My Favorite Federation Darling, Miss Linda Park, is to star in a new major motion picture with the fantastic Ed Harris! It is the Look Of Love, and damn, she's got it! Linda has it going on! I first had the pleasure of meeting Linda in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2007. She reeks talent and grace.

The film also stars Annette Benning and the incredible Robin Williams. Robin, is a powerhouse comedic actor as everyone knows, but he is also a fantastic serious actor and can be quite creepy!

In soon to be published books, I have written several characters myself, specifically with Linda in mind, so I am super-pleased she has landed this role with Ed Harris (who was superb in Pollock!)! Linda, we adore you as Hoshi Sato, but your talent is that of Shakespeare quality. Full ahead, warp 7!

He has resumed Republican-started anti-cannabis prohibition, busts and actively obstructing groups from following State laws and local laws regarding medical cannabis administration. He has sucked ass on this! He has made many powerful enemies on this and is actively losing support. There are many in the weed community who now wish Hillary had won. My God, man, have some balls and stand up for your brothers and sisters who go to jail for nothing, motherfucker, Mr. President.

Sharp Escalation of Regime Violence in Syria

The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the escalation of the Syrian regime’s violent and brutal attacks on its own people. In the past few days we have seen intensified Syrian security operations all around the country which have killed hundreds of civilians. The government has shelled civilian areas with mortars and tank fire and brought down whole buildings on top of their occupants. The violence has escalated to the point that the Arab League has had to suspend its monitoring mission. The regime has failed to meet its commitments to the Arab League to halt its acts of violence, withdraw its military forces from residential areas, allow journalists and monitors to operate freely and release prisoners arrested because of the current unrest.
The Security Council must act and make clear to the Syrian regime that the world community views its actions as a threat to peace and security. The violence must end, so that a new period of democratic transition can begin.
Tomorrow, I will attend a United Nations Security Council meeting on Syria where the international community should send a clear message of support to the Syrian people: we stand with you. The Arab League is backing a resolution that calls on the international community to support its ongoing efforts, because the status quo is unsustainable. The longer the Assad regime continues its attacks on the Syrian people and stands in the way of a peaceful transition, the greater the concern that instability will escalate and spill over throughout the region.

Russia will not back a new draft resolution on Syria, its deputy foreign minister said Monday ahead of the UN Security Council's debate over the latest Western-backed proposal.

"The current Western draft has not gone too far from the October version, and, certainly, cannot be supported by us," Gennady Gatilov told Interfax news agency in an interview.

"The draft has statements in it calling on the member states to stop arms deliveries to Syria," he said.

"But there is no clear line between arms contraband that some countries engage in to support extremist forces in Syria, and the legal military-technical ties with this country," he said. [AFP]

Opinions have "evolved" within the UN Security Council and more members are now willing to back a draft resolution criticising Syria for its protest crackdown, a French diplomatic source said Monday.

"The balance within the Security Council has evolved" concerning a draft resolution on Syria in the wake of the latest bloodshed, the source said.

"At least 10 countries" of the council's 15 members could vote in favour of a draft resolution, the source said, adding that the most hostile council members were Russia and India.

"The new non-permanent members of the Security Council are more convinced of the need for a resolution," the source said.

Morocco, Togo, Guatemala, Pakistan and Azerbaijan joined the council as new temporary members this month. At the same time Brazil, which had been among countries resisting action in Syria, lost its place on the council.

The opposition Syrian National Council warned on Monday of a possible "massacre" of hundreds of young men rounded up by security forces in a town near Damascus.

It voiced "fears over a possible liquidation of hundreds of young men that Syrian security services have gathered in a public square in Rankus," 40km north of the capital, in a statement received in Nicosia.

The SNC called for the Arab and international media "to act quickly to follow this issue".

Security forces "raided Rankus this morning, backed by tanks and rocket-launchers ... and launched a campaign of arrests," it said.

"The authorities have cut off electricity, telephone lines and water. They have imposed a siege on Rankus, preventing food and medical aid from entering" the town of 25,000 inhabitants.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said earlier that troops penetrated Rankus after shelling the town which had been encircled for six days.

The rights group and activists at the scene said army deserters pulled out of Rankus as troops moved in. The assault reportedly cost the lives of two deserters and left dozens of civilians wounded. [AFP]

Dog Days For Diane

It has simply been painfully farcical to observe Sen. Feinstein's votes (she, the self-proclaimed

"LIBERAL," Ha! Citizens, I beseechyou, look at her voting record on vital and progressive

bills---look at what bills she wrote or co-sponsored. I, for one am sick and tired of hearing HER

at ALL, or seeing that wicked gnarly facies....and/or her touting her record in San Fran and

how "liberal" she WAS! "Was" is the keyword here!

When did the blowhards of the "Grand OLD Party" buy Diane off? My best hypothesis is that

she was a "mole" from the beginning, even at San Fran, and her true mission was to screw over

the common man/woman, (this is the mission of the entire GOP) and God did she! The

repugnicunts have had Diane in their slimy pocket for a long, long time.

It is time we get this harpy out of office!

I suggested Barbara Lee of Oakland to the Democratic Party--she would do a good job and

cares for the poor and middle class. She is strongly anti-war and would pressure Obama to end

the 2 wars we (America) started. She would be ideal, because she is a proud liberal who

ACTUALLY VOTES THAT WAY! (Like Bobby and Ted Kennedy did.)

Come on people now, elect Barbara Lee as Senator of California!

Or if she won't do it---( I HAVE suggested this to her staff before!)----then some other very liberal person, like Matt Gonzales--anyone fairer and much more liberal than D.Feinstein!

Hello Barack

I called the President today. We had a nice 20 minute conversation. Glad he was able to take

my call. Respect. I had a litany of complaints for him.

And a few kudos.

I did it publicly on a cellphone in a public park. Some people may have overheard some

of it, because at times I had to shout at him. But we are cool.

I still believe in him. But, I pulled no punches about the things I feel

he has majorly goofed on (using the "g" word to substitute for what I really said...)

and wtf was he Thinking?

We both had a good laugh when I mentioned that theRepugnicans, after the pigs shamelessly

(because they are not BURDENED with a conscience..) heinously clusterfucked and

gang-raped lady liberty for most of my adult life, with the near-completed attempted

fascist coup of "NINE ELEVEN," starting two unprovoked wars just in the last few years,

etc., etc., etc ad nauseum, now are pointing a crooked finger at him and crying "Socialist!"

ha haha hahahah hhahahaha ahahahahaha ahahahahahahahahaahahaha! WFLOAO!

I said, "Sir, if ONLY you were a socialist, or better yet, a dyed-in-the-wool Communist!

Not only would the USA finally become a free country---- at long last....but I would be tempted

to come to Washington and kiss you on the mouth!"

All, in all, it was a pleasant conversation. I strongly suggested a national holiday for

Malcolm X. Lots of conversation about the direction of the Space Program.

Next call, I will have my notes ready, so as to be less rambling, b/c I know

he is very busy. And he knows I am too.

Osama Bin Laden Reported Dead

On May Day 2011, President Barrack Obama made a live announcement and reported that Osama Bin Laden had been killed by US Navy operatives in Pakistan. The timing of this is well, non-coincidental, but nothing is.

I hope that this means ENDING THE AFGHANISTAN WAR as the President promised, which he, the lone Senator against both wars, said he would do, if elected. We elected you, brother, now let's keep those promises! And don't start any new wars either! Or muck with Libya!

Put the money in building infrastructure back up in this country. Put the money into the ISS and the Space program----it is more crucial than anything now.

Anneris "Nery" Shafer, 37, didn't know what would happen when she floated into the Atlantic Ocean on a tractor tire inner tube in 1994.

Nicknamed Nery (pronounced Neddy) by her friends, Shafer just knew that she wanted to get away from Cuba and its communist government.

When President Fidel Castro reversed a long-standing policy of arresting anyone who tried to leave the island by sea in August 1994, Shafer was one of tens of thousands who tried to reach Florida. She and a friend brought water, condensed milk and a bottle of honey on an inner tube and paddled their way toward Florida.

Despite her college education and job as a physical education teacher, Shafer said, she lived in squalor in her hometown of Havana.

"If you don't live it, you don't know," she said. "You don't know what people there suffer. It's not just poverty. You suffer an oppression."

So Shafer risked her life to float to America.

She and her friend didn't have a map, so they were forced to use the sun and moon to gauge direction. Their plan was to paddle north and pray.

After more than two days at sea, Shafer said, she could see the building lights off the coast of Florida. But before she and her friend could reach the shore, they were apprehended by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Shafer was taken to Guantanamo Bay, a U.S. military base on Cuba.

Her situation hadn't improved.

At the base, she and the other refugees were kept in camps and not allowed to leave.

"For me to leave home, and go basically to jail, was hard," she said. "My hope was, 'I'm going to the United States.' I told myself, 'I can go through this. I can suffer for a little bit.'

"We were going to a better place," Shafer said.

After about four months, the U.S. government started to process the refugees. They started with older folks, then moved to pregnant women and families with children. Then they processed couples, followed by single men and women, which included Shafer.

When her time came around, a lottery system was used to determine the order people in her group would leave, starting with the lowest numbers.

Shafer's number was 1,039.

"It wasn't a lucky number," she said with a chuckle. "I came in on the last flight that flew to the United States."

Shafer stayed in Florida for a few days until a place for her was found in Hastings. She flew into the Grand Island airport in January 1996, where Catholic Social Services employees picked her up to help get her settled into her new life.

Shafer had no idea where Nebraska was. She knew about Florida because of its proximity to her home country. She had heard of other states like California, Texas and New York, but not Nebraska.

After a year, she had the option of moving to a different location if she didn't want to stay in Nebraska. She decided that she enjoyed the state and thought it would be a good place to raise a family. She also could apply to become a resident of the United States after her first year, which she did.

She worked a variety of cleaning jobs when she first came to Hastings. She didn't have a car to drive to work, so she was forced to walk despite the cold.

Someone later gave her a bicycle, which she used until she could save enough money to buy a car. Four and a half years after becoming a resident, Shafer was able to apply for her citizenship. She said it was a long and grueling process, but it was worth it.

"It's a grateful moment when they shake your hand and say, 'You're a citizen of this country,'" she said.

Despite the struggle, Shafer is now happy with her life in America.

She is married to Josh Shafer and has two children. She works as a medical interpreter, as a recruiter for the migrant worker program at Head Start and leads a Zumba dance/fitness class at the YMCA.

For others going through the process to become a citizen of the United States, she offered some advice:

"Be patient. I know sometimes it's hard."

A new report circulating in the Kremlin today prepared for President Medvedev by Russian Space Forces (VKS) 45th Division of Space Control says that an upcoming WikiLeaks release of secret US cables details that the Americans have been “engaged” since 2004 in a “war” against UFO’s based on or near the Continent of Antarctica, particularly the Southern Ocean.

According to this report, the United States went to its highest alert level on June 10, 2004 after a massive fleet of UFO’s “suddenly emerged” from the Southern Ocean and approached Guadalajara, Mexico barely 1,600 kilometers (1,000 miles) from the American border. Prior to reaching the US border, however, this massive UFO fleet is said in this report to have “dimensionally returned” to their Southern Ocean “home base”.

The fears of the Americans regarding these Southern Ocean UFO’s began, this report says, during the unprecedented events of July 11, 1991 (referred to as 7/11) when during the Solar Eclipse these mysterious aircraft appeared by the hundreds over nearly all of Mexico, even their Capital city. Most notable about the events of 7/11 were that as millions of Mexicans were watching on their televisions the National broadcasts of these UFO’s over Mexico City, the American media refused to allow their people to view it.

Since 2004, this report continues, fleets of Southern Ocean UFO’s have continued to emerge from their bases, with the latest such event being this Friday past when another of their massive fleets was sighted over the South American Nation of Chile.

The “immediate danger” to our World when these massive UFO fleets emerge from the Southern Ocean, this report warns, are the massive waves caused by their sudden eruption from what are believed to be their underwater base, or bases. In the past week alone, the Clelia II, an Antarctic cruise ship with 160 people onboard, was nearly capsized when hit by waves generated by these UFO’s emerging from the Southern Ocean, and just today the Number One Insung has been reported sunk with only 20 of its 42 member crew said saved due to the same cause.

Interesting to note in this report is its confirming our October 14th report US Shuts Down New York City Airspace Over UFO ‘Threat’ that these same Southern Ocean UFO’s were responsible for the closing of the airspace over New York City this past fall (October 13th) when they “appeared” openly and were witnessed by tens of thousands of people, and which, coincidentally, occurred during the same time frame as the mysterious Crystal Skulls of the ancient South American peoples were being exhibited there too.

Even more interesting to note is that the mysterious earthquakes being reported in the Gulf of Aden (where another “extraterrestrial” event is currently ongoing and we had reported on in our December 1st report Mysterious ‘Vortex’ Warned Is Creating Global Weather Catastrophe) are now being reported occurring in the Southern Ocean too.

This report goes on to state that after WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange warned last week that he would begin releasing secret US cables relating to these Southern Ocean UFO’s, and the Americans “war” against them, he was immediately arrested by British Police on trumped up charges issued by the Swedish government which in our December 8th report, Global Rebellion Erupts After “Unprotected Sex Meets Disrobed Governments”, we noted were engineered against him as a “classic” CIA “Honey Trap”.

Note: Since our last report on the EU-US frame-up of Assange it is now being reported that one of his two accusers, Anna Ardin, has fled Sweden and is now in hiding in the Palestinian territories.

To if Assange, or his WikiLeaks website, will survive to see the whole release of these Southern Ocean UFO files it is not to our knowing, nor does this report say.

What is in our knowing, however, and when coupled with the information we reported on in our December 10th report Massive Earthquake Fears Rise After Mysterious Object Moves Nearer To Earth, suggests that the timing of these events, as we near the December 20/21 Total Lunar Eclipse, and as Mercury turns retrograde and joins Mars as it forms a conjunction with Pluto, that the ending of this year, 2010, truly marks the ending of this age as prophesied by the ancients.

In the Sorcha Faal’s seminal work published in 2007, Battle Begins For Throne of This World: The Return of the Einherjar Warriors, she notes that in these “last days” the “guideposts” to what the future will hold for humanity does, indeed, rest hidden to the discerning reader in the words handed down to us by the ancients, none being more important in this case than those of Nostradamus, who in writing of this coming Lunar Eclipse and feared conjunctions warned:

“The arms to fight in the sky a long time,

The tree in the middle of the city fallen:

Sacred bough clipped, steel, in the face of the firebrand,

Then the Monarch of Adria fallen.” Quatrain 3:11

Most ominously for our World today, “the tree in the middle of the city” has, indeed, “fallen” with news from Glastonbury that the 2,000-year-old Holy Thorn Tree, one of Christianities oldest and most revered symbols, has been cut down by vandals. With the great tree now “fallen”, the battle for this Earth now moves to the “sky” until the “Monarch of Adria” (Pope Benedict XVI) has “fallen” too.

First of all, it is a well-written article. And, some of what is presented in the leaked US documents about the UFO's (ships) is ABSOLUTE FACT, verified by thousands of people, maybe millions by now, all over the planet. Part of it rings of slight misinformation to my ears, and is very akin to certain FICTION written by Clive somebody a few years ago.....but as often, with writing, it "comes to you" out of the Ether (oh, Lynn pass me the ether-soaked towel, thanks)---so, is it "life imitating art," or art being prescient to "coming events?" But I don't know for certain if some of it is misinfomation or truth. I will give examples.

     The events of July 7th, 1991 for example are undisputed fact, witnessed by thousands of people from all walks of life. Not just carneys, and trailer park chicks and hoboes! Yay! No seriously, hundreds of people videoed the spacecraft fleet on their camcorders, telephones, cameras, etc!! Find it on YouTube or Gloogle.

Regarding the sightings of fleets of ufo's coming out of the ocean, and causing huge waves etc.....I want more evidence. I think it is quite likely to be true. I feel Stephen Hawkings has it bass ackwards! We don't need to FEAR them and GOD, LOL LMFAO!!!!---think we could or should "fight a war against them!" That is making me laugh so hard right now it is is painful. If any money is voted to appropriate for such an insane notion, all the names of the people who voted for it, pushed for it etc will be immediately turned over to said aliens. He dicho.

I had not heard about the sightings of fleets flying over Chile in December of 2010, but it is very exciting to  me to hear!!!

So, Yes, these are REAL. Hasn't most everyone seen a UFO by now? Think back my dear reader to your childhood, your teens, later years.  Many were very afraid and freaked when they saw them, so the mind represses the trauma. These memories can be recovered with hypnosis and psychedelics properly administered--and the person is helped to assimilate the events/truth. I make no apologies for the word.

       The fact that the SCREWHEADS of England or USA or Interpol or who immediately arrested Assange on a classic honey trap set-up, is nearly DAMNING PROOF that much of the info is really true. I have seen non-terrestrial spacecraft myself, the earliest one I recall in great detail was at approximately age 12. I was recently sent a video that came, I believe, via L.E.A.P. (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition) or another progressive organization. Apparently, there was voting (via email or Internet or whathaveyou) re: the actual questions that the President be asked live. A retired cop very directly and simply laid out the facts regarding what is the modern-day equivalent of slavery in the U.S.A., that is the Drug War.

Goddamn! MF! WTFO?!? You sound like Harry Anslinger and Richard Nixon's house nigger. You sound so "tryin' to be whitey," even your facial expressions--very forced at the beginning of the question....my God, man! Are you the same fellow that was very friendly to the Legalize marijuana movement (be in for any use or merely medical)?!? You might be a "pod person." You don't seem like the same logical, educated and honest Senator/Candidate who said, when asked about whether you had ever smoked pot, "When I was a kid I inhaled frequently...That was the point!"

Mr. President, to hem and haw and say basically nothing other than the idea needs to be looked at is a travesty at best. Millions around the world suffer because of US drug prohibition. A few million suffer here--in the "land of the free." Obama, you are exactly 180 degrees OFF on what you said to the gentleman from LEAP. In a decision issued yesterday, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the government must have a search warrant before it can seize and search emails stored by third party email service providers. Closely tracking arguments made by EFF in our amicus brief, the court found that email users have the same reasonable expectation of privacy in their stored email as they do in their phone calls and postal mail.
And today, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals agreed with EFF and refused the government's request to reconsider an earlier pro-privacy decision, which held that federal magistrates have the discretion to require the government to get a search warrant based on probable cause before obtaining cell phone location records. That decision, based on EFF's briefing and oral argument as a friend of the court, has implications far beyond cell phone location privacy. It could apply to a broad range of communications records - including the content of your emails, your web search or browsing histories, as well as the location of your phone.

In the evening of May 19, 2006, six to seven police suddenly broke into my home. They searched everywhere. But all they found were several books - words on paper.

These books were used as "evidence" against my activities as a practitioner of the Falun Gong spiritual movement, which is banned in China.

Possession of these books led to my torture and persecution inside a Chinese labor camp for two and a half years.

The Chinese government tried to use these words on paper to imprison me, but it was your words on paper that helped set me free.

An Army Soldier Writes Of His Experiences In Iraq War

Sgt. Justin Farrar, of the 4th Infantry Division, stationed out of Fort Hood, Texas, was assigned to provide protection for CBS News war correspondent Kimberly Dozier, who was severely injured and her crew, Paul Douglas and James Brolan, killed by a roadside bomb in Baghdad, Iraq, while doing a report about American soldiers working with Iraqi security forces Memorial Day May 29, 2006.

This is his story of that day and those that followed, told in his own words.

“I should take you to one day prior to the incident, to May 28. I used to call my wife everyday on the phone. I told her the day before that we had a mission with some CBS reporters embedded with us. That on the 29th, we were going to have a day mission and a night mission into the Karadah Peninsula of Baghdad, right in the heart of the city.

So then, the next day (May 29) it was normal wake up in the morning. Waking up that morning, I wasn’t thinking anything different. But when we did go to pick up the reporters, I honestly—and a couple of the other guys said so too—had a gut feeling about the mission. It just didn't feel right, but of course we just didn't think about it.

I’ve had that feeling before and of course, you know, nothing happens. Besides we had orders to follow.

We met up with the reporters, which was Kimberly Dozier, her sound man and camera crew, for the Memorial Day coverage, just to show what the soldiers were doing on Memorial Day. This was around 8:00, 8:30 in the morning. From that point, we got all of our crews together and the Humvees and rolled out of the ‘green zone’ into the ‘red zone’, what we call the ‘danger zone’. There was three Humvees with 16 soldiers, the three reporters and our interpreter.

It was actually our first stop, maybe 9:30, not even 10 o’clock yet, that we stopped where there was a previous IED (improvised explosive device) explosion a couple of weeks prior to that. There was some Iraqi civilians that we went to talk to. As we were all parking our Humvees so we can pull security, people were jumping out to go walk up to these people (civilians). It was my commander (Capt. James Funkhouser) the camera man, the sound man and our interpreter that had jumped ahead in front of everybody else. That’s when myself and the reporter, Kimberly, we started walking, trying to catch up to my commander. (His voice begins to crack and the emotions start to set in.) And then, (pause), that’s ya know.... (the IED exploded-remotely detonated).

The next thing I know, I heard an extremely loud sound (which was the bomb, the car blowing up), which at the time I didn't know what it was, what was happening. All I know was I heard a really loud noise and everything went black—like someone just turned off the lights. I mean it was dark. And during that time, it was probably only a couple of seconds but it seemed like forever, things were just flashing through my head, what was going on.

Then I saw my daughter and my wife, Amy. I do remember saying to myself though that,
‘I can’t do this to Amy.’ That’s when the light pretty much came back or I opened my eyes...or something. It had that — like when you get in a car wreck or something effect — the slow motion. I still remember like it was yesterday.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I remember looking back to my left and one of our Humvees had caught fire. Some of the rounds (ammunition) were starting to cook off (explode) and fly everywhere. And then I looked back to my right and I saw my commander falling down. At that point I tried to take a step with my right leg — I was still standing after the initial blast and I don't know how. They said I was like five feet away from the car when it went off. We don't know how I was still standing, but like I said, I tried to take a step towards my commander to see if he was okay. That's when I fell down because there was pretty much nothing left there (of his knee). Then, as soon as I hit the ground — I landed on my stomach — I started spitting up blood and what I thought were teeth. But it was some of the actual jawbone that I was spitting out because the whole right side got shattered. I had some metal come and hit me in the right side of my face.

Then I remember looking up at the medic and seeing him walking towards us. So I laid my head back down and I got a little burst of energy again. I rolled myself over on to my back and I was looking around for my weapon because...but now I know it was the ammunition in the Humvee that was burninng up...I thought we were getting shot at. I thought I had dropped my weapon, but I found out later that a piece of shrapnel had hit me in the chest right where my weapon is. They said it had actually bent my weapon back into a ‘V’. They thought the weapon was just a piece of metal from the car at first. Then they noticed it was the actual weapon, my M4.

The medic came over and looked at me and I remember his first statement. He just said, ‘Oh, God’ when he saw me. They dragged me away from the burning vehicles because of the rounds, the heat and everything else. That’s when he put a tourniquet on my leg and did some quick medical stuff so he could go check everybody else out.

I remember asking about my commander. I don’t know, I...just had a feeling, I just felt that he was dead. Just how he fell down, how I saw it, how limp he went. He had some shrapnel wounds that got him and the sound man and the camera man, they both got killed by the shrapnel, as well as the interpreter. I’m pretty sure one or two of the Iraqi civilians that we went to talk to got killed, as well, by the shrapnel. The other reporter (Dozier), she was pretty messed up, too. Me and her, we took the brunt of the blast. I think there were six other guys that got hurt, from burns to shrapnel wounds. We had one guy that lost his leg (Staff Sgt. Nathan Reed lost his lower right leg).

As we’re sitting there, they were trying to call for help to get a medevac out there. But everything was so close to the bomb that it had wiped all of our equipment out — our radios. We had to wait for everything to reset. I think they said we were there about an hour, an hour and a half, just waiting. They finally called our First Sargent with a cell phone we had and they finally came out and got us. It was a National Guard unit that happened to be driving around in the area at the same time. They came over and assisted with some of the help.

I remember when those Humvees finally came to take us back, I just remember in my head, remembering every single little turn and bump that we had to go through. I just kept telling myself I just had to make it to the hospital right there in Baghdad (Baghdad Combat Support Hospital) and I was going to be all right. We were only about 10 miles away from the hospital, really not that far.

There were a couple of us that were on the verge of death because we had lost so much blood during that time. I saw the medic packing some of my wounds with gauze, but as soon as he put it in, it was soaked. He could not get the bleeding stopped. I had an I.V. in each arm — two I.V.’s going. I found out later that I had heart failure twice, on scene, before I got to the hospital. Then I had heart failure again at the hospital.

They said the doctor (had to open his chest) had to actually massage my heart to get it started again in the hospital. I now have a big scar going down my chest. Then, both of my lungs collapsed and I had some brain damage from the concussion of the blast.

At the U.S. Army Hospital in Baghdad, they stopped all the bleeding and then wired my jaw shut. They pretty much stabilized me as much as they could. I later found out that as soon as I hit the hospital in Baghdad, they knocked me out. I was in a drug induced coma for, I think they said, six to eight weeks. As I said, I did have the heart complications as well as the lung problems. So, it was better for them to knock me out for my own well being.

Then they flew me to Germany, to Landstuhl Medical Center. As far as I know, they didn’t do any surgery type things, but I do know they did some washouts where they wash the wounds out to make sure infection doesn’t set in. I was there for about a week before they flew me to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas to the Brook Army Medical Center. At San Antonio, they did skin grafs and minor surgeries at first, just to get a lot of the skin to re-heal before they went back in.

They waited a couple of months because my primary injury to my leg was my patellar tendon. All of it was torn out. Luckily, the knee cap stayed but everything below it was gone. They did a muscle flap, they took some of my calf muscle and just flapped it over my knee. Then, they took some skin from my thigh and put it on top of my knee. I was in the hospital in San Antonio for two, two and a half months.

The plans were to go back in and rebuild the patellar tendon but during that time, I was doing physical. I’d go for three to four hours a day because that was all there is to do. And, I just wanted to get better and be walking again. At that point, it was October 2006, they decided not to do the surgery because I was able to walk and bend my leg without the tendon. I don’t know how, but some how I was.

But then, in February 2007, we re-evaluated it all and we decided that since I was only 24 at the time, it might be the best thing, to actually do the surgery. They said if I was older, it’d be a little different but since I was younger, I should have it done. We tried to do the surgery from February to October of 2007, but we were fighting the whole time because I had gotten an infection in the knee. We just couldn't get rid of it.

Finally in October, the doctors went back in and they cleaned all the infection out and cleaned out everything that they had done. The doctor told me that the knee cavity was liquified. Luckily they went in when they did, I guess. Then, from that point we had talked about going in again, but I declined it. I didn’t want to do anymore.

After that, it was November 2007, we started doing my jaw surgeries, which we were taking bone grafts from my hip and putting them in my jaw. We were going to implant some teeth, but this is like 46, 47 surgeries later. I finally told them I didn't want to do the teeth surgeries or anything. I was done. Three years later, I’ve pretty much gotten use to how everything is working in my mouth, at least. Nothing was too bad. But, I still have a titanium rod in there. We were going to take it out, but we decided to leave it in there just so that it holds it together and gives it strength. I’m missing just two of the molars on the lower jaw. The whole jaw was gone after being hit by shrapnel. There was like three pieces — the whole bone was shattered into little pieces. They took one chunk out that was like an inch or so long that had a tooth still in it.

I don’t know just how much metal and glass they’ve taken out of me. As far as we know, with that (particular) bomb, it was just shrapnel from the car (it’s estimated that the car was packed with 500 pounds of explosives). We have seen many others where they do put nails, bolts, anything and everything they can in to the bomb to make more shrapnel.

They said both of my lungs had collapsed and I’ve actually had trouble with my intestines as well. Last year, in July 2008, they had to take out a foot of my large intestine because I got diagnosed with Crones Disease. As far as I know, I had a minor case of it prior to the accident. But with all the medication and all the unneeded stress, it pretty much made a minor case turn in to a pretty severe case of Crones. I can’t even work or do anything now because of it. It definitely affects what I can eat. I really have to watch what I eat sometimes. I’m on a special diet but because of how bad it is, it doesn’t really help too much.

I have to get a shot once a month. They give me a shot in each of my legs. It’s the treatment for the Crones but there is no cure for it. That’s as far as they’ve gotten in the research. They really don’t know that much about the disease. Because of the stomach issues, I have to go to the bathroom five to ten times a day.

Today, pain? I’m use to that. I live with that all day, every day, physical and mental. On a scale of one to ten, the physical pain is a 10. It just hurts, whatever I do — any movement, whether I’m moving or just sitting still. I’ve gotten use to it a little bit, but still, not being able to walk up the stairs very well, having to take a lot longer.

But with the mental part — when my commander got killed, I took a lot of blame for that upon myself because I felt I should have, could have done something to save him. It’s that — it gives me nightmares a lot. I don’t really sleep much at all. My commander was a mere 10 feet or so from me when the bomb went off. I realize that there was nothing that I could’ve done and the bad things is that I know that, but it doesn’t help. I'm still trying to convince myself of that though. I still have the nightmares where I can feel the heat, still, from the fire, the smell of it, the taste of it.

I don’t really do any physical therapy with the hospital anymore. I do a lot of stuff on my own. I ride my bike a lot — that’s the one thing that really does help my legs. You know, I can’t really run or walk very much. I ride 20 to 25 miles every other day, me and a friend of mine. He’s an ex-Marine and he’s got a bad knee too, but his is non-combat related.

In February 2007, my unit had come back to the states and we were up in Fort Hood, Texas for a military ball on Feb. 11. I had wanted my unit to be there when I was received my purple heart and that’s when they awarded ot to me, as well as a combat action badge. It was good to have it given to me by my unit, my friends. My battalion commander actual did the presentation. He has since retired from the army.

This is the only dad my daughter has known really — me being injured. It’s nothing different for her in a sense. But I still just wish that, you know, ‘cuz I dread those later on years when she wants to run around and play--when I’m not going to be able to do anythng. I won’t be able to do it as much at least. But, maybe I’ll be better by then.”
Besides the injuries he mentioned in his story, Sgt. Justin Farrar also suffered severe injuries to his left leg and a punctured ear drum. He still suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He is on the road to recovery and attributes much of the success of his recovery to the many prayers that have been given in his name.

Justin, Amy and their daughter, Arianna, visited the United Church of Marion, where their aunt and uncle attend, to personally say “thank you” to the congregation for their many thoughts, prayers and care packages sent to them. The church’s Women’s Ministry presented Justin with a specially made medal honoring his service. A potluck lunch was then held in his honor.

On Memorial Day weekend in May 2009, Justin competed in a triathlon, supported by Amy.

Green Airliners!

NASA pushes for a green jetliner

They might be best known for space travel, but the folks at NASA are determined to shape the future of commercial aviation.

The agency says airliners need to be quieter, greener and more fuel-efficient.

To attain those goals, NASA handed out nearly $6 million in contracts this week to two defense industry giants: Lockheed Martin Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp.

NASA’s goal is to develop technology that would enable future aircraft to burn 50% less fuel than current models, cut harmful emissions in half and shrink the geographic areas affected by obnoxious airport noise by 83%.

The agency hopes to develop concepts for airliners that could go into service by 2025.

Engineers from Lockheed’s famed-Skunkworks defense enclave in Palmdale won about $3 million to develop the concept. Northrop engineers, working out of the company’s space park in El Segundo, were given $2.65 million.

The engineers will have 12 months to develop a concept for an aircraft that can fly near the speed of sound at a range of 7,000 miles, carrying up to 100,000 pounds of either passengers or cargo.

But don’t expect the traditional “tube-and-wing” design for the aircraft’s wings and fuselage. This project is all about thinking outside the box.

When Massachusetts Institute of Technology's department of aeronautics and astronautics presented its vision of greener commercial planes to NASA earlier this year -- part of a $2.1-million research contract -– there were some bizarre designs.

The university said commercial aircraft design needed to change, much like the changes in automobile design over the last 50 years to become faster and more efficient.

NASA's Environmentally Responsible Aviation Project is sponsoring the study. The project is part of the Integrated Systems Research Program managed by the agency's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate in Washington.

JERUSALEM — An official Palestinian report claiming that a key Jewish holy site – Jerusalem's Western Wall – has no religious significance to Jews evoked an angry response from Israelis Wednesday, threatening to further inflame tensions over the disputed city.

Decades of archaeology have shown that the Western Wall, the holiest place where Jews can pray, was a retaining wall of the compound where the two biblical Jewish Temples stood 20 centuries ago. The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, Islam's third-holiest site, is built atop the ruins.

The latest claim about the Temples, echoing positions taken in the past by Palestinian leaders including the late Yasser Arafat, underlined the deeply held, conflicting beliefs that must be untangled if a peace accord is to be reached between Israel and the Palestinians.

Al-Mutawakil Taha, deputy minister of information in the Western-backed Palestinian Authority that rules the West Bank, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that his five-page study published on a Palestinian government website reflected the official Palestinian position.

Part of the report disputes that the Western Wall was a retaining wall of the Temple compound, discarding centuries of documentation and archaeology.

"This wall has never been a part of what is called the Jewish Temple," the report claimed. "However, it was Islamic tolerance which allowed the Jews to stand before it and cry over its loss."

The report concludes that since Jews have no claim to the area, it is holy Muslim territory and must be part of Palestinian Jerusalem.

Both sides say the clashing narratives are political. Israel captured east Jerusalem in the 1967 Mideast war and annexed it. Palestinians claim east Jerusalem, including the Old City, as the capital of their future state.

"Of course it's a political position," Taha said.

Taha said he wrote the report after Israeli officials on Sunday approved a five-year renovation plan for the Western Wall area.

Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev described the report as "incitement" by denying the historic Jewish connection to Jerusalem.

Einat Wilf, a legislator from the moderate Israeli Labor Party, a part of the governing coalition, said Palestinians "are stupidly trying again and again to somehow create an alternative reality in which the Jewish people are a strangers in this land."

After Israel seized control of east Jerusalem, it cleared away shacks built next to the Western Wall and built a wide, open plaza there.

In contrast, Israel turned over administration of the hilltop itself, with the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock shrine, to the Muslim Supreme Council, or Waqf, while Israel maintained overall security control.

Plans that won preliminary approval in earlier, failed peace negotiations envisioned dividing Jerusalem along ethnic lines – leaving Israel in control of Jewish neighborhoods while Arab sections would be part of the Palestinian state – but no formula emerged for the disputed hilltop.
