Livy is polite and civil to her new husband and his sister Martha (Mare Winningham), but she harbors feelings for the father of the baby, a World War II soldier, and feelings of guilt for the pregnancy. The Big Bounce is a 2004 comedy caper film starring Owen Wilson, Charlie Sheen, Sara Foster and Morgan Freeman. It was directed by George Armitage and based on a novel of the same name by Elmore Leonard. Leonard's novel had previously been adapted for the big screen in a 1969 film directed by Alex March and starring actor Ryan O'Neal.
The 2004 film was a critical and commercial disaster. It cost an estimated $50 million to make, and grossed only $6,801,716 at the box office. Film website Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a meager score of 16%. Roger Ebert summed the film up by saying simply, "The movie doesn't work. It meanders and drifts and riffs."

Palahniuk's novel was optioned by 20th Century Fox producer Laura Ziskin, who hired Jim Uhls to write the film adaptation. Fincher was one of four directors the producers considered; they hired him because of his enthusiasm for the film. Fincher developed the script with Uhls and sought screenwriting advice from the cast and others in the film industry. The director and the cast compared the film to Rebel Without a Cause (1955) and The Graduate (1967). Fincher intended Fight Club's violence to serve as a metaphor for the conflict between a generation of young people and the value system of advertising. The director copied the homoerotic overtones from Palahniuk's novel to make audiences uncomfortable and keep them from anticipating the twist ending.

Studio executives did not like the film, and they restructured Fincher's intended marketing campaign to try to reduce anticipated losses. Fight Club failed to meet the studio's expectations at the box office, and received polarized reactions from critics. It was cited as one of the most controversial and talked-about films of 1999. The Guardian saw it as an omen for change in American political life, and described its visual style as ground-breaking. The film later found commercial success with its DVD release, which established Fight Club as a cult film.
The nameless narrator (Edward Norton) is a traveling automobile company employee who suffers from insomnia. His doctor refuses to give him medication and advises him to visit a support group to witness more severe suffering. The narrator attends a support group for testicular cancer victims and, after fooling them into thinking that he is a fellow victim, finds an emotional release that relieves his insomnia. He becomes addicted to attending support groups and pretending to be a victim, but the presence of another impostor—Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter)—disturbs him, so he negotiates with her to avoid their meeting at the same groups.

He calls Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), a soap salesman whom he befriended on the flight, and they meet at a bar. A conversation about consumerism leads to Tyler inviting the narrator to stay at his place; afterward, he requests the narrator to hit him. The two engage in a fistfight outside the bar, with the narrator subsequently moving into Tyler's dilapidated house. They have further fights outside the bar, and these attract a crowd of men. The fighting moves to the bar's basement, where the men form a fight club.

Marla overdoses on pills and telephones the narrator for help; he ignores her, but Tyler answers the call and saves her. Tyler and Marla become sexually involved, and Tyler warns the narrator never to talk to Marla about him. More fight clubs form across the country, and they become the anti-materialist and anti-corporate organization called "Project Mayhem", under Tyler's leadership. The narrator complains to Tyler that he wants to be more involved in the organization, but Tyler suddenly disappears. When a member of Project Mayhem dies, the narrator tries to shut down the project, and follows evidence of Tyler's national travels to track him down. In one city, a project member greets the narrator as Tyler Durden. The narrator calls Marla from his hotel room and discovers that Marla also believes him to be Tyler. He suddenly sees Tyler Durden in his room, and Tyler explains that they are dissociated personalities in the same body. Tyler controls the narrator's body when the narrator is asleep.

The narrator blacks out after the conversation. When he wakes, he discovers from his telephone log that Tyler made calls during his blackout. He uncovers Tyler's plans to erase debt by destroying buildings that contain credit card companies' records. The narrator tries to contact the police but finds that the officers are members of the project. He attempts to disarm explosives in a building, but Tyler subdues him and moves to a safe building to watch the destruction. The narrator, held by Tyler at gunpoint, realizes that in sharing the same body with Tyler, he himself is actually holding the gun. He fires it into his mouth, shooting through the cheek without killing himself. Tyler collapses with an exit wound to the back of his head, and the narrator stops mentally projecting him. Afterward, Project Mayhem members bring a kidnapped Marla to him, believing him to be Tyler, and leave them alone. The explosives detonate, collapsing the buildings, and the narrator and Marla watch the scene, holding hands.
Screenwriter Jim Uhls started working on an early draft of the adapted screenplay, which excluded a voice-over because the industry perceived at the time that the technique was "hackneyed and trite". When Fincher joined the film, he thought that the film should have a voice-over, believing that the film's humor came from the narrator's voice. The director described the film without a voice-over as seemingly "sad and pathetic". Fincher and Uhls revised the script for six to seven months and by 1997 had a third draft that reordered the story and left out several major elements. When Pitt was cast, he was concerned that his character, Tyler Durden, was too one-dimensional. Fincher sought the advice of writer-director Cameron Crowe, who suggested giving the character more ambiguity. Fincher also hired screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker for assistance. The director invited Pitt and Norton to help revise the script, and the group drafted five revisions in the course of a year.
Chuck Palahniuk praised the faithful film adaptation of his novel and applauded how the film's plot was more streamlined than the book's. Palahniuk recalled how the writers debated if film audiences would believe the plot twist from the novel. Fincher supported including the twist, arguing, "If they accept everything up to this point, they'll accept the plot twist. If they're still in the theater, they'll stay with it." Palahniuk's novel also contained homoerotic overtones, which the director included in the film to make audiences uncomfortable and accentuate the surprise of the film's twists. The scene in which Tyler Durden bathes next to the narrator is an example of the overtones; the line, "I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer we need," was meant to suggest personal responsibility rather than homosexuality. Another example is the scene at the beginning of the film in which Tyler Durden puts a gun barrel down the narrator's mouth.

The narrator finds redemption at the end of the film by rejecting Tyler Durden's dialectic, a path that diverged from the novel's ending in which the narrator is placed in a mental institution. Norton drew parallels between redemption in the film and redemption in The Graduate, indicating that the protagonists of both films find a middle ground between two divisions of self. Fincher considered the novel too infatuated with Tyler Durden and changed the ending to move away from him: "I wanted people to love Tyler, but I also wanted them to be OK with his vanquishing."
Producer Ross Bell met with actor Russell Crowe to discuss his candidacy for the role of Tyler Durden. Producer Art Linson, who joined the project late, met with another candidate, Brad Pitt. Linson was the senior producer of the two, so the studio sought to cast Pitt instead of Crowe. Pitt was looking for a new film after the failure of his 1998 film Meet Joe Black, and the studio believed Fight Club would be more commercially successful with a major star. The studio signed Pitt and offered him a $17.5 million salary.

For the role of the nameless narrator, the studio desired a "sexier marquee name" like Matt Damon to increase the film's commercial prospects; it also considered Sean Penn. Fincher instead considered Edward Norton a candidate for the role, based on the actor's performance in the 1996 film The People vs. Larry Flynt. Other studios were approaching Norton for leading roles in developing films like The Talented Mr. Ripley and Man on the Moon. The actor was cast in Runaway Jury, but the film did not reach production. 20th Century Fox offered Norton a $2.5 million salary to attract him to Fight Club. Norton could not accept the offer immediately since he still owed Paramount Pictures a film. He signed a contractual obligation with Paramount to appear in one of the studio's future films for a smaller salary. In January 1998, 20th Century Fox announced that Brad Pitt and Edward Norton were cast in the film. The actors prepared for their roles by taking lessons in boxing, taekwondo, grappling, and soapmaking. Pitt voluntarily visited a dentist to have pieces of his front teeth chipped off so his character would not have perfect teeth. The pieces were restored after filming concluded.

For the role of Marla Singer, the filmmakers considered Courtney Love and Winona Ryder as candidates early on. The studio wanted to cast Reese Witherspoon, but Fincher objected that Witherspoon was too young for the role. On Christmas Eve in Victorian England, Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter and miserly old moneylender, holds everything that embodies the joys and spirit of Christmas in contempt, refusing to visit his cheerful nephew Fred's Christmas dinner party with his family, and forcing his underpaid employee Bob Cratchit to beg to take the day off for his own family. That night, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who had died seven years prior on Christmas Eve and is now forced to spend his afterlife carrying heavy chains forged from his own greedy ways. Marley warns Scrooge that he will suffer an even worse fate if he doesn't repent, and foretells that he will be haunted by three spirits that will help guide him.

The first spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Past, shows Scrooge visions of his own past that take place on or around the Christmas season, reminding him of how he ended up the greedy man he is now. Among them are his nephew Fred, who playfully makes jokes with his family at Scrooge's expense, and Bob Cratchit and his family, who are just barely able to make do with what little pay Scrooge gives Cratchit. The Cratchits also tend to a sickly young son, Tiny Tim, whose commitment to the spirit of Christmas touches Scrooge, who is dismayed to learn from the spirit that he may not have much longer to live. Before the spirit vanishes, it warns Scrooge about the evils of Ignorance and Want, showing them as terrifying, uncivilized children doomed to grow into savage, despicable individuals.

The third and final spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, shows Scrooge the final consequences of his greed. Tiny Tim has died, leaving the Cratchits to mourn him on Christmas. Scrooge has also died, though there is more comfort than grief in the wake of his funeral. In addition, Fred finds benefit from inheriting his wealth, and Scrooge is even robbed by his former maid. Unwilling to let this grim future come to pass, Scrooge begs to be given a second chance as the spirit forces him into his deep and empty grave leading all the way to Hell.

Scrooge awakens to find himself in his bed on Christmas morning, the three spirits having guided him over the course of one night, and immediately sets out to atone for his sins, making donations to the poor, attending Fred's dinner party, and giving Cratchit a raise to care for his family, allowing Tiny Tim to live. Plot of funny people movie:
George Simmons (Adam Sandler) is an extremely successful comedian and actor, having starred in a number of successful lowbrow comedy films. But he is also very self-absorbed, lonely and estranged from his family by choice. When he finds out that he suffers from a rare form of leukemia and his treatment has only an 8 percent chance of success, he falls into a depression, where he finds solace watching old videos of his early stand-up and other work. It is then, he decides to go back to his roots and start performing standup comedy again.

Meanwhile, Ira Wright (Seth Rogen) is an aspiring stand-up comedian who dreams of quitting his day job at a deli. He shares an apartment with roommates Leo Koenig (Jonah Hill), another aspiring comedian who has found more success than Ira, and Mark Taylor Jackson (Jason Schwartzman), an actor who has recently come into wealth and fame as the star of a lame NBC sitcom called Yo Teach! Ira has a crush on Daisy (Aubrey Plaza), a female comedian who lives nearby, but has been unable to act on it, and Mark gives him an ultimatum to act on it or else he will sleep with her.
Funny People Movie Review: Beyond The Trailer

George and Ira meet at a comedy club, where George unexpectedly takes the stage to deliver a dark, depressing routine which Ira has to follow. Ira draws some laughs by mocking George's morbidity while George watches from the back. The next morning, George calls Ira and invites him and Leo to write some jokes for George to perform at a MySpace corporate event. Ira eagerly agrees, but claims that Leo is too busy.

The event goes over well, and George hires Ira as a joke writer and personal assistant. The next morning, George informs Ira of his health condition. Ira supports and cares for George as the illness and treatment take their toll on his health; meanwhile, both comedians work on their acts. Eventually, Ira breaks down while with George at a restaurant, begging George to tell more people about his prognosis so Ira doesn't have to carry the whole burden.

George is reluctant but agrees, talking about his disease with his comedian friends and making amends with his estranged family. He also receives a visit from his ex-fiancé Laura (Leslie Mann), now married with two daughters. Laura says that her husband Clarke (Eric Bana) is always away to China on business and that he cheats on her, the same way that George did, and she regrets breaking up with George. They tearfully reconcile.

George comes to Thanksgiving at Ira's apartment, along with Ira's roommates and the cast of Yo Teach! Leo finds out that George had asked him, as well as Ira, to write jokes for him, and is angry at Ira for not telling him. Ira is angry at Daisy for sleeping with Mark before the two were set to go on their first date at a Wilco concert, and Ira calls off their date. Leo later accepts a role on Yo Teach!

George goes to the doctor for the results of his test and he learns that the medicine has been working and that there aren't any traces of the disease in his blood, but there is a possibility that it could resurface. Ira is happy with the news, while George is unsure of what to do with his life. He ultimately decides that he wants a long-term relationship. He calls Laura, but is unable to tell her about his health. She invites him to visit her in Marin County.

George and Ira go to San Francisco to perform at the Orpheum, and Laura meets them there. George tells Ira to tell Laura that he's better during the intermission between Ira's act and George's act. Ira is puzzled as to why George didn't tell her already, but ultimately agrees to tell her himself. He does so, leaving Laura speechless. Later she confronts George, who tells her that he didn't tell her sooner because he didn't want to jinx it. He and Laura embrace and she invites the two to her house.

George and Ira arrive and spend time with her and her daughters. George and Laura go out to get groceries while Ira watches the kids. George and Laura actually sneak into the guest house to have sex, then Laura talks about possibly leaving Clarke. Ira learns from her two daughters that Laura is still in love with George and Ira tells them that George is better. George and Laura go back into the main house and tell Ira they will just order pizza. Ira, however, easily finds out that they had sex and becomes worried.

While they are waiting for the pizza to arrive, Clarke unexpectedly arrives home, leading to an awkward first encounter between George and Clarke and an awkward dinner. Laura asks George and Ira to keep up the façade of George still being sick as Clarke had despised George before learning of his illness and sympathized with him after learning of it and Clarke will suspect something if he learns George is better. George and Ira spend the night in the guest house and watch a game of Aussie Rules Football with Clarke, who is obsessed with it.

In the morning, Clarke gives George a tearful goodbye, thinking he will die soon. Then, his daughters reveal that George is actually better, as Ira had told them earlier. Clarke then confronts Laura about this as he suspects she's cheating on him. Laura tries to explain that he may not be entirely better, but Clarke doesn't believe her. When Laura then calls him out on his infidelity, Clarke leaves the house. Laura tells George that she will meet with Clarke later to tell him to find a new place. Ira tells George that he thinks they should leave and that it's not worth it to break up a twelve-year marriage so that George will be happy, but George yells at him and threatens to fire him.

The next day, George, Ira, and Laura watch a video of Mable performing "Memory" from Cats. Ira and Laura find the performance moving, but George finds it hilarious and ridicules it to where it offends Laura. Laura then leaves for the airport to talk to Clarke, planning to tell Clarke that, when he gets home from his trip, to find somewhere else to live. Ira tells George he's going to the store to buy cigarettes, but instead follows Laura to the airport. Laura meets up with Clarke, who tells her that he wants to give their marriage another try. Laura, now conflicted with her feelings, ultimately agrees and says her fling with George was just a flirtation. Ira catches their interaction and tries to sneak away, but Clarke spots him. Ira is forced to tell him that George had sex with Laura and Clarke vows to kill him. Laura then chews Ira out for entering her life and the three race back to the house.

Clarke catches George watching TV with the kids and chases him outside and starts beating him. George then yells at Ira for lying to him and then asks Laura to tell Clarke she still loves him, but Laura sides with Clarke realizing that George will never care about her girls as much as Clarke. Clarke then feels it was his own fault this happened and apologizes to George. Laura and Clarke go back into the house and George and Ira head back to Los Angeles. A heated exchange develops between the two when George berates Ira for his betrayal and officially fires him as his assistant. Ira however, fires back at George for not learning anything from his near-death experience and that his insensitivity hasn't changed. George drops Ira back at his apartment and the two part ways. Leo forgives Ira for lying to him and Mark offers Ira a part on Yo Teach! if one is offered, but Ira declines.

George ends up lonely again, while Ira goes back to his job at the deli and enters into a relationship with Daisy. Ira meets up with George again at a club and George watches Ira being much more confident on stage. The next day, George finds Ira working at the deli and asks to speak with him. George admits that even though he is no longer sick, his attitude still needs much improvement. The movie opens with a ski chalet party sequence where Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath aka OSS 117 is entertaining a Chinese Countess. The party is attacked by Chinese gunmen working for Mr. Lee and everyone but Hubert and the Countess are killed. Returning to Office of Strategic Services headquarters Hubert is assigned to deliver a blackmail payment of 50,000 new Francs to Professor Von Zimmel, a Nazi who escaped to South America and has a microfilm list of French Nazi sympathizers. Once in Rio Hubert is attacked at various times by relatives of Mr. Lee's gunmen, encounters a foul mouthed American agent Bill Tremendous, the femme fatale Carlotta, Professor Von Zimmel's luchador enforcers and eventually Mossad agents intent on bringing Professor Von Zimmel back to Israel for trial. Throughout the film the main character has two main romantic interests. The first is a mysterious beauty Carlotta. The second is Israeli Army officer, Dolorès Koulechov, who spends most of the film exasperated at OSS 117's misogynistic, racist, colonial tendencies and has no interest in the main character, but warms up to him in the end.
The film is a continuation of the OSS 117 series of spy films from the 1950s and 1960s, which were in turn based on a series of novels by Jean Bruce, a prolific French popular writer. However, instead of taking the genre seriously, the film parodies the original series and other conventional spy and Eurospy films, most noticeably the early James Bond series right down to the cinematography, art direction and costume of the 1960s. For example, driving scenes are all filmed with obvious rear projection and camera movements are simple, and avoid the three-dimensional Steadycam and crane movements that are easily accomplished today. The film begins with Ray (Chris O'Dowd) being fired from his job at a local theme park. She explains she is a time traveller, and that her job is to find and repair "time leaks" and stop "editors" (rival time travellers who eliminate famous people at their finest moment instead of allowing them to live on and slowly decline).

Pete goes out to the bathroom and upon returning finds the bar full of dead bodies, including his own bloody corpse. He runs to the bathroom, and when he leaves the room again, he has returned to his own time. He wonders if this is the time leak Cassie has mentioned.

The others then follow him to the bathroom and retrace his steps, in precise detail. The bar seems normal at first but they notice people already at their tables- themselves from earlier that evening. When asked what to do, Ray replies, "This is not my thing. No, my thing is sitting on my arse reading books about this shit, not actually being in it."

Ray realises Cassie is still there and goes to talk to her. Cassie doesn't believe him and leaves out the door to the garden, only to immediately return, her hair and clothes having changed. She explains she had been gone for 6 months, but came back just one second later.

They go talk in the garden, Cassie reassures him there is no risk to the timeline as no one is due to go out there for 20 minutes. After only a few minutes a kissing couple come out into the garden unexpectedly, and Cassie nervously reassures him it is all fine. Ray looks away momentarily, and Cassie has disappeared.

Rather than risk altering the timeline, the three wait in the cupboard and let time pass until their previous selves go into the bathroom the first time, which the trio eventually do. After waiting for a half hour, the three once again need to go to the bathroom, and they use the women's toilets to avoid bumping into themselves. The leave but arrive in the distant future. Pete tries to go back into the women's bathroom to reverse the trip, but appears again almost immediately, haggard and with a full grown beard and warning them not to go in there. When they go back to the bar to find weapons, it is damaged and covered in a layer of ash and dust. The gather a few meagre weapons and find a packet of crisps with an expiration date of May 2094. Ray wants to look around and explore, but Toby is eager to leave as soon as possible. On the back wall of the pub they see a mural, showing the three of them sitting in the pub dressed as they are now. Startled by a noise, they speculate that it could be the sound of a giant insect. It turns out to be just a homeless person walking by pushing a squeaky shopping trolley, who gets his head bitten off by a giant ant.

They wait in the bathroom afraid to go further, Pete hints at what happened to him while he was gone in the giant forest. They hear a noise and all three hide, and see their past selves trace Pete's steps and try to travel in time. They then run out into the garden to find the place full of people dressed just like them. It turns out to be an "imagineer" fan theme night based on them, Pete even wins a prize for his costume (the prize for best Toby is won by a much fatter man). A second time traveller Millie shows up and helps send them back to their own time.

They overhear themselves still talking about the letter to Hollywood and so decide to get some pints and wait it out. After a round they get back to their original seats and read the note on the back of the letter that will make them famous. Ray again needs to go to the bathroom but to be safe decided to avoid the toilets go to garden instead. Cassie appears again, with a different hair style and clothes. Ray thanks Cassie and Millie and the people at Causal Adjust. Cassie doesn't know any Millie and realises she must be an editor sent to kill them at their finest moment, like Kevin Costner just after Dances With Wolves. Cassie attempts to go back and fix the problem but cannot leave, so she returns to the bar, finding Millie there. Pete fights with Toby to destroy the note, but they are stopped by Millie who pins the note under her heel. Millie makes Toby an offer "die and live on as legends or live a long life anonymously" but Toby defies her. Millie kills Toby and sets off a blast killing everyone in the pub. Ray makes one last move trying to reach for the note, he doesn't reach it but instead spills a pint, which luckily destroys the note. Time rewinds and things seem to have gone back to normal.

The three friends walk home and ponder if the adventure is over. Cassie then appears through a big glowing time portal, her hair now long and blond, dressed in leathers and wearing a helmet. She reveals that she has been dating for 2 years, but that they have only 14 hours to save the earth, and they have to go with her to a parallel universe. The lads are reluctant, but Ray convinces them to jump into the portal. They reappear from around the corner only now they have Ray and Pete, and a second Pete.

After the credits Ray and the 2 Petes hear a shout "get back freak" and Toby runs past being chased by a strange version of himself. Pete has the last words: "This is all getting a little bit too complicated."

The Land That Time Forgot is a 2009 science fiction film by The Asylum. The film is a modern adaptation of the 1918 classic Edgar Rice Burroughs novel of the same name, and a re-make of the 1975 Amicus film starring Doug McClure. As with many recent Asylum films, this might be considered a mockbuster, made to capitalize on a larger-budgeted film with a similar name - in this case the 2009 film Land of the Lost.
The film takes place in the present, when two newlywed couples are enjoying a charter boat cruise through the Caribbean. Passing through a bizarre storm, they emerge off the shore of the mysterious island of Caprona.

The island, which seems to exist within a time void inside the Bermuda Triangle, is full of anachronistic inhabitants, including dinosaurs and a crew of a stranded German U-Boat. The newlyweds, along with the charter boat's captain and the Germans, must battle a variety of obstacles to escape the island and get back to their own time.
Burroughs' novel itself was arguably an attempt to capitalize on the success of earlier Lost World stories by Jules Verne (The Mysterious Island) and Arthur Conan Doyle (The Lost World), among others. When the Amicus film became a hit, its success coincided with the 1970s Land of the Lost TV series by Sid and Marty Krofft. Filming began in August 2008 in Vancouver. The film is set in a modern setting and only brushes on Mayanism and the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar.

In 2009, the sun emits a massive solar flare. American scientist Adrian Helmsley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) travels to a neutrino detector in a copper mine in India to meet his friend, Satnam (Jimi Mistry), who has discovered that Earth's core temperature is increasing rapidly. Adrian returns to Washington D.C. and submits a report to Chief of Staff Carl Anheuser (Oliver Platt), who immediately takes him to see US President Thomas Wilson (Danny Glover). In 2010, Wilson tells other heads of state and heads of government the situation at the 36th G8 summit and the creation of a number of arks begin in preparation for the world ending. To fund the venture, billionaires are allowed a ticket for one billion euros.
2012 movie plot:
In 2012, Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) is a divorced father who works as a limousine driver and writer. His ex-wife Kate (Amanda Peet) and their children Noah (Liam James) and Lily (Morgan Lily) live with her new boyfriend, plastic surgeon Gordon (Thomas McCarthy). Jackson takes Noah and Lily on a camping trip to Yellowstone, where they meet Charlie Frost (Woody Harrelson), a radio show host and conspiracy theorist who believes in the Mayans' prediction of the world ending in 2012. The family return home as cracks begin to develop along the San Andreas Fault in California and earthquakes occur in the San Francisco Bay area. Despite government assurances that all is fine, Jackson grows suspicious and hires a private plane to rescue his family and Gordon. As the Earth's crust displacement begins, Jackson collects his family and escapes Los Angeles as it collapses into the Pacific Ocean.

As millions begin dying in apocalyptic earthquakes the world over, the group fly back to Yellowstone to collect a map from Charlie so they can try and reach the arks. They narrowly escape as the Yellowstone Caldera erupts, killing Charlie who remains behind to watch. Realising the arks are in China, the group lands in Las Vegas and meets up with Russian billionaire Yuri Karpov (Zlatko Buric), who Jackson works as a limo driver for. Karpov, his twin sons, girlfriend Tamara (Beatrice Rosen) and pilot, Sasha (Johann Urb) join the group as they head across the Pacific.

President Wilson meanwhile elects to stay behind in Washington D.C., and dies when the carrier, the USS John F. Kennedy smashes into the White House, caused by a tsunami hitting the city, while Anheuser escapes with Helmsley and First Daughter Laura Wilson (Thandie Newton) on Air Force One, also bound for the arks. In the wake of the President's death, the Vice President being killed in a helicopter crash outside Pittsburgh, and the Speaker of the House missing Anheuser appoints himself Commander-in-Chief.

Crash-landing in the Himalayas (which kills Sasha), Jackson and his family (along with Tamara) are deserted by Karpov, who has a ticket for himself and his sons onto the arks. However, the group is able to get aboard with the help of a Buddhist monk, Nima (Osric Chau) and his brother Tenzin (Chin Han) who worked on the ark project.

Tsunamis begin to engulf the Indian peninsula as heads of state, hand-picked individuals chosen to repopulate the Earth and the rich elite who bought the tickets begin boarding. Adrian realises they have much less time than anticipated and Anheuser orders the arks be sealed early, although in conference with other G8 leaders Adrian, quoting Jackson's book, manages to convince them to open the gates and let the remaining people on board.

Below decks Jackson's group is sneaking aboard, but as the gates open again, Gordon falls between two gears and is crushed. As the gates start to close once more, Yuri sacrifices his life to get his two sons on in time, and Tamara drowns in a compartment. Jackson realizes their entry into the ark has jammed the door mechanism, setting the entire ark on a crash course with Mount Everest. Together with his son, Jackson fixes the problem in time for the ark to suffer only minimal damage from hitting the mountainside.

When the flood eventually recedes, satellite data shows that Africa rose in sea level and may not have flooded at all. As three arks set sail for the Cape of Good Hope, Jackson reconciles with his family and Helmsley starts a relationship with Laura. The film will be split into two separate parts. Both parts will be written by Steve Kloves, who wrote all but the fifth film, and directed by David Yates, who directed the previous two films. David Heyman and David Barron are producing both parts.
Joshua Herdman announced on August 9 that Jamie Waylett would not be reprising his role as Vincent Crabbe for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Waylett's character will be written out with his role in the plot taken over by Herdman's character.
Emma Thompson will not return as Professor Trelawney, opting instead to work on a sequel to Nanny McPhee.
Isaacs considered not returning for the film, before the book was released, as he was worried Malfoy would have very little screen time due to the character's imprisonment in the previous story. Meeting Rowling at an awards dinner he fell to his knees and said "'Get me out of prison, I beg you.' Rowling looked over her shoulder and looked back at me mouthing 'You're out. Chapter One.' And that was it, that's all I had to know, and I signed up immediately."
Director David Yates has announced that, for the final scene in the film which is set nineteen years after the film's main story, older actors will not be cast to play the main characters. Special effects will be used to depict the cast members as adults.

Pre-production began on January 26, 2009, and filming began on February 19, 2009 at Leavesden Studios, where the previous six films had been shot, and Pinewood Studios. Eduardo Serra is the cinematographer. Yates said that the film will be shot "with loads of hand-held cameras. I want to shake things up every time I go into this world. I like experimenting as we go along." The shoot will take a projected 250 days. As of October 2009, Ralph Fiennes is filming his role as Lord Voldemort. Many of the adult actors are also to begin filming this month.

During production at Leavesden, Radcliffe's stunt double David Holmes suffered a serious spinal injury during filming of an aerial sequence, which left him paralyzed. Holmes fell to the ground following an explosion which was part of the stunt.
