as 50 players or as few as 2. It really just depends on which casino you're playing at and which type YOU CHOOSE.

A majority of Sit and Go's are single table games with 10 players. In a game like this, the top 3 finishers would place "in the money". ("Single Table Tournament" is abbreviated STT.)

For instance, let's say you want to play a $10 Sit and Go. You buy-in for $10 and pay an "entry fee" to the casino-- probably a buck. All 10 players would start with the same number of chips-- let's say 800. The blinds would start low, probably 5-10. As the game progresses, the blinds will keep increasing to force action. The buy-ins on a game like this would total $100. That money would get split between the top three finishers. First place would be $50, second place would get $30, and third place would get $20...

How Long Do Sit And Go's Last?

A 10-player Sit and Go will usually last between 30-60 minutes. Some casinos have "turbo" Sit and Go's where the blinds go up faster. Turbo games finish more quickly.

A 2-player Sit and Go-- which is really just a "heads-up" match-- will often last a FEW MINUTES before ending.

There are also Sit and Go's with 5 players, 8 players, 20 players, 30 players, and so on. (A Sit and Go with more than 10 players will be played on more than one table. These are known as "Multi-Table Tournaments", abbreviated MTT.)

No limit Texas Holdem Sit and Go's are generally faster than limit Sit And Go's... because the ability to move "all-in" gets things moving.

How Do Sit And Go's And Ring Games Differ?

The easiest way to understand the distinction is to understand that Sit and Go's are simply TOURNAMENTS. Ring games are like "cash games". Here are some of the key differences:

* You can buy-in or leave anytime during a ring game, whereas you must enter the beginning of a Sit and Go to play.

* Sit and Go's have a clear start (when everyone is ready) and end (when only one player is left). Ring games are ongoing.

* The blinds go up during Sit and Go's, so in the later stages you're forced to loosen your starting hand selection and take risks. In ring games, the blinds stay the same.

* Winning a Sit and Go requires a completely different set of strategies and techniques than winning a ring game...

Why Sit And Go's Are So Popular

Sit and Go's are HOT right now. I personally love to play Sit and Go's, because I can often make MORE money and have MORE fun than in ring games.

Playing a ring game requires "grinding it out"...

Playing a Sit and Go is an exciting battle with ups and downs-- with a "do or die" feeling to it.

And here's the best part: When you learn how to master the STRATEGIES for Sit and Go's, you can amass a FORTUNE in winnings! You can predictably and consistently log onto your computer and win tournament after tournament after tournament...

Here's why: Since Sit and Go's pay the top finishers, you don't have to place first to always make money. You obviously WANT to win first-- but it's not necessary for making a profit. I've developed a system of tactics where I shoot for first, but "hedge my bets" to settle for 2nd or 3rd as a backup plan...

How To Consistently Beat Sit And Go's

Because of their unique structure, there are SPECIFIC strategies you need to beat Sit and Go's on a consistent basis.

It's taken me YEARS to "crack the code" on this and figure it all out. But now that I have, I can easily log onto my online poker account and make money... just about every time.

It's a great feeling. And I want to share it with you.

That's why I developed Sit And Go Shark.

The concept for Sit And Go Shark is actually very simple. This easy-to-install poker software is like having your very own PERSONAL POKER COACH.

That "coach", of course, is me.

When you use Sit And Go Shark, the program shares several pieces of IMPORTANT ADVICE that you need to be thinking about at the table-- everything from your cards to blinds to positioning to pot odds and more...

The advice-- which took me over 6 MONTHS to write!-- is drawn from a HUGE DATABASE of possible combinations and factors. It runs alongside your table while you play, so it requires ZERO extra work from you.

I should also point out that online casinos don't mind if you use Sit And Go Shark. As you know, some software out there is banned and dangerous to use... and I would never, ever recommend you to any of these software programs. You can feel comfortable using anything I point you to.

Anyway, like I was saying, Sit And Go Shark is like having me sitting on your shoulder... telling you what to do each step of the way... and teaching you how to handle the situation.

You'll get two main benefits from using it:

1. You'll win more (a LOT more) money simply by following the advice.

2. You'll learn more (a LOT more) about the game of Texas Holdem. You'll even do better at offline tournaments and ring games, even though you won't have the tool in front of you.

Pretty cool, huh?
