Saints Win!!!

I've said it here before; I'm from Louisiana, therefore I'm a New Orleans Saints fan. One is literally born into it.

The Saints mean so much to the Gulf Coast and I'm talking well before a natural disaster ripped the region to shreds, contributed to the flood of one of the best cities and some of the finest people you will ever find in this country.

The Saints winning the Super Bowl was more than just a football game and I'll leave it at that.

As far as the game went, I was sitting in our recliner, in front of our TV, in our dim lit den, hugging a pillow with a hat on, brim pulled low. My wife told me I looked like a ten year old child watching the scariest movie ever.

I wasn't worried about the Saints starting off slowly and I wasn't really worried when they were down by 10, but I thought if they Colts scored again it might be over. The Saints settled in and Brees found a rhythm.

Here are thoughts on the game.

Marques Colston had a huge drop, but so did Pierre Garcon both of those were key plays.
I was surprised the Saints didn't call more screen plays, I figured to see a lot of those and draw plays.
Former LSU Tiger, Joseph Addai, had a great game rushing the ball for the Colts and added some good receptions as well.
Marques Colston out of the slot is money.
Colts defense is super fast, Saints defense needs to run some tackling drills tomorrow.
Both QB's made really great throws.
How huge was Garrett Hartley! First time a kicker made three field goals over 40 yards in a Super Bowl.
I loved the call going for it on fourth and goal, but hated the play call running over the right side. Even if you don't make it, you give Indy a long field. Kick the field goal, you give Manning time to score and they get the ball back at the beginning of second half (or so you think).
I called the onside kick coming out of commercial, go figure. Sean Peyton is that aggressive and watching him for 18 games, it was easy to think that.
Pierre Thomas is one of the best RB in the league at running a screen. I was hoping they would call that and the Saints offensive line blocked it to perfection.
I was on Tracy Porter because he allowed Reggie Wayne that quick slant for a big first down, but how he would turn that around.
Officials called a great game.
I thought the two point play was good when I saw it live, because Lance Moore wasn't down by contact. Even though his butt was not in the end zone, the ball crossed the goal line before kicked out by Colt player.
Jonathon Vilma had a great game with two big tackles for a lose. He is a great leader on that defense.
Jeremy Shockey against a cornerback two yards out, I'll bet Shockey 8 out of 10 times.
All week long I was telling people that I talk football with that I didn't want the Saints to lose playing some cover two type junk on defense against Peyton Manning. The Tracy Porter pick six was off a blitz. Good!
Tracy Porter will be talked about in NOLA for the rest of time.
I was still super nervous when the game seemed to be won, but I really thought the Colts did some horrible clock management at the end of the game.

As the last seconds of the game ticked off the clock tears of joy were rolling down my face. Never in my lifetime did I think I would say, the New Orleans Saints have won the Super Bowl.

I'm not much on slogans, catch phrases and such, but for tonight....

Who Dat! Who Dat! Who Dat say they gonna beat dem Saints....Nobody!

Well, for the record, our move has been completed for a while and we are settled into our new neighborhood. I really like it where we are.

Sure, moving here and picking the place we did, we sacrificed square footage, an attached garage, a big yard, constant air traffic noise, streets that weren't on any type of grid and an overcrowded elementary school, but now we could film an episode of "This Old House" practically every weekend, here at our new home.

Did you get that, some of that was facetious. I don't miss a big yard, constant air traffic noise, cul-de-sacs, and especially the overcrowded elementary school. However, I wasn't kidding about the old house. The house we now live in was built in 1921 and could possibly fall to the ground tomorrow, but I'm happy as a lark.

I've got plenty of things to type out here or elsewhere, I'm brainstorming a few outlets. However, all of this will have to wait until after Sunday. My Saints are in the Super Bowl!!!! I was really thinking that might be something that I would never say in my lifetime.

The Move

One week from now I should be up to my elbows unpacking a lot of junk we should have thrown away, instead of having it moved to our recently purchased house.

I can't wait. This move has been a long time in the works and our family so needs to get back to normal, whatever that is.

You have no idea how much this guy took for granted the pause button on the DVR. I miss and love my HD television and DVR so much that once we are reunited, I'm gonna take it under the bleachers and make out with it. Hulu has been a nice mistress, but she still makes me watch lame ads.

Once we get settled, I'll tell about the move that seemed never ending and our new place.

Preschool For The Little Man

The Little Man started preschool on Thursday. Godspeed to his two teachers.

So far, he's loving it.

When I picked him up, I asked how his day was and he replied, "Good. I got to eat a snack, then we ate lunch, played in park, ate lunch, had a snack and ate lunch! Can we go get a snack?"

First Day

Thrilling.

That describes our daughter's first day of school. However as you can see here in the photo, her little brother...not so impressed. While Doodlebug is waiting for her teacher to pass out name tags, The Little Man finds time to yawn and shove his hand down the back of his pants completely bored.

I didn't notice it at the time I took it, but this photo is about par for the course as far as our kids go. The daughter always interested in what's going on, the son pretty much an independent man of leisure.

After tears at first, when we dropped her off, we returned to a complete adrenaline rush explanation of how awesome her day was.

When we were dropping her off in the morning we were wondering where everyone was, but then The Lady pointed out the school has less than half the number of kids we were used to from last year. That was my adrenaline rush of how awesome the day was.

Sucks To Be On Top

During this time of year or any time I am submitted to standardized tests, I wonder how the number one pencil feels. Sure it's number one and all, but no one cares. Everyone just wants the number two.

I would imagine this is having a tough toll on the number one pencil. They are few and far between. Most likely you can find them behind a smokey bar, drowning their sorrows in a cup of paper clips, rubber bands and fingernails.

Moving...Finally

Finally, we are moving.

Well, not immediately.

We are living in a corporate apartment for about a month, so kids can start school on time. Then we will move into our house, once we close in the middle of September.

If you need to buy a house in the Cincinnati burbs of Northern Kentucky, I'm your guy. We already know we are going to lose a lot of money on the house, so let's make a deal.

I know I've said it over and over again, but I do look forward to getting back to writing on this thing. It's been a stressful summer, during which I've been trying to keep the kids having as much fun as possible.

It's The Not Knowing

I haven't written here in ages. I've been meaning to, but just haven't. There is really no excuse as to why I haven't, besides the fact that I'm lazy and haven't had the motivation to do so.

Note I just used the contraction: haven't, a bunch of times.

Our lives are in limbo right now. We know/think we are moving to Columbus, OH, it's just a matter of when. Ideally this would happen now, the sooner the better. Seeing that we would like to start kids in new schools at the beginning of the school year. However, my wife's job is holding the keys to that vehicle. We are in the passenger seat and they are driving.

So it's the not knowing that is what is driving me crazy.

Each night I look at the real estate market here, where we live, and wonder when can we put our house up for sale. Then I look at the real estate market in the Columbus area and wonder if we will be able to basically create a push out of the move. That, on top of researching school districts, different areas and commutes has me up at night wishing I knew what the heck is going on here.

I'll be around.

I know, it's been a while. We've been spring breaking off the coast of where was it? Not really.

I've been super busy putting together the 2009 Kentucky State Disc Golf Championship Tournament. I'll be back after this weekend.
