It was only a matter of time before the success of Mad Men started to trickle down to the broadcast networks, and sure enough we've got two 1960s-set pilots to look forward to next season! As well as NBC's stylish The Playboy Club, we're excited about ABC's Pan Am. The series focuses on the stewards and pilots working for the classic airline and, as well as being beautifully shot, it stars Christina Ricci and Kelli Garner. It's going in the post-Desperate Housewives slot on Sunday nights, so expect love, sex and soapy drama - all with a stunning '60s setting.

We've already waxed lyrical about this new sci-fi procedural, but it really does look like the best drama offering coming out of Fox this year! There's more than a little hint of Lost about this new series - unsurprising given that it's sprung from the fertile mind of J.J. Abrams and one of the much-missed ABC drama's writers Elizabeth Sarnoff. Relative newcomer Sarah Jones plays Rebecca Madsen, a San Francisco cop who teams up with Alcatraz expert Diego Soto (Jorge Garcia) and mysterious government agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) when one of the prison's former inmates, believed to be long-dead, remerges. A strong cast, an interesting premise and, most recently, an impressive teaser trailer have got us psyched for Alcatraz - it's just a shame that we have to wait until midseason for the series premiere!

1. Rick Rosner, the creator of the show, worked for the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office as a reserve deputy before creating the show. One shift, he was out on a coffee break in the mid 70s and saw two young California Highway Patrol officers on motorcycles which is what gave him the idea for the show.

2. During the time period when original episodes of CHiPs were still being broadcast, to avoid any confusion, they referred to the syndication episodes as CHiPs Patrol. Fans of the show started to mock this concept immediately because of its redundancy; the show then literally meant California Highway Patrol Patrol. When the series was officially off the air, they went back to the original name for the episodes being played in syndication.

3. Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox only drew their firearms in CHiPs 99, but never in the original series.

4. Seven Mary Three is a rock band, but even more worthy of noting is their name. They chose their band name based on the radio call sign that the character Jon Baker used in the show.

5. If you were an avid fan then you most likely noticed that Jon Bakers service in Vietnam was occasionally referenced in the show. Okay, I have had the MacBook Air for a couple of days. I am really impressed. The quality is great! I'm still learning how Apple does things (very different than a PC). I like how it just comes up when you turn it on (not the 5 - 10 minutes it takes a PC to wake up). I also like the long battery life, and because it doesn't have a drive, it is very quiet!

Well I finally went shopping for a Android phone. I decided on using the internet marketing stragegy to pick out the perfect phone. However, the phone I decided on was the Huwei droid phone. This phone had a super deal marketed by Metro PCS and was the deal of the century, or so I thought. No such luck. They were totally all out of the phones. I was put on a waiting list and lo and behold after only 5 days I got the call the phone was in.

Got me a new phone over the weekend. Did I go with a Windows Mobile? Hell no, weirdly I wanted something I could sync with my company Exchange Server and the last phone never did it well (being a Windows Mobile).

I was told Google Droid did it well with a third party. So I get a Samsung Moment for $250 or $150 after rebate.

HOLY HELL THIS THING IS COOL!!! Ok it synced with Exchange almost in 3 clicks, and now any time I get an email on my work account, my droid goes off a minute later. I can do that with all my emails too.

Also this thing just frickin works, all the widgets I can put on its main screen, all the apps available are just phenomenal. Iphone users, your time is up...Windows Mobile, sorry ya gotta do better.

The only minor sucky part is that there is no .NET SDK, if I ever want to build apps for this I'll be going back to Java School...

Existing lab-on-a-chip designs can put the power of testing in the palm of your hand, but an upcoming model may represent the cheapest and most colorful one yet. A Harvard University chemist has created a prototype "chip" technology out of paper that could help diagnose HIV, malaria, tuberculosis and other diseases for just a penny each time, according to CNN.
A drop of blood on one side of the paper chip results in a colorful tree-like pattern that tells physicians or nurses whether a person has certain diseases. Water-repellent comic-book ink helps channel the blood into the tree-like pattern, as several layers of treated paper react to the blood and create the telling colors.
George Whitesides, the Harvard chemist, said that the colors can also reveal the severity of a disease rather than just saying if a person has it or not. It's not the most sophisticated lab-on-a-chip, but that's the point -- many of these could become cheap diagnostic tools for a developing world that often lacks physicians and clinics.

Patients in Africa or Asia could even take photos of their diagnostic results with mobile phones, which have become wildly popular even in the poorest regions. They could then send the photos on to medical centers for proper diagnosis.

I just found out 11 people that were on reality TV shows committed suicide. These kids just don't have a chance. A ghoul pool needs to be started on how these children will turn out in later life.

Perhaps we need the animal rights people to get in the fray for these babies. They successfully took away a puppy that Ellen Degeneres gave to an inappropriate family. If they can save 1 puppy, surely they can save 14 children.
