Guide Buying a New Car

2009-09-08T09:14:00.000-07:00

Buying a used car is one of those things where you can either make out like a bandit, or get royally worked over. As the owner of a previous owned vehicle myself, and a person who comes from a long bloodline of used car owners, the advice I have is based on both my own experiences and that of my family, and this information is practically encoded in my DNA.

Price Matters It seems like there is a vortex for used car value, a Bermuda triangle of car-price-to-quality ratio, if you will. You should buy a used car that is either less than $2,000 or more than $6,000. If you are buying a car in this zone, buyer beware. A car worth less than $2,000 is ok because if you ever run into major repair costs, you just walk away from the car and start over with the next $2,000 car. A car worth over $6,000 is ok too, because it is usually going to be worth the cost of most repairs. Cars that fall between $2,000 and $6,000 range that run into major repairs, all of a sudden can have $2-3 thousand tied up in repair work, and at that point you might as well have spent the extra dough to get the $6,000 car.

Looks Should Not Matter It may sound crazy, but some of the best functioning used cars I have seen people buy have also been the most decrepit looking. If you really want value in a used car, the best way to get it is to sacrifice on the appearance of the car. Think about it, if a car looks great, why is such a steal? Well, the seller may know about some pending doom about to befall the car, and is getting out from under it while there is still time. On the other hand, the beat-up old junker’s owner is usually going to be a straight shooter, since a person who is willing to drive such a shabby automobile obviously has little or no pretense. If you can swallow your pride and give a little love to a clunker, you might be rewarded.

Pros and Cons of Buying From Family I bought a 1973 Buick Centurion from my grandfather for $500 to drive for a summer while I was home from college. It was a great deal cause it only had 63,000 miles on it, and I got it for what my grandfather had paid for it. After returning to college back East, my parents burned up their 1980’s Ford Econoline Van, and they ended up buying my Buick from me. I got the same $500 bucks for it. That is the upside of dealing with family. A lot of the time you can get a really fair shake. The downside, now, is that you are in proximity to your former wheels even though you have no control over the car, and despite the fact that you might have some emotional attachment. I had to watch as my beautiful green boat of a car was subjected to abuse. It was not regularly washed or vacuumed. Then my little brother drove it into a cement post and totally crunched in the side of the car that until that point had been impressively straight given the mint of the car.

Eventually, The Depreciation of Cars Reaches an Asymptote Once a car reaches a certain price it can’t really go any lower. If you buy a really cheap car, let’s say you get one for $100 bucks (which my brother did just last year), if you decide to sell it your odds of getting $100 bucks back out of it are pretty good.

Be Careful when buying a used car. And just remember that buying a used car is like taking a toss of the dice, which does not mean you should buy a used car in Las Vegas. It means that it is a bit risky!

The Modern CornMan

2009-09-08T09:13:00.001-07:00

The Modern Conman Collection is an entertaining collection of "how to's" for those interested in petty tricks and subtle human manipulation. Volume one features a couple of no-lose (for the perpetrator) and no-win (for the mark) card games, bar games, challenges and plays on words involving definitional splitting of hairs.

Even for the curious among us who would never actually use any of these tricks this engaging DVD will amuse you for the full run of the video (roughly one half hour). With the no risk trial (you just pay shipping for the first DVD, which is free, and cancel before the second volume comes) you can't lose.

Todd Robbins prefaces the video with the advice that you try these scams on family and friends before trying it on strangers. He also advises you to be careful in how you present these scams (if you are too arrogant or showy you can really make people made).

The scams are relatively simple. After watching the video only once I was able to duplicate two of the scams with no problem. I tried both of these scams on my wife. I was a little too smug with my presentation (going against Todd's advice), which she found very annoying. One trick was a card game, and the other was a game using match sticks. Both were set up so that I could not lose. The trick is getting the other person fooled into thinking the game is legit and that there is a chance for them to win.

Afterward, I tried the match stick game on my wife's eight year-old cousin. She had no problem believing that there was at least some chance that she could win the game, though I don't think that had much to do with my skill at trickery (or lack thereof).

The mechanics of behind the card games and the match trick especially are so simple and yet intriguing. Logic and math oriented types will surely enjoy that aspect of the video.

All that being said about the substance, let's talk a little about the marketing. This video is really heavily marketed toward single men in their twenties. It could play equally well among frat house audiences and recent college grads entering their first jobs. The cover of the DVD (and the website built to market the DVD series) features images of beautiful women, cards, and booze. These same things make appearances in the video once you play the DVD, but as with any good trick, these are merely misdirection to get you to buy into the gimmick, not at all integral to the core substance of the DVD. (For those hoping only to find images of drunken girls stammering around drunk and losing all their money at the card table, let me give you a big head's up. You will be disappointed big time with the Modern Conman Collection Volume 1. Conversely, women worried about portrayals of young ladies being exploited for commercial gain, you can put your mind at ease, because this DVD is free from any of that stuff.) The fact of the matter is that taken out of the bar-room setting and into the back-yard of family home, many of these tricks could play equally well to the crowd at a little kid's birthday party.

Final analysis: The fact of the matter is that people love tricks, from the biggest magic displays on down. And the Modern Conman Collection: Volume 1 Starring Todd Robbins has just the right mix of magic.

Final Grade: Final Grade an A-/A, awarded with a smile

Michael Jackson Dead at 50

2009-06-25T21:07:00.000-07:00

LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop" who once moonwalked above the music world, died Thursday as he prepared for a comeback bid to vanquish nightmare years of sexual scandal and financial calamity. He was 50.

Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his rented home in Holmby Hills. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him at his home for nearly three-quarters of an hour, then rushed him to the hospital, where doctors continued to work on him.

"It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. However, the cause of his death is unknown until results of the autopsy are known," his brother Jermaine said. Police said they were investigating, standard procedure in high-profile cases.

Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.

At the time of his death, Jackson was rehearsing hard for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, with the first set for July 13.

As word of his death spread, MTV switched its programming to play videos from Jackson's heyday. Radio stations began playing marathons of his hits. Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital. In New York's Times Square, a low groan went up in the crowd when a screen flashed that Jackson had died, and people began relaying the news to friends by cell phone.

"No joke. King of Pop is no more. Wow," Michael Harris, 36, of New York City, read from a text message a friend had sent him. "It's like when Kennedy was assassinated. I will always remember being in Times Square when Michael Jackson died."

The public first knew him as a boy in the late 1960s, when he was the precocious, spinning lead singer of the Jackson 5, the singing group he formed with his four older brothers out of Gary, Ind. Among their No. 1 hits were "I Want You Back," "ABC" and "I'll Be There."

He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his backward-gliding moonwalk, his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves and his high-pitched singing, punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove, tight, military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses were trademarks, as was his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.

"For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words," said Quincy Jones, who produced "Thriller." "He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I've lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him."

Jackson ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensations of all time. He united two of music's biggest names when he was briefly married to Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie, and Jackson's death immediately evoked comparisons to that of Presley himself, who died at age 42 in 1977.

As years went by, Jackson became an increasingly freakish figure — a middle-aged man-child weirdly out of touch with grown-up life. His skin became lighter, his nose narrower, and he spoke in a breathy, girlish voice. He often wore a germ mask while traveling, kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions, and surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch, a storybook playland filled with toys, rides and animals. The tabloids dubbed him "Wacko Jacko."

"It seemed to me that his internal essence was at war with the norms of the world. It's as if he was trying to defy gravity," said Michael Levine, a Hollywood publicist who represented Jackson in the early 1990s. He called Jackson a "disciple of P.T. Barnum" and said the star appeared fragile at the time but was "much more cunning and shrewd about the industry than anyone knew."

Jackson caused a furor in 2002 when he playfully dangled his infant son, Prince Michael II, over a hotel balcony in Berlin while a throng of fans watched from below.

In 2005, he was cleared of charges he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at Neverland in 2003. He had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him, and of engaging in strange and inappropriate behavior with other children.

The case followed years of rumors about Jackson and young boys. In a TV documentary, he acknowledged sharing his bed with children, a practice he described as sweet and not at all sexual.

Despite the acquittal, the lurid allegations that came out in court took a fearsome toll on his career and image, and he fell into serious financial trouble.

Michael Joseph Jackson was born Aug. 29, 1958, in Gary. He was 4 years old when he began singing with his brothers — Marlon, Jermaine, Jackie and Tito — in the Jackson 5. After his early success with bubblegum soul, he struck out on his own, generating innovative, explosive, unstoppable music.

The album "Thriller" alone mixed the dark, serpentine bass and drums and synthesizer approach of "Billie Jean," the grinding Eddie Van Halen solo on "Beat It," and the hiccups and falsettos on "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'."

The peak may have come in 1983, when Motown celebrated its 25th anniversary with an all-star televised concert and Jackson moonwalked off with the show, joining his brothers for a medley of old hits and then leaving them behind with a pointing, crouching, high-kicking, splay-footed, crotch-grabbing run through "Billie Jean."

The audience stood and roared. Jackson raised his fist.

By then he had cemented his place in pop culture. He got the plum Scarecrow role in the 1978 movie musical "The Wiz," a pop-R&B version of "The Wizard of Oz," that starred Diana Ross as Dorothy.

During production of a 1984 Pepsi commercial, Jackson's scalp sustains burns when an explosion sets his hair on fire.

He had strong follow-up albums with 1987's "Bad" and 1991's "Dangerous," but his career began to collapse in 1993 after he was accused of molesting a boy who often stayed at his home. The singer denied any wrongdoing, reached a settlement with the boy's family, reported to be $20 million, and criminal charges were never filed.

Jackson's expressed anger over the allegations on the 1995 album "HIStory," which sold more than 2.4 million copies, but by then, the popularity of Jackson's music was clearly waning, even as public fascination with his increasingly erratic behavior was growing.

Jackson married Lisa Marie Presley in 1994, and they divorced in 1996. Later that year, Jackson married Deborah Rowe, a former nurse for his dermatologist. They had two children together: Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., known as Prince Michael, and Paris Michael Katherine Jackson. Rowe filed for divorce in 1999.

Cardiac arrest is an abnormal heart rhythm that stops the heart from pumping blood to the body. It can occur after a heart attack or be caused by other heart problems.

Billboard magazine editorial director Bill Werde said Jackson's star power was unmatched. "The world just lost the biggest pop star in history, no matter how you cut it," Werde said. "He's literally the king of pop."

Jackson's 13 No. 1 one hits on the Billboard charts put him behind only Presley, the Beatles and Mariah Carey, Werde said.

"He was on the eve of potentially redeeming his career a little bit," he said. "People might have started to think of him again in a different light."

Pseudocyesis show The False Pregnancy Symptoms

Pseudocyesis False Pregnancy Sympton

Signs and symptoms

The symptoms of pseudocyesis are similar to the symptoms of true pregnancy and are often hard to distinguish from it. Such natural signs asamenorrhoea, morning sickness, tender breasts, and weight gain may all be present. Many health care professionals can be deceived by the symptoms associated with pseudocyesis. Research shows that 18% of women with pseudocyesis were at one time diagnosed as pregnant by medical professionals.

The hallmark sign of pseudocyesis that is common to all cases is that the affected patient is convinced that she is pregnant. Abdominal distension is the most common physical symptom of pseudocyesis (60– 90%). The abdomen expands in the same manner as it does during pregnancy, so that the affected woman looks pregnant. These symptoms often resolve under general anesthesia and the woman's abdomen returns to its normal size.

Pseudocyesis called spurious pregnancy, feigned pregnancy, imaginary pregnancy, hysterical pregnancy, phantom pregnancy and grossesse nerveuse ("mental pregnancy"). John Mason Good coined the term pseudocyesis from the Greek words pseudes (false) and kyesis (pregnancy) in 1923.

Pseudocyesis Signs:

Amenorrhoea
Morning Sickness
Tender Breasts
Hypothalamo Pituitary Adrenal Axis
Weight gain and the movement of intestinal gas
Constipation

Pseudocyesis Symptoms:

Delay/Difference in Menstruation
Implantation Bleeding
Nausea/Morning Sickness
Tender, Swollen Breasts
Fatigue
Increased Sensitivity to Tastes or Odours
Frequent Urination
Abdominal Bloating
Food Cravings
Elevated Basal Body Temperature

Pseudocyesis Treatment:

Pregnancy symptoms can vary widely from woman to woman. There are no general recommendations regarding treatment with medications. In some cases, the patient may be given medications for such symptoms as the cessation of menstruation. Because most patients with pseudocyesis have underlying psychological problems. The treatment that has had the most success is demonstrating to the patient that she is not really pregnant by the use of ultrasound or other imaging techniques.

Brad Pitt tops ”Most Dangerous Celebrities To Search For On The Web” list

2009-05-28T18:45:00.000-07:00

Melbourne, Sept 17 (ANI): Want to download a Brad Pitt screen saver? Well, you may be putting your PC at risk.

The Hollywood hearthrob has been dubbed the most dangerous celebrity to search for on the web by an Internet security firm because cybercriminals use his name to lure victims.

US-based McAfee said fans searching for information and pictures of the actor, or downloads, wallpaper and screen savers, have an 18 per cent chance of having their PCs infected with a virus, spyware, spam, phishing and adware.

“Cybercriminals employ numerous methods, yet one of the simplest but most effective ways is to trick consumers into infecting themselves by capitalising on Americans” interest in celebrity gossip,” The Age.com.au quoted Jeff Green, senior vice president of McAfee’’s Product Development & Avert Labs, as saying.

“Tapping into current events, pop culture or commonly browsed sites is an easy way to achieve this,” he added.

According to the company, web surfers looking for celebrity gossip, screen savers and ringtones are often directed to fake Internet sites that look legitimate but pose a risk to the security of their computers.

The top ten most dangerous celebrity to search for on the web are:
1. Brad Pitt
2. Beyonce Knowles
3. Justin Timberlake
4. Heidi Montag
5. Mariah Carey
6. Jessica Alba
7. Lindsay Lohan
8. Cameron Diaz
9. George Clooney, Rihanna
11. Angelina Jolie
12. Fergie
13. David Beckham, Katie Holmes

Dignitaries, celebrities up front for oath-taking

2009-05-28T18:07:00.000-07:00

From the best seats in the house, Barack Obama's inauguration proved to be a mix of serious reflection and fraternity-like ribbing with a dash of celebrity gazing.

A select group of 400, warmed by individual blue blankets, sat on the platform to witness history up close. Folding chairs were standard for most; only the principals such as Obama and former President George W. Bush sat on cushioned, highback chairs. Obama family and friends, members of past and soon-to-be administrations, Supreme Court justices, lawmakers and stars of Hollywood and sports were arrayed in rows beyond the podium.

Moments proved poignant, somber and funny.

There was Muhammad Ali, the boxing legend whose own oratory skills have forever been changed by Parkinson's disease, getting help from a family member who tried to put warm gloves on those famous hands.

There was actor Leonardo DiCaprio, playing paparazzo and taking photographs. Academy-award winning director Steven Spielberg also was camera-ready.

There was California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger comparing notes with former Gov. Gray Davis while standing in the aisle in the risers near the main platform. Asked to move, Schwarzenegger jokingly told a young woman, "We're solving a budget crisis."

California is facing a budget deficit that is expected to exceed $40 billion over the next year and a half.

The nation's governors who attended proved to be a frisky lot. Seat in several rows on the left side, just above the main platform, they decided to have some fun when Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, Obama's choice to head the Department of Homeland Security, showed up.

"Hey, Janet," they called out in unison.

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine explained that Napolitano once headed the National Governor's Association and they wanted to get her attention.

The memorable moment for Kaine was the stretch of Obama's speech when the new president spoke to the world "so powerful," Kaine said. "The people and the world are paying so much attention."

Scores of senators wore cowboy hats, from Montana's Sen. Max Baucus to Pennsylvania's Arlen Specter. Arizona Sen. John McCain, the man Obama defeated to win the presidency, skipped the hat but chose distinctive black shades.

Former basketball star Magic Johnson posed for photographs with many of those in attendance, including a governor or two.

New York Rep. Gary Ackerman was the first lawmaker to arrive, and he immediately claimed one of the best seats on the platform directly next to the steps, front row. To avoid the traffic crush, Ackerman said he and his wife slept at his office.

Asked if he was taking that prime seat, Ackerman told a congressional aide, "Yes, we could and yes, I am."

Tracy Lawrence, Tracy Byrd, Pat Green, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long and More

to Appear At Inaugural Event For The Benefit of Fourth And Goal and NFL Retirees

NASHVILLE, TN (May 21, 2008)—John Hannah (John Hannah Entertainment and member of the Fourth and Goal Board of Directors) is pleased to introduce Smith & Nephew as the title sponsor of the inaugural Fourth & Goal Classic—a two-day charity event for the benefit of Fourth and Goal, an independent national non-profit public benefit corporation established as the official “Voice” of the NFL retiree and to provide financial assistance to retired NFL players and their families who are in immediate need.

The Smith & Nephew Fourth & Goal Classic (presented by Showboat Casino Hotel in conjunction with Harrah’s Entertainment), will be held June 27 and 28, 2008 at the House of Blues at Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. The event kicks off Friday evening, June 27, with a VIP Opening Reception. Saturday’s fun-filled schedule will boast a Celebrity Golf Tournament (at the prestigious Atlantic City Country Club), Meet and Greet and a live concert to close out the festivities on Saturday evening.

“We cannot think of a better partner in this event,” John Hannah said. “Smith & Nephew’s overall services are stellar in coming to the aid of millions in need and their commitment to sponsor this event speaks volumes in their support of our efforts to lend a hand of assistance to our friends in the NFL.”

Smith & Nephew is an industry leader in orthopaedic reconstruction, orthopaedic trauma & clinical therapies, endoscopy and advanced wound management. Its pioneering technologies have enabled nurses, surgeons and other medical practitioners to provide effective treatment quickly and economically.

“I have watched with heartfelt interest the unfortunate situation surrounding the retired NFL players and Fourth and Goal’s initiative to offer assistance,” said Joseph M. DeVivo, president of Smith & Nephew Reconstruction & Trauma business unit. “Helping people return to an active lifestyle and to pursue their passions is what we do. Our stepping forward to join them in their efforts is naturally fitting and we are honored and excited as an organization to be part of it.”

Established by former NFL great, Bruce Laird, Fourth and Goal is 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to representing retired NFL players to advocate and raise funds for improved pension and disability benefits and to provide immediate assistance to retired players in need, to their spouses and their families. Fourth and Goal’s charge is to enhance and improve the existing pension and disability program and substantiate representation for the league’s retired players.

Exclusive to the Fourth & Goal Classic, Tracy Lawrence, Tracy Bryd and Pat Green will come together in a special one-time only performance for the benefit of Fourth and Goal. The leading men of country will take the stage at the House of Blues Music Hall to perform Saturday evening, June 28. Special guest, Rachel Bradshaw [the 20-year-old daughter of legendary NFL quarterback and FOX NFL SUNDAY celebrity co-host Terry Bradshaw] will make her Atlantic City debut at the Smith & Nephew Fourth & Goal Classic. Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long (Former Defensive Lineman for the Oakland Raiders and Pro Football Hall of Famer) will host.

NFL celebrities and Pro Football Hall of Famers who are expected to attend or participate in the golf tournament include: Brian Baldinger/Philadelphia Eagles, Steve Bartkowski/Atlanta Falcons, Elvin Bethea/Houston Oilers, Terry Bradshaw/Pittsburgh Steelers, Harry Carson/New York Giants, Joe DeLamielleure/Buffalo Bills, Ted Hendricks/Oakland Raiders, Ron Jaworski/Philadelphia Eagles, Joe Klecko/New York Jets, Jerry Kramer/Green Bay Packers, Bob Kutchenberg/Miami Dolphins, Eddie Kyatt/Philadelphia Eagles, Bruce Laird/Baltimore Colts, Larry Little/Miami Dolphins, Howie Long/Oakland Raiders, Marty Lyons/New York Jets, Tom Mack/Los Angeles Rams, Don Maynard/St. Louis Cardinals, Beasley Reece/New York Giants, Pete Retzlaff/Philadelphia Eagles, Bob St. Claire/San Francisco 49ers, Charlie Sanders/Detroit Lions, Tony Siragusa/Baltimore Ravens, Dwight Stephenson/Miami Dolphins, Andre Tippet/New England Patriots, Charlie Waters/Dallas Cowboys, Roger Wehrli/St. Louis Cardinals, Kellen Winslow/San Diego Chargers, Frank Winters/Green Bay Packers, Ron Yary/Los Angeles Rams, Garo Yepremian/Miami Dolphins, and Jack Youngblood/Los Angeles Rams.

MORE ON FOURTH AND GOAL

Fourth and Goal has an a three-part initiative: 1) to secure funds for retired players in immediate need, 2) to reform, improve and update the pension plan system currently in place and 3) to garner representation for retired players by the NFL Player’s Association to insure the retired players will get the care they need.

A community of NFL players, Fourth and Goal works diligently to raise public awareness surrounding these issues by conducting informational media interviews and working in cooperation with other like-minded organizations to improve the lives of retired players who worked to make the league what it is today.

The organization’s charge included the formation of the 88 Plan (named after ex-Colt, John Mackey). The 88 Plan benefits retired players who, like Mackey, suffer from dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Through its fund-raising efforts to date, Fourth and Goal has come to the aid of Larry Morris (formerly of the Chicago Bears and MVP of the 1963 NFL championship game) who now suffers from dementia • Wayne Hawkins (Oakland Raiders) who suffers from early-onset Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia • Brent Boyd, who, after a 6-year career with the Minnesota Vikings, suffers from severe football-related illnesses • Suzie Heywood, whose late husband Ralph Heywood (the only NFL player to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces in three wars–World War II, Korea and Vietnam) passed away due to complications from Alzheimer’s in April 2007. (Mrs. Heywood sold the couple’s ranch and possessions and moved into a horse trailer in order to afford the care her husband needed.) • Syndi Shy, widow of Don Shy. Don was the first-round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1967. During his seven-year NFL career, he played for the Steelers, the Chicago Bears, the St. Louis Cardinals and the New Orleans Saints. Don died from brain tumors in October 2006 at the of age 61.

Maxie Baughan, Joe DeLamielleure, John Hannah, Sam Havrilak, Sam Huff, Bruce Laird, Mercury Morris, Jim Mutscheller, Jeff Nixon and Charlie Waters serve on Fourth and Goal’s Board of Directors.

10 Tactics How To Download Tons of Top Quality Products For Free

NOTE : This tutorial is for Educational Purposes Only.
Before you start Please make sure you will Hide your IP and dowload firefox. DO NOT DO ANY OF THE METHODS before getting the tools. I assume you will be using Firefox. I am not a fan of Internet Explorer. So if you do use IE, please get Firefox as I am not sure if these tools work with IE or not.
Hide My IP 2007
You will need this software because you do not want to leave your IP behind and you want to stay behind the proxy and Hide My IP 2007 is the best one available to be honest. Use Google Search To Download “Hide My IP 2007”
After downloading, Install the Hide My IP 2007 and change your IP address. Now we must check if our IP changed go to http://cmyip.com and see if your IP has changed. Once done you may proceed to do the tactics below.

TACTIC 1
Rather easy method, but still this works for most of the sites. Its good to have an arsenal of all the methods so that you can try all of them to get an ebook. Well the first method is basically the old “site” synxtax used in search engines. So say you want a product from a site
Code: www.mysite.com and they have a pdf or something, you will just head over to Google, and type
Code: Site: www.mysite.com
now if the site is indexed you will have the url for the pdf file or the zip or whatever it is. You can do this on Google, Yahoo and Alexa, I have used AltaVista in the past also, so you can try all of them. This method rather easy works on some sites thare are har d to get even with advance methods. So here is the first method the “site” command in Google and other sites.. REMEMBER TRY ALL THE SEARCH SITES I TOLD. SOMETIMES YAHOO SHOWS more results than Google. And vice versa.

TACTIC 2
Another easy method, this one requires a guess work of the pdf or zip or exe file. For example say you were looking for a book on Code: www.contentpro.com now you gotta guess the pdf file if the site is selling a pdf file just give the pdf file a guess in this case I might go for contentpro.pdf on Google and do a search and all other sites, and see what is the r esult. If I dont get anything I will do conpro.pdf or contpro.pdf or procontent.pdf, you get the idea. Now in some cases this method alone can find you the ebook or product you are looking for, it has some limitaton but in most cases it wor ks like a magic. Again try it on all sites, try it with dashes, underscores and few other add ons.

TACTIC 3
This method requires you to have some knowledge of p2p sites and softwares. My favourite ones happen to be IRC->DC++->Emule–>Torrent–>Limewire. What you can do is look around these places for the pdf file. You can find some on IRC and sometimes on DC++ or emule or Torrent, I have yet to find some stuff on Limewire or torrent but you can always check it out.

TACTIC 4
SEARCH TACTICS
In this tactic we will try to get a very popular Keyword Searching Tool “Keyword Elite”.
First step is go to http://www.filez.com or http://rapidshare-search-engine.com then search a keyword for the product that we want. So now I will search for the keyword “keyword elite” and walla… check the rapidshare links below and the download it.
Easy Right?
If you are not lucky enough to find the product then here’s something that will help you. Go to http://alexa.com and search for “thank you for your purchase [keyword] ” without the quotes(”) example: thank you for your purchase [adsense]

TACTIC 5
just go to the victim : www.example-domain.com put in robots.txt
example : www.example-domain.com/robots.txt you will see
# robots.txt for http://www.example-domain.com/
User-agent: *
Disallow: /downld/downld.html
Disallow: /downld/a-nbsd
Disallow: /downld/b-34v8
Disallow: /downld/c-ksajfk
then you try below links, you might find goodies there
http://www.example-domain.com/downld/downld.html
http://www.example-domain.com/downld/a- nbsd
http://www.example-domain.com/downld/b-34v8
http://www.example-domain.com/downld/c-ksajfk
But it is based on luck!

TACTIC 6
(Google / Yahoo / MSN and Other Search Engine): Try Following terms in the various Search Engine:
inurl:”cbreceipt”
inurl:thankyou
site:domain.com
domain.com.robots.txt
Thank you for your order + download
Congratulations on your investment
Topic filetype: pdf (where topic is what you are searching for & no space in front of pdf)
“this order button requires a javascr ipt enabled br owser”
thank you “Clk*Bank.com”
thank you “ClkBank.com”
“A syntax error has occurred” filetype:ihtml
(password|passcode)(username|userid|user) filetype:csv
intitle:index-of last-modified pr ivate
intitle:index.of ws_ftp.ini
To find weak servers try search for: intitle:”the page cannot be found” inetmgr
for chat logs search for: something “has quit” “has joined” filetype:txt
Replace something with the thing you are looking for.

On Yahoo search for:
link:domain.com
intitle:nameproduct intext:http://rapidshare
This gives links from warez sites.

Winter Blast Indiana - Road Condition

2007-12-16T07:00:00.000-08:00

WTHR-TV

updated 9:13 a.m. ET Dec. 16, 2007

Indianapolis - The snow arrived Saturday morning, and it was only the beginning of a pre-Christmas winter blast.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for much of Central Indiana through Sunday afternoon. Several inches are expected in the metro area by Saturday afternoon, with a sleet/snow mix expected later. Heavy snow is expected overnight with totals as high as 17 inches in areas to the north of Marion County.

We'll see the first band of snow pass through Central Indiana Saturday morning, with about one to three inches falling, some areas picking up four. SkyTrak Weather says we should see a break this afternoon before freezing rain, sleet and snow develop for tonight and early Sunday morning.

Wind gusts to 35 and 45 mph on Sunday morning could make for blizzard like conditions. Areas that see all snow and no ice could pick up 10-17 inches. This area includes just to the north of I-70. Along and south of I-70 6-12 inches is possible along with significant freezing rain and sleet. Our far southern counties will see about 4-8 inches due to a lot of ice and rain. Some areas in Hamilton County could see the greater snow amounts.

CLOSINGS AND DELAYS

Stay tuned to Eyewitness News and WTHR.com for the latest updates on the storm, as well as closings and delays. Sign up for your Personal Forecast from WTHR.com to stay on top of the weather. And when it's all over, head outside and snap a few pictures for our photo gallery.

Ice wreaks havoc on roadways

Around 3:00 pm, the snowfall that blanketed the area turned to a light rain. By the late evening hours, the rain had begun to freeze on windshields in the downtown area, and some roads on the north side had become icy. The far northwest corner of Interstate 465 was closed around 9:45 Saturday night, and two southbound lanes of the outerbelt near I-70 on the east side closed due to a crash shortly before 11 pm.

In Carmel, a van crashed into a pond at 141st Street and Towne Road, apparently trapping four people inside. Crews transported the victims to the hospital and remain on the scene. There is no report on the condition of the passengers, which witnesses say included an adult and three children.

Further north, there were reports of ice on I-65 toward Lebanon causing at least one accident. At 11 pm, the freezing rain and ice extended north from south of Indianapolis to Frankfort. North of the rain was heavy snow. Meteorologist Jude Redfield says the freezing rain will continue until 2 am before temperatures get cold enough for the precipitation to turn to snow. The storm is now forecast to leave 5 to 9 inches of snow on the ground around central Indiana, including what fell Saturday morning.

In addition to the precipitation, winds picking up to between 25 and 40 miles an hour could create blizzard-like conditions in the morning into the early afternoon.

Snow gives way to ice in the afternoon

At around 9:30 am, traffic on I-65 was smooth, although the snowfall was picking up and the wind got stronger. State police reported several slide-offs on different parts of the interstates and in the metro area.

State and county road crews started working Friday to prepare the roads. In Indianapolis, some 75 Department of Public Works drivers are planning for 12-hour shifts and began dropping salt on roads before the snow started falling. The state used liquid salt brine to get ahead of predictions for impending ice. Around 60 INDOT trucks will be out, as well as 300 in the central Indiana area.

"Typically the worst is when the snow is falling heavily. So take a look outside the window and if possible try to squeeze your Christmas shopping in when it's not falling from the sky," said Paul Whitmore, Department of Public Works.

Many drivers were heeding that advice as they headed to the mall or grocery store early Saturday morning. Some hardware stores reported that they had already sold out of snowblowers.

INDOT plans to have Hoosier Helpers on patrol on the Interstate system within Marion County to assist motorists that get stranded in the storm.

Anderson vehicle order

Anderson Mayor Kevin S. Smith has asked all city residents to remove their vehicles from city streets, if possible, in anticipation of a major snowstorm that is expected to develop Saturday. If all vehicles can be moved to driveways or other private property, the city's snow emergency task force will be better able to clear streets and roadways. See the city website for updates.

Emergency declarations

Indiana has a new standardized system to report across the state during severe weather and other hazardous situations if it includes snowstorms and tornadoes, floods, fires, utility failures, major accidents, public health energies and even acts of terrorism.

Before this year, each of Indiana's 92 counties reported conditions differently making it difficult to give an appropriate response in a timely manner. Now the system includes one easy to read statewide map that can be posted here and allows for quick emergency declarations meaning a quicker response for those who need help.

ISP offers winter driving tips

The combination of snow, freezing rain, ice and wind can cause driving conditions to change quickly. To help Hoosiers prepare for this winter storm, the Indiana State Police offers the following safety tips.

Be prepared:

Before traveling, check the forecast and let someone know your travel route.
Keep your gas tank at least half-full.
Carry a winter driving kit that should include blankets, flashlight, extra batteries, a brightly colored cloth, sand (or cat litter), shovel, candle, matches, non-perishable high calorie food, first aid kit, and jumper cables.
Slow down on snow/ice covered roads.
Allow extra time to arrive at your destination.
Clear all windows of ice and snow and remove snow from hood, roof, and lights.
Use extra caution when driving across bridges, underpasses, shaded areas and intersections where ice is slow to melt.
Avoid abrupt stops and starts. Slow down gradually and keep wheels turning to avoid loosing traction.
Use low beam headlights to decrease glare from ice.

Should you become stranded:

Don't leave your car. It's the best protection you have.
Tie a brightly colored cloth to your antenna.
Roll down your window a small amount.
Keep the exhaust pipe free of blockage to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
Don't panic. An idling car uses only one gallon of gas per hour.

A four-wheel drive vehicle may keep you from being stuck in deep snow or aid in acceleration during slippery road conditions, but it will not allow you to stop any quicker. Slow down and allow yourself plenty of stopping distance.

For Indiana road conditions between December 1 and April 1, call 317-232-8298 or 800-261-7623 or visit the state police web site.

Changing climate runs hot and cold

2007-12-13T18:12:00.000-08:00

By Adam Morton
December 14, 2007

IT HAS been the seventh warmest year on record, part of the hottest decade on record, but 2007, or at least its first 11 months, was also a time of climactic extremes.

It included record-low ice levels in the Arctic and a Western Australian summer five degrees hotter than average, yet also Australia's coldest June in recorded history.

According to a preliminary World Meteorological Organisation report released in Bali overnight, overall rising temperatures contrasted with an Australian June 1.5 degrees below average and an unusually cold South American winter that brought winds, blizzards and snowfall in unlikely places.

Other remarkable climatic events included the development of La Nina - a drop in sea surface temperature in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific by more than half a degree - and devastating floods, drought and storms across the globe.

Sea levels continued to rise substantially faster than the 20th century average of 1.7 millimetres a year - the current level is about 20 centimetres higher than the 1870 estimate, rising at about three millimetres a year since 1993. And the global average surface temperature has risen by 0.74 degrees since 1900, increasing at a much faster rate in the second half of the century.

The report, including data to the end of November, comes a month after the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change described the evidence for man-made global warming as "unequivocal". It projected global temperatures increasing 1.1 to 6.4 degrees and sea levels rising by 18 to 59 centimetres this century, coinciding with worsening glacial melting, extreme weather conditions, water stress, hunger and disease.

The analysis is principally based on data collected by the UK Meteorological Office and the University of East Anglia. A second set of data in the report, by the US Department of Commerce, suggests 2007 may be the fifth warmest year globally.

Scientists yesterday said the record pace of ice melt in the Arctic Circle - allowing ships to sail for the first time through the Canadian Northwest Passage - was the latest sign that climate change was accelerating.

"In 2007, we had off-the-charts warming," University of Washington oceanographer Michael Steele said.

Donald Perovich of the US Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory in New Hampshire, said an ice sheet about the size of the US covered the North Pole in the summer of 1980, but this northern summer the ice would not have covered the states west of the Mississippi River. As temperatures in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans have risen, warmer water has moved into the Arctic Ocean, helping melt the polar icecap, which this year floated in water about 3.5 degrees warmer than the historical average.

As more of the Arctic Ocean has been exposed, it has absorbed the extra sunrays, further hastening the rise in temperature.

Mr Perovich said: "It's a classic positive feedback. And these feedbacks are important from a climate perspective, because they can take small changes and amplify them."

Julianna Fessenden of the Los Alamos National Laboratory said it would be another 10 years before the first geosequestration plant allowing carbon dioxide from coal-fired power plants to be stored under ground, comes online.

ATLANTA - Bobby Petrino resigned as Atlanta Falcons coach on Tuesday after only 13 games with the NFL team, and within hours returned to the college ranks as coach at the University of Arkansas.

"Today was a day of decision," Petrino said. "It was difficult on one side, very easy on the other. It was difficult to leave Atlanta, the staff, players, fans. The timing of it was probably the thing that made it most difficult. Coming to Arkansas was the easy part."

Petrino left the University of Louisville to become Falcons coach in January for a US$24-million, five-year contract, largely because Atlanta felt he could help star quarterback Michael Vick reach his full potential.

However, Vick came under investigation for a grisly dogfighting operation that eventually led him to plead guilty to federal charges. He was sentenced on Monday to 23 months in prison without ever taking a snap for Petrino.

That night, Atlanta lost its fourth straight game 34-14 to the New Orleans Saints and hours later Petrino left the team with a 3-10 record.

Other than confirming his resignation, the Falcons declined further comment on Petrino until a Wednesday news conference with owner Arthur Blank and general manager Rich McKay.

There was no immediate word who would take over as head coach for the final three games.

Petrino was hired at Arkansas to succeed Houston Nutt, who stepped down two weeks ago and became the head coach at University of Mississippi.

After losing Vick, Petrino tried three other starting quarterbacks without success. The Falcons are assured of the 32nd non-winning season in their 42-year NFL history.

Petrino's stint was one of the shortest for a non-interim coach since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger. Pete McCulley was fired after starting 1-8 with San Francisco in 1978, and Sid Gillman lasted only 10 games in his second stint as San Diego coach, going 4-6 in 1971 before quitting.

Petrino assembled one of college football's highest-scoring offences at Louisville, but the Falcons were anemic without Vick. They also were plagued by injuries on the offensive line, which forced them to start two players who weren't even drafted out of college.

The resignation had to be a major surprise to Blank, who fired Jim Mora just two seasons after he led the Falcons to the NFC championship game, and lured Petrino with a lucrative contract.

Before Monday's game, Blank said he felt better than ever about his decision to hire Petrino given all the adversity the team faced this season.

But there were signs of dissension, especially in the way Petrino dealt with his players.

He ran the team with an aloof style, feeling no reason to share his decisions on personnel with the affected players. He could walk through the locker room without speaking to anyone and was openly criticized by two of the team's stars, Pro Bowlers Alge Crumpler and DeAngelo Hall.

Petrino drew the ire of the veterans with his decision to cut nose tackle Grady Jackson, one of the team's most productive defensive linemen, during the bye week. Quarterback Joey Harrington was clearly perturbed a few weeks ago when, after leading the Falcons to two straight wins, he heard from the media that Petrino still considered injury prone Byron Leftwich the starter.

The 7 December 1941 Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor was one of the great defining moments in history. A single carefully-planned and well-executed stroke removed the United States Navy's battleship force as a possible threat to the Japanese Empire's southward expansion. America, unprepared and now considerably weakened, was abruptly brought into the Second World War as a full combatant.

Eighteen months earlier, President Franklin D. Roosevelt had transferred the United States Fleet to Pearl Harbor as a presumed deterrent to Japanese agression. The Japanese military, deeply engaged in the seemingly endless war it had started against China in mid-1937, badly needed oil and other raw materials. Commercial access to these was gradually curtailed as the conquests continued. In July 1941 the Western powers effectively halted trade with Japan. From then on, as the desperate Japanese schemed to seize the oil and mineral-rich East Indies and Southeast Asia, a Pacific war was virtually inevitable.

By late November 1941, with peace negotiations clearly approaching an end, informed U.S. officials (and they were well-informed, they believed, through an ability to read Japan's diplomatic codes) fully expected a Japanese attack into the Indies, Malaya and probably the Philippines. Completely unanticipated was the prospect that Japan would attack east, as well.

The U.S. Fleet's Pearl Harbor base was reachable by an aircraft carrier force, and the Japanese Navy secretly sent one across the Pacific with greater aerial striking power than had ever been seen on the World's oceans. Its planes hit just before 8AM on 7 December. Within a short time five of eight battleships at Pearl Harbor were sunk or sinking, with the rest damaged. Several other ships and most Hawaii-based combat planes were also knocked out and over 2400 Americans were dead. Soon after, Japanese planes eliminated much of the American air force in the Philippines, and a Japanese Army was ashore in Malaya.

These great Japanese successes, achieved without prior diplomatic formalities, shocked and enraged the previously divided American people into a level of purposeful unity hardly seen before or since. For the next five months, until the Battle of the Coral Sea in early May, Japan's far-reaching offensives proceeded untroubled by fruitful opposition. American and Allied morale suffered accordingly. Under normal political circumstances, an accomodation might have been considered.

However, the memory of the "sneak attack" on Pearl Harbor fueled a determination to fight on. Once the Battle of Midway in early June 1942 had eliminated much of Japan's striking power, that same memory stoked a relentless war to reverse her conquests and remove her, and her German and Italian allies, as future threats to World peace.
