The Chevrolet Aveo on it's Extra-Terrestrial Vehicle Look

The Extra-Terrestrial Vehicle or ETV -we're not even kidding, that's the car's official name- is a futuristic-looking custom build created by Mike Vetter and his Florida-based company, 'The Car Factory'. It's hard to believe it just by looking at the ETV, but underneath that sci-fi outfit you'll find a Chevrolet Aveo stripped out of its body but not its heart.

Mike, who also works on Carrera GT replica bodies for the Porsche Boxster, claims on his website that buyers can opt either for an Aveo or a Boxster donor car. Somehow though, we find it hard to believe that anyone would give up a Porsche, no matter how many thousands of time they've seen Captain Kirk and Spock fighting off intruders from other planets.

This car is available now on eBay for cool $86,000.

This United Arab Emirates-registered gold-mirror-finish Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG was caught at the Bling on Wheels Show, otherwise known as the valet area at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. While we have nothing untoward to say about someone who decks out his/her ride in any manner desired, we are always intrigued when someone looks to have spent the worth of a car – on top of the price of the car itself – on "beautification."

There is some debate as to whether this is a real paint job or a wrap, but parking your gold-wrapped C63 next to a genuinely chrome SLR would be shamefully ludicrous. A C63 AMG goes for about 300,000 AED (about $82,000 USD). Unless gold paint bubbles out of the ground as well, a liquid gold paint job has to cost a good portion of that. Now, TW Auto has wrapped an entire Lotus Elise in a thin layer of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber, which is stronger and lighter as compared to steel, is making its way into more cars than ever before.

The car was originally owned by Jimmy Wong, the 02 Type 72 JPS model features a fully custom carbon fiber body, both on the inside and out. Not only is the outside carbon fiber, but the inside features regular carbon fiber in black and silver.

The car modification includes both the outer as well as the inner body of the car. Complete customization work of the car took about six months to give it the final touch. How to Sell a Used Car

Selling a used car needn't be an issue. To make it easy for you, just follow this guide.

1. Prepare your vehicle: Make sure the car is fully Valeted. Without doubt it will add value to your sale. If it has not been serviced recently, you can get it done for about £100. Also re-MOT the car if it is due to expire in the next 3 months or less. Finally, a cheap pair of new hub caps are great value for money in making a car look good for sale. Go to a details shop and you may spent $90 to 100 to wax/shine up your car externally, and to wash/dry/polish it in the inside. Your tires will get a good wash too—and this will impress your potential customers. This investment will definitely be worth it—and you can incorporate this expense in your asking price (without telling the customer of course). Also, if there are minor blemishes (trunk broke/ handle broke)—fix those—it will be worth it. It will only take a minor fault to turn the buyer off.

2. Put your price slightly higher than what you expect—negotiate to get the deal that’s right for you. If you are not in a hurry to sell the car, and think that you deserve a certain price—wait. Wait, wait, wait. Wait, because you will definitely find a buyer who will pay your price. Use KBB.com (Kelley Blue Book) for setting your asking price, and tell the potential buyer that the price is as per KBB.

3. Purchase a "hold until sold" advertisement. There is no need to repay for advertising nowadays. Make your advert specific. Make sure you include the following: Price, specification-Make Model, and level of trim, Colour (best to include a photo), Service history, Tax and MOT, Mileage.

* A free website like craigslist.com can serve as an extremely useful medium to spread the word about your car sale. Make sure you look at other people’s Ads too, and post your car’s pictures and description accordingly. Try craigslist—you will definitely get lots of inquiries.

4. Understand if your asking price is on the lower range you may park it at the nearest Walmart, or some shopping area where lot of people turn up. Remember to ask people at those stores if this is okay—in some cases stores may tow your car.

* Park your car so it is visible from the main road, and to more and more people visiting the store. If people are calling you asking about the car each day—it also means that your car is safe there! You don’t have to necessarily check it out everyday.

* Put ‘for sale’ signs (also available at Walmart) on 3-4 sides of the car—so people approaching from all angles can view it.

* You may or may not put the price on the ‘For Sale’ signs. A lot of buyers are skeptical about used cars—so you may just put your phone no., invite them to talk to you, do your sales pitch, and then announce the price.

5. Do your sales-pitch when they phone. Explain the real reason for selling your car. Explain how many miles you have driven the car on your own, and explain your overall experience with the car. As an example this is what I used when I sold my ‘good’ condition Toyota Corolla 1996.

* Potential Customer: “What is the price of the car?”

* Me: “Let me first tell you more about the car…the only reason I am selling the car is because I got a full time job with XYZ (name your company if people know about it….people will trust you more because of your affiliation) and hence I bought a new car…I am a student from Virginia…went to school at Virginia Tech and I bought this car when I was in school. I have driven 21K miles on the car in the past 1.5 years and I have had no problems, whatsoever. I have made long trips of 600+ miles one way to Virginia—without being stranded on the road. The car runs great…has no mechanical problems…requires only regular service….has very good tires…and is just like any other solid Toyota car…why don’t you test drive the car and check it out for yourself…I don’t care if you want to take the car out to a mechanic, and verify for yourself. My asking price for the car is $$$$.

6. Do not let them test drive the car alone; they may not come back. If they want a professional inspection, don't panic, it means they are serious. When negotiating, never refuse to budge on the price, and don't let them walk away for the difference of £50-£100, it is not worth losing the sale over such a small amount.

7. Seal the deal. When someone has agreed to buy your car, make sure you print a Bill of Sale and get it signed by your buyer. Google ‘Bill of sale’ and you will find several websites which can print a Bill of Sale after you provide some information. Some sites may allow you to preview the created ‘Bill of Sale’, but may not let your ‘copy/paste’ or ‘print’ it. Just Printscreen and copy it to your word processor and print it.

* Also, you will be asked to fill out the details on the back of the title—do that clearly.

* Make sure the check is cleared, or that you have got the correct amount in hard cash, before you sign the title on the back.

* Now, you can give the keys to the car.

* Make sure you take off the license plates before and removable decals (related to your school, etc.) before you give away the car.via

Buying a used car is a mine field. There are so many things to look out for, it is hard to know where to begin being wary. Here are some things to look out for.

1. Decide on the right car for you. This may mean not getting what you want, but more what you require. Research the Consumers Reports Buying Guide or their online used car buying kit; also check out their free guide to used car buying. Remember that highly rated cars command premium prices. A lower rated car can be a gold mine if you can put up with a design flaw or two.

2. Use an online calculator to figure out payments. Don't dwell on price just yet; consider how long you will keep the car, what an affordable payment is for your budget and how much you can put down. Consider a brand new car, particularly if it has subvented financing (a manufacturer's reduced financing rate). And strongly consider, if possible, buying outright. The absence of monthly payments can have a wonderful effect on your finances.

3. Ask a lot of questions. Get as much history as possible of the vehicle. Try to get the previous owners name and call them. Run your own CarFax; dealers have been known to "lose" the last sheet.

4. Test Drive the car. Always. Try the car on different roads, and drive for at least 15 minutes. Remember you will be driving this car for a while. See if it pulls to one side or the other. It's alignment (or bad tires) it if pulls all the time; it's a brake problem if it pulls when stopping. Check for brake shudder when stopping; (that's front rotors and probably pads). It should not wander; (tires or steering components). If you have time, sit in the car for an hour...seats often feel comfortable until you've sat in them a while.

5. Get a professional check. Get the car checked professionally. If the dealer won't let you have it checked by your own mechanic, run, don't walk from that store. Pay the mechanic to check it. He should put it up in the air and check for frame/underbody damage.

6. Negotiate. Always have an idea of what you want to pay for the vehicle before you start. Go in lower, and try to compromise at the point that is good for you. Remember a "win win" situation is always required for a sale to occur. Never negotiate if you are not ready to say yes there and then. It will lose you power/credibility over the dealer, when you are ready to buy.

7. Always get all the paper work. V5, MOT, and service history. Insist on 2 sets of keys minimum.

8. Get a vehicle report. You don't want to end up with a car that has been flooded and since Katrina many used cars have been brought on the lot with just that problem. Ordering a CARFAX Vehicle History Report is worth your time and money and empowers consumers in knowing exactly what they are purchasing.

9. Know the financial vehicle history of the used car. To make sure a car is not stolen, police agencies have records of stolen vehicles reported to them. We have a lot of ways on how to choose a good car before we buy. Some of us will go directly to our local car dealer and some also will search on the internet for a best car to buy. Nowadays, lots of car auction sites offers low car prices but we don't know the real condition of the car.

Don't look for cheapest car. When it comes to used cars, "best deal" doesn't mean the cheapest one. Your goal is to look for a car in good condition for reasonable price. If you choosing between relatively cheap car that might have an accident in the past or was poorly maintained, needs some repair, etc. and more expensive one that is in excellent condition, I'd without a doubt choose the more expensive one. You will simply save on repairs and will have less troubles driving it.

Don't think they sell it cheap because they don't know the price or they simply want to clear their inventory. If they sell it cheap, definitely there is something wrong with it. Remember, proper price for a certain used vehicle is not the one indicated in blue or black book - they give you just an average price.

The actual vehicle value big time depends on a car condition. Two cars may only look the same. One may have been maintained so poorly and the engine won't last long after you buy it. Previous owner of another vehicle may have been religious about maintenance, was using only synthetic oil, has done the rustproof and so on. Rolls-Royce Reveals RR4 Sedan First Images

ROLLS-ROYCE has revealed the first images of its new entry-level model line codenamed the RR4, the engineering development program for which is fully underway.

Signed off in 2007, the RR4's more dynamic and youthful exterior design was revealed today in the UK via two styling sketches that clearly show a radically low-slung four-door sedan with Rolls-trademark long bonnet, super-short overhangs and an impossibly narrow daylight opening beneath a sleek, near-flat roofline.

The as-yet-unnamed fourth new-generation model to be developed by the historic British brand under BMW ownership follows the Phantom sedan, convertible and coupe, which has entered production after it appeared at Geneva in March.

Smaller and more affordable than the V12-powered Phantom sedan, which carries a $915,000 sticker price here, the "baby" Roller is expected to be priced between $400,000 and $500,000 when it does on sale globally in 2010.

The RR4 will be built on a separate new production line to the Phantom model series at its "completely reconfigured" Goodwood manufacturing facility, which will also feature extended paint, wood and leather shops and next year adds a second shift as full production gears up.via

* Check the gaps between the panels to make sure they are even on both sides of the car. Bonnet to wing etc. This is a good indication as to whether the car has been in an accident and had panels replaced.

* Check the tires for uneven wear, if the tires are worn more on one side than the other its an indication that the car may have been in an accident and the chassis is twisted. It could also be the tracking or wheel balancing. Either way its not a good sign.

* Have a look at the interior of the car, does the wear inside the car look in keeping with the mileage. If the car looks like its done 100,000 and the clock says 25,000. Then you know its been round the clock, or even worse clocked. Check the steering wheel, and accelerator pedal rubber for excessive wear, the clutch and brake pedal rubbers can be replaced, but the accelerator pedal is a lot harder to change, and will give a truer indication of mileage.

* Drive the car in all gears to check the gearbox., and check for any knocks or strange noises. Check the steering for vibration, or pulling to one side, its an indication again that the car may have been in an accident.

* It's also a good idea to get the car HPI checked. This will tell you if the car has been stolen, been in an and accident, or is on finance. Checking safety and reliability reports are a must. Detailed mechanical inspection records are available for your perusal as well.

THE price of the Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) W427 supercar has increased steeply before it has even gone on sale.

HSV estimated a price of “$130,000-plus” for the 7.0-litre super-sedan when it was unveiled at the Melbourne International Motor Show in March.

Now, HSV management has revised pricing for the car, which is expected to become a collector’s item, saying it will cost somewhere between $150,000 and $170,000.

HSV managing director Scott Grant admitted to GoAuto this week that the company wanted to measure what type of price potential customers would pay, given that demand appears strong.

We are throwing out a price and testing the market acceptance for that point,” Mr Grant said, adding that HSV also had to ensure the W427 project was profitable.

“These programs have to make sense from a business point of view. We have got a substantial investment in that program. It is not going to be a high-volume car, it is going to be quite a unique car, and I think there is a place for that car in the market,” he said.more...

TOYOTA Australia has introduced a value-laden limited-issue Ateva L edition of its Camry medium-sized sedan.

With so many advertisements claiming to offer the latest luxury cars for just a fraction of their price, people can get quite sceptical when they come across genuine opportunities like government and private car auctions.

The truth is that there are some expensive luxury cars available for a fraction of their price, but one has to go through a lot of Bucks to get to the luxury cars. One of the most cost effective ways of acquiring vehicles is through government and private car auctions (the cars available are essentially repossessed, seized or surplus vehicles).

To better understand the legalities involved, it is important to understand the difference between repossessed and seized cars.

Repossessed Cars (repo cars)
Repo cars are cars that were offered as collateral against a defaulted loan, or have been repossessed by government organizations or banks due to non payment of instalments. Repo cars are more often than not well used, and should be treated as second hand cars. In fact, the reason why repossessed cars are so competitively priced at government car auctions is because they have been used by the owner (in some cases for a few years).

Seized Cars
Whenever a person is imprisoned for a financial crime (like tax evasion or fraud), all his assets (like cars and properties) are seized. In addition, cars that are part of federal evidence or have been used in a crime are also seized and auctioned off at government car auctions. Seized cars should not be confused with repo cars as there is no defaulting of payments or collateral involved.
