Come to see it in Florence on the eastern Sunday! The ancient Florentine “Lo Scoppio del Carro” goes on stage In Duomo plaza, under the Brunnelleschi’s Dom. At 11 am, from the Main Altar of the Cathedral, the “Colombina” burns the cart with the holy fire (a medieval construction) as sign of Joy for the resurrection of Jesus and as good omen for an abundant Spring and Summer time harvest. The fire has been brought to Florence by Pazzino de Pazzi from the Christ Sepulcher  at the end of the First Crusade.

The Explosion of the Cart is preceded by a  costume procession with the banner of Florence and the Pazzi family flag on top of it.

The concert of “The Swingle Singers” will take place on Tuesday 16th, the glorious complex of eight vocalists that from more than 40 years fascinates audiences around the world, represents another valid alternative to spend Carnival. The impeccable technique, armony and fusion of musical timbres allow to Swingles to have a repertoire that passes from Bach to Jazz, from french madrigalists to Duke Ellington, from Mozart and Grshwin to Berio, Corghi and Boulez.
