How are you? I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving weekend, and are looking forward to the Christmas season! As for me, I’ve had a whirlwind of a year, which I can’t wait to tell you more about.

For starters, I went on a month long backpacking trip with my daughters, which was the inspiration for the new Joy In The Journey Calendar. It’s definitely been an intense labor of love as well as a sweet collaboration with my youngest girl, Ruby Rose, who did all the sketches as we trekked through eight (!) different countries in Europe. I am constantly amazed by her seemingly effortless artistic gift and am so excited to be able to share more of her work with you.

FREE PRINTABLE BIBLE READING PLAN

The beginning of a new year is a natural time to take stock of where you’re at, where you’ve been, and where you want to go. So I put together a few simple printables to help keep me on track and wanted to share them with you too.

Whether you make resolutions, set goals, or just take small, daily steps in the right direction, one of the best things you can do for yourself and for your relationship with God and others, is to spend regular time each day in Scripture. There’s truly nothing like it, and it sets the tone and foundation for everything else.

For the last several years, I’ve been reading through the Bible from beginning to end (in chronological order), starting in January, and following a Bible reading plan that breaks it down in order each day. Every time it truly gets sweeter, and I see so much more than I did before. And I always tear up in the last few chapters, imagining what it will be like to see Jesus face to face.

So, at the top of my list for this year is starting the Bible over again. And I would love for you to join me!

You don’t have to have a “special” Bible to do this – just download and print off the double sided sheet, fold it in half, and slip it in your Bible where you’ll always be able to see where you’re at. You can check off the box for each day or highlight the reference to mark your progress. And don’t stress if you miss a day or three – just pick up where you left off and keep going! Faithfulness is the goal. Not perfection.

We were blessed to be able to share a delicious meal and sweet fellowship with some out of town friends-who-are-like-family. And as our kids get older, every gathering is that much more precious when we’re all together.

I know it’s been a minute since we’ve chatted. And I’m guessing, that if you’re anything like me, you’ve had more than your share of twists and turns this year. I’ve definitely been quieter than usual, as we’ve continued to navigate life and ministry and all the rest.

Sometimes that’s all we can do, isn’t it? One foot in front of the other. Taking each step by faith. Not knowing what’s around the bend, but trusting the One who sees it all and faithfully leads us on.

I would love to hear how this year has been for you, and what the Lord is showing you.

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “the just shall live by faith.”   (Romans 1:17)

Okay, before anything else, aren’t you beyond thankful that no matter what each new year (or day) holds, we can put our trust and HOPE in the One who will never fail or forsake us?

Me too. Times a thousand.

I can’t imagine facing this life and all its twists and turns without Him.

So, I’m posting this (a few days later than I intended, but here we are) because I need to let you know about a couple of time sensitive things.

First of all, since we’re kicking off a new year, and because we want our priorities straight, it’s the perfect time to jump into a Bible reading plan. I heard from many of you that loved the one I shared last year, which takes you through the entire Bible in chronological order. Happy Thanksgiving, Friend.

This year has been heavy for all of us, hasn’t it?

So many things happening – or not happening.

And is it just me, or does Thanksgiving seem that much sweeter and needed right now? A day to pause and take stock of all that the Lord has given us, and every little (and big) thing that we should pretty much never take for granted again.

I thought a new coloring printable was in order, so I just added one to the FREE PRINTABLES PAGE. The words are a perfect reminder from Him in the midst of the uncertainty all around us.

+ Devote yourselves to prayer being watchful and thankful.

I love that we can be both. Watchful. Looking expectantly for what God will do. And being thankful, no matter what He walks us through. Because no matter what, He is always with us. Come what may. We can trust Him. Always.

Reflect on that truth as you take a little coloring break today with someone you love!
