The history of Host Orlando goes back to the turn of the century, the year 2000. That’s when I (that’s me, Chris Scott) left my cushy, high-paying corporate job and struck off to try my hand at entrepreneurship. This was around March which just so happened to be when the dot-com bubble peaked. Undeterred–and too involved to turn back–I forged on and focused on providing affordable, reliable web hosting for individuals and small businesses in the Orlando area.

Fast forward a few years to 2004 when I had the bright idea of changing the company name in an effort to better reflect the other services we were offering in addition to hosting: domain names, ProductCart shopping cart software, SSL certificates, and custom development. It was then that Host Orlando changed to Adaptive Hosting Solutions. I thought the name was good and described what we provide to our customers. Everyone else thought it was too long and too many letters to type.

Fast forward to now. 2008: leap year; election year; year of the rat. For the past year we’ve been looking for hosting a technology that would allow us to streamline our systems as well as offer our customers a better, faster, redundant, reliable hosting platform at an affordable price. Early this year, we found a vendor that could provide this for us. We’ll let them focus on what they are good at which is making sure the systems are up and running, always up-to-date, and evaluating and implementing new features as the hosting landscape changes. We’ll focus on what we’re good at which is providing a total solution for our customers that works, works well, and is affordable.

Since many of our long-time customers still call us Host Orlando and that’s the core of our business we thought we’d bring the Host Orlando name back with a kick-ass new hosting system, a new web site, new plans and pricing, a new account control panel, and all manner of ass-kicking goodness.

So, that’s where we are today, June 6, 2008. I’ve just released the hounds (OK, I actually just moved the old placeholder index page out of the way) and hostorlando.com is now live with our latest vision for hosting. Over the next few days, we’ll be updating the Adaptive Hosting Solutions site to point visitors interested in our hosting plans to Host Orlando as well as letting our existing customers know what we’re up to and giving them information on moving their sites and email to our new Host Orlando system so they can take advantage of the ass-kickingness.
