How-To: Sound Like You Watch Lost, Even If You Don't

You guys all know that I've been a die-hard Lost fanatic since day one, but I know that not everyone is in my boat (or should I say "on my island." Groan). I love watching the show with friends and spending the next day theorizing — but I also sympathize with the many of you out there who just don't get what the excitement is all about.It might be a little too late to start watching the series, but who says you can't fake it? Here are a few tips for you to impress your friends, socialize at Lost viewing parties, or ways to steer the conversation into something that's a little more up your alley. Whip 'em out tonight and tomorrow morning!

Things to say at a viewing party

Two minutes before the episode begins, announce "Previously on Lost" in your scariest voice. It's not an original joke, but everyone around you will think you've done this before.
Roll your eyes anytime Sawyer (that's the hot surly blond guy) makes a joke and say "Ugh, I'm so on team Jack." (This also works vice versa anytime Jack whines).
At any given time just say "Man, I miss the days when the biggest question was whether they would live in the caves or on the beach."
Roll your eyes when Kate is onscreen, and suggest a drinking game where everyone sips when Kate does something annoying.
Comment on Claire's skull baby. You'll know it when you see it.

Movie Preview: Zac Efron Shows Emotion in Charlie St. Cloud

Zac Efron has been evolving his career in a more serious direction since his old singing and dancing roles, recently signing on to more grown-up films. Today we get to see him flexing his acting muscle in the preview for the drama Charlie St. Cloud.
Efron plays the title character, a young man on the brink of a new chapter of his life, about to leave his younger brother and mother for college. When a tragic accident changes the course of his life, he remains in his hometown, a grieving, possibly mentally unstable shell of himself. But it's not a total downer: an interesting girl shows up, challenging the way Charlie has been living.
The baseball and sailboat-heavy backdrop evoke a very Nicholas Sparksy-vibe, but I'm hoping that the range Efron is already displaying in the trailer makes for a more substantial movie.

Movie Preview: Emma Stone Gets a Bad Reputation in Easy A

Prepare to be refreshed: for every dozen lackluster comedies, a diamond in the rough emerges, and by the looks of this trailer, that diamond could be Easy A. Emma Stone is at home in the starring role of the high school comedy — somewhat of a modern-day version of The Scarlet Letter — as Olive, a high school nobody. Her standing at school suddenly changes when she pretends to sleep with a gay classmate (Cougar Town's Dan Byrd) as an act of goodwill so their peers will stop torturing him. The lie soon snowballs, and her rep becomes both scandalized and impossible to ignore.
The premise is made all the better by the funny preview — it definitely smacks of Mean Girls, both in setting and humor (sample Olive quip: "I fake rocked your world"). Factor in the many famous faces in the film, like Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes, Lisa Kudrow, plus Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci as Olive's parents, and I'm ready to slap on a scarlet "E" for excited.

Aziz Ansari just wants to touch Robert Pattiinson's hair

The thoroughly lovable Aziz Ansari is prepping for his most high-profile job yet: hosting this year's MTV Movie Awards! The excitement really got ramped up yesterday when all the nominees were revealed, and I have it on good authority that the show is going to be hilarious and fun, thanks to its up-and-coming host. I got to chat with Aziz along with a few other reporters about his new gig and how he's been getting ready (hint: it's a lot of Twilight!).

* On his reaction to being asked to host:
I leapt at the opportunity. For me it's definitely a really huge deal as a comedian; the previous hosts are people I've been big fans of — [Andy] Samberg, Sarah Silverman, and Ben Stiller and all these people — it's cool to be in such good company. My background is stand-up and doing sketch on Human Giant; it's really kind of a dream gig to be able host and do this monologue and do these shorts, so when they called I was really excited. I think they were a little confused when they called me, though; I think they were under the impression that I was a Jonas Brother, and ever since they found out I'm not, they seem to kind of be trying to keep me out of the show.
* On his live tweeting Twilight:
As soon as I got asked to host, the next day I went and watched both Twilight movies to get a quick crash course, and it's pretty remarkable. My goal is to at some point maybe touch Robert Pattinson's hair or maybe try to get a photo with Taylor Lautner's abs. If I could pull that off, I'll be happy.
* On what he's doing to prepare:
I'm trying to really become one with the audience, so I put a poster of Robert Pattinson on my ceiling and I've been staring at it nonstop. I'm just really trying to get in the head of my audience — I haven't been writing jokes or filming any shorts, I've just been looking at that poster, and hopefully that will get me ready for June 6.

I have a couple of surprises in store. I'm going to try to recreate all the big MTV moments in one moment; so it'll be like, falling on Eminem's face while Britney Spears is doing a bad performance while Britney Spears again is kissing Madonna while Kanye West is interrupting, happening at the same time.
* On the kind of movies he likes:
As far as movies to talk about, I'm just going to talk about that Banksy documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, because I just saw that and it's really good. I hope that's relevant to the audience. It is, right?
* Who he's rooting for in the Best Kiss category:
I don't know if he's nominated, but I saw a video of Soulja Boy kissing one of his chains — like, he puts a chain up to his mouth and just kisses it — I'm hoping that he'll win and then he can recreate that when he picks up the award.
* On whether he's Team Edward or Team Jacob:
You know, I'm kind of partial to that Asian kid with glasses that hangs out with Anna Kendrick's character. Eclipse is all about that kid, right?

My sister recently made the tough decision to break up with her boyfriend . . . and let's just say it wasn't their first break-up. Anyway, I've been a good listener (I think), but now I want to do something else to make her feel better, and what better medicine is there than a mixtape? You're right: there is none. Now, there are plenty of songs about heartbreak I could have put on here, but I don't want this to be that kind of mix. (There is also no "I Will Survive," because, eh.) I want this group of tracks to inspire her and make her feel like there is an end in sight after all that heartbreak, without being songs that ignore the problem at hand. Enjoy.

1. "Better Things" by Passion Pit — Kicking it off with something more upbeat, one that reminds you that the best is yet to come.
2. "The Middle" Jimmy Eat World — "Everything everything will be just fine," because it will.

I was surprised when I first heard that Zachary Levi will be singing in the upcoming animated film Rapunzel — mostly because I never pegged Chuck for the crooning type. Turns out I was dead wrong, and Levi even did a duet with Katharine McPhee to prove it! In this new rendition of her single "Terrified" (written by American Idol's very own Kara DioGuardi), Levi shows off a surprisingly impressive set of pipes along with the former Idol herself. It definitely ups his dreamy factor, though I wouldn't mind hearing a few more solo songs instead of duets.

Should Vampire Diaries's Elena and Damon date?

It's been awhile since we've had a good Buzz Battle, but there just hasn't been anything particularly squabble worthy for the Buzz editors to dissect. That is, until now. Over the weekend we stumbled up on this photo of Elena and Damon of The Vampire Diaries looking awfully cozy in an upcoming episode. The sexual tension has been mounting for weeks now, but will the writers go for broke and finally solidify this brotherly love triangle? Let's go over the facts. Editor B will argue the pro side, Editor S the con. And away, we go!
* Editor B: Elena and Stefan make a cute pair, but Elena and Damon really sizzle. Damon gets under her skin and brings out her firecracker side. Plus, Damon can keep her on her toes — and that's what makes for great television. We may always root for Elena to end up with the nice guy, but she and Damon have way hotter chemistry, which will give the show a big boost.
* Editor S Counterpoint: It's way too soon! The show is only in its first season, so it would be TV shark-jumping suicide if the writers let Damon and Elena get together now. Maybe in two, three seasons from now they can consummate that tension, but for now, they need to keep building up this foundation.

* Editor B: The drama on The Vampire Diaries has moved at a solid pace thus far, but we've yet to see Stefan really shaken to his core. So far the vampire with the heart of gold has done his fair share of ass-kicking when necessary, but we've yet to see what he's really capable of. I just know that under all those abs beats the heart of a bad boy — don't you want to see Stefan change it up a little?
* Editor S Counterpoint: I'd love to see Stefan go all Angel on us, but you know it would never last. Once he goes back to being all nice-nice vampire Stefan, he'd just mope without his beloved Elena. And moping is pretty boring.
* Editor B: Damon needs a girlfriend, stat. Sure it's fun to watch him dance around with sorority randos, but we've yet to see him meet his relationship match. Plus, once he starts dating Elena, it'll be perfect time for Katherine to finally make her return after all these years in hiding, which will lead to a whole new dimension of drama.
* Editor S Counterpoint: I can't deny that I want to see Katherine (especially Nina Dobrev in an Eddie Murphy-like dual role, battling herself), but let's not kid ourselves: Damon and Elena would never last. They'd flame out fast, so it might as well come toward the end of the series, not now.

Just call this Super Tuesday: along with the week's DVD releases, we have three standout albums hitting shelves — two of which were among my picks for May! I was pumped to get my hands on them, so now's your turn to give a listen. (And don't forget to check out the Music Review Group. No apology necessary: Indie collective Broken Social Scene release their first album since 2005 with Forgiveness Rock Record. Despite large numbers (seven core members total), Forgiveness keeps cohesive, even when the songs are purposely derailing at high speeds, as on the frenzied "Chase Scene." Things slow on "All to All" where Lisa Lobsinger lays vocals over bubbling electro-pop and on the ballad "Sweetest Kill." For giggles, try "Texico Bitches" or "Me and My Hand," a love song dedicated to your, um, hand.
Delightful camaraderie: I've been dying to check out the New Pornographers' latest Together, ever since the single "Your Hands (Together)" and its fun accom panying video first caught my attention. It's still my favorite on the album, but I'm also loving the more pared-down "Valkyrie in the Roller Disco" with its subtle maraca shaking and "We End Up Together," a building group number which finishes out the album with a chorus of la-la-las. BYOT (bring your own tambourine).

After a short hiatus and a doozy of an episode that finally brought Chuck and Sarah together again, Chuck returns tonight. The Spring season has always brought a bit of panic to fans of Bartowski & co: the show just barely squeaked by into season three last year, thanks to an extensive viral fan campaign and more than a few Subway sandwiches. The good news is that it sounds like our spies will be safe through season four, but I'm always curious to hear your thoughts. If you were pitching Chuck to NBC, tell us why it should (or shouldn't, if that's the case) get another season.
