This is a fantastic blend of British Wool. 75% Wool - 25% Nylon. The wool content contains 35% luxurious Bluefaced Leicester making this one of the most sumptuous 4 Ply products. Ideal for socks!

Just the feel alone was enough to sell me, so soft you would really question if it really had Nylon in it. That is always a good sign to me of a good lasting yarn. And the special colorway, just perfect for the season.

WYS even offers the coordinating red for the option of red cuffs, heels & toes! It is just the perfect sock combination. Hello Readers! I have got a great review and treat for you today. This week we have the opportunity to feature a newly introduced kit called "Miss Grace," put out by Skeino. It is a large shawl that uses the technique of tapestry knitting. If you are unfamiliar with the technique, I really think you might enjoy learning something new and really addicting if you are asking me. I have loved every min of learning how to read, knit and quickly fall in love with tapestry knitting.

Skeino has put together some stunning color kits in every color shade imaginable. The kit that I am knitting on is called 'Kathy'. The yarns below are what my kit came with. Two skeins are identical and the other two coordinating skeins are tagged so you when in the pattern it is time to knit with them.

The "Miss Grace" pattern its self is very well described and printed out. If you are new to this type of knitting, you will have no problem learning something new. I really love finding new things in knitting that I have yet to try. This was now exception; I am just enjoying every stitch and watching how it is growing. I love watching what to me, looks like waves forming in the shawl.

The yarns that come in the kit, are amazingly soft and are perfectly matched. The muted tones and the bright pops don't look like much sitting next to each other, but once you get started...watch the beauty unfold. I think you will really be pleased when you pick up this kit for your self. It would make a fantastic winter shawl or wrap for its size. Great for any holiday party over a simple knee length black dress. That is my plans any ways!

How is it possible that this week is Halloween...I hope you all have your costumes ready to roll.. My little ones are going as Tinkerbelle & A Bumble Bee. Oh to be a kid again.

I have some really exciting items to bring you from our trusted friends over at Knitter's Pride via Stephanie at Stitch Craft Marketing. So a BIG Thank You to both of them.

This is the new set of interchangeable acrylic needles called Marblz. These needles range in tip size from a US 4 to a US 11. I love the new look of each needle size having its own color. How much easier will that be when trying to size a needle or making sure you have two of the same size. Great concept that I really like.

The set comes with 3 lengths of cables so that you will have just the right size of needles on hand for any project you want to cast on at the moment. It also is great for having more than one project on the needles, this gives you so many options and all in the convenience of one needle set.

Knitter's Pride really thought this all through and put this all in a very easy to carry case. Everything fits nicely inside and you will always have everything you need right at hand. I have knit with these and really like the amount of grip that it gives to the yarn. Not as slick as a metal needle, but not as sticky as a wooden needle.

This would be the perfect gift for a first time knitter or some one who wants a great starter set of needles. Make sure you all put this one on your Christmas list for Santa. And while you are at it, you can tell Santa to add on the NEW Knitter's Pride Wool Winder.

YES...they have come out with a ball winder and I would have to say it is really nice. Some of the unique features to this winder are an angled tightening pin, it helps it to stay clamped to the table as you wind. As well as the center dowel of the winder is removable, really great for many reasons. It winds smooth and really has a good balance to it as is evident by the final caked yarn. Great pricing for a really essential piece of knitting equipment.

LFK Stitch Markers

Hello Readers, Its Monday again and I can not believe that the weeks go by so fast. It seems like Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner...I know...don't say that.

I think I have found something new and really innovative to share with you today. Ann Templeton is a stitch marker, bag maker and much more. She has come up with a really smart and very user friendly concept when it comes to her hand made stitch markers. Let me share a little bit about them.

Ann Starts with high quality beads and hardware. Nothing of what she puts out has a snag on it, so important when you are using markers on fine hand knits. Smooth ends on all her closures are so appreciated. The concept she has come up with has two traditional stitch markers and one with a clasp on it.

This is a set of stitch markers made to help with turning the heels of socks. They were designed with the Fish Lips Kiss Heel in mind. It also includes a end of the round marker.

What a great idea!!!! I would say that most everyone has a specific heel they go to when sock knitting and this will just make it all the more easy.

So simple and yet such a great idea!!!

Ann has some really great color choices and beads on her markers and I am sure you will fine a few that you might need.

This particular skein is called Pavilion.

It contains 4 colors: green, blue, purple and charcoal.

Great color choices together and I am already seeing the socks I cast on knitting up in such a great patterning. This yarn would make a great shawl as well with the generous amount of yardage she gives you at 463 yards. We all know that some times we get those skeins that we just can not make into socks and they are destine to be a shawl.

Not only does she create really nice yarn for her customers, but she has that extra wow factor. Every order that she sends out comes lovingly packaged in this adorable hand stamped bag. The bag can easily hold your sock project while you are on the go. And if that were not going the extra mile already, she throws in a sample of one of her other bases just to make sure you have a good idea of how great her other yarns are.

This little red beauty is her Guenevere base, and its 20 grams. Perfect if you are asking me for the thumbs on some mittens or the heels and toes of socks. That is such a great way to get your customers introduced to all you have to offer. I really appreciate that and know that I would be far more interested in purchasing new yarns from Round Table yarns.

And while we are talking about Karen and her amazing yarns, you also need to take a look at her stunning designs over on Ravelry. Shawls, hats and cowls that are so intricate and detailed it is hard not to want them all.

Happy Monday Readers! I am happy to say that Fall seems to be on the way...finally. Anyone else feel it in the air?

Today I have the chance to share with you a new to me yarn dyer. Jennifer is the owner and dyer behind Bugbear Woolens.

"I've been obsessed with yarn since I was a child. I learned to crochet when I was about 7, and crocheted one of the world's largest granny squares in a ghastly light pink acrylic yarn. No one taught me how to end my work so I just kept crocheting around and around until the skein ran out, and I'm still not sure if I ever figured out how to end that square. Shortly thereafter I learned to knit, and even in college the local yarn store was one of my favorite places to go. Even if I couldn't afford yarn, I would go just to pet the pretties. In the mid-eighties, I got a job at Webs Yarn Merchants, and was in heaven. In short order I learned how to actually finish knit/crochet projects, learned to weave, and to dye. I worked there for about 10 years and knit for pleasure and wove a lot of scarves to sell at local craft fairs.

I then got a job in IT at a university, and put my fiber love aside, as a baby and full time work took over. A few years ago I picked up my knitting needles again and remembered how much I love working with fiber. My tastes have changed through, I'm much more patient and prefer socks and lacy shawls to the bulky weight sweaters I used to knit. I began selling hand dyed yarn a few months ago, in hopes of developing a business that might let me retire from the world of computers sooner rather than later. I love nothing more than rewinding a skein of freshly dyed yarn and seeing how it turns out and am so happy to have the chance to share my love of fiber and color with others. All my yarn is dyed with professional grade dyes and I do my utmost to ensure quality. My husband is a devoted rock hound and he was the one who thought my yarn should be named after various gemstones and he enjoys combing through his books to find just the right match for me."

Love the color, just the right pop of fun. How could you knit with this yarn and not be happy. It just screams cheer and fun to me. The yarn is really soft and would make a great pair of socks for anyone. And given the amazing amount of yardage you could make a really good size pair of socks!

I would call the yarn a light fingering and would lend it's self to a very tight knit gauge, giving it a great stitch definition. You could also make some really neat fingerless gloves as well. No matter what you choose to knit, I am sure you will be really pleased with the quality and care that Jennifer puts into every one of her skeins. Make sure that you all go and take a look at the amazing range of colors that she has dyed up and ready for you all to purchase!!

So happy to have found out about our next independent dyer. She is a lover of all crafts and all fiber types. Andi learned how to knit when she was young as most of us did but really fell in love and made it her passion at age 21. Now at age 25 she is dying up a storm. While living in Japan she started experimenting with spinning and dying and quickly found herself loaded up with more yarn and hand dyed fiber than she could ever use. Starting with a great base is always a good recipe for a good yarn. This one is no exception. I love the pastel pink and blue she has matched up with the plum purple to give it a fun hand painted look. This is that "Anything" yarn for me. I think it could literally be make into anything!!

You all know me an socks, so yes, I think this would make a stellar pair of socks. And if they were on my needles, you can bet they would be for me. Not gift knitting, way to great of a color for that. lol...

We all love a good self striping sock yarn, right?! This should be in with the best of them. I am so loving how my socks have been knitting up. Fantastic color transitions from one color to another and just the right amount of sparkle. Everyone needs one of these hand wound masterpieces in stash just to show it off.

Happy Monday Readers! I hope you all had a great weekend and that you are in some way inviting Fall into your every day. I figure that if we all start acting like its fall by knitting fall knits, drinking pumpkin tea and doing a bit more baking Fall will eventually come round...we will see.

I am thrilled to be sharing with you our first yarn review of the week.

The Kiwipop Studio is my small Indie Dyeing studio in the woods of Maine where I specialize in individually hand painted yarns and rovings. (Yup, I hand paint EACH skein of yarn and braid of roving one at a time.) "Where Color & Fiber Collide" is my tagline - and for good reason. I love color. The more color the better in my book! I take extreme pride in my color combinations and love taking inspiration from everything around me. Maybe I have some beautiful flowers blooming in my garden, next to my daughter's sweater and against the back drop of a beautiful blue sky. I try to take everything in, write it down and recreate it in my studio.

My studio is located in our home, which is great so that I can be home with our kids. We have a daughter who is in middle school, and our little boy is two years old. My days are filled with laughter, fiber, slinging color, family and a whole bunch of love. I'm super fortunate and blessed to be doing something I love so much each and every day.

Studio Worsted

I have to say that right off I am partial to the colorway name!! Its JOY, this being that my mom; both my girls and my middle name is Joy. You can imagine how tickled I was when I saw such a great color with a meaningful name.

I love the feel of this worsted weight yarn. Great twist and so very soft. It is 100% super wash so it will make for great gift knitting as well as for an kids you might me knitting for this winter. Its so fluffy and warm feeling you will want to make hats and mittens for days! Better make sure that when you order you buy enough for all your gift knitting. It knits up like butter and I really enjoy working with it.

Judy has so many amazing colors to offer and in all different weights you are sure to find a few things you can not live with out. I would just love to get a sweaters quantity of this yarn. I am telling you, you would have no trouble finding a pattern and letting it practically knit its self its so nice.

I have to share with you just one more extra, Judy has some really neat cards. Not only do they have all her contact info, but they are really neat. Extra special touches that really set independent dyers apart.

I am so so so excited to be sharing with you all today the Fantastically talented Sarah, who is the owner and bag maker of Ewe Sew An Sew. Sarah is passionate about creating custom made bags. "Inside fabric is important to me, why should the outside have all the fun!" I love that idea, she takes the time to mix and match until you as the customer is fully satisfied with what you are ordering. Her medium size bag is the PERFECT sock bag! I have a cake of yarn, needles a notions pouch and a sock ruler in mine and it is just the right size. I have been using mine for "Shot Gun" knitting, when my husband drives and the little ones are in the back in car seats. It fits perfectly on the side of me while I just knit away.

The outside and coordinating fabric on the inside are hand matched to give each bag its characteristic look. Each has a theme and is well thought out. Every stitch, seem and join is perfectly crafted. Sarah has a simple little pocket inside on the lining of the bag that is a perfect fit for stitch markers, or notions of any kind. I love that she has a little silver charm on each of the zippers on her bags. Some are a signature sheep and others are made to go with the overall theme of the bag. A classy touch to every bag.

I love the feature of having a zipper tab end on her bags. It is great to have something to hold on to when opening your bag and it is different from most bags that I have seen and I really think its a great feature. Sarah also attaches a simple handle to each bag that is just the right size and complements the bag to its pattern.

This is the "School Teacher" colorway. I think it is a perfect name, all the colors of school supplies and items you might find on a teachers desk. So fitting for all those kiddos that are going back to school.

I love the content and having that silk blended in makes for a strong sock and or for a really silky looking shawl. I really feel that this is a versatile yarn. I could easily see it in socks or a shawl. It would make a great size shawl considering that she has given you an amazing amount of yardage, 600 yards to be exact

Such a fun colorway. You will love going over to Stephanie's shop and seeing her creativity come out in her color choices on all different bases. I am eying a few myself because they are so neat looking!

I was recently introduced to the amazing wool from Jamieson & Smith. I love the tradition of the process of raising, gathering and making of the wool. They do such an amazing job of protecting the wool in its natural state as they do with the process of making the yarn.

Every one who is a sock knitter loves when they find a 'Go To' sport yarn. Socks knit twice as fast, they are thicker and just make for a great boot sock. I love knitting sport weight socks! And because this is a 75/25, you have all the strength in the world with the nylon in them. The yarn its self has a great twist to it that also provides one more element to a great sock yarn.

You all really need to go and try a skein or two of Terri's amazing Sporty Sock. You will be so pleased that you did, I know you will be back for more. She has so many color inspirations to choose from you will be sure to find a few skeins to try out.

This review is not just for knitters, this is a product that I feel anyone can use. I am so excited to share with you my experience with the Gleener.

This is a super user friendly and must have tool for anyone much more a knitter. If you are tired of trying to take care of your hand knits and frustrated with what is on the market today for pill removers, then you are going to want to check this out.

This ergonomic pill removing tool is so simple and so effective to use, you are actually going to enjoy taking care of your garments. It comes with three grades of attachments that can be used on several different fibers and fabric blends. You will be able to clean up anything!

Shown below is a wool sweater with the before and after shot. I have yet to find a pill remover that works this amazing. I really feel that while I was using it, it was not just removing the extra fibers but it was also protecting the integrity of the garment its self. I always have a hard time thinking I'm going to put a hole in my sweater when using a hand held pill shaver, makes me very nervous. No need to worry when using the Gleener.

It also does a fantastic job with lint removal and the newest feature, a removable rubber attachment that is perfect for easy clean up of pet hair. It is so simple and so effective it just makes sense to have one around for many purposes.

As a Mother, wife and Fiber Artist, I would recommend this product hands down! Please take some time to go over to the fantastic website that they have. Instructions on how to use each attachment, with before and after photos and so much more about this must have product.

Hello Readers. I am so happy to be back to share with you yet another fantastic Yarn! I am sure you all have seen this yarn used or have heard the name a few times before, The Uncommon Thread.

"I started The Uncommon Thread in September 2010 after knitting for a few years, then discovering Ravelry and becoming thoroughly addicted – particularly with knitting with luxury hand-dyed yarns. I love colours, texture and I’m passionate about knitting.

We are an artisan company and dye all our yarns lovingly by hand in our studio in Brighton, England. Although still relatively small, we are constantly expanding in order to keep up with the demand for our products.

I aim to source a few unusual, British breed yarns that are often limited editions. These are spun in small mills from small flocks and are very special. But here you’ll also find luxury fibres, such as cashmere, silk, alpaca and merino for your knitting pleasure.

I am very passionate about the environment and aim to minimise the impact I have on it. I simmer the yarns for a long time so that as much dye as possible can bond with the fibres, rather than going down the drain. Our mailing bags are 100% biodegradable and our tags made from 100% post consumer waste – not only that, they are beautiful too! Our British breeds yarns are spun locally, so have few ‘wool miles’ and some are even spun in a mill partly powered by water."

Lovely and round superwash merino yarn. Perfect for all kinds of stuff. Super bouncy!
Although I recommend hand-washing to prolong the life of your knits, this yarn may be machine washed on a gentle wool cycle, then laid flat to dry.

She has such a large color range you are sure to find exactly what you are looking for. This is the perfect yarn for its own project or to be knit up together with another contrasting yarns to show off a pattern or just a good looking stripe. The twist on the yarn is so bouncy and has a great hand while being knit up. I am really enjoying it.

The great part about The Uncommon Thread is that you have every color and weight of yarn right at your finger tips. All you have to do is just go the her extremely user friendly website and start shopping!!! You will be swimming in ideas of what you can do with her amazing yarns.

Happy Monday Readers!! You have no idea how privileged I feel today to be able to feature Savvy Skeins on the blog. I have admired and watched anxiously for a while at the amazing yarn and fiber that has been put out by this dyer.

I feel so honored that Ali has a brand new colorway that I have the opportunity to be the first to share with you! This is one of her kettle dyed speckled yarns that she has named,

Fantasia

Ali has captured the full range of purple and blue in this skein. Starting with the lightest shade of lavender and then plunging into a deep purple/blue that is stunning. To top it all off, she has then over dyed with the magic of her speckling technique. Its just such a versatile colorway that I really think anyone can appreciate and find a use for.

This particular base is made up of Superwash Merino & Nylon. Although you would never know that it had any nylon content to it. It is so soft to the touch and really plush when it is being knit up and running through your fingers. A very enjoyable knit. I can invasion this skein being knit up in to a pair of socks, a baby item, a fingering weight hat or matched up with a sterling silver color and knit into a two color shawl. Really Anything, it will all end up beautiful!!

Well 'Readers,' I'm a day off my game. Moving will do that to you. Please forgive the tardiness of my posting.

What I have in store for you today should more than make up for it. I would say this is the newest- latest & greatest tool in the sock knitting world! Right on top with the invention of self-striping sock yarn and a short-row heel.

This lovely woman is the inventor and creator of The Sock Ruler, Denise.

"I began knitting at the age of five, taught by my Finnish grandmother. Using a child-sized pair of needles I spent countless hours knitting yards and yards of nothing. The love of knitting had not yet been ingrained at that point, as I became interested in trying other artistic endeavors such as paint-by-number kits, sewing doll clothing, making beaded bracelets, learning how to draw horses, and ultimately going to the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. But I digress... at the age of 15 I took up knitting again. The first sweater I knit was a pull-over with a large cowl collar in emerald and black thick-and-thin yarn. I don't know what I was thinking but I wore it proudly. A few years later I tackled a three piece outfit: skirt, vest and cardigan. That was during the time of mini skirts and I believe the skirt might have measured 17 inches. It was a really cute outfit and I still have it. (No, I do not wear it!) Then I knit a pull-over sweater for my father on size 3 needles. My father was not a small person and it took a long time to knit a big sweater on those small needles. I took a little more time off from knitting when I became enchanted with embroidery and began stitching designs on my clothing. That led to many other needle craft and artistic activities until I came back to knitting and embraced it completely.

But what about The Sock Ruler? In the summer of 2012 I had been knitting socks for about two years, becoming increasingly frustrated with the measuring process. Due to the three dimensional quality of a sock, tape measures and rulers were just not cutting it. I could never be sure the measurements were accurate. I needed something I could stick into the sock that would show me a true measurement. I cut out a template from a cardboard cracker box and, aha! It was just perfect! The Sock Ruler flattens out the sock, thereby providing that true measurement I was seeking. Best of all, no more floppy tape measures to deal with! Knitting from the cuff down I could put it inside the sock and see exactly how much further I needed to knit to the start of the heel flap. The rounded end tucked right into the heel so I could measure from the heel to where the toe decrease would begin. It also worked for socks knit from the toe up. I used my cardboard template for two years, all the while thinking that other sock knitters might like it. I took The Sock Ruler to where it is now; it has come a long way from the original cardboard template. I think you will find it as wonderful to use as I do!"

And here you have it, the magic of The Sock Ruler.

Specifically designed so that finding the perfect measurement is no longer a challenge for us knitters. No matter your knitting preferences; toe up, cuff down, short row heel, gusset, all will work when knitting a sock. I love the construction of this tool. It is made from a very sturdy plastic that will not break and can be easily slipped into a knitting bag on the go. One of my own ideas is to utilize the blank back side of the ruler. I have taken measurements of those who I regularly knit for and used a permanent marker to take note and write it on the back. So now, no matter what I can knit the perfect sock every time. Measure the leg or the foot, no matter it will be "The Best Fit you can Knit."

I highly recommend that every knitter get one of these. No more need to have a tape measure any more for socks. This is a must have for every sock knitter. Husbands...this would make a great "Stocking Stuffer" for Christmas. Or should I say, "Ladies" tell your husbands this would make a great stocking stuffer...lol

I am so excited about the amazing bass that she has provided for the review. All I can say is Fall is coming and you will all want to get in on this!

Serendipidye Kings Mountain Worsted

Worsted / 10 ply

100% Merino

217 yards / 100 grams

I am in love first and for most with this stunning shad of pink! Does is get any more "It Girl Pink."
Its a fabulously dyed skein of worsted weight yarn that is unbelievably soft and squishy. All I can think of is to wrap myself in several skeins of this and snuggle up by the fire and knit to my hearts content. This is the perfect worsted weight yarn for ALL of you winter needs; hats, gloves, thick cowls, you name it.

I just can not say enough about this base and the color variety that she offers. You can find almost any shade in her shop and might I say, you will need to pick up a few skeins after you have knit even a few stitches with it. So yummy!

Serendipidye Kings Mountain Sock

Fingering / 4 ply

85% Merino, 15% Nylon

450 yards / 100 grams

This is one of those amazing colors that appears a certain color or shade in one light and then has a uniquely different shade in another light. Its the perfect purple that can be made into anything, combined with many things to just show off a piece in such a way that no other can. Its as soft as it can be and still has its strength with the nylon content. However I would challenge any of you to think that it did not feel like a 100% merino.

Jocelyn has been very gracious with her yardage on this particular base. 450 yards is more than enough for any project and then some. Fantastic bang for your buck, I am very impressed with her work and the care that she puts into her yarns!
